Welcome!
Hello and welcome. This is an episodic, realistic RP, designed to be laid-back and a sort of outlet for your imagination. I have few standards but some degree of literacy and a satisfactory character. Setting
This RP takes place in a spruce forest very much like the one portrayed above, called Wolfhaven. The secret to Wolfhaven is that the trees are actually magical barriers that keep human beings and their dogs out, as well as alien wolves. The downside is that Wolfhaven is rather small as well as enclosed, forcing the packs within to cooperate and negotiate in a rather unusual way. There are numerous packs inside, all of which are small families, nothing extravagant, yet eloquent of the spirit of the wolf all the same. The three most venerated families, the Tall Trees, the Mosses, and the Crows, live in the center of Wolfhaven, which is considered more favorable than the sparser fringes that radiate from this center in rays. The farther you get from the center, the bulkier and thus clumsier the wolves are, a trait considered unfavorable. There are six small packs in all, similar to nation-states: the Tall Trees, the Mosses, the Crows, the Cloudbanks, the Songbirds, and the Thunderbolts (each wolf has their pack name as their surname, e.g. Grass Cloudbank). Each of these packs is composed of a mated pair, or Alpha pair, a Beta (one of their children), and their other offspring, which are unranked in contrast to their plainly authoritative Beta and parents. The territories are ever-changing in the fringes, where the going is easy, but the center will always remain strictly organized, with the Tall Trees to the left, the Mosses in the middle, and the Crows to the right. The wolves on the fringes often engage in trade and commerce and might also occasionally team up to hunt, but the rather prideful wolves of the Tall Tree, Moss, and Crow families are sworn enemies and often avoid one another as much as possible. Rules
• Follow the forum rules.
• Be curteous. No harassment, argument, or rudeness will be tolerated. Behavior seen inappropriate will be addressed with speed and efficiency.
• Both IC and OOC content should be PG-13. When IC and verging an inappropriate scene, initiate a time-skip. Inappropriate innuendos or hints are OK, but expect wholly inappropriate media to be punished.
• No swearing. You or your character may use the words 'damn' and 'hell', if needed, but refrain from using other curses.
• Each post should contain at least 30 words, no exceptions. Posts should also be at least coherent, with proper spelling and grammar. Also use sense as well as etiquette. Your characters cannot be everywhere at once, mind you; this ruins the roleplay for everyone.
• OOC content should be bracketed with [], {}, or () ON BOTH SIDES and distinguishable from IC content in some way, e.g. with considerable spacing.
• Consult the thread when you have a question or inquiry, not the founder. This is the politest and most efficient way to ask. ◦ If you have a sensitive issue you absolutely do not wish to be seen, privately note the founder instead.
• Only the founder should post the beginning of each new episode and call the old ones to an end. You do not have the authority to commence new episodes.
• Ask someone permission before bringing harm to or killing their character.
• Ask the founder before initiating a major subplot, such as a forbidden romance or major crime. Petty drama or conflict is OK, but plots that will impact on entire pack(s) need to be checked by the founder.

Character Creation
• Name your character appropriately. The wolves have names inspired by nature, not names like Katie or Jack. • Give your character at least 3 weaknesses, flaws, and strengths. These traits can make or break a character. • No unnatural fur colors. Accepted fur colors are white, cream, 'yellow' (sandy), tawny, brindled, brown, dark brown, etc. See this chart. All of the colors and patterns seen here are accepted but those in the 'Tick and Roan' section (with the exception of the color black, which is not allowed).
• No intricate markings, e.g. swirls, hearts, or squares.
• No high-contrast patterns such as 'saddles', 'gloves', or spots. Wolves rarely differ from one another, and thus coats should be inconspicuously marked.
• No excessive white covering over or under otherwise colored fur. Your wolf cannot have brown spots over a white base.
• No fur patterns seen in species other than wolves, such as piebald, merle, etc.
• Fur cannot be wholly solid in color. Wolves often have small flecks of darker fur or are at least faintly brindled. There is never a wolf with not a marking on him.
• No ostentatious hairstyles. No bangs, cow-licks, or other anthropomorphic hairstyles; your wolf isn't Warriors fanart. If you can prove that this characteristic exists in the wild with a piece of scientific evidence, however, please contact me.
• Your characters can have mutations such as hyperdontia, albinism, and hypertrichosis so long as you can prove that they exist in the wild without human intervention or influence (this encompasses wolves interbreeding with domestic dogs, which is impossible in these circumstances.)
• No black wolves are allowed. The melanistic (black) gene in wolves is the result of wolves intermingling with dogs, who gave rise to this gene. And since the barrier keeps dogs out, this is impossible.
• No wolf hybrids, e.g. coywolves or wolfdogs.
• Wolves should have a build identical to those of their family. This is one way the wolves distinguish one family from another. For example, if you were to have a Crow wolf, they would need to be thin like all of the center wolves.
• Wolves with entire missing appendages are prohibited (note that your character may receive a smaller injury in the story) and wolves with paralyzed lower or upper halves are forbidden period. Also note that if your character's spine is crushed or if one of their vital organs is damaged considerably, they are expected to die either instantly or several minutes later. ◦ If you endanger your character, be warned that they may die if help does not arrive.
• Characters of diverse gender identities or sexualities are accepted and welcome. This allows transgender wolves.
• Only males can be lone wolves. Males part from their birth pack upon adulthood in search of a mate. She-wolves do not do this unless their entire pack has been eradicated and they are looking to join a new one.
• All pups must be born into their family IC. You cannot join with a pup character. Pups must be born, then you can claim them.
• All wolves under 6 months of age need a guardian. Orphaned pups are not allowed. Pups beyond this age do not need a guardian, however.

