Mouseclaw nodded, glancing up at the sun that was rapidly setting. "I want to practice your night hunting and while we're out we'll do a lesson on night stalking as well. Are you ready to go? We'll be out for a while. Remember we have to be extra vigilant while we're out and we'll have to stay together. No wandering off." Buckpaw nodded once firmly "Yeah, I'm ready. I promise I won't wander off, that's the last thing on my mind right now..." He glanced off to Longpaw and Lightpaw before looking back at Mouseclaw, a small frown on his face.

Lightpaw felt a flicker of sadness run through her. It was true that their mentors didn’t seem to be much to run to the den about, and secretly she also felt like the Clan didn’t like them, let alone want them to have strong mentors. Even so, she couldn’t bear to know her happiness was unwarranted, and she knew Longpaw needed her words. “Well, then we’ll just have to show them that we’ll be better Warriors, even if our mentors are… er, different. Raccoonmask isn’t too bad! And… Brittlefoot’s always been fun, and clever, right?” She tried. Longpaw flicked his tail. "Brittlefoot is a frog-brain on stick legs. How am I ever supposed to get taken seriously with a mentor like him?" He shook his head and bitterly eyed the apprentice den. "Let's just make our nests and hope they didn't leave us the worst spots in the den to sleep at." Lightpaw listened to her brother with a look of sympathy, only for it to turn to muted surprise and blistering embarrassment as she realized that somehow, Brittlefoot had approached them on surprisingly silent paws. Now, the older tom was sitting casually, clearly in ear-shot of all of Longpaw’s sharp words. Lightpaw flinched, expecting for the Warrior to snap or hiss, but to her surprise, Brittlefoot was only looking at Longpaw with a relaxed and almost humored look. “Frog-brain on stick legs, huh?” Brittlefoot chuckled. “Pretty good for a first jab, but it’s not a new one. You’re right though, you best get a good nest before the other apprentices push you up to the wall. It gets real cold at night.” Brittlefoot flicked his kink tail, musing smoothly. “Might give you time to think of a much better insult, Longpaw, really impress me, yeah?” Lightpaw bristled with awkwardness, rushing quickly to Longpaw’s side and stammering. “Er… we’ll uh… let’s go do that then, Longpaw, uhm…”

“I think I deserve some sappiness on my ceremony day.” Coalhaze grinned proudly, returning Ashrock’s cuff with one of his own. “I’m still a bit cross at Crystalsight and Honeycrest… but, I can’t be mad forever. I’ll be the best Warrior Shadowclan could ask for.” He promised. Ashrock huffed. "Your siblings should've had a little more faith in you, but what's done is done. You'll have to rely on each other while holding vigil over the Clan while the rest of us sleep." “I can always rely on them… I just hope they realize that they better learn to fully rely on me.” Coalhaze admitted, before he looked at Ashrock ans grinned. “Don’t worry. There’s no better cats to watch over camp than us. Say, now that you’re finally free of the medicine den… you gonna move your nest near Stonesong’s?” He teased knowingly. Snakesong flustered at Smokestorm’s praise, but she purred deeply. “Well… it’s certainly a news-worthy occasion. I could see Brittlefoot’s big grin from a forest away, I just hope that your family knows that they’ll be a big part of our kits’ lives, and that makes me very happy.”

Frogleap blinked at Treestripes. He glanced over at Moonpetal across the camp and then his own mate. "Actually, Hollowpool and I never went through the 'head over heels' phase. We were just best friends to mates." He smiled at the thought, but looked at Treestripes with concern. "Are you sure about what you're doing? Do know anything about Moonpetal? Would she even like a pebble or feather?" Cedarstar purred when his mate pressed against him. He instinctively leaned into her. She was always able to calm him down just be being there. "Hey, I haven't eaten anything all day. Would you share a bite with me?" Ashrock padded over to Coalhaze to congratulate him. Rowanpaw watched the camp from his place by Buckpaw. Houndthroat looked for Cloudscar. He was itching to do something and wanted to go on a patrol. Tigerfury huffed in frustrated. He partly wished Longpaw was made his apprentice, he'd whip some respect into him. "Hm.." Treestripes murmured, while thinking. "I should ask her siblings what's her favorite gift, like her favorite prey or something.."

