"Then I'll let you lead the way to the Burnt Sycamore." Cedarstar nodded to her. As confident as she sounded, he wanted to make sure she was able to maneuver around the territory on her own. Tumblefoot flicked his ear in thought. "Well, he mentored Cedarstar, didn't he? But Cedarstar has a bunch on his plate right now." He glanced over at the leader when he spotted him exiting his den. "We can try one of his kits. They felt the loss of Owlshadow too." Closesky chuckled at the thought of the entire clan playing shadow sneak. "The other Clans do have different scents, but that's only because their territory and prey are different from ours. Landscape has always had a part in effecting how some cats act or smell. They probably think we smell weird to them." “Alright! I remember the direction.” Rustlepaw nodded, turning a bit before she corrected her direction and started forwards. The scents of her clanmates converged the most near the camp entrance. Findind the right path was not so hard in that regard. “Were you and Goldberry having an important talk?” She asked, unable to help her curiousity. “Alright then. Hiddendream and Songbreeze are probably busy in the nursery. Do you see Eaglesight or Smokestorm around anywhere?” Burninghope turned to scan her eyes around camp, determined to help Cliffheart out of his rut. “Shadowclan smells nice though! Mama smells like pinecones! Who doesn’t love pinecones? And papa smells like….uhm…” Lightkit hesitated, her eyes drooping with difficulty for a moment before she brightened again. “Like marsh grass!…I think?”

Ashrock nodded curtly to her. "Then I'll get your herbs and find something else to do." With a flick of his tail, he walked off toward the camp entrance. However, when he spotted Cedarstar going the same direction, he stopped and waited for his brother to go by.
Cedarstar followed after Rustlepaw, slipping through the camp entrance with a content purr. There was no reason to doubt that Rustlepaw could maneuver the camp by herself. "Goldberry was just expressing a concern he has and frankly, I agree with him. I'll take care of it soon enough."
"Smokestorm with out with Snakesong." Tumblefoot flicked his ear. "But I think I saw Eaglesight by the nursery earlier talking to Hiddendream. He didn't look busy."
Closesky chuckled. "We may think that pinecones and marsh grass are two of the greatest smells in the world, but the other Clans may think that dusty grasses and murky water smells better."
Longkit padded over to the medicine den in search of his sister.

Longkit padded over to the medicine den in search of his sister. “I’m glad it was nothing bad then.” Rustlepaw admitted. “You smell different when you talk to certain cats…I realized that pretty recently. Every cat has a distinct scent…but the scent changes when they talk to certain cats or do certain things. You smell different sometimes.” She admitted lightly. “Is…is that normal? Is it like that for everyone even if they can see?” “Eaglesight’s probably the easiest to talk to anyway. Smokestorm is either sleeping or hunting, so Eaglesight’s probably our best bet.” Burninghope nodded, turning towards the nursery before she took in a soft breath. “…Hiddendream’s kits are going to be my siblings, you know? I wish my father could have been here when they arrive…” She admitted. Lightkit poked her head out as she watched for Longkit, giggling softly as she spotted a flash of his thin pelt padding towards another den. “The other clans have mud in their noses then. Maybe they’re afraid of the dark too. That’s what mama says.”

Cedarstar blinked at her question and was a little taken back by it. He never thought about how cats smelled differently when they talked. His ear flicked anxiously at the thought of what he might smell like at different times. "I'm not sure, Rustlepaw," he mewed honestly. "Some cats can give off a strong fear scent, but when it comes to causal conversation, I never noticed if anyone smells differently."
Tumblefoot smiled softly. "It's sad that Viperpool never got to find out about his kits with Hiddendream. I can't imagine how hard it must be for Hiddendream, but I'm sure she's relieved to know she'll have you to help watch over the kits too." Tumblefoot nudged her. "You'll be a great big sister."
Eaglesight was padding out of the nursery after visiting his sisters.
"None of the other Clans know the dark like we do." Closesky nodded in agreement. "We thrive in the shadows of night and darkened places while the other clans rely on sunlight to maneuver their territory." He suddenly shrugged. "Although, I suppose the tunnelers of WindClan are familiar with the dark, but that's only from the dark of the underground. They wouldn't be able to handle it above ground like we do."

I think whatever you said to him calmed him down.” Rustlepaw admitted, her voice filling with appreciation towards her mentor. “I hope one day I can assure cats who are scared as well as you do.” She swiveled her head, frowning as she maneuvered around a large stone the second her whiskers twitched against it. Burninghope looked at Tumblefoot with a sudden hint of shyness and appreciation. “You really think that I’d do a good job as a big sister? I actually always hoped I’d be one.” She felt fuzzy and warm at his compliment. She nearly missed sight of Eaglesight, but perked up as soon as she spotted him. “Woah! So they really dig in holes? I thought that was just a silly story!” Lightkit exclaimed, looking at Closesky and momentarily getting distracted from the game. “Won’t they get lost down in the dirt?”

