"No, my boyfriend's," Lad responded flatly, taking instant note of who this dog was. Still, he had a plan. He could see himself how it was he could use North to his advantage. "But he seems more interested in this stupid Yankee chick, even when I'm obviously trying to get him alone."
"Oh, high and mighty has time for another dog?" North smirked. "Stupid shepherd, what is he doing with a dog like you? He's a little bit hefty, no? And if he's openly displayed affection to you and now doing it to another dog, he's certainly just a fly-boy. One dog to the next. I've seen many a dog like this before, dam or male." Of course, North couldn't have known of Brim's well intention, having only heard the news from Lad. "He's not like that, stupid oaf," Lad rebuked. He was hellbent on bettering this dog, but couldn't help agreeing with him just a little bit.
He suddenly felt vulnerable. The stone beneath his paws was so slippery with spray, he felt that he would fall in at any moment. "Though this definitely isn't his first love. Not mine, either. Of course, my only partners have been one night stands. All girls, too. One told me to burn in hell. I think she was looking for more of a long-time thing. A bit harsh," he added.

Brimstone nodded enthusiastically, relieved that forming this pack was so easy. there had been no upheaval for power just yet, and it was a great accomplishment in his eyes. He had one dog placed in a rank, a position of power, and the only dog superior to him was his lover. Could it get much better? The relief of the task was already putting him in a much friendlier mood. Turning back to Pandora, he bumped her encouragingly. "I think you'll do just fine."

North recoiled slightly, but wasn't cowed. He had thought that this dog was mad at his supposed lover. He sighed. So many dogs were like this, hot and then cold. "Dang." He shook his head. "It just seems like you can't tell with she-dogs these days. Or your shepherd, for that matter." He added, trying his best to stay on the whippet's good side. He couldn't afford messing up while being tested. For all he knew, this could be a test too.

"You're right there," Lad responded. "Dogs aren't meant to mate for life, anyway. The straight ones, that is. Hetero relationships are so mediocre." He stood up and shook himself free of the spray that had beaded on his coat, only to have the Fountain spit more water again. The splash drenched him with cold H2O. He sniffed at the indignity of the situation, but saw no point in shaking himself again. "Why are you here?"

Brimstone felt like everything was natural with this dog, but for the slightest moment, he stopped to scan the room for Lad. His sides were cold without his Lad to keep him warm. Not seeing him, he merely shrugged it off, assuming that he was resting or tending to leaderly businesses.
Bringing his focus back to Pandora, he nodded. "Don't mention it. It's good to have some competent dogs around, besides Lad and I." Pondering the question for a moment, he responded slowly, almost warily, "My leg has been bothering me. It was infected from an earlier fight, but has healed over since. It is sore, but almost healed. Do you have anything for the cramps in my leg?" Licking his fur out of the way, he revealed the almost completely scarred over wound on his leg that had troubled him in getting out of the underground tunnel.

( lozi, North might as well drown him in a moment or two. This can't go on forever, given both of their personalities. They're not one for conversation.)

There's too strong of a concentration of idiots in the building. There's a disease even stranger than the epidemic with the Beasts going through the city. It affects anything that moves. Stupidity. That building you've got there is a breeding ground for it. Any dog that stays in there long will lose their mind and get it themselves."

He straightened up assertively. "Listen, lug, I know your type, and . . ." He remembered his plan, then gave a strangled pause.
". . . I think you're very, very . . . hot," he managed to force out. The disloyalty stung him hard, but this was the best way to get back at that dirty little cheater.

"Maybe you could accompany me out thur? We could go for a walk." Brimstone smiled back, bumping Pandora. He didn't ever know that being this social would be this easy. Maybe it was just this dog. It hadn't happened this easy with Parker, April, or any of the other dogs. It was probably just this one.
"Of course! It seems like I'm no longer the Beta, but the Pack Lab Rat! I assume you would know where to find Witch Hazel?"

I think just to humour you, and myself, I'll go along with it. However, for future reference, you suck at lying about taking interest in him." North laughed again, seeming to relax around Lad, now that he knew what he wanted and expected from him. Trying out a playful, but reassuring tap on Lad's shoulder with his tail, he tried to lighten the atmoshpere.

Harper and Poe both had been reasonably left alone. Though Harper didn't know Poe very much, she willingly sat and listened to him tell detailed, intricate stories about dreary homes and peculiar mysteries. Poe would make a wonderful sentinel, and Harper's springs in her steps would make her a valuable hunter.

She was careful, kind, and had a reassuring air to her. Not only that, but she seemed to know what she was doing. Thinking slightly about her words, his eyes lit up. "I've heard that there's a creek a little ways back in the wood, from word of mouths. Some dog's master fishes there for trout when the cold seasons come. Maybe we should try there. Follow me." With an assertive wave of his tail, he trotted from the building he led her towards the woods.

It'll just make me, not to mention you, look like a fool. Either get your jealous act together, or don't mention it anymore. Besides, you don't have to do that stupid mushy stuff. Only she-dogs like that. Just a boyish playfulness." All the while, North was inwardly laughing at how ridiculous Lad was being. Trying to call him a pet name, it was almost like Lad was more worried on making it look real than making Brimstone jealous. Either way though, North was determined to get back at the shepherd.