Longpaw flinched when Brittlefoot spoke. He hadn't heard the tom come up. He stood up with his head ducked away. "Uh..." Longpaw glanced awkwardly at his sister. Brittlefoot took the insult much differently than Longpaw expected. "Right..." He slipped after his sister.
Ashrock flicked his ear and looked away at the tease about Stonesong. "My nest in the warrior's den got stolen during my time in the medicine den. I'm stuck on the edge of the den with the new warriors and now, you, I suppose."
(I guess I didn't make reactions for Eaglesight and Cliffheart. My bad!)
Smokestorm shrugged and was about to comment when Eaglesight padded up. The long-legged tom was smiling brightly. "Congratulations, you two!"
Smokestorm awkwardly flicked his ear in reply.

"Congratulations, you two!" Smokestorm awkwardly flicked his ear in reply. "For those thin legs, he sure has quiet paws." Lightpaw whispered to Longpaw as soon as they rushed into the apprentice's den and away from the dark-furred tom. She released a long breath, looking at Longpaw with both a sheepish and humored panic. "Not as quiet as ours though! Aha...haha..." She shook her head and focused back on the den. "Okay! Do you see any avaliable spots? Oh... that nest is so nice." She breathed, looking at the center of the den where Honeycrest's old nest used to be. It was immaculate! She pouted though, as she already scented Whorlpaw all over it. "Oh, well that stinks." Coalhaze puffed with sympathy, before he gave a small smirk. "Well, luckily, I don't snore very loudly, and Crystalsight and Honeycrest sleep silently. Just don't mess up Honeycrest's nest, or he'll spilt all your whiskers and call you every prey-brain insult in the Clans..." He hesitated, before he gave a small and somewhat goofy grin. "I was actually thinking of trying to see if I could move closer to Vixenflame. I really liked talking to her all those moons in the apprentice's den." "Thank you, Eaglesight." Snakesong mewed softly, eyes flickering to her paws, before she finally looked up at the tom. "I see you all the time with Songbreeze and Grovekit and Flowerkit near the nursery... er... have you liked it so far, in there?" She asked, wanting to know what Eaglesight might know about taking care of kits.

Yet, at Starrylight's news, Cedarstar blinked in surprise. He stared right at her. "More kits? You're certain?" Starrylight nodded, curling her tail over her belly that barely showed the first signs of kits. "Very, Snowdance confirmed it for me at sunrise this morning. I snuck out of the den when I started feeling a bit sick. Snowdance ensured me I was fine, and I was probably expecting again!" She twined her tail with his, her lizard in front of her temporarily forgotten. "Looks like we might need to expand the nursery again."

You and I are lucky with our darker pelts, it's easier for us to blend in. But, for cats who aren't as lucky, say Starrylight or Cloudscar how do they blend in better with the shadows?"

"With the prey-maulers about, I'm not too sure you'll be going out there, though with the circumstances, that may have to change. If you did, you'd be very heavily protected, I promise. If we brought your family here though, the dangers could be too much. Cedarstar will decide that, but for now know that you've got Shadowclan's leader having your back, and that's certainly something that means quite alot here in the Clan." Talltalon assured, voice deep but calming, trying not to upset or overwhelm the she-kit. WillowkitWillowkit didn't pretend to understand everything that the older cat said, but she nodded solemnly, understanding, at least, that it was a lot more complicated than just a big old reunion. There was a lot more risk involved than she realized. But, she was grateful that ShadowClan would keep her safe. "Thank you," she murmured.