Name & Surname: Ashbringer Moss
Age: 2 years
Gender: Cis Female
Sexuality: Asexual
Pack: Moss
Rank: Subordinate
Appearance: Ashbringer stands a few inches shorter than most of the other wolves in her pack. She as a light build and narrow features under a thick grey-agouti pelt with darker flecks long her back and sides, partially the inspiration for her name. She has pale tan eyes marked with darker edges. Her small size makes stalking prey easy enough, but actual combat or trying to bring down a large target can be difficult for her, even with the assistance of others.
Personality: While there are some exceptions, Asbringer tends to be quiet and reserved when amongst her fellows. She doesn’t try to hide her opinions or problems, though when she shares such matters with others, her tone is typically low. She rarely makes remarks or quips without prompting. Around other wolves, especially ones that she’s unfamiliar with, Ashbringer is fairly ornery and sour. She doesn’t care much to cause trouble for others as long as she and her pack are left well enough alone. When forced into an interaction, she’ll often make sure everyone is just as unhappy as she is. Ashbringer has a fair number of trust issues, taking a fairly long time to develop any sort of interest in other wolves around her, and even longer to actually form bonds. She is quite good at getting into places she doesn’t belong or probably shouldn’t fit thanks to her small build and size. Pups
Crow Pack (in order of age)
Alphas
Beta
Subordinates
Name & Surname: Nettle Crow
Age: Two Years
Gender: Cis Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Pack: Crow
Rank: Subordinates
Appearance: Nettle is a little bit taller than most female wolves in her pack, still falling close to the average size, that it is hard to tell directly that she is slightly taller. Unless you have her stand close to another female. Like most of her pack mates, she is rather skinny, but her thick fur hides it decently. Nettles has big green eyes, which like most wolves aren't a vibrant green, but instead a paler colored green. Her coat is a thick tawny agouti color. Her fur consists of the light tawny coloring, but is mixed with grey along, the side of her ears, her cheek fur going down her neck, a bit on her back, and on the tips of her tail. Though she is mostly the tawny brown, with the usual white a wolf has on her chest underbelly, and slightly on the paws, though being like normal wolves it is not a pure white but more as a cream, with the mixture of her tawny coat.
Personality: Nettle may be small in size, but don't let the fool you, she tends to try and act tough, especially towards the outer region wolves whom are larger in muscle mass than she. She doesn't full out, go hunting for fights. Nettle isn't going to go out proving she's tough. Though if some wolf attempts to walk over her that is not in face her higher ranked wolves she is going to stand up for herself, and fight back. She doesn't like being challenged, and she doesn't back out easily from a challenge either. Nettle can be a little competitive, but she isn't loud. She is more of a quiet wolf who obeys orders from her alpha, and no one else. Though she does enjoy the challenge with the other subordinates in races, or who could spot prey first. Though it's all in good fun. She tries not to get to caught up in their challenges where it could be dangerous to herself. Though sometimes she does, and she has to deal with the consequences of a scratch across her flank from so-and-so.
Nettle can be extremely awkward, and tends to be horrible with starting conversation. Unless it is something pertaining what they have to do. She doesn't know how to engage in a chat that well, unless she feels comfortable around you to share things with. Including, that she is quite an adventurous wolf, and she ends up sharing what she finds with you, and possibly offering to take you to some place that she found.
Nettle might be quite a reckless wolf, but not to extent that she will cause great bodily injury, only scratches varying in size. Though she has a lot of scratches never deep enough to leave a scar. Though just because she is reckless, she isn't going to make it that her pack members will get hurt. Though she enjoys exploring finding different passageways that later she can use for her personal gain. Maybe it being the pack needs a way to escape that wasn't their usual route.
Nettle can be quite stubborn, and not easily moved. Though she is loyal to her pack, and her alpha's wishes doing her best to uphold her alphas wishes, and doing what is best for the pack. She is insanely loyal which isn't necessarily a bad thing, being that loyal is what makes a good wolf.

