"Uh, yeah," Swoopkit replied unconvincingly, not wanting to stop beaming with pride at the older cats' impressed tones despite not actually knowing how to fish. Still, he was sure he could figure it out on the fly.
Nightrose's eyes sparkled. "Wonderful! Rosekit is right over there," she purred, flicking her dark tail in the direction of a small kit sitting alone near a patch of ferns. "Good luck--she's very sweet, but she takes a little time to warm up. You'll love her, though," the she-cat promised.

"Okay is there anywhere we can go fishing in here?" Basilwhisker asked.
"I would love to go fishing it's been ages since I've done it." Snowdapple said.

"There's a little pond just outside the cave," Swoopkit replied, already moving toward the exit, his ears perking up. He knew the way by heart, though he'd never tried to fish there. "Come on!"
Rosekit looked up, her eyes unreadable and a bit cold as she quietly watched Thunderlake approach. She shuffled in an attempt to hide her spikes, though it was mostly futile. "H- hello," She mumbled back, dipping her head politely.

Snowdapple followed Swoopkit excited to be able to fish again.
Basilwhisker walked nonchalantly after them making sure Snowdapple didn't run into anyone.

"Hello young one. My name is Thunderlake." The she-cat said gently, sitting down in an attempt to make Rosekit feel more comfortable around her.

Swoopkit plodded across the ground, leading the way to the small body of water just a short ways into the woods. He sped up his pace, letting his paws fly across the ground as he raced through the forest and finally stopped at the water's edge. "Here!" He called.
Rosekit forced a smile. "Hello," she replied quietly, gazing up at Thunderlake with wide, curious eyes. "Your name sounds like you're a warrior. What clan are you from?"

Snowdapple trotted after Swoopkit. She sat down at the waters edge and waited to see fish.
Basilwhisker stood back to watch Swoopkit fish and give pointers.

Swoopkit peered at the water, searching for any silvery flickers in its depths. His tail twitched slightly, but he did his best to try to hide his fidgeting. Finally, probably out of sheer luck, a shape flashed across his vision, and the young tom slashed out with his claws, leaning forward far enough to almost send him inro the water. "Mousedung!" He spat, his eyes blazing.

"I'm from a Clan called JayClan but I used to be a loner." She responded, looking down at Rosekit with gleaming eyes. "My name used to be Thunder and I used to rescue many kits." She smiled, remembering all the kits she had rescued. "I love them like my own."

Swoopkit bristled, stepping back from the edge, his eyes blazing as embarrassment warmed his fur. "Bad luck," He mumbled, not willing to admit his lack of skill.
Rosekit's ears perked, and she looked up, unable to contain a flicker of curiosity. "You rescued kits?" She echoed. "How?"

"Yes it was." Snowdapple vturned to the water. She saw a fish flit by. She reached in hooking it and brought it out giving it a killing bite.

"Some I adopted out of kit-caves like this one. Of course they didn't need much rescuing because they were in safe paws but they were so much happier with a family." Thunderlake paused to let it sink in. "Some I found alone without any parents to care for them so I took them in."

Swoopkit watched Snowdapple, his eyes narrowing as he took in her every move, committing them to memory so his sharp mind could hopefully emulate them. "You hook the fish with your claws and--scoop?" He ventured, trying out the move he had seen her do in the air.
Rosekit's eyes flashed with something like fear at the thought of kits living without parents just as she had before coming to the cave. "That's very...nice of you," she added, knowing the word wasn't nearly precise enough but unable to think of a better one. "Do they all live together, like at a kit cave?" She asked.

Rosekit nodded thoughtfully, a small smile spreading across her face despite her best efforts to keep a look of neutrality. It might be fun to live in a clan full of other kits—provided that they were nice. "How many of them are there?" She asked a bit less meekly.
Swoopkit bristled but did his best to hide it. "I...do," I lied, puffing out his chest in an attempt to look more formidable. For all of his parading and cunning, he had never been a particularly good liar. "I was just...checking."

