(Whoops. I'm so late checking in. These last two days have been busy. Eye doctor and then a half day trip out of town. I should be back now.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Okay, if it matters, here's my OC description, though there may be small secrets about them that are not listed.
I have no idea where to insert Tom other than wherever the most trouble is. Ha ha. He'll get there. Maybe he'll crash an airplane or something on the Avenger's Base to get your attention. I have nooooo clue.
Eveline Farbanks | 30 years | Computer Engineer | Female | Physical Description ;; Eveline is a short woman who appears to be just into adulthood (despite her actual age), with long frizzy hair. Her hair is combed behind her ears and pulled into a pony tail because she doesn't like when it tickles her chin. Her eyes are a pale black-blue, like old bruises. She has bronze colored skin and usually wears jeans and a sweatshirt, which is most often gray or brown. She likes wearing tennis shoes, which are always impeccably clean. Personality Description;; She has trouble with interacting with others, but doesn't mind talking with them to learn what she wants. However, many times she's left out of activities because she does not feel she can interact well. She feels like she is a loner, but has a small circle of friends that she likes to hang out with. She has this pit of loneliness inside herself that she can't get rid of, and is really sad sometimes. She's good at housekeeping, and is good with making broken technology work again. She's a good writer, and can usually use her skills to find information she needs. She has too much interest in finding information and ends up getting caught up in things because of it. Likes to travel.
Thomas 'Tom' Larton -- Doesn't really state age, but looks 25 -- Male
Blond haired male, looks about 25. His hair is short, straight, and messy, mostly because he runs his hands through it. Likes to wear old t-shirts with various logos or words on them. Other than that, usually wears jeans. He has pale, olive skin, like he's just a little too sun-bleached. His eyes are brown. -- Is generally kind and understanding. Will listen to the little problems people have and is patient enough. However, he has a tendency to jump head-first into any sort of problem he faces, as if he gets bored too easily and he can't live without a little danger. Knows Eveline and was in a relationship with her in the past. Whether he still has feeling for her is debatable, since he now doesn't really get along with her.
I'd claim a character, but it'll probably be from the comics if I do because it looks like all the movie characters are claimed to some extent. ^^ )

John ProudstarShe caught the darn milk carton. She caught it. John gritted his teeth together and waited for all of the doors to close. His eyes just briefly glanced over at the milk carton that Eveline had placed on her knees. The whole reason he had thrown the carton out was because he didn't want to see it. His eyes drifted up towards Eveline's face, wondering if there was something she wasn't telling any of them. Like, hmm, maybe quick reflexes? A mutant ability? And the fact that she was suddenly avoiding eye contact didn't help. "You want to tell me about that?" he asked, raising his eyes slightly as he turned the key -- yes, the key was still in the car -- and started the ignition. He moved his foot to the gas, and he gently rolled the car forward. Even though he'd never been there before, he knew exactly where he was going. It wouldn't be long before they were at the Avengers base, especially since there wasn't going to be any traffic. "About what?" Eveline asked dully. As if she didn't know. After a second of letting the question hang in the air, she pointed at the milk container. "My ex used to throw things a lot. I got good at catching them." Which was true. Speaking of her ex. She fumbled her phone out of her pocket and looked over her contacts. Aliissa ... Percival ... Tom. How many of them were still with her? She didn't text Tom first. She started at the top and started working her way down. She got relieved texts soon enough ... but only from about half of the contents of her phone. A tightness in her thought betrayed her hurried thought that attempted to reassure her. It wasn't working. "How long does it take to get there?" she asked, not looking up. She was texting a couple of the people she knew, asking them to check on the ones who were ... who were probably ... John wasn't the only one who lost people. She already knew that.

Numb.
The feeling of not feeling anything; the emotional state of everything being gone and just being replaced with an emptiness. There was blood on her hands and covered up her arms, staining her somewhat short hair once again as she sat on the couch that was located in the Avengers’ base. She lost the few that were really close to her, and genuinely found herself crying over losing her brother who had found it within himself to change.