Songbird Pack (in order of age)
Alpha
Name & Surname: Cedar Songbird
Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Pack: Songbird
Rank: Beta
Appearance: Cedar has a Red Sable coat with subtle fawn, almost entirely blended into the Red Sable, running down his hackles onto his shoulder blades. His physique is much larger than most of Crows, Tall Trees, or Mosses, but at the same time isn't a looming hulk. His tail is long and at most times curled upward. It too has fawn color splashed throughout it. His eyes are a dark blue.
Personality: Cedar is a cold wolf. A packmemmber would be lucky to catch him showing any emotion at all. He is out to make a point that he is not to be toiled with by any means necessary. Most wolves will bark before they bite, but that is not the case for Cedar. When it comes to pack relations, Cedar typically looks out for himself before anyone else. This may very well result in him being disbanded from the pack. However, Cedar has a soft spot in his heart for the youth. He would never harm a pup, regardless of the conditions.

Thunderbolt Pack (in order of age)
Alpha
Name & Surname: Thistle Thunderbolt
Age: 4 years
Gender: Cis male
Sexuality: Pansexual
Pack: Thunderbolt Pack
Rank: Alpha
Appearance: Thistle is a bulky wolf, like all of the Thunderbolts. He wears a gray-and-cream 'agouti' coat, his cream fur, ticked with black, gradually darkening to black around the chest and shoulders and thus forming a sort of bib. He has a rather flat head, most unlike the domed skull of a dog, intensifying his already wolfish appearance. His tail is short and stubby, resembling a feather-duster in appearance, and cream in color, peppered with black ticking. His ears are triangular, with rounded tips. His eyes are a translucent orange.
Personality: Thistle is one of those creepy old people you don't want to be around. He's wistful to the extent of weirdness, his excessive sincerity painting the image of a hollowness. He's goopy, an acquired taste, pouring out his feelings whenever the opportunity arises and celebrating each milestone as though it is his own. He is neutral in every sense of the word, not too observant yet not too ignorant, noting subtleties when needed but only subconsciously evaluating them when preoccupied.
Thistle is weirdly loving, friendly toward the hateful packs that live in the center of Wolfhaven in spite of the way they scorn him endlessly. This can cause much skepticism, giving rise to worry or at least undertones that Thistle's oft-affectionate attitude allows for the notion that he is too unassertive toward the elegant center packs.
Thistle is a weird wolf, unpredictable in nature and spasmodic in movement. Sometimes he will react to an inquiry or remark with slurred dismissal; others he will seem completely oblivious to said assertion, only smiling vaguely in response.
Thistle is charming. Too charming. He's creepily good at negotiating, so innocent that others sometimes pity him. He could be classified as an idiot by some, however, as he appears almost woozy when simply functioning.
Thistle is precarious, riskily merciful in some instances and strangely rapid to take action in others. He has a slow mind, failing to pick up on sarcasm and cynicism, and a mood that seems to fluctuate egregiously.
But don't think this strange wolf is entirely useless. Thistle is surprisingly down-to-earth for one of his nature, logical in his own unique fashion, operating on a basis of whether something is chivalric or good. He is one to be optimistic and one to try to do the best he can, allowing for good leadership in some instances and bad in others. He is a good and patient teacher and will always exhibit upright and ethical courage. He is a helpful guide, showing others life in a step-by-step endeavor, and always does the best he can. He is a patient father, doing the best he can to rear his pups to be great wolves.

(Hello hello, I'm not familiar with animal role-plays all that much and I want to improve at them. This seems organized, so I'm really considering giving it a shot. I'll have my characters in a moment, but I'm heading out with my roommates soon so I'll disappear for a few hours later in the night, and be back to role-play more later tonight)

[This RP will be functioning on an episodic system, as you know if you've read the rules. Each episode will end after every relevant character has participated in the RP. I will end each finished episode and start each new one. Each episode will have its own title and be added to the Episode Tracker when finished.]

[You might also have noticed that the hierarchy is in order of age rather than rank. This is how real-life packs actually function. The Alphas are usually the parents, while the Beta is the oldest child and the rest are the middle children. When mature, males leave their birth packs to go join new packs. This is how inbreeding is prevented.]

(This I know. I've read a few things about the entire Alpha-Beta-ect system that's usually used everywhere else being pulled from poorly researched science, partially why I decided to join this rp. Also, you wanted similar builds across pack members. What are the typical builds for the different packs?) (ppffffft nah, no firestarters here. More I was thinking of making a grey-colored wolf. I like the Agouti pattern )
