Caring Hearts Kit Cave (OPEN!)

Moonblaze liked that trade. She adored this kit. "Well I'm only 16 old so I haven't been a warrior for that long. I grew up in my clan and love them all very much. Socializing comes as easy as breathing to me and I always love making a new friend." She ran paw over her ear. "You?"

Willowkit thought for a moment. "Uh...I'm 4 moons old—almost five," she announced first. "I love to help out the caretakers however I can, and they let me take care of the younger kits sometimes because they say I'm really responsible! I like to play with the young kits and take care of them, and I always look out for new arrivals," she declared in a tone that suggested no arrogance.

Nightrose's eyes lit up at the mention of Mothkit's happy life. "That's wonderful!" She purred. "And I'm glad to see you back. Do you have a task in mind you'd like to start with?" She asked cheerily.

"Well aren't you a sweet little girl." Moonblaze purred. She made careful note of everything the kitten said, liking what she heard

Willowkit smiled gently at the praise. "Well, thanks," she purred. "Honestly, it's so much fun to take care of the younger kits that I really don't mind doing it. Actually, I think I want to be a caretaker someday."

"Of course," Nightrose purred, turning around and sweeping across the cave, careful to ensure that Tawnyfur was following. Reaching the nearest wall, which was covered in a series of small, interconnected dens lined inside and out with moss, she paused and indicated it with her tail. "First off, this is the nursery area. The kits sleep here at night or if they need a quick rest during the day. Ideally, we'd keep one worker in every den, but as we're a bit short at the moment, just sleep in whichever den you like; the kits will know how to find you." She paused, fixing her gaze warmly on Tawnyfur. "Does that make sense? Any questions before we move on?"

"That makes sense." Tawnyfur mewed. She paused for a second, raising a paw. "One question. Are there any kits that have any problems, like they're scared of the dark, or have special illnesses? Or, are there any kits that tend to try to sneak out at night? I would want to keep an eye on them."

Fishkit looked up, blinking curiously at the stranger situated before him. "Hello," he replied politely, remembering his manners after a moment of quiet. "I- I'm Fishkit. Who are you?"

"Many of the kits get scared from time to time," Nightrose replied. "Most of them will come find you, but you may want to watch Toadkit and Dewkit especially carefully—nights can be hard for them. As far as sneaking out," she added, her gaze trailing across the collection of kits scattered across the cave. She smiled slightly. "Sunkit, Littlekit, and Charkit often try it. Oh, and Vixenkit is allowed out at night as long as she stays in the cave. She gets restless," she explained.

"Thanks," Willowkit replied, her smile widening. "What do you do in your clan mostly? I mean, what's your favorite part of being in your clan?"

The question got Moonblaze thinking. "Well I love so much about clan life." She admitted. "But hunting or border patrols are probably my favorite. There is nothing more satisfying to me other than bringing home something to feed those I care about more than anything."

Nightrose smiled. "Great." Standing up again, she followed along the line of the wall, continuing the tour. "Over here we have the medicine den," she remarked, gesturing to another, larger den with her tail. "I don't know if you've learned any healing, but all the workers who have take shifts in there. If sick kits need to sleep inside, a worker will also stay with them. And over there," she finished, indicating the only other den in the space. It looked empty. "That's the den for guests who come to stay with us. There's no one there right now, and they're usually no trouble, but occasionally we get a visitor." She turned warmly back to Tawnyfur, the quick tour complete. "Anything else you'd like to know?"

"That sounds really nice," Willowkit replied with a purr. "I learned a bit of hunting, but I can't wait to get old enough to really train; I hate sitting around in the cave, eating prey and not being able to help find any in exchange."

"Oh, I'm fine," Fishkit replied, perking up slightly now that Shadowfur had introduced himself. He's here for me! He thought with a little thrill of interest. "I've just been sitting around the cave today, daydreaming and whatnot."

Jade Shadowfur chuckled. "Yes, I myself love to daydream. I don't have as much time as I used to, but sometimes I get in a few moments. What kinds of things do you like to do for fun, Fishkit?" He tipped his head to one side out of curiosity.

"Whenever you have a bit of time or when the prey pile starts to look a bit low," Nightrose replied. "We've found that with this many kits always needing something, a regular schedule kind of falls apart." She swished her tail, chuckling fondly.

Fishkit's eyes widened just slightly, betraying his excitement at being asked just the right question to get him talking. "Swimming!" He replied enthusiastically. "It's my favorite thing in the world."

"It really is," Nightrose chuckled. "But I wouldn't have it any other way; it's the best job, taking care of them all." She lifted her head. "You'll see."

"I usually let the adopters introduce themselves to the kits," Nightrose replied. "They tend to be particular about how they meet their possible future kits, so it's better to leave it to them and keep an eye out. As far as misbehaving kits, explaining the problem—or a time-out if they're being especially stubborn—usually does just fine. If you find yourself having trouble, though, you can always bring them to see me."

Nightrose looked up at the sound of Lilacsnow's approach, murmuring a quick apology to Tawnyfur. "Hello!" She purred. "I'm Nightrose, the owner of this cave, and this is Tawnyfur, one of our workers. I'm so glad to hear it. Do you have a kit in mind that you'd like to get to know?"

"Yeah, there is!" Fishkit purred. "It's a little ways away, so I'm not allowed to go alone, but I have you. I'll show you where it is," he declared, marching toward the entrance of the cave before pausing to ensure that Shadowfur was following. "I'm usually terrible at navigating," he chuckled, "but I can always find the water."