Cedarstar flicked his ear twice. He wasn't sure he reassured cats all that much, but he did try. "That's kind of you to say, Rustlepaw." He watched her as she moved around the rock. She's certainly getting used to getting to the Burnt Sycamore, but he couldn't help but wonder how well she knew the rest of the territory.
Tumblefoot nudged her again. "You'd be the best, no doubt." When he spotted Eaglesight, he lifted his head higher when he approached the tom. "Hey Eaglesight."
Eaglesight paused. "Tumblefoot, Burninghope. Did you need something?"
Closesky nodded. "They really do dig holes and you'd think they'd get lost, but they know those tunnels like a ShadowClan warrior knows the dark. I once spoke with a tunneler of WindClan, his name was Rabbitdash. He was quite proud of his rank. He wasn't thrilled when ShadowClan found out about their secret art, but when I got curious about their fighting styles in the tunnels, he rambled like a whippoorwill."

She padded with more confidence now, able to detect the faint scent of trees now. Finding the Burnt Sycamore had become much easier now. Burninghope blinked with deep gratitude before her attention was pulled to Eaglesight. She coughed quickly, focusing back on their little mission. “Yes, actually, it’s about Cliffheart…we’re afraid that he’s started to ignore his duties in his mourning. We just wanted to see if you could help console him somehow.” “Oh. I bet he would have got in biiiig trouble if his leader heard him saying that! Mama says Windclan’s leader is called Swiftstar. Were he and Rabbitdash friends?” Lightkit asked curiously, wanting to see the other clan leaders. Were they as strong looking as Cedarstar?

Cedarstar smiled softly and when he spotted the Burnt Sycamore in the distance, he purred. "You're clearly confident in finding your way to the Burnt Sycamore. How many times have to gone to the other areas around the territory?" He knew he took her once, but he wasn't sure how many times she went without him.
Eaglesight flattened his ears and his gaze glanced toward the warrior's den. "I can try talking to him. He just..." Eaglesight sighed softly. "He hasn't been the same since my mother died."
Closesky twitched his whiskers in amusement. "Swiftstar was just a young warrior at the time. Scarstar led WindClan and she believed in the alliance between WindClan and ShadowClan. She trusted Northstar and the rest of the Clan to keep their secret about tunneling and for her sake, we do." Closesky gave Lightkit a knowing look. "So, you must never tell the other Clans about WindClan's secret skill. Do you understand, Lightkit?"

I went out with you the first day, and then when I had that time off the next day, Spiderfang went out and brought me around. We had a really fun talk about learning to fight without needing eyes." Rustlepaw giggled, before she shook out her pelt. "Uhm...I recognize stuff easier, but I'm still learning how to navigate to those other places. I like the marshes, they're very easy to scent." She admitted. "I understand. We assumed that was what was going on." Burninghope nodded softly. "I've felt heavier ever since my father passed...but I also don't want Cliffheart to miss patrols and feel regret. He's been through alot already, way more than most cats. He won't listen to us...but hopefully he'll hear you out." She pleaded to the older tom. "I understand!" Lightkit giggled, inwardly feeling a flicker of mischief. She now knew a super secret! Surely that meant she had to be pretty special. "Can I tell Longkit? Pretty pretty please?" She blinked innocently, trying to imitate her mother's soft eyes and sweet tone. She always got more when she asked sweetly, she had learned from her mother.

I want you feel comfortable enough that you'll be capable on any border patrol you go on." "It's..." Eaglesight let out a sigh. "It's harder for my father than everyone else. I'm sure you've heard the stories, but Cliffheart won't get to see Owlshadow again even after he dies." Tumblefoot blinked in surprise and glanced at Burninghope. That didn't make sense. Cliffheart was a great warrior! Why wouldn't he get to see Owlshadow again? That's what everyone always said when cats die. They get to see the dead again in StarClan, right? Closesky chuckled and nodded. "It's okay for anyone in the Clan to know as long you don't spill WindClan's secret to the other Clans. ThunderClan, RiverClan, and SkyClan can never learn of WindClan's tunnelers from ShadowClan."

