Peter:
“Star Trek,” Peter repeated, nodding. “It’s a movie. But, uh, not important,” he added with a mumble as he watched her go to the closet to pick out a costume. His eyes then briefly trailed downwards to the raccoon, and he lifted his eyebrows. “Seriously?” he said. “You really are a daft animal sometimes, you know that, Rocket?” He shook his head, a short laugh escaping his lips as he pointed at the Guardian. “You already are a stupid raccoon!” And then he muttered to himself about who really had the issues. Not him. Nope. Rocket was the one with the issues. He didn’t even know he was a raccoon—
Peter’s grumbling to himself was cut short because his eyes were back on Gamora. “That is one foxy dress,” he said. “That is totally not what I had in mind, but you are wearing it.” He was already imagining her in the red dress, and he couldn’t help the goofy grin on his face as the words to “Come and Get Your Love” began to play on his Walkman.
'Cause you're fine And you're mine, and you look so divine Come and get your love Come and get your love

Tom:
There had been half a temptation to actually follow Peter and Rocket and the rest of the Guardians, but when Tom noticed how Peter was looking at Gamora he quickly thought better of it. He instead stuck around Steve and Bucky, completely ignoring any mention of leaving the room because it was too crowded. He snorted a bit when he heard what Steve was dressing as. "Good job, man," he said. "No one will ever guess it's you." He half lifted a hand, as if he was preparing to scratch at his hair, then remembered halfway through that it would probably ruin his hair. "Look, just come and do this party thing. That'll probably be a lot easier to enjoy than in this closet." He nodded to where he could hear Peter's "music" and then started slowly walking in that direction. He wasn't really surprised to see that Percival had completely disappeared from his position by the door. Tom didn't even bother looking for him. Eveline had disappeared too, but he could hear her somewhere near the edge of the room. "I'd almost like to see if I can change the music," he drawled. He glanced at Bucky. "Think I should give it a shot?"
---
Percival:
Percival seemed to have a sixth sense when someone was about to light something on fire. And he was ridiclously quiet too. So the fact that Logan had ducked out to possibly smoke didn't seem to matter much. Whether he'd actually completed the action or not didn't seem to matter much. Percival still seemed to silently approach him. Right up until he attempted to open the screen door. Or didn't. He looked like he hadn't even seen it, focused so furiously on Logan, and he ran directly into the mesh - almost ripping it. He hurriedly stepped back in surprised and then fiddled with the handle to open it. Then worried at the lock when that didn't happen. It took him about five seconds longer than the average person to work out how to open the screen and then he'd stepped out to the same stoop as Logan, adjusting his firefighter hat in the process. "Hello," he said. Considering the silence he approached with, he could have been a cat. Considering the actual approach, he would have been the worst hunter in the world. His voice was cultured and might have held a bit of a German accent. "Were you intending to sneak away on your own or were you just interested in being alone?"
---
Eveline:
She had, in a sense, followed the Guardians. This might have just been a listless attempt to have somewhere to go. She watched from a distance for a while, then slowly ... almost tip toed ... forward until she was standing beside Rocket. Her arms were crossed and she was looking at the scene of Peter and Gamora while chewing her lip. Then she looked down at Rocket and quietly asked, "Are they always like this? Why do they not just ... put us out of our misery?" Her wildly styled hair bobbed around a bit. She seemed to be completely ignoring Peter now and the fact that he had been talking to Rocket. But she did add, "Why not just find a costume you can live with? It can be an amusing way to mock or support something. Maybe you could dress as Peter and show everyone how you see him?" There was an interesting light in her bruise colored eyes which could almost be mistaken for mischief.

