damian berkley.
Damian started his day like any other typical one of his: he woke up precisely when his alarm went off, at seven o' clock in the morning, and after taking a brief shower, took the bus to get downtown. He took a small backpack with him, and inside was only his wallet, a pair of sunglasses, his headphones, and his current reading, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Muggle literature had always fascinated him, as it was always so much more imaginative than the dry material he had grown up reading, so he usually read what they affectionately referred to as 'the classics'. And, of course, his wand was tucked away, underneath it all. Honestly, he only took it for habit's sake, as there was always little reason to carry it for self-defense in this city. There were so few wizards here anyway, so he never even thought about the possibility of having to duel any of them.
After getting off the bus and paying his small fare, the blond started his walk to his usual Monday morning hangout spot: Expecto Espresso. It was the only place where he could be around people of his kind in a mostly relaxed atmosphere. And, it was the perfect place to not have to talk to people; he could just sit in a corner table by himself, with his earbuds in, book in hand, and coffee on the table. The workers there, silly little Hufflepuffs and the like, knew not to bother him, and he projected a vibe that intimidated most Muggles, so, he could sit undisturbed for as long as he pleased.
The Brit made it to his coffee shop after walking only a couple blocks from where his bus dropped him off, and thankfully, since it was still somewhat early, the line wasn't as long as it could be; sometimes, the popular cafe attracted a line that went out the doors and even around the block at times. He passed the couple minute wait in line by catching up on the day's news on his phone, and then, it was his turn at the counter. His brevity of speech expressed itself even now, as he gave his order to the barista: "A large dark roast, no milk or sugar. That'll be it."
He paid the small amount for the drink before taking his usual seat, in the corner, next to a window. If he grew bored of the book--which could be quite easy, considering Rand's at times irritating verbage--the window seat allowed him to Muggle watch, which proved to be quite entertaining.

[ ack didn’t see that you posted a starter!!! replying now T.T // omg sorry for introducing it before we talked about it, but there should be a small hospital here— i’ve taken the liberty to naming it St. Dunstan’s (apparently he was a well liked Brit saint according to Wikipedia lolol) ; if you want me to change it, pls let me know and i’ll edit my post ]
Rhea Seymour
Rhea’s day had started off way earlier than the average witch’s. As a healer at St. Dunstan’s, the local hospital in Portland, staff was small, but emergencies popped up at random times. Unfortunately, she was the one ‘on call’ that night, and she was dragged out of the on-call room at an early two a.m. to deal with a nasty car accident. Muggles and wizarding folk frequented St. Dunstan’s, but Muggles tended to visit this hospital, famous for its ‘magical’ healing techniques. Rhea was one of the few wizarding doctors, and they often incorporated magic into their healing to get the patients out of the hospital faster.
One of her muggle colleagues jostled her awake as she was drooling away at her desk. The brunette winced at the harsh hospital lights as she dragged herself to the break room. She grabbed her change of clothes and took a shower to wash off the grime of the night’s events and changed into her regular clothes. She tossed her bloodied scrubs into the ‘wash’ pile and shrugged on her doctor’s coat as her outerwear. She tossed her case files and stethoscope and other miscellaneous items into her magically charmed leather bag.
Making sure her wand was hidden on her person, she left the hospital at around seven-thirty in the morning in her car and headed to Expecto Espresso for her daily cup of caffeine. The bell jingled to announce her arrival, and the head Hufflepuff barista and Rhea caught eyes and the man waved at her, signaling that he’d caught her order. She flashed a charming smile at the Hufflepuff as she sat herself down by a window, a few seats down from a familiar blond man. Her eyes caught the man’s frame for a brief second, recognizing the Head of Slytherin before setting her things down across from her. She hoped that he wouldn’t tick her off today, definitely not so early in the morning, when she’d already been awake for over twenty-four hours.
She reached into her charmed bag to pull out the several wizarding case studies, pertaining specifically to lycanthropy. Rhea wanted to find a permanent solution to the disease, ridding the need for Wolfsbane. She only knew of a handful of werewolves, and it wasn’t a curse she would wish on anyone. But the disease was absolutely infuriating, and her lack of sleep wasn’t helpful. She wished her coffee would come sooner before her eyes would fail her and she’d drift off to sleep.

[ *rises from the abyss* okay . . . let's do this. ]
Evangeline Whites:
Evangeline Whites usually woke up at around eight o'clock, but not today. Today, she had to be up early. Eva got out of bed at the crack of dawn, very early. She combed out her hair, splashed her face with water, brushed her teeth, and went outside, in the front of her apartment complex. Eva waited for about ten minutes, recalling the email she'd received. Your messenger should arrive at dawn two weeks from today. She has enclosed my response. She sighed, standing up, giving up. There's no point in standing outside idly. Not when I have better things to do. Just when she was about to step inside, Eva heard a loud squawking noise, and turned to the sky. Her owl was soaring down, down, down, carrying a letter.
"Selene!" she exclaimed with delight. Evangeline had waited over a month for this; sending an owl across the globe was very complicated, requiring tons of waiting and transactions and means of transportation . . . needless to say, a witch would only send an owl that far when it was necessary. And it was necessary. Eva took the letter, but didn't open it. I should read it when I'm not half asleep. Letter in hand, she went back inside to get ready for the day.
An hour and a half later, Evangeline decided to grab some coffee. Perhaps she'd be able to get some work done. She stuck her wand up one sleeve, grabbed a laptop, and rode the bus to Expecto Expresso. Muggles and wizards alike seemed to be flooding the streets. After all, it was nearly rush hour. Eva stepped inside, pushing the door open, and draped her jacket across one seat, claiming it as hers. She got on line, tapping her foot impatiently. When it was time to order, Eva said, "Mocha coffee with whip, please." She pulled a couple of coins out of her handbag, and slid them across the counter with a clatter. The barista nodded, and she stepped to the side, waiting for her drink to be served. She let her eyes wander around the coffee shop, watching witches, wizards and muggles go about their day. Eventually, she went back to her seat, and opened the letter. She was surprised at how brief it was. It read,
Dear Miss Whites, Hello. I am pleased to see that you haven't been wasting your time while studying abroad. Your theory about the wampus beast is . . . interesting. As you well know, it is dangerous to experiment with magic. Even collecting the fur samples may prove to be dangerous. Send Selene back with a paper describing how you'll go about it. Only then will I decide. Sincerely, Dr. Finch.
Evangeline let out a huff of disappointment, leaning back in her seat. At this rate, I won't be able to leave until next year! She turned as her name was called, picking up her mocha flavored coffee. She drank it hot, taking a few quick sips at a time. Eva pulled out her laptop, opening up email. Eva wished she could respond fully, but no, they had to be vague and unspecific over email, over muggle servers. Just in case. It was a real inconvenience, but also a safety precaution. She typed, I received the letter. I would like to get going as soon as possible, but I understand. It will be done. Eva sat alone, watching. She saw the Gryffindor and Slytherin house administrators, but said nothing, preferring to keep quiet.
