(I got a lot of characters open, Zz If you want to rp with one. Feel free to pick any of them except for Cedar and who I post below.) Tumblefoot returned from a hunting patrol with nothing but a scrawny lizard in his jaw. He spotted Burninghope over by the elder's den and a soft smile curled his lips. Glancing at the rest of the patrol, he started over to her. Longkit was just laying outside the nursery near his sister when Spiderfang padded up. He had been talking to his sister, but seeing his grandmother, he shut right up. Burninghope turned slightly as she spotted Tumblefoot, her eyes lighting up brightly when he came closer. “Tumblefoot! How was the hunting? You caught at least something!” She praised, brushing her head against his shoulders as he approached. Snakesong seemed to look at them curiously, as though realizing something. “I am indeed here to spend time with you both.” Spiderfang assured, looking down at Lightkit and Longkit. “Have you both been good for your mother?” She asked, firm as usual but also relaxed as well.

"Yeah, one lousy lizard, but at least its something." Tumblefoot smiled back at her and returned the gesture. "You look like you've been busy! Closesky and Falcontalon are going to have the most fortified den in camp at this rate!"
Longkit laid his head on his paws and just look out at the camp. He didn't say anything.

He didn't say anything. “They deserve to.” Burninghope nodded. “After all they’ve done for the clan, they don’t deserve to be cold in this leafbare...besides, they told me all kinds of stories. They inspired me a long time ago, you know?” She chuckled, flicking her tail at the den. Spiderfang looked at Longkit for a long moment, noticing the lack of activity in a kit that young. It was strange, yet she also had an inkling as to why it might be the case. She padded towards her grandson, nosing him suddenly. “Alright. Up. Both of you. I want to teach you some new tactics.”

"I've only heard some of their stories." Tumblefoot lightly shrugged and sat down beside her. "You know, since I wasn't lucky enough to be raised here as a kit." He smiled back at her. "I guess since you know their stories, though, you could repeat them if you ever become an elder."
"Hey!" Longkit hadn't been paying attention when Spiderfang suddenly nudged him. He frowned at her, his ears going back. Though he registered what she said, he didn't quite believe it. "What?"

I’ll tell every story over and over. And you better be there with me when I do it. You’ll have plenty of stories to tell when we’re old and rickety together.” Burninghope purred before she suddenly seemed to falter a bit, a faintly happy look crossing her face. “I’m glad that father at least never had to become one. He was vain, he really never liked the thought of growing old. I like to think I made him feel younger when I came into the world. I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be a softy or anything, but the memory just came to me...Tumblefoot, what was your kithood like? Were you always by yourself?” She asked. “Up. Come on. We’ve got a long leafbare ahead of us. I want you two to be ready when your time comes to become apprentices...and more importantly, no kin of mine will be slacking on any kind of activity, hm? I have plenty to show you, if you’re willing to listen.” Spiderfang reiterated, snorting lightly with a snicker as Lightkit bounced on her paws after her grandmother. She pawed at Longkit and exclaimed. “How exciting! Come on Longkit!”

Tumblefoot couldn't keep the smile from his face when he listened to her. The thought of being elders together warmed his heart, but at the mention of her father, he realized he never got to thank the older tom for being alive just so Burninghope could be born. "I...Well..." Tumblefoot fumbled a frown at the thought of his kithood. "There was a time I wasn't alone, but I don't really remember much of it. I had siblings at one time, but my mother split us up. Told us to keep moving and keep away from others." He chuckled lightly. "But as we all know I wasn't really good at keeping away from other cats."
Longkit kept his ears back and he glanced briefly at his sister. Now? Really? Now Spiderfang wanted to train them? Rustlekit, Turkeykit, and Spottedkit must be sleeping. He rolled his eyes and pulled himself to his paws. Even if it was a halfhearted training session from Spiderfang, it was something. "Least until the 'oh so special ones' wake up," he grumbled to himself.

As cool as it might seem, I bet you felt lonely sometimes.” Burninghope blinked at him, both empathetic and intreauged. “Your mother sounds like she must have been keeping you away from something dangerous...have you ever thought about looking for her?” She asked, wondering what her own mother would have been like had she lived. Talltalon did not talk about his sister often, but he clearly had loved her. “I’m going to pretend that your grumbling is you fretting about your lessons and not some comment like your father used to make. It won’t work on me, little grumbler.” Spiderfang flicked her tail, glancing back at Longkit with a hint of interest. “Tell me then. What have you learned about so far? Do you like the hunters or the fighters in the clan more?” She asked.

Tumblefoot shrugged and looked away from her. "It was lonely mostly at night and I never really thought about looking for her. She told me to run and I never questioned it. Didn't think I had too."
"Honeypaw showed me a bit of stalking yesterday." Longkit frowned up at Spiderfang. Did she just try to compare him to his father? We're nothing alike, he huffed to himself.