Gamora and Rocket:
"If it's not what you had in mind, why should I wear it?" Gamora asked, glancing down at the dress and back up at Peter again with confusion, maybe a bit of suspicion. "How would anyone guess who I was, then?" Part of her got the feeling that Peter wanted her to wear it simply because he'd never get to see her wear anything like it again. Figures. Still, she didn't feel like repeating Peter's fifteen-minute search for a costume. She'd rather get this over with sooner than later. So, it was 'Uhura' or nothing.
Eveline's genius suggestion brought a smile creeping up Rocket's face as ideas flooded into his mind. Such a costume would be easy and perfect. "Now that's a real idea," he congratulated Eveline. "Just you wait, Quill." He was so going to be wishing he'd never asked Rocket to wear a costume soon. And with that, Rocket turned and bounded from the room to put this perfection together, snickering with glee.

Steve & Bucky:
Steve looked over at Tom. "You think?" A hat and glasses always seemed to work as a disguise in the real world, but he had a feeling that at a Halloween party full of the very heroes who always used the same disguise would see right through him. Still, he wasn't too worried about who knew it was him. It was just a Halloween party, so all the fun came in dressing up. In fact, it probably would be funnier if they knew it was him but had no idea what he was dressed as. "A civilian," he'd tell them. "Just that." They'd probably give him a funny look, but he'd pretend it was just clever.
Bucky listened to the conversing over Peter's music, and when Tom turned to him, he let out a laugh at the other's words. "Yeah, why are we in this closet still, anyways, when there's a secluded corner calling my name out there?" He followed Steve and Tom out of the room, eyes looking over all the halloween decorations. His eyes then once more fell upon Tom, and he lifted his eyebrows. "I'd like to see that," he said. "But, be warned: I heard that he once defeated a guy in a dance battle. So, if he challenges you, well, good luck."
Logan:
Logan's hands went into his pockets and came out empty. He'd forgotten his cigars had been confiscated, so there went that idea. He let out a groan and leaned his arms onto the porch railing. His eyes looked over the large expanse of land that was the Avengers Base, and he sighed into the air. The others had convinced him to throw on a costume (which honestly was something he probably could have been seen sporting after a battle, which is why he'd hesitantly agreed) but a party was another thing. Did he actually have to attend? He was more of a 'grab a drink (or ten... probably ten) and sit alone' type of guy. He didn't dance. He didn't socialize. He didn't really... party. Outside was much nicer. Not so loud, not so... full of people trying to have fun.
He unwrapped another piece of candy he'd grabbed and stuck it in his mouth just as he heard a thud behind him. He stopped chewing his 3 Musketeers and slowly turned to face the screen door, which now had Percival's face in it. Despite himself, Logan cracked a wolfish grin. He watched Percival attempt to open the door, and he could have helped the poor guy, but he honestly thought it was funnier to watch. He lifted his eyebrows in disbelief at how long it was taking him to open the dang door. When he finally made it through, Logan answered, "Alone. Although, you've sort of ruined that." His eyes did a roll, and his attention was drawn back to the open fields. "Are you trying to sneak out?" He wouldn't have blamed the guy; he'd have snuck off if he didn't had an odd sense of loyalty.
Peter:
"Because you look good, Gamora," Peter said, sounding serious for once. "That's why I think you should wear the dress." And now it was joke time. "And, besides, no one knows who I am, either. So we can both fit in by not fitting in, right?" That made sense, didn't it? Maybe it made more sense in his mind. He shrugged to himself because it honestly didn't matter, and then out of the corner of his eye he saw Rocket running off. Curious, he turned to Eveline. "What'd you say to him that got him so excited?" he asked. The only things that got him excited were new weapons and ridiculing Peter-- oh, no. Oh, no. "What did you say to him?" he repeated, feeling like Rocket was up to something stupid.