"Well let's see..." I have more than I care to admit. Thunderlake thought, thinking of her own two litters on top of all her rescued kits. "Some of them are full grown but I have a new litter of kits. But my full grown kits love to play with their younger siblings." She paused, letting that information sink in before continuing. "My adopted kits are Cloudshine, Sheeptail, and Jaywing. My first litter is Silvermoon, Sunheart, and Shadowrunner." Again she paused, but this time she was out of breath. "My latest litter consists of Dapplekit, Sleetkit, Rainkit, and Icekit. I love them all to death."

Rosekit's eyes widened slightly in amazement. "Wow!" She replied, flicking her tail. "That's a lot of kits!" Would they be mean to me? She wondered, her eyes darkening slightly, but her hope for a good answer forced the question. "Are they- are they nice?" She asked shyly.
Swoopkit nodded pridefully, not wanting to show anything but confidence, and stepped up to the edge of the water, which he practically snarled at. Unsheathing his claws, he waited impatiently for a fish to come close. When a flicker of silver finally appeared below him, he reached down and swiped up with all of his might, flipping the fish messily into the air by some stroke of luck, and pounced on it as fast as he could. "Got it!" He yowled, ignoring the fact that this was hardly a skilled catch on his part.

"Oh yes. Jaywing and Shadowrunner can be a bit rude sometimes but they've just been through a lot. They truly care about their family." Thunderlake purred, thinking of her two sons. "And my newest litter reminds me a lot of you."

Swoopkit preened, puffing out his chest as he stared down at his catch. "See? I told you I could fish!" He chuckled slightly, for once aware of the flimsy merit behind his words.

"They're always so curious about everything and really sweet to everyone. Icekit can be... distant but she is always nice to the other kits. Rainkit can be all about business and protecting the ones he loves but he secretly loves to play mossball." Thunderlake purred, thinking about her kits at home. "Sleetkit is so gentle and loves to learn everything he can. Dapplekit just loves to have fun but she's almost as gentle as her brother."

Swoopkit blushed under his fur and stepped back from the pebble, "I was focused," He mumbled, trying to feign perfection though he knew he had slipped up. "It's the pebble's fault." Still, he stepped back and--quietly this time--leaped for the pebble, landing squarely on top of it and digging in with his claws. Nightrose looked up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, her eyes lighting up. "Hello!" She purred, bustling over and greeting the she-cat with a wave of her tail. "Welcome to Caring Hearts!" She purred. "I'm Nightrose. Would you like to meet one of the kits?" "Wow!" Lavenderkit purred, her eyes sparkling with amazement, then blushed pink at the compliment. "Thank you!" She purred, shuffling them a bit more and twisting around in an attempt to see them. "I'm not too good at flying yet, but I'll figure it out someday," She chuckled. "Does your cave have winged kits?" "We do." Willowstep answered. "There are actually plenty of winged kits back at Glowing paws. Some can fly pretty well but most are still learning like you." Willowstep grinned. "My turn to ask a question. Do you have a lot of friends here?"

"Okay," Swoopkit replied with a shrug. Shifting back to the water, he stared at it, his eyes gleaming as he searched for the telltale flash of silver. Finally, his eyes widened, and he swiped, this time trying to use the technique that he had seen his companions use. Though he missed the fish and it flopped back into the water, his gaze was triumphant when he turned to Snowdapple. "I almost got it," He announced, something about his tone clearly less upset than usual.
"They sound so nice," Rosekit mused, taking a tentative step closer to Thunderlake. "I think I'd like them. And mossball is my favorite," she admitted with a slight laugh. "Maybe Rainkit and the others would let me play with them."
Lavenderkit preened, her eyes lighting up at the question; as curious as she was, she loved talking about herself. "Oh, tons of friends," she purred. "All the kits here are so nice! My best friends are probably Brightkit, Sparrowkit, Smudgekit, and..." The she-kit blushed slightly, giggling. "And Sunkit."