Longpaw flicked his ear, irked with himself that he let Brittlefoot sneak up on him. He frowned at all the nests in the den and how some were clearly better than others. "We need moss," Longpaw realized flatly. "We can't make nests without it, but where do we get it?" He scanned the edges of the nests trying to figure out where the best spot would be. If Whorlpaw took Honeycrest's nest then one of the other apprentices already took hers. "Although, since three cats moved out, maybe we could take old nests that are no longer claimed." He padded over to Coalhaze's and Crystalsight's old nests trying to figure out who claimed them. One of them had to be Sunpaw's new nest and Longpaw could see Palepaw giving the other nest to Duskpaw.
Ashrock raised a brow at Coalhaze. "Vixenflame, huh? She's got a nest over by Waspflame and Hazelblaze. Hazelblaze probably won't move, and Waspflame has a mouth, so you'll need to stand up for yourself if you really want to move closer to Vixenflame. Although, Starrylight spends every day in Cedarstar's den. There's talk of just getting rid of her nest to make room." Ashrock bitterly flicked his tail. "I'd take over her nest if I could just to have my place back in the middle."
Eaglesight purred softly. "I've enjoyed it with Grovekit and Flowerkit. I want to make sure they're well loved, you know? They're a lot of fun. Curious and adventurous. Open to stories. I tell them about Hiddendream all the time." He looked from Snakesong to Smokestorm. "Didn't take you as the fatherly type, though. Thought you told me once you didn't want kits?"
Smokestorm shrugged. "Guess it can't be helped. Snakesong's always wanted kits, though. She'll be a great mother."
Eaglesight smiled. "Of that, I have no doubt."

Cedarstar rumbled with a purr and he pressed his head into hers. More kits. He never thought he'd father one litter let alone two. StarClan, he was so happy, but he also worried. The prey maulers were still out there. What if they attacked? What if something happened to Starrylight? What if their new kits didn't make it to the world? He tried to push the thoughts away. He'd protect the Clan. Give all nine lives to protect Starrylight and their kits. He tried to focus on the positive. Starrylight was expecting! Snakesong too. The Clan was growing again. He let Starrylight's words bring up the memory of the first time he and Starrylight wove brambles together in the nursery. "I've love to expand the nursery again with you."

She poked her nose around the nests, before she mused. “I think Sunpaw and Duskpaw’s old nests are empty now.” “Hah! I’m not spooked by Waspflame, and Hazelblaze totally likes me! I think! I just have to be persuasive, and all of this helps alot.” Coalhaze grinned as he motioned to his large body. He chuckled. “I’d say jump on it the second Starrylight leaves her nest, at least for the moons she’s in the nursery.” Snakesong fluffed her fur shyly at the praise from both toms, though she felt a wave of delight and emotion that Smokestorm and Eaglesight both thought she’d be a good mother. For so long she had always been told she never would or could be, but they boosted her confidence immensely by saying she would be. “Thank you. Really, it means alot.”

Mouseclaw hummed in agreement as they continued to walk further into the territory where the pine trees were denser. "Good, mud can also disguise your scent making it harder for both prey and enemies to know you're close by. It's important to keep a close eye on any small shine of light, the second the light reflects on your eyes it will give your position away. Other things like wild garlic can also disguise your scent. Falcontalon once led a patrol onto Thunderclan's territory to hunt under the guise of wild garlic many many moons ago when prey was very scarce." he mewed, speaking proudly of his father and former deputy. "When stalking your enemies, can you think if anything else that you want to keep in mind besides scent and the light?"

Willowkit glanced over at Vulturekit. “So… what next?” Now that the Clan meeting was over, would they get to explore? She still hadn’t seen the entire camp or met all her new Clanmates. Knowing that she might have the chance to see her family again somehow made it easier to feel like she could belong in this strange, new place.

Wasn't hunting on another clans land forbidden by the warrior code? He stared at his mentor for a few moments before deciding that he wouldn't question it, since prey was said to have been scarce and desperate times call for desperate measures. He kept the information in mind, for just in case. "Sound?" Buckpaw offered hesitantly at Mouseclaw's question.