Gamora and Rocket:
"Hmm," Gamora agreed absentmindedly, examining the dress in her hands. "If you say so." At least she wouldn't have to wear it for very long. Just as long as this party was going. So, the sooner she got on this dress and joined them, the sooner it would be over. "Well, I'll be back," she told Peter as she left the room to put it on.
One would think a facility as big as the Avengers' would have plenty of guest rooms, but they didn't really. Most of the rooms were offices and labs. There were enough bedrooms for each of the Avengers to have their own to themselves, but with all the others staying over at the moment, a few had had to share rooms. Gamora was fine with sharing with Nebula and Mantis, but if she'd had to share with a stranger? No way.
Anyway, once she reached their room, not too far from the one she'd just left, she headed straight for where her clothes were stored in a small dresser. She found her black boots, then began changing into them and the red dress.
By the way, wearing dresses was not worth the effort of putting them on.
Meanwhile, Rocket had snuck into Quill's room and was now rummaging through his extremely sloppy collection of clothes. Rocket wasn't even sure if all of this was clean. Due to his sensitive smell, he definitely had some suspicions. Still, all he needed was one of Quill's shirts for this to work. Once he found one that was clearly Quill's, a graphic tee with a design in an alien language, he slipped it on over his head. After doing so he realized it was huge on him, but hey, that added to the effect.
One more thing. Given the whole argument about them from earlier, Rocket wasn't surprised to have found a stack of name tag stickers floating around while he'd snooped through the living room during his fifteen minute wait for Quill. He'd snagged one on his way here to complete the look, but he wasn't just going to write Quill's name on it. That would be too obvious. He had to be more creative
Which was easy. After finding a pen and scribbling onto the name tag to finish its sentence, "Hello, I am... a moron." He stuck the sticker onto Quill's shirt and bam, genius costume complete. Quill's definitely gonna hate it, but that's the whole point, Rocket thought with a smirk. He couldn't wait to see his face when he got back to the other room.

Eveline:
There was some pride in Eveline's expression when she realized that she might have actually given a good suggestion. She watched as Rocket ... rocketed ... away and then had her attention drawn back to Peter. Her expression reverted back to the same one she had had for a very long time. It seemed to be her neutral expression. "I'm not sure what you mean," she said. "I just told him that he should wear a costume. Isn't that what you wanted?" She was likely making an enemy here, but she didn't mind too much. Her attention briefly went to where Rocket had exited the room and then glanced back at Peter. "Relax." Apparently, shyness could be put aside sometimes.
Tom:
"Yes, I believe on is calling to you," said Tom. "The one I'll be standing in." He jabbed a finger at his chest. "Anyway, someone has to tell everyone what you two jokers are." He scoffed a bit, but it sounded like a joke. He moved with not so much a purpose as a general sidle toward the Walkman. "As for a challenge, I don't think so. Trust me. Peter will know who's music this is and I'll be untraceable from it." There was mischief in his voice. Then, without much hint, the Walkman disappeared. There was a strangled sound from it - though it didn't seem to be a sound coming from anywhere on Tom's person - and then suddenly the Walkman was back in the same place. Tom, standing a couple feet away from it at best, looked at Bucky with both eyebrows raised. Music that the almost assuredly from the era Bucky and Steve had grown up in started to play. Tom looked not a bit surprised. Though how he had gotten a cassette was anyone's guess.
Percival:
"Alone is relative," said Percival, in more of a chatty school teacher voice that Logan probably would like to hear. But either way, he seemed like he was going to attempt to make friendly conversation. "No. Not trying to sneak out. I'm being rather obvious about it if I was." He shrugged one shoulder and then reached into a pocket, pulling out a cigar lighter and running it through his hands. If he smoked - which was up for debate - than he didn't pull anything out. Instead he just glanced sideways at Logan. "What about you?" he asked. "Would you sneak out? If there was something interesting going on?" With the way Percival said it, it implied he had something in mind.

