Spottedpaw flicked his ears in delight, hearing about all the territories. He hoped he got to see them all someday. Blinking, he refocused on the conversation, turning his ears towards the forest around them and listening intently. "Hmmmm, I can hear a bird singing not to far away, and some brush being crunched over there by something small, a lizard maybe?" He frowned, hearing other noises but not being able to make out what they were. "The forest is so much louder than camp!" Mouseclaw tried to run faster, letting out a laugh as Spiderfang was already starting to gain on him, "No! That's why I'm cheating." he huffed, it had been a while since he had a reason to run this fast, he let out a purr as the cool wind ran through his fur, feeling light. "Of course! Everything out here is full of sounds that a young cat like you are not too used to. Our clanmates' voices become so familiar that we think little of them. Out here, it must sound roaring to you." Lynxdapple chuckled, his own ear flicking as he promised. "If there's lizards out here, we'll let a hunting patrol catch it for now. Your hunting lessons start tomorrow, once you get more settled into the territory. For now, we're coming closer to the Thunderclan border. What can you notice about the territory as we get close?" He tested. Spiderfang's muscles burned from sudden use after so much rest, and she swore that she would work them until they were trained and strong once again. For now, she nipped playfully at her mate's tail before she snickered. "I should punish you for cheating, like a wet-nosed apprentice. Would Closesky make you hold your lunging crouch until your legs ached too?"

"Maybe I want someone who will give me a good challenge. It's a compliment, Houndthroat." Lilywhisper corrected with a teasing toss of her eyes. The small she-cat flicked her ear before she glanced at him once more. "You don't want to practice with me?" Snakesong shuffled, suddenly a bit flustered, but smiling nonetheless. She nodded once. "There's not much more you could know about me anyway. I'm just...a Warrior. With a brother. That's...erm, that's about it. No big legacy or anything of the sort." She admitted. "Floods..." Rustlepaw murmured, remembering how her mother and father had described them. Their tones made it clear that floods were a very dangerous thing. "Sometimes I am glad that I can't see. Because frightening things like those, I can't imagine what they look like...so I can't witness them with my eyes." She admitted quietly, before she brightened once more. "What do they sound like?" "I didn't say that." Houndthroat kept his ears back, unsure of what he was supposed to say. Lilywhisper was always too confusing to figure out and he didn't like it. She meant her words to be a compliment? No one in this camp ever complimented him, why would she want too? She's just messing with me. The annoying little apprentice was now an annoying little warrior and just like Ratmask, she enjoyed mind games. He should just walk away. And yet he didn't. "And yet, you're kind, caring, have a beautiful voice." Smokestorm nudged her with a smile. "Don't sell yourself short, my love." Cedarstar flicked his ear. He wasn't sure he saw Rustlepaw's point. If you couldn't see the scary thing coming, then how were you supposed to get away from it? Yet, if you couldn't see it. The sight of it wouldn't be forever imprinted into your mind. Like the Clanmates I lost...Cedarstar paused sadly when he spotted a fallen tree branch. He'd never get the images of the clanmates he couldn't save from that fire out of his mind. Cedarstar quickly shook his head. He shouldn't be thinking about that. He was supposed to training Rustlepaw. "A flood has many sounds to it. First, comes the sound of rain and when the earth is soaked up the sound of splashing water. A flood can come quickly if it rushes from a river upstream or it can be slow and creep up on you from the growing of puddles." "Well then. You and me, after my vigil, and after I get some sleep, we can do some practice. If you have free time, of course. I want to make sure that Ratmask's teachings never wear out within me." Lilywhisper decided, smiling ever so slightly at the larger tom. "Just make sure my brother and sister don't get too rowdy. I think I'll be the most behaved of the three." She joked softly. "Only if you don't sell yourself short either." Snakesong purred, her pelt warming from her mate's compliments. She turned to gently press her muzzle to his, quick to make sure her tooth wasn't poking from her lip before she spoke again. "I'm glad that the territory is slowly coming back...I missed this..." "I understand." Rustlepaw nodded slowly, thinking of the sounds and scents of rain, the feeling of water beneath her paw pads. She flicked her tail lightly, the appendage flinching as it brushed against something before a small tuft of her fur caught onto some thistles. She gently pulled it, silent as she could manage as she felt strands of fur pull from her tail and onto the bush as she freed it. She whined softly at the small sting, but continued to speak to her mentor. "So...it would be best for me to feel around for places that slope up so floods won't reach me?"