"Oh, that sounds good." Rustlepaw brightened at that, wanting to prove that she could navigate the territory as well as any other apprentice. "Where are we going to go to first?" She asked curiously.
"What?" Burninghope exclaimed. "Why wouldn't he see Owlshadow after he dies? Are you saying that he won't go to Starclan?" Burninghope fretted, her eyes wide for a moment before they flickered with argument. "No way! Cliffheart's an honorable Warrior. He's made up for his past...hasn't he?"
"Oh! In that case, yeah! I won't ever tell a secret to the other clans! I promise!" Lightkit exclaimed, before she peered her head towards the den entrance to see if Longkit was getting closer.

"We'll start at WindClan." Cedarstar flicked his ear and his expression hollowed a bit. He wanted to check the WindClan border and make sure that Swiftstar wasn't trying anything after the last gathering. "Then we'll head over toward ThunderClan and check the Fourtrees border."
Eaglesight flattened his ears, sharing Burninghope's frustrations. "He is an honorable warrior and, in my eyes, he has made up for his past. However..." Eaglesight sighed. "He died once already and he was left wandering in the Dark Forest. If it wasn't for Northstar giving him a life, he would still be there. When he dies again, he'll start his walk in the Dark Forest again and he'll never see Owlshadow...or my siblings and I again once he's there."
"Good." Closesky purred. "WindClan entrusted us with this secret and the longer we hold it, more the more they'll realize we're trustworthy--especially when it comes to something like us taking Fourtrees temporarily."
Longkit lashed his tail when he didn't find his sister in the medicine den. He was sure she'd be there!

"Alright. Do you think there will be any Windclan Warriors at the border? I don't know much about them, or at least I haven't gotten to meet any Windclan cats yet!" Rustlepaw asked curiously, her paws working into the ground in anticipation.
"That's not fair!" Burninghope huffed sharply. "Why would Starclan deny a cat who's clearly proved himself? It all just sounds so stupid sometimes!" She muttered, hesitating on the impact of her words before she calmed herself and sighed heavily. "How do you know for certain that he'll truly go there when he does truly die? Maybe next time it'll be different!"
"Oh yeah." Lightkit exclaimed, remembering her mother's explanation as to why alot of cats were going from camp to Fourtrees alot. "Closesky, are we gonna have Fourtrees for a long time?"

"If there are, we stand our ground." Cedarstar flattened his ears at the thought of seeing the other Clans. After what happened at the Gathering and how they all denied ShadowClan to have Fourtrees, he didn't care to see any of them. "You let me do the talking."
Eaglesight frowned lightly at Burninghope. "I wish I could believe that, but all the evidence suggests otherwise. StarClan didn't come to Cliffheart's aid when he was trapped in the Dark Forest the first time, Northstar did. If they didn't help him then--when he died in place of a Clanmate--then why would they help him now?"
"Until the territory grows back in New-leaf." Closesky shook his head. "That's what Cedarstar told the other Clans. I believe he'll keep to his word."
Longkit started padding toward the elder's den.

Falcontalon wandered over the nursery, hoping he could spend some time with Pearlkit.
Hazelblaze sat next to Bumbleskip, the she-cat sighing as she groomed through her father's fur. She was taking this as a win, no matter how much it hurt her to see him like this.
Bumbleskip was curled up in a ball, paying no attention to his daughter, but also not pushing her away either.
Mouseclaw and Starrylight padded into camp together, the siblings talking amicably as they dropped their prey onto the pile. Now that greenleaf was here the pile was a big bigger, which eased the tension in both of their shoulders.
Cherryvine was curled up in the nursery, eyes half open as she sleepily watched the kits teeter around.
Hailkit and Mistkit stumbled around on new legs, Hailkit gasped as he peaked out of the nursery, "Woah! The camp is huge!" he exclaimed, his fuzzy body puffing in excitement.
Mistkit scampered towards her brother, only tripping on her clumsy paws once on the way. "I wanna see! I wanna see!"
Duskpaw was dragging old moss out of the elder's den, humming quietly to herself as she worked.
Spottedpaw was nestled snug in his nest in the apprentice's den, exhausted after a long training session this morning.

Rustlepaw promised, grimacing lightly at the thought of starting trouble for Shadowclan, and not only making Cedarstar look foolish, but her parents as well. She could already hear Spiderfang's sharp words and her father's stern consoling. She shook her head, promising. "I'll show Windclan what a true Apprentice is like." "I...I don't know. Starclan works in weird ways...maybe it was a test or something?" Burninghope stammered, her youth still shining through as she tried to keep optimistic, perhaps blindly so. She glared down at her paws before she looked at Tumblefoot. "Starclan can't still think Cliffheart isn't worthy, right?" "Cedarstar must keep alot of important secrets. He has nine whole lives!" Lightkit puffed her chest. "I bet the other clans are jealous that they don't have Fourtrees."