Amongst the red that covered her arms and hands was a sort of dust, having latched onto Borya in a frantic manner and having begged him not to leave her in their mother tongue. All Borya did was smile and told her to be the best she could be before drifting along the wind. Her minty colored eyes were red and puffy, her head lifting when she heard the faint boot steps of Viktor as he approached. The mutant lost Logan- as she did- the brother at a loss and otherwise unsure of what to do now. They were practically immortal, having survived America’s civil war, two world wars, and so many more. So when he himself was simply sitting down by her feet like a cat, it was then Alyona knew there was not much hope. Viktor laid his head in her lap, not daring to touch her otherwise as the mutant listened to her soft crying noises. She lost Bucky too- in which see knew Steve lost him as well. Speaking of who, Alyona inhaled sharply, swiping her nose and smearing dirt and red over her mouth and cheeks as she opted to shift the large male below her off her lap. Her soft thumps across the floor was picked up by Viktor’s sensitive hearing, although softened as she faltered.
“Steve?” Alyona’s soft voice croaked out. It was the first time since arriving from Wakanda that she spoke. So when she inhaled sharply yet again, she gave another soft cry for the blonde in hopes to find comfort in him. He wasn’t Bucky nor was he Logan- but he was something she was desperately searching for and her powers were draining her energy with each moment she used it to look for him.

(Sorry, but… I kind of unintentionally wrote a whole thousand word novel starter. Oops. cx’ Most of it isn't actually rping with anyone, just summarizing. Because Captain Marvel + the Snap = my heart breaking. But spoilers if you haven't seen the movie yet, because I don't know who hasn't seen it on this thread.) Captain Marvel:A lot could happen over the course of 24 years.
For Carol Danvers, this was especially the case.
When she'd said she would help the Skrulls find a home and put an end to the Supreme Intelligence and its war, she'd meant it. Whether she'd actually succeeded yet or not. Truthfully, finding all the Skrulls was harder than she'd thought it would be. They were a people determined to stay alive, and had resorted to rooting themselves in some of the most secret places to do so. Also, warning the Kree exactly what she was up to had just made them fight even harder to stop her, even putting one or two of their other wars on hold with peace treaties to focus more on her. Taking on an entire empire alone hadn't been easy.
Carol definitely had made progress. Most of the Skrulls had been found and reunited again, and she'd brought them to a temporary place to set up camp for a while as she sought out the rest. Where there was progress, though, there were also setbacks. She could only travel so quickly, lightspeed only took her so far, and the first camp had been closer to the outskirts of the Kree's dominated planets to shorten her trips into them and keep her away for less time. This had allowed the Kree to eventually find them, resulting in the Skrulls needing to move once again, their old civilization in flames. Carol didn't make that mistake again, but now her missions were longer, leaving the Skrulls unprotected each time. To make up for this, Carol also went out of her way to keep the Kree off their scent, which actually worked well. Occasionally, she let some enthusiastic Skrulls from camp come along as well, and they actually proved quite helpful. Talos’ daughter was usually one of them, now fully grown. Carol knew she would be a great leader one day. Honestly, it was a bit strange for Carol, watching her friends grow older around her while she hardly aged at all, due to the Kree blood in her veins.
One day, though, Carol had been arriving back at camp after another mission when everything had gone wrong. She had just landed one of her ships right outside the young city, had taken a few steps toward Talos’ home to report her recent success to him, when his daughter crumbled into a pile of ash beside her. It was completely unexpected, out of the blue, with no explanation as to how. Carol didn't know what to do but panic. She turned tail and raced into camp, down streets, through alleyways, the small town having quickly grown over the years as more and more Skrulls arrived. And everywhere she went, people who had come outside to see her return at last faded away before her eyes. It was like a nightmare that kept getting worse no matter how hard she tried to wake up. Every street littered with ash of those she'd brought here to be safe, to be free, not just to die with her having no idea why. And to think it couldn't get any worse, when she hurtled up the steps to Talos’ porch and burst through the doorway, she was greeted by the sight of her friend in the kitchen, a shattered plate on the floor, staring down at all that was left of his wife in his hands. He looked as if he'd seen a ghost, his violet eyes wide, his green face pale, mirroring the confusion and the terror that Carol herself felt. When he turned to look up at her, he looked like he had lost the ability to speak.
“It's happening everywhere,” Carol breathed out, her voice quavering. “All over camp. Half of everyone is gone.” But when Talos asked about his daughter, Carol couldn't find the words to tell him that she was gone as well. She could only give him a look of sorrow and regret that she hadn't been able to prevent it. That she'd failed to protect his people like she'd promised she would.
What kind of cruel twist of reality was this? What had caused it? Carol had just started to wonder if the Kree had developed some sort of remote vaporizing technology when the pager on her belt buzzed.