Spottedpaw wrinkled his nose as the scent of Thunderclan permeated the air “Yuck, I can tell they were here recently, their scent is so strong! It smells like we haven’t been here since this morning. Can we mark the border?” He asked, eyes wide at the thought.
Mouseclaw laughed pulling his tail away from her sharp teeth as he entered the soft training grounds. “Yes, but that wasn’t my least favorite punishment, for me he made me run laps around the training grounds. He said I needed to learn to be quick because of my large size. “ he mewed, flicking his ears. “He wasn’t wrong, and it helped in the end so I can’t be too mad now.”

(Shall we go to the border page? :3 )
Lynxdapple offered a small snicker before he nodded once. "Yeah. We can mark the border a bit so the patrols know that we're keeping eyes on it. I'll show you how, just make sure you don't cross the border, got it? The Thunderpath is very dangerous, got it?"
"I get the feeling he had specific punishments for all of us. He used to have me practice my rolls until my head hurt, to train my speed." Spiderfang smirked at the memory before her eyes glinted slightly, and a sigh escaped her. "There's only three of us left now, huh?...Days like this make me think about Scorchfire. Talonfury. Nightstrike." She looked around the training ground, memories in her steely voice. "I love this place. This place means everything to me. As do you."

Mouseclaw frowned, “It’s hard to think about all the clanmates we lost.” He whispered, his heart dropping at the thought of his mother and sisters. Shaking his head he turned to face Spiderfang, dropping into a crouch. “Let’s get going, you’ve got a lot of lost time to make up.”

Shaking his head he turned to face Spiderfang, dropping into a crouch. “Let’s get going, you’ve got a lot of lost time to make up.” Spiderfang shook the memories away, grateful for Mouseclaw pulling her back to reality. She had learned moons ago that dwelling on the dead was a waste of focus. Instead, she focused back on her mate and crouched low, narrowing her eyes. "Shall I let you take the first attack then, Mouseclaw? Let's see if you've been keeping up with your own training." She challenged.

Mouseclaw slowly began to move stalking around Spiderfang, “I’ll admit, without an apprentice and without you, I haven’t been training much. I may be out of practice myself.” He leapt, paws outstretched and aiming towards Spiderfang’s left shoulder, hoping to use his size and her lack of training to his advantage.

Spiderfang watched him move, seeing his strike aimed for her left shoulder. She moved to dodge it, though it was clear her speed was not what it used to be, as his paw still grazed her fur and clipped the muscle underneath. The strength in his blows was evident, sending her slender frame back. She held firm on her paws, lunging forwards as she aimed a sharp paw back towards his chest. "We'll just have to shape back up together then, hm?"

Mouseclaw dodged her paw, but wasn't fast enough, her paw grazing his shoulder. Racing back he faced her again. "Seems like it. Neither of us are as strong as we were 7 moons ago huh." he mewed, trying to contain his pants of effort. He ran at her again, veering off to her right at the last second to swipe his paw down her side.

"Hey Duskpaw! Hey Fuzzypaw!" Whorlpaw greeted brightly. "Have you seen Palepaw? I want to surprise father with a family dinner when he gets back from training Rustlepaw!"
A small growl escaped Closesky's throat at how Bumbleskip reacted. "Get up!" He grabbed the warrior by the scruff of his neck and yanked him to his paws. Even when Bumbleskip was on his feet, Closesky didn't let go. He started dragging him to the camp entrance.