("Rocket rocketed" ) Rocket and Gamora:Rocket was the first to arrive back at the guest room Quill was still in. Of course, with the costume he was wearing, he had to make an entrance. The best way to do so would be to stroll into the room as casually as possible, as if he wasn't in costume at all, and wait until Quill noticed. Which was exactly what he did. Stepping into the room with no more urgency than if he was just popping in on his way by, Rocket commented, "Oh, hey, Quill. What's going on? You haven't joined the party yet." Gamora got back to the room next. She'd finished putting on the boots and dress, which, luckily, fit her, though still felt awkward to wear. She'd assumed Peter would still be in the other guest room waiting for her, so she headed straight there. When she walked in, though, the first thing she noticed was Rocket wearing a shirt that was so huge on him it reached his knees. The sight was so absurd she had to cover her mouth with her hand to stifle her laugh, and even then it still came out as something between a cough and a choke. On second glance, she realized it was one of Peter's shirts, and with that, along with the name tag, it wasn't difficult to guess his sly intentions. And she knew Peter wasn't going to like them. Speaking of things Peter wouldn't like, Gamora had noticed something else was off as soon as she'd entered the room, but only now did she realize what it was. Someone had changed Peter's music. She wasn't sure if that made them brave, crazy, or just plain idiotic. But she had to admit that she was impressed.

Peter Quill:
Peter lifted an eyebrow at Eveline as Rocket disappeared. Is that what he wanted? Perhaps. But not like... that. Rocket never zoomed off like that and hardly ever grinned in that manor unless he had some evil scheme cooking up in his mind. Peter wasn't sure that was what he wanted. He let out a nervous laugh. "Right," he mumbled. "And, no, no, no," he said, quickly. "I will not relax." He made air-quotes around the word 'relax'. "You don't know that raccoon." A maniacal laugh escaped his lips. "Oh, no. You do not know that raccoon."
Peter stood beside Eveline in the guest room, anxiously waiting for both Gamora and Rocket to reappear. It seemed like centuries later when Rocket came through the doorway first and then Gamora. At first he stared at Rocket with a perplexed expression. He looked like a fool with a too-large shirt and--- Wait! That was his shirt. Peter's face transformed into that of anger, nose scrunching up and eyes narrowed. Was Rocket trying to be him? Oh, that wasn't funny. That was... that was cruel. "That's my shirt, raccoon," he growled at last. "Take it off---" And then he froze again, finally seeing the stupid name tag on the shirt. And that's when Peter smiled, shook his head, and very easily changed his mind about how he was feeling on the subject of Rocket's costume. "No, no. Keep it," he decided, beaming ear to ear. "It looks way better on you, anyways, moron."
Laughter erupted from his throat, and then his eyes found Gamora. "Holy---" He closed his shocked mouth, and he swallowed, blinking. "You look... wow."
As for the music, Peter was too busy staring at Rocket and then Gamora that he hadn't even noticed the change yet.
Logan:
"Right..." Logan muttered, his eyes traveling back to the fields. "So, you're bothering me because...?" He slowly returned his gaze back to the other man, and his focus drained in on what he'd pulled out of his pocket. Narrowing his eyes and tilting his head slightly to the side, Logan said, "What are you doing with that? And... the only thing interesting about that party is how un-interesting it is. Unless... you plan on doing something to change that." Again, his attention was focused on the object in Percival's hand. Maybe this guy was alright.
Bucky & Steve:
"Jokers?" Both Steve and Bucky said the word simultaneously, Steve with more surprise than Bucky. "Steve's not a joker," Bucky added. "He can't joke, not even if it was to save his life." He sideways glanced Steve. "Sorry, Steve." Steve shrugged like it didn't bother him. He knew it was true, so there was no denying it. And then they both curiously watched Tom. At first, both men were confused. But then Steve crossed his arms, clearly unhappy, and Bucky said, "Wait, you're not serious, are you? Untraceable my--" Steve punched him to stop whatever Bucky was about to say, and said, "Nice, choice of music, Tom. When Peter comes running, I'll be glad to let him know it was you."