Ever since Carol had left Earth with Fury in possession of a matching one and instructions only to contact her in an emergency, she had never gone anywhere without the pager at hand. And the fact that Fury had decided to call her now, at the exact time when half of the Skrull population had vanished, could be no coincidence. Carol reached down and pulled the pager off her belt, and sure enough, she saw the familiar old S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on its screen.
“It's Fury,” Carol told Talos, looking back up to meet his gaze, and one shared glance between them told Carol they'd realized the same thing.
This was no act of the Kree. This was affecting Earth as well, and with it, surely every corner of the universe between them. This was something worse than they could ever imagine. And all Talos had to say for Carol to know what to do was, “Go.”
Carol had acted at once. She'd hated to leave the Skrulls like this—there were already so few of them left, and losing another half was a blow she didn't know how they'd recover from—but she trusted Talos to lead them through it. She needed to go to Earth, find whoever had caused this, and put an end to them. Which was exactly what she did. She had followed the source of the call for help from Fury's pager to Earth, and now she was hovering over a city nearby where it had come from. Streams of photon energy from her hands and feet kept her afloat.
Carol remembered vaguely where she was from the bits and pieces of her childhood on Earth she still knew. New York City. And though she didn't remember it well, all it took was one look for her to know something was off. The buildings were shrouded in a thick fog, the streets were nearly empty, dozens upon dozens of ships were crowded around the Statue of Liberty as if to cling onto the one last symbol of hope there was left.
It seemed her hunch had been correct. Whatever had happened to the Skrulls had affected everyone.
(PS: I think I discovered a new bonding point for Carol and Thor. Both the Skrulls and the Asgardians: - numbers have been extremely depleted already - the Snap made it twice as worse - home planet has been destroyed and are looking for a new one - also they're the leaders of these groups, or they sort of help lead - they are now seeking revenge on Thanos because of them So yeah. Marvel better mention this parallel in Endgame.) (So, TLDR: she's in New York City a few days/a week after the Snap if anyone wants to jump in!) (Do you think we should update the thread title to "Endgame spoilers" instead because of where our rp's going? Because I'm adding onto my starter, but the earlier description of NYC was actually a scene in the trailer from 5 years later, not days later, so just ignore it I guess)
Captain Marvel:
Carol was only able to pry her gaze away from the image of desolation and confusion and despair that was New York City when the pager buzzed on her belt again. As if its matching one had sent out a distress call again when she hadn't shown up yet. Fury was clearly desperate for her to come. And, honestly, she could see why. Something terrible had affected what could only be the entire universe, because why would someone target Earth and the remote, hidden Skrull camp if they weren't simply targeting everyone? And by targeting, Carol knew this must mean the disappearances. Half of every Skrull turning into dust was half of all people turning to dust. And that was exactly the thing to make Fury repeatedly contact her on his pager.
So, Carol took her pager from her belt and checked again the exact source of the call. It was in a different place this time. Somewhere further upstate, away from the city. She would get there as quickly as possible. Well, not lightspeed, now that she was actually on Earth, but still quickly. Carol fastened the pager back in its place and leapt into action, firing a huge burst of photon energy from her feet to propel her over the city. As she shot over the buildings, she looked down at the streets passing by below. After a crisis like this, Carol wondered why there were still so many cars on the road, but when she watched closer she realized: none of them were moving. They were empty, abandoned, many having lost their drivers and crashed into others before they could stop. Accidents upon accidents upon accidents. Everywhere. Those who were lucky enough not to have crashed were still trapped between the wreckage, effectively making every street useless. And such a mess would be nearly impossible to clear away.
Suppressing a shudder, Carol pushed faster over the city, and soon the skyscrapers became small buildings, the buildings grew increasingly dispersed, and soon were replaced by wide stretches of forest with fewer roads cutting through. To help her keep an easier sense of direction, Carol followed the wide river that cut in from the city harbor and continued into the state, though for the life of her she couldn't remember its name. Still, the pager told her the destination was somewhere along this river, and after a few minutes of soaring high over the water, she finally reached it. And as she slowed to a stop and hovered over the river, studying the place, she knew for certain it was the one. The place where she could find answers. Find Fury.
It was a large facility that stretched slightly over the river, a cluster of buildings with white walls and many windows in an enormous clearing from the surrounding forest. Behind it was an equally huge aircraft hangar–no, now wasn't the time to be excited by what types of sweet rides might be inside, the world was in danger–but what stood out most was the single letter emblazoned on various places: "A."