Houndthroat snorted. "Fine, if you want to train so badly, we'll train. I could use the practice of trying to mentor someone if I'm ever going to get my own apprentice." He stood up to depart so she could start her vigil, but he paused to say a few final words. There was a bit of amusement in his eyes when he said them. "You're never behaved, Lilywhisper."
Smokestorm nodded in agreement and he returned her touch. "ShadowClan will grow strong again. With the return the territory, that only means good things for us moving forward. We have to believe that. "
Cedarstar paused when he heard Rustlepaw's whine. Seeing how her fur caught on the thistles, he flicked his ear. It would be hard for her to stay silent if she couldn't see what she might bump into. How did the dark apprentice from his dreams get around? "Use your whiskers." Cedarstar blinked when remembered what he had told that dark apprentice. "Stretch them out as far as you can and use them to feel your surroundings. Your whiskers are a long as you are wide, so if you feel anything with them, then you'll have to adjust." He paused again to think about her question of the flood. It was smart of her to ask since that season was coming up. He didn't even think about it. "Hopefully you'll never be caught alone in a flood," Cedarstar began calmly. "If you are, then yes, you'll need to get to higher ground. The SkyClan border would be your best bet once you learn where it is. In the past, when the Clan flooded, everyone stayed together and Northstar led us to the highstones camp. We had to wait there for the water to die down before returning."

Lilywhisper's eyes flickered with surprise at his words, indignation building within her, before she felt herself realizing that Houndthroat was actually taunting her in return. A shock of warmth filled her suddenly, and she actually felt a bit of her old shyness as she scoffed. "Hmph! I mean...well, I'd say otherwise but, maybe I'm just as behaved as you are then." She averted her gaze for a moment before she decided. "I'm doing my vigil now, got it?" Snakesong was quiet at Smokestorm's words, a wave of worry filling her suddenly. "Smokestorm, do you think the other clans are going to cause us trouble over Fourtrees? What if they decide to drive us out? I...we need that territory. Prey is still so scarce right now, I just...maybe I'm worrying to much..." Rustlepaw listened to her mentor intently, not waiting to lower her head more and move slowly, feeling around with her whiskers as much as she could. So long as she knew where the ends touched, she could keep her body in that area. Hm! That was something she hadn't thought much about beyond just turning her head alot to bump them into things. She purred a bit, before reminding herself to be more serious. "Skyclan border...are we going there today? I'll remember the scent in case I need to go towards that way. What are Skyclan cats like? Mother said that they jump high and smell like birds. Is that true?"

Duskpaw purred at the thought of eating with her family, but sent a guilty look towards Fuzzypaw's way, knowing she had just promised to eat with her friend. "I haven't seen him in a while. Maybe he's out with Flintclaw? Or snoozing in his nest" she added with a snicker.
Bumbleskip tried to keep his legs moving underneath him as Closesky dragged him towards the camp entrance, stumbling with every step. He stayed silent, shame and fear coursing through him.

Mouseclaw coughed as Spiderfang drove the air out his lungs with her shoulder. "Unfortunately, I think that might be it. After taking a couple of seconds of rest he circled towards her again, waiting for her to strike first this time.

"Loud and clear." Houndthroat lightly rolled his eyes. He flicked his tail as if saying goodbye and padded away.
"The other Clans said they wouldn't do anything for the time being." Smokestorm flicked his tail in betrayal of his own worry. "We have to give Fourtrees back when Leaf-bare is over. I'm sure we'll be alright when that happens."
"No. We're not going there today." Cedarstar shook his head. He wanted her to get to know the Burnt Sycamore first. "SkyClan cats do smell like birds and they also smell similar to rocks. Their territory is full of large, tangling trees and boulders. Their camp itself is a cliff. Cliffheart actually used to be a member of SkyClan, but he doesn't smell like them anymore."
Whorlpaw twitched her whiskers in amusement. Palepaw worked too hard to be snoozing. "Well, if you see him before I do, can you tell him about the family dinner? You'll come, right?"
Closesky dragged Bumbleskip out of camp and partly through the territory before he let him go. "You weren't lying to me, were you? You really are pathetic."

She lunged forwards again then, aiming her paws at her mate's shoulders, though the residual weight from her time in the nursery slowed her down.