Rocket and Gamora:Rocket definitely enjoyed watching Quill's face progress from confused to angry to misguidedly pleased. "I'm glad you like it, Quill," Rocket replied, and though he was grinning, his voice dripped with sarcasm. "Though I wasn't dressing up as myself." The joke was on him, not Rocket, whether he understood that or not. But it was reasonable that he didn't get it. Out of the two of them, he wasn't the one who'd been genetically engineered to be a genius. Gamora shifted a bit on her feet; whether because of annoyance or embarrassment, she didn't let on. "The point of this costume wasn't to look 'wow,'" she pointed out. On second thought, maybe this would be drawing too much attention to herself... Oh, whatever, she pushed the thought aside. It's just Peter being Peter. Amazed by simple things. She smiled to herself, amused. "Should we join the others, then?" she asked. "Peter, Rocket?" (I feel like we could just swap the decorations halfway through the party and pretend it's suddenly become a Christmas party instead. )

Eveline: There was a small, soft smile on Eveline's face that she assumed no one but her saw. She was not particularly inclined to be anyone other than herself and for the time being she could be. She could smile and assume that no one was watching. As it was, Peter seemed to be finding the whole situation amusing. For some unknown reason. Maybe he was just capable of laughing at himself. If that was the case, maybe Gamora actually had good taste. Eveline glanced away when Peter started focusing on Gamora again. It was clear to anyone with a set of eyes that they were a couple. She attempted to catch Rocket's eyes, just to see what his reaction was, but then hurriedly glanced away. Her curiosity warred with her shyness. A party wasn't the best place for learning anything about the people around her, particularly if they all made her feel a bit sick. But she didn't think about that. Instead her attention shifted a bit to the new music. She frowned. Hadn't Peter threatened a bit about this?
---
Percival: "Because you're convenient," yawned Percival. "And possibly interesting. That last one is yet to be seen, since I know nothing about you." The lighter spun between his fingers, absently and without any intent. "This? Consider it a security blanket. Plus I noticed you weren't lighting cigarette and I figured I needed a bit of light to see." He didn't light anything though. Instead he placed the lighter back into a pocket. "I could do something to change this uninteresting party, though." Percival raised an eyebrow at the distant view. "Do I have your interest or ...?" He tapped at the pocket he'd placed the lighter in. "Or I could make somewhere else interesting." It was unclear if his statement was connected to the lighter or whether he was just making conversation.
---
Tom: "Hum?" Tom said, arching an eyebrow with a mischievous light in his eyes. "No. No, I think not. See, I have no evidence on me. But I believe you, Steve Rodgers, have a cassette in your back pocket that seems to be in the same genre as the one playing. I think that's very suspicious." He tapped his foot against the floor, as if listing off something as he thought of it. "And I sure that both of you know Peter far better than I do and could have prepared for this." Tom leaned against the back of the couch, both arms crossed as he considered both Bucky and Steve. "And that's just the evidence that I'm telling you about." There was a light in his eyes that might have more closely resembled a cat. Calculated and superior. Not like he was mocking Steve and Bucky, but like he had set up a really good prank that he was proud of. "And it's good music," he mused lightly. "Very period. Very good in its time. I do wonder if both of you couldn't quote the lyrics for most of these."

Logan:
Logan narrowed his eyes, one brow risen slightly higher than the other. "Convenient? And interesting?" He let out a scoff. "I've been called both before," he muttered. Although Percival had no idea who he was, it was no secret of Logan's history or his mutant abilities. While he didn't go on shouting of his past (and while quite a bit of it was still a mystery to him, thanks to Stryker and the Weapon X program), it wasn't exactly hidden that he was usually a man sought out if they needed a dirty job done. Regrettably (or not), he was the best there was at what he did.
He stuck his candy cane into his mouth, and let it sit there between his lips. His eyes focused on the lighter dancing in Percival's fingers until the man put it away, and then his gaze travelled back out into the fields. Once upon a time, he could have been back at Xavier's School. Once upon a time, the fields he was looking at now could have been the fields he'd watched the young mutants run around in as Xavier moved along in his wheelchair. He didn't realize how much he missed the place until it was nothing but a memory, lost with all the others.
"I once knew a man who carried around a lighter like you," he said, casually. "His name was John, but he preferred the name Pyro. You can guess why." His gaze slowly trailed back to Percival, and his head tilted ever so slightly. "But... I don't think you're a mutant like he was. So, you've got me. Why the lighter? Are you a thrill seeker? A pyro like my friend? Or is it just a weird obsession?"

