Hello, and welcome to Ultimate Survival! This is a jump-in roleplay, but it's run a little differently than most roleplays. Rather than you having an infinite time to hop on in, you have a limited amount of time. The amount of time remaining, if joining is open, will be posted in the title in hours. During that timeframe, you can "jump in" by posting with the descriptions of your characters. However, character creation isn't just "here's so and so". Even that is different, which I'll explain in a bit.
So how does this roleplay work? What is it about?
This roleplay, as the title might have suggested, is a survival roleplay. It doesn't take place in any specific Clan, Tribe, or rogue group. Rather, your cats are members of a society known simply as The Cult. The Cult allows only the strongest, smartest cats into its highest ranks. To determine who is the strongest, smartest, most capable of a generation, groups of cats who are roughly the same age are placed together on a large island full of hazards. The cats will be left there for an indefinite amount of time, and will only be allowed off as individuals when an individual proves themselves to be exceptionally smart, strong, and adaptable.
The cats do not know each other upon being placed on the island, and have no way off until The Cult brings them home again or they die. The island, as mentioned before, is full of danger. Water is scarce, leading to fierce competition over what few springs and streams there are. Large predators prowl the forests, birds of prey soar overhead, poisonous plants cover the ground, violent storms are frequent, and landslides and rockfalls on the mountain are common. In the end, only the best will survive.
Disasters happen randomly based on a virtual dice roll that I make 1-2 times a day. If I get a two or a four, no disaster will happen. If I get an odd number, a minor to moderate disaster (such as a bird of prey attack that affects maybe two cats) will occur. If I roll a six, then a major disaster will happen so long as one has not occurred in the past 48 hours or is in progress.
Once I roll, I will post the result along with a list of the cats who will be involved. If you own that cat, then you must commit to having them participate in the disaster. If your cat is not on the list, you may choose whether or not they are involved as long as it's reasonable. For example, having your cat respond to a bird attack on the opposite side of the island just like that is not reasonable.
Your cat's weaknesses and strengths will determine how likely they are to die in a given disaster. I use a random name generator to determine who dies. Generally, no cat will die in a minor disaster, one *might* die in a moderate, and 2-3+ will die in a big disaster. Depending on the disaster, your cat's weaknesses and strengths will affect them differently in regards to the name generator and how many times their name is put in.
For example:
Appletail has a keen sense of smell and is an amazing swimmer, but is awkward on land and a slow runner. If a predator, such a jaguar, were to attack them, they obviously would fare worse because they are cumbersome on land and not very fast. Therefore, they would have their name put in more times than, say, a skilled, powerful fighter. Now, if a major storm were to raise the tide and flood the beaches, they would fare better as a strong swimmer and would have their name put in only once. Their condition and who they are with at the time of the disaster also affects the number of times they get put in the generator. For example, if Appletail was with a group at the time of the jaguar attack, then her name might go in four times instead of six, which would be a reasonable number if she were, say, with only one other cat. If she were sick or injured, the amount of times her name was in would only increase. If she were alone, I'd roll a dice instead. Odd number, death. Even number, survival.
This "anyone can die at any time" style of roleplay raises the stakes. Your cat's time to do and accomplish things is limited. The choices are endless, but the time to do them is not. Will your cat fall in love, or are they destined to forever be a hopeless romantic? Will they dare to have a family on the island? Will they stick with a group for safety, or will they keep to themselves out of fear of being backstabbed? Will they be a lover or a murderer? Will they help another in need to gain a useful ally, or leave them to their own devices? Those questions are up to you to answer as you wish.
So how are characters made?
When you join, you'll be allowed to choose the gender, sexuality, name, and appearance of your character. However, the rest is up to randomness. When you join, you'll be asked to pick a series of numbers. The numbers you choose will be added up and then halved, and the end result will direct me to a personality, weaknesses, and strengths for your cat. You must use whatever comes out of your numbers.
How do I join?
I only want mature, semi-advanced to advanced roleplayers. I want people who understand how to roleplay a character in a survival scenario and develop them properly. Obviously, a character in a life or death situation is not going to be happy and full of laughter all the time. They're going to be scared. Scared cats do all sorts of reckless things, but sometimes fear also brings out the best in someone.
I expect nothing less than excellent grammar and at least eight detailed sentences per post. Use each of your characters appropriately and equally. Unused characters will be killed off. I expect you to post at least once every couple of days. If you are going to have to take a leave of absence, tell me or be deleted. Keep the OOC to a minimum. When your cat ends up getting chosen to die, cooperate. No spotlighting, meta-gaming, god-modding, or power-playing. If you wish to have your character kill another person's, you must clear it with them first and check with me about whether or not it's okay.
If you wish to join and joining is open (check the title for the hours), post your cat(s)' information below, along with the following:
Pick a number between:
1 and 6:
13 and 17:
50 and 60:
34 and 39:
90 and 111:
77 and 79:
You are allowed up to three characters.