She puffed her cheeks, hoping that her brother and sister had not seen her slip up. "I hope so. I can't...I couldn't bear to see anyone in anymore pain. Sometimes I hate thinking about all the bad things that could happen just...out of nowhere. It's silly to be afraid of everything but...sometimes I am." Snakesong admitted quietly, before she pressed close to him. "Thank you though...you make the world feel safer." Rustlepaw nodded quickly, a bit wilted to not be able to go to the border yet, but also understanding that there was far to much to do in just one day. Instead, she focused on her mentor's words, storing them away for later. "Birds, rocks and tangled trees. I think I can work with that!" She blinked, surprised as she continued. "Cliffheart really was once from Skyclan? Is it true that he's really close with Spiritstar? Mother told me that Cliffheart has been through alot of hardships. She and father both respect that he's been through alot of trials and has come out from them."

Bumbleskip growled, dashing away from Closesky. "What is the point of this?" he mewed through gritted teeth. "I've already told you I'm pathetic. I don't need you dragging me out of camp to prove my own point."
Mouseclaw rolled just in time to evade Spiderfang's paws, but he panicked when he realized it would take more time than he thought to get up, now stuck on the ground.

(Hey Fire!)
"Hey, the world gets scary sometimes." Smokestorm leaned against her and tilted his ears back. "I mean...We've gone through so much and sometimes I can't help but feel that things would've been better if Northstar were still leader. The other Clans respected her. She knew what she was doing..." Smokestorm glanced toward the leader's den, not wanting to admit what he was hinting at. He spotted Ashrock sweeping old herbs out of the medicine den with tail. Maybe Ashrock was right?
Cedarstar nodded and soft fondness crossed his face at the thought of his former mentor. "Cliffheart was born in SkyClan and was on the front lines in the battle against the Dark Forest and AdderClan. Spiritstar is actually his sister." He grew quiet at the mention of Cliffheart's hardships. Rustlepaw didn't know the half of it. Cliffheart died and was sent to the Dark Forest for his crimes and it was Northstar that brought him back. She cared so much for all of her clanmates... Cedarstar thought quietly. Would have the courage to give up one of my lives for a cat not even born in ShadowClan? "Cliffheart is stronger than half the forest combined," He said softly.
Whorlpaw nodded in eager agreement. "Can you imagine? I wonder what it's like for Rustlepaw to have father as her mentor!"
"Perhaps I needed it to prove your point." Closesky snorted and lashed his tail. "You just got your tail kicked by an elder, Bumbleskip. Perhaps we should just throw you back in the medicine den? ShadowClan could use four medicine cats!"

Cloudscar and Stormfury were sharing a rather large frog near the warrior's den. The sight would have been strange once, but now was becoming more and more common. Following the loss of Swallowfeather, both toms had grown closer.

I...it must be hard, to lead after a cat like her, with a legacy like that. Could...could any of us truly fit in her pawsteps?" She wondered, following her mate's gaze before she blinked with realization at what he was implying. "...It sounds like he means alot to you. You talk about him like mother and father talk about your father." Rustlepaw listened intently, able to pick out the raw devotion and care in her mentor's voice. "I couldn't imagine being in a different clan than Spottedpaw and Turkeypaw. It must be really difficult for Cliffheart then..." Rustlepaw trailed off, thoughtfulness filling her voice. "Cliffheart is very noble, I think, for choosing to stay with us even when his kin is in another clan. I can see why you say he is strong...er, well, not see! I can't do that." She humored.

Cherry: Is it my time to shine? )
Duskpaw flicked her tail, "I hope he knows how to train her properly, she's a tough cat, but Shadowclan doesn't have any blind warriors for her to learn from."
Bumbleskip let out a bitter laugh, "Like I'd be any better use there. I let my own father die, I know a few herbs, but I have whatever the opposite of the gift of healing is."
Mouseclaw gathered all his energy before attempting to fling her off, pushing all of his weight up and to the side. The tom was heaving just as much as Spiderfang, obviously winded from fighting so hard.
Cherryvine yawned as she woke up from a nap, blinking her eyes open slowly the queen wondered what time of day it was.