Quill:
"Oh, I know that, Rabbit," Peter said, pleasantly. "I know that." And he pet Rocket on the head like a "good dog" and glanced once more at Gamora. His eyebrows did a fancy dance. "Gamora," he said, "I think very much that the point was to look 'wow'." And he was grinning far too much for someone in a fluffy, oversized christmas sweater. "I mean, you'll certainly win 'best dressed' for the christmas party. But, you're right. We better get out there or else they'll think we disappeared or something."
He stepped one step out of the room and-- "What the heck happened to my music?"
Steve & Bucky:
Meanwhile, Steve and Bucky were very much hoping that Peter 'disappeared or something' as they tried to change Peter's music back to Peter's music. With narrowed eyes, Steve glared at Tom. Although he quite missed the simple music of his time and would have loved to grab Peggy and spin around the room, there were three problems: one, Peter had warned against changing his music; two, Peggy wasn't there; and three, Steve still hadn't quite learned to dance, not with Peggy at least. And now the music was just bringing back bittersweet memories.
He blinked away a tear, and then said, "Wait, what did you just say?" Having been too lost in his own mind, he only caught the last bit of Tom's sentence that sounded oddly like 'a cassette in your back pocket'. With a confused huff, he felt around his pocket and sure enough there was a dang cassette sticking out of his pocket. With a laugh that was hardly amusing, he pulled the cassette out of his pocket and held it out to Tom. He should have been concerned how it had gotten into his pocket in the first place. But he found that he was more worried as to what Peter was going to say. Although, funnily enough, he didn't know Peter as much as Tom had claimed. In fact, he hardly knew Peter at all. "I don't even want to know how you sneaked this into my pocket," he said, considering his nice party suit was pretty tight, "and I probably don't want to know how you grabbed my cassette, either." He'd probably find his room a mess, no doubt. And he'd know -- he'd know -- if one hair was out of place. "But it's not evidence against me if you're the one holding it--" And he waved it in front of Tom, ready to pass the flaming torch.
Just then, Peter appeared around the corner. Bucky bit back the laugh in his throat, the cassette held high in Steve's hand. "Too late for that one, Steve," he said, grinning despite the cruelty of Tom's prank. "And, no," he added to Tom as Steve blinked in Peter's direction and lowered the cassette. "It's been a long time since any of us had a reason to sing."
John:
John was sitting by the fireplace, looking into the flames as he sipped a hot chocolate.
(Yay, John's back XD)

Percival:
The man raised an eyebrow at Logan. Ah. So not an idiot. He had been wondering. Then again, he also hadn't been trying particularly hard. Tom had said he'd mentioned part of this to John. Honestly, one of the three of them had to lay some of their cards on the table sooner or later. He just had a feeling that this was not going to be a full discloser. "I like how you assume I'm not a mutant," Percival said with a chuckle. "You can really go wrong, assuming things like that all the time. But I wont confirm or deny it." Was saying that a confirmation or denial? Percival didn't think so. He liked to keep some mysteries about himself. "Pyro, you say? Probably wouldn't have gotten along with him." He did mean wouldn't. There was a very distinct different, but he wasn't going to explain that either. "I'm not the thrill seeker. To answer your question." Percival jabbed a thumb back in the direction of the party. "That would be Tom. The one baiting Peter Quill right now and clearly trying to see how much terror he can cause without actually angering anyone too badly." The older man smiled. "And I suppose weird obsession might be a varily good description in some circles. Not mine. But some. Here." He tossed the lighter at Logan. It was a good distraction from the fact that he hadn't actually answered one of the questions. "If you want to see an example, go anywhere on the grounds of this place. Any room. Behind any tree. Then light that. I'll know exactly where you are. Want to see?" Not like the fire inside wasn't playing living hell with his senses right now. There was a reason he was out here instead of in there.
---
Tom:
No evidence would be found in Steve's room. Not a hair would be out of place. Not a single one. And Tom just grinned as he called across the room to Peter, "I'm pretty sure it was Steve and Bucky!" Admittedly he hadn't intended the music to bring so many emotions out in Steve. That made him feel a bit guilty. But he was not going to say anything about it now. "That's rather unfortunate," he said to Bucky, leaving Peter to take on Steve while he skulked back a step so he was closer to Bucky and further away from the cassette. "Though I understand the reasoning. It's just a bit of a shame ... I could almost say that the fact there is a party going on now is enough." He waved his hand around and adjusted the sweater he had on with the other hand. "Could I perhaps convince anyone for Christmas carols, perhaps?"
---
Eveline:
Eveline was stoutly ignoring Tom and whatever the heck he was doing with the music. She was well aware it was him doing it. And also well aware he was just doing it out of boredom and for the attention. Shameful. She walked slowly across the room, glancing in Rocket's and Gamora's direction but not completely sure if they wanted to talk. She descended on a place by the fire and sat, arms close to her body. Her own dress, maybe not as stylish as Gamora's, was at least bright enough that the firelight reflected off it. She tugged at once sleeve, looking a bit tired. There were just some things she didn't know how to deal with and parties were one of them.