We're nothing alike, he huffed to himself. “Well, wherever she is, I hope she knows that her son has become a fantastic Warrior.” Burninghope nudged him lightly, her whiskers twitching kindly before she shook the heaviness away from her heart. “Come on, mister long legs, help Snakesong and me get this den done. We can’t reach that tall part, you might!” “Good. So you’ve been getting tips from the apprentices.” Spiderfang nodded her approval, a whisker twitching as Lightkit purred. “Whorlpaw showed me a bunch of stuff too. I think she likes me!” She decided. Spiderfang offered a look of musing humor, before her gaze sharpened once more and the air of a mentor filled her once again. “Show me what you have learned then. What does your crouch look like?”

Tumblefoot twitched his whiskers in amusement. He didn't think much about his mother especially not after coming to ShadowClan. I wonder if she really would be proud of me. He shook the thought away and stood up. "Alright." Tumblefoot smiled at Burninghope. "I'll help you wherever I can."
Longkit flicked his ear and glanced at his sister at Spiderfang's order. He was expecting her to go first as he didn't really want to show Spiderfang his crouch. He had been working on it after Honeypaw showed him, yes, but Honeypaw was an apprentice. Spiderfang was a senior warrior and likely she'd pick his crouch apart.

Burninghope chuckled at that, glancing up at the upper corner of the outside of the den. “There’s a patch right there. We both tried to get it, but all we ended up doing was punching another hole in it that we had to fix.” She mewed with a twinge of embarrassment, though Snakesong looked far more cowed than she did.
Spiderfang watched the two kits before it seemed Lightkit got the message. The pale she-kit perked up before lowering down into the crouch that Whorlpaw had showed her. She shifted a bit, excited to show off, though Spiderfang’s paw pressed upon her shoulder and sent her falling with a gentle push. Lightkit squeaked with surprise, before a small giggle escaped her. “You’re super strong! That was my best one!”
“And you have a decent form, but you’re far too antsy. You’re not firm enough. Do not let Whorlpaw’s lessons go to waste by making it too much of a game, yes?” Spiderfang instructed, lowering her head to meet her granddaughter’s eyes with her own. Lightkit blinked owlishly, before she finally squeaked out.
“O-okay! Promise, Spiderfang!”
“Good. Up again, come now...and you, Longkit? Are you as unsteady as your sister?” She asked, neither harsh nor soft, but a strange spot in-between.

Tumblefoot laughed at that. "Well, at least you two were trying!" He lifted up on his hind paws to reach the patch that needed repaired. "Pass me a bramble?"
Longkit kept his ears back as he watched Spiderfang instruct his sister. Great. If he did it wrong, he'd get pushed around his sister did and likely a long list of critique. He didn't look at Spiderfang or his sister when he slipped into the crouch Honeypaw showed him. His paws were spread but not too far. He kept low enough that his fur barely brushed the ground and kept his tail down. He had been practicing so if he ever got the courage...he could sneak up on Ratmask.

She lifted it up, holding it out towards Tumblefoot with her jaws. Spiderfang inspected the crouch closely, orange eyes piercing down at her grandson. A hint of recognition sparked in her eyes, and a few memories flashed in her mind. She slashed the distraction from her head, instead trying her method of pressing her paw into his shoulder again...this time her paw met resistance, and the nudge was not enough to fell her grandson. She removed her paw, whiskers twitching once again as she leaned down for him this time. “You.” She started, her voice as steady as stone. “Are quite a natural.” She decided after a moment of pause, nodding once and lifting her head back up. “I see you’ve been taking this seriously. I should hope you keep doing that, Longkit, when you are given a fully experienced mentor.”

Tumblefoot nodded his thanks and carefully weaved the brambles into the patch. He asked for a couple more and tested the patch after every bramble he weaved. Once satisfied it would hold, he nodded to himself. "That oughta do it."
Longkit's ears perked at Spiderfang's words. He finally looked at her, unable to hide the surprise he felt from her praise. Though, he wasn't sure he'd get a mentor like she thought. "Uh...thanks..."

You don’t have to stick around, I know you’ve been itching to hop away.” She teased, much to Snakesong’s chagrin. “U-uh...That’s not...I’m just going to...go.” She scooted away, taking the pathway she was given to escape the conversation, and pad away quickly. “She’s so shy. It’s almost endearing.” Burninghope chuckled. “No need to thank me. Keep up the good work, Longkit. There’s plenty more to learn.” Spiderfang reminded, before she waited until the two kits were standing together again. “Now. I want to show you both how to lunge. Have you been shown that?”

Longkit sat back down beside his sister and shook his head at Spiderfang.