Mouseclaw tapped his tail on Buckpaw's shoulder, "That's the one. We must not only blend in with the night, but we must also be as silent as the passing shadows. Now as promised, I won't be moving too far away from you. But, I want you to close your eyes, and count to 10. When you get to 10 you are to come find me as silently as possible. Use all the tricks I've taught you so far and plan a sneak attack."
Mouseclaw nodded to Buckpaw before disappearing into the low branches of the pine trees. He moved several fox-lengths away from the apprentice, just far enough away that Buckpaw wouldn't be able to instantly sense where he was, but close enough that a single yell for help he would be able to be there in a flash. He crouched among a low-lying bush. His brown pelt camouflaged well in the darkness of the night.

Longpaw shook his head. "Duskpaw and Sunpaw's nests may be open, but first dibs to them goes to Rowanpaw and Strikepaw, and Fuzzypaw can claim one of their nests. After her, then Spottedpaw, Rustlepaw, and Buckpaw." Longpaw rolled his eyes. He pointed to where the outlining nests were. "We're probably going to get stuck over there."
(Psst, Coalhaze, Starrylight hasn't told anyone save for Cedarstar lol)
Ashrock glanced over at the leader's den. "Starrylight's been in Cedarstar's den so much. I might just take her nest tonight. Northstar never had a mate, so it's strange that Cedarstar's sharing her den."
Eaglesight smiled at Snakesong, though he flicked his ear when he glanced at Smokestorm. Smokestorm read his brother clearly and his doubts about the kits made him turn his head away. Eaglesight didn't think he'd be a good enough father.
Eaglesight looked away from Smokestorm. "Has Cliffheart come to congratulate you yet?"

Buckpaw twitched his whiskers and nodded in response, taking a breath before closing his eyes and slowly counting to ten. When he finished counting, the apprentice scanned the immediate area for flashes of light as soon as he opened his eyes while simultaneously opening his mouth to scent the air. Through the scent that his mentor had left behind, Buckpaw couldn't figure out which direction it went as it was too jumbled for him to make out and there was no light to be seen. The young tom decided to test his luck and picked a direction to try and track Mouseclaw, trying to keep his foot-steps light as he did so, though he found it a bit difficult, accidently stepping on some twigs on the way. It took the apprentice a few twists and turns to finally find where the scent trail was heading but when he did so, he slowly stalked through the pine branched, searching for a silhouette that would signify the presence of his mentor. When he didn't find one, he started searching the bushes, trying to find the strongest scent trail. He eventually found it, barely spotting the mousey brown tom a few tail-lengths away. He cringed as he accidently stepped on yet another twig. Buckpaw breathed out slowly, keeping his eyes on Mouseclaw, he felt around for a patch of mud, slowly and quietly rolling himself in it to try and disguise his scent. It may not have been enough, as he didn't want to make too much sound, but at least it was something. He crept around to the opposite side of the low-lying bush, positioning himself so he was behind the older warrior before creeping forward so he only a paw-step away from him before leaping at him, paws out-stretched.

Or Frostlake never shares Earthstar’s nest? I know you’d much rather sleep in the warrior’s den with everyone else, so why would I let you suffer in here alone? If the clan really has an issue about me sleeping in here, they can bring it up with me. You’re right Northstar never had a mate, so we’d never know if she would have allowed them in the den with her, but it was her decision as leader and the clan would have respected it. So they should respect your decision too.”

Mouseclaw’s eyes flickered through the branches and undergrowth at every twig snap, but he had to admit Buckpaw did well to hide his scent and avoid the light. An unsuspecting warrior may just brush off the twig snaps as a piece of prey scurrying by.
He turned abruptly as Buckpaw’s paws slammed into his back. He halted the apprentices attack with the swish of his tail, “I’m impressed Buckpaw. We’ll work a bit more on your awareness of your paws but otherwise you did well. Good work using the mud to hide your scent.”