John Proudstar:
John angled his eyes towards Eveline. Really? his eyes asked. He let out a sigh, moving his attention back to the quiet street as he listened to her speak. "So, you don't have mutant powers or anything, you know, that you're hiding from us?" he asked. "Because now wouldn't be the time to keep secrets. I know we just met and all, but we're going to need all the help we can get in this fight, and we also need people we can trust. Can we trust you?" There was silence for a bit, and then he heard her ask him how long it would take to get there. He glanced over at her to see that she wasn't even looking at him. She was texting. Right. Which brought back the question of trust again. What was she telling this other person? And could he trust them, too? And then, all at once, it dawned on him. Maybe she was trying to figure this whole thing out, too, figure out who she'd lost, who was still here. He frowned and turned away from her again. "We'll get there when we get there," he told her quietly.
John continued to drive, listening to the Eveline texting away, the silence, the hum of the car, the wind rushing by his open windows. He could hear everything in the silence magnified, and it was starting to drive him crazy. He turned up the radio and listened to that for the rest of the drive until the silver buildings of the Avengers base rolled into view. John's hand went to the volume dial, and he slowly turned off the music. He glanced briefly at the others in the back seat and then his eyes slid over to Eveline beside him. "We're here," he told her, slowly the car so that he could get a good look at the place. Only ever in stories had he heard of the Avengers. He just hoped that they were open to visitors. Otherwise, this was going to be awkward.

Captain America:
"Steve...?" He'd watched Bucky disappear, and there had been nothing he could do. He'd watched helplessly, for once in his life, helplessly, as Thanos succeeded and his friends turned to dust. Steve's mind kept reliving the moment that Bucky disappeared, the moment that he realized he'd lost more than just his friend from childhood but his new friends as well: Sam, T'Challa, Logan, Wanda, Vision... The list was too long to keep repeating in his mind, and he hated that he hadn't been able to say goodbye to any of them. Even Tony and Peter, people he hadn't seen since the fight in Germany, were gone, and that stung, too. What had they all done to deserve this? Had they not been good enough? Steve felt like it was his fault, like he hadn't been good enough. Like maybe all those people who told them that they were wrong, that they shouldn't be fighting these fights were right... because soon enough it would catch up to them. And it did. Or, at least, Thanos did. "Oh, God," he had muttered with tears in his eyes when he'd realized they'd lost, that they'd lost, that they'd lost. And he still felt it. "Oh, God."
He couldn't stop hearing the voices in his mind of all the people they'd lost, and he couldn't stop seeing their faces. Trying their best had always been good enough, until it wasn't. Because the bad guys won. Steve lifted his head from his hands, his eyes red from the tears that had become permanent. He wasn't the only one feeling like this. Everyone was in a state of numbness and stasis. But it didn't make him feel any better. In fact, the thought made him feel worse. If he could have taken on the burden of everyone else on the team, he would have. He was the leader, the one who was supposed to keep all of them safe, to keep all of them out of harm's way. But he had led them into a bloodbath instead. They did what they had to do -- and he knew that they wouldn't have chosen any different, that they would have done it again if they had too, that it was always going to be them against Thanos, them fighting to save the world -- but he had expected a different outcome. All those years ago, he had told the Avengers that whatever happened, they'd win together or lose together. But, he'd never expected to actually lose.
Steve pushed himself up from where he had been sitting on the edge of his bed, still neatly made up, for he hadn't been able to sleep, and walked down the hall. Even his footsteps sounded loud as he walked, echoing off the walls, as if to remind him how empty and lonely they all were, how depressing everything felt. He didn't know how any of them were going to get back from this, but they'd have to try, right? Even now, Steve was trying to think of how they could get their friends back. He wasn't going to give up, even as terrible and hopeless as he felt. There'd be a way to get everyone back and fix what had happened because... there had to be a way. Otherwise, what was this life now but a nightmare and a reminder?
He wiped his eyes as he walked and tucked his hands in his pockets. As he approached one of the rooms, he heard his name. Steve lifted his head, and he saw Alyona and Viktor. He managed a weak smile and walked towards them. "Hey," he said. He could have asked how they were holding up, but he could see it in their faces and he could feel the emotion radiating off of Alyona. He knew exactly how they were feeling because he felt it too.

( It has been a HOT minute since I used the old forums, a year or two before they closed, so I don’t remember my name exactly, but I think it was “jayfeather” or something else, yanno, HIGHLY original aha. No shame in my game, I was an avid lover of Jayfeather, I guess.