Logan:
"Are you a mutant?" Logan asked, staring at the man, his eyes narrowed with interest. Usually he had a pretty good eye for telling. But, he wasn't always right. In fact, there were many times that he'd been wrong and it had landed him in some pretty poor situations. But that was a story for another time. This man... he had to have been something given the way he was talking. Maybe not a mutant... but even a magician or a man cooked up in a lab, right?
Logan studied Percival, brushing his thoughts away for just a moment. "Regardless, Pyro was a bit of a... rebel, so none of us got along with him in the end, either. It wouldn't surprise me if you didn't like him. But, it's all about choices. He could have been good. We all can be good." Again, Logan found himself trying to understand the man before him. He seemed to be skilled at avoiding questions in a casual way. Logan might have dismissed it if he'd been anyone else; but, it wasn't something he could easily dismiss when it was a tactic he was used to using himself. Still, there were other ways of getting answers without having to ask.
He caught the lighter in one hand, then, and turned it over, running his fingers along the plastic. "So, speaking of choices," Logan began slowly, eyes lifting back towards the man who was proving more and more to be a mystery (and Logan quite hated mysteries, especially considering he, himself, was one, which frustrated him at the best and worst of times), "would doing as you ask be a good choice? Do you make good choices?"
Cap & Bucky & Peter:
"Christmas carols, Steve," Bucky said, looking to Steve with fake enthusiasm. "He wants us to sing Christmas carols!"
But Steve was looking at Peter as the space man advanced on them, and he hardly paid attention to whatever it was that Bucky or Tom was saying. With a calm face, he said, resting the cassette down on the side table, "You've got a good taste in music." In trying to avoid a fight, because, honestly, he didn't know how Peter really would react, he decided to appeal to the man's senses. It was a good tactic in debate, anyways. "Music, obviously, has changed quite a bit since my time. I could get used to your music, though."
Peter stopped in front of Tom, Steve, and Bucky. He tilted his head, eyes slightly narrowed. First his gaze landed upon Steve, seeing as he was the one holding the cassette, but then his eyes slid over to Bucky, who was shrugging, and then Tom, who appeared to be having way to much fun with this. Eyes back on Steve, he said, "Okay... but if you like my music so much, then why is it not playing?"
Steve let out a nervous laugh. "Ha. Right. That is a good question, isn't it? Eh, Buck? Must have just slid in the wrong tape. You know, technology these days." His eyes danced over to Bucky. Help me.
But Bucky just said to Steve, "Yeah, yeah, it is a good question." And his eyes slid on over to Tom. His eyebrows practically disappeared into his hair as he repeated to Tom, "Wouldn't you agree, Tom? Why is Peter's music no longer playing?"
John:
The flames reflected in his eyes, and his vision began to blur from staring so long without blinking. He finally did blink, though. And, stupidly, just the thought of blinking made him think of Clarice. He couldn't help it. He let out a sigh, and he rested his hot chocolate on his lap, hands wrapped around the mug. Not even a second later, movement caught the corner of his eye. Without having to look over, he knew who it was. But his eyes slid over in Eveline's direction, anyways, and brushed his long hair out of his eyes with one hand. "You don't like the party?" John asked casually. "Or, maybe you just aren't a fan of holidays?"

(Sorry for disappearing again I think I might have an unhealthy tendency to do that) Gamora and Rocket:And... there he went. Off to pick fights with whoever dared change his music. Peter. Gamora watched the scene boiling for a moment, then turned and looked down at Rocket with her eyebrows raised. He looked up at her with a snort of amusement. Figuring it best to just leave those boys to sort things out themselves, Gamora took a step toward the door and asked Rocket, "Coming?" "No, I wanna see who wins this," Rocket replied with a smirk. He turned back to watch Peter advancing on the helpless Steve and Bucky. Those two were certainly in for it. He might even feel sorry for them if their unfortunate situation wasn't so hilarious. "Alright," Gamora regressed, smiling herself as she walked out the door. What was the point of a party if those idiots went off and caused trouble every time? This had happened on Halloween, and now Christmas, and she was honestly used to it at this point. Gamora headed into the main room the party was taking place in, glancing around at the glowing and sparkling decorations adorning the place before deciding to take a seat. She figured Peter and the others would be out eventually. She couldn't help but wonder if part of the reason Peter seemed easily riled up by the others lately was because he missed the way things were. Travelling across the galaxy with just his ship and his friends, doing good and a little bit of bad. Instead, he'd been cooped up here on Earth for a while with the Avengers. Granted, it wasn't that bad, but even good things one could have too much of. A voice sounding nearby pulled Gamora from her thoughts. She'd inadvertantly taken a seat near John and Eveline, who now seemed to be starting a conversation. She hoped she wasn't intruding, but still wondered what it was they were talking about.

(I too disappeared. Family time and all. ^^ )
Percival:
"Rather more direct question," Percival said, sounding like he approved. "But I like keeping the air of mystery. It annoys people. I'm sure you'd be able to figure what I am eventually." He hated this. He hated being the one who had to flaunt his ... unusual quirks. But he was safe here ... for now. There was no way that any of this would get out to the people that really mattered. There were already people here that mattered and he was a bit more concerned about their well-being. "Hum," said Percival, with a tone of voice that suggested that he would very much like to be sipping a hot beverage and hiding a smile behind the rim of the cup. "I try to make good choices," he answered simply. "That's all you can expect from most people. But I assume you were asking whether I succeed in making them. I do - for the most part. I help more than I harm, and the harm I cause I attempt to remedy. That's the best I can say. As for whether doing as I ask is a good choice, I can't see any negative repercussions. It was more of a fun game." And slightly a distraction. Logan seemed board and so was Percival to an extent.
---
Tom:
"I do indeed," said Tom, completely ignoring the fake enthusiasm in favor of considering it real. As Tom was suddenly added to the spotlight thanks to Bucky, Tom waved a hand and pointed at Peter. "Very good question. Indeed. I do have to wonder why you're forwarding the question to me. I know how technology works and I wasn't here to witness this slip-up." Tom held up both hands in a shrug. His voice sounded truthful, though he might have been looking at Peter just slightly more than he should have been. "Maybe just put it back in, hum? Or put on some Christmas music with a bit more energy, perhaps? Just a suggestion. Christmas carols and all." Just a suggestion.
---
Eveline: Blinking, Eveline turned to look back at Gamora as she came to be over by the fire as well. But she answered John's question easily enough. "Parties are too busy. I generally do better one on one." Then her cheeks flushed a bit. She wasn't good at talking to people. She knew that very, very well. Her eyes focused on Gamora again. "What about you?" Her voice was full of curiosity - both for the reason John had removed himself from the main crowd and why Gamora had. In the case of Gamora at least, she had friends.