Longkit sat back down beside his sister and shook his head at Spiderfang. “They’re certainly quite the pair!” Burninghope admitted, though inwardly she was a bit envious of their closeness recently. She supposed a part of her wanted something like that, with someone like that...She glanced at Tumblefoot, momentarily distracted. “Huh? Oh! Plans? Ah, not really! I finished patrol earlier. Sooo. I’m free.” “Then I’ll show you the basics.” Spiderfang nodded. “Start in your crouches. The key is to transition from slow movement to fast movement, as quickly as you can.” She lowered herself down, stalking forwards a bit, before she lunged quickly forwards. Even in her final moon of Queenhood, she had not lost her strictly trained memory of combat moves.

"Well, maybe you and I can do something?" Tumblefoot smiled. "Have you eaten yet? We can share my scrawny lizard."
Longkit blinked as he watched Spiderfang. Moving from slow movements to fast ones? He hadn't done that yet. He'd always taken things slow to make sure he wasn't seen or heard. He glanced at his sister, she was probably better at this lesson than he was.

I’ll share with you.” Lightkit watched excitedly, nudging Longkit. “Did you see how fast that was! We can totally do that!” She plopped into her clumsy crouch, though she was clearly a pretty fast kit, with how she darted forwards to imitate her grandmother.

Tumblefoot's smile grew wider when she accepted. He didn't feel back that his prey was lousy, it was prey and they would share it together. He got up and followed after her, walking close enough that their pelts would touch. "Maybe later we can try and go catch another vulture?"
Longkit flicked his ear in doubt as he watched his sister. With so much energy, of course she was that fast already. He took a deep breath and lowered back into his crouch. Ears back in determination, Longkit lunged forward, but his paws made too much noise when they scraped the ground and he wasn't even half as fast as his sister.

“Oho, feeling confident? Well, I wouldn’t say no if it means feeding the clan. And seeing that crazy jump of yours again.” Burninghope snickered, remembering proudly their catch. She eyed the lizard he had caught, her tail flicking. “What would we lure it out with?”
Spiderfang watched the two kits, looking intently at both of them as she commented. “Lightkit, your speed will certainly be a strength of yours. Work on your balance and you’ll be hard to catch. Longkit, you may be slower, but your form is better. Put more focus on your strides rather than your stance though. You need not overly exert if you have no need to.” She instructed firmly.

Tumblefoot flicked his ear in thought and glanced down at his lizard. "Well, we could use the lizard, but we'd risk spoiling a piece of prey if we fail."
Longkit flicked his ear again and thought over Spiderfang's words and how he could change what he did to make his lunge better.

After more silence from Maplepaw, Fuzzypaw let her tail still and quietly sighed; she silently vowed to befriend this cat, even if it took moons and moons. Until then, she'd let him be.
"Right, sure," she mewed, trying to keep the concern from her voice. "Um, I'll see you later, Maplepaw." With that, the cream furred apprentice turned and left the medicine den, her tail and ears drooping as she emerged back into the ShadowClan camp. Her dejected mood didn't last long when she noticed Tumblefoot and Burninghope near the elders' den, conversing over a lizard. Feeling a sudden sense of duty, she cast her blue gaze around the camp to try to find her spiky-furred mentor, Thistlestalk, or some other apprentices, hoping to do some hunting.

Rowanpaw spat bile out of his mouth as he padded back into camp. His fur was all fluffed from having to collect mouse bile for the medicine cats. He didn't see the point. It wasn't like Closesky or Falcontalon would ever let anyone use it on them. Yet, the medicine cats were adamant about collecting some. I suppose its something to have in the stores. After the fire, they probably needed all the herbs they could get. But why do I have to be the one collecting them? He paused closer to the apprentice den to try and get some of the bile off his paws again. This time by wiping his paws against the ground instead of making the mistake of licking them. I'd much rather be training....

Fuzzypaw's eyes caught Rowanpaw as he plopped down beside the apprentice's den and began to rub his paws on the ground. She padded over to the gray apprentice from where she'd been moping previously, her tail high in a friendly greeting.
"Rowanpaw!" she mewed to the older apprentice. "Have you seen Thistlestalk by chance? I wanted to ask if I could-"
Suddenly she pulled up short, her face wrinkled in disgust and making her appear more kitten-like than ever. "Yuck!" she said. "You reek of mouse bile!"

Tumblefoot flicked his ear in thought and glanced down at his lizard. "Well, we could use the lizard, but we'd risk spoiling a piece of prey if we fail." Longkit flicked his ear again and thought over Spiderfang's words and how he could change what he did to make his lunge better. “Hm. Unless one of us doesn’t eat it, and we leave half of it to use to lure in the vulture.” Burninghope hummed thoughtfully, trying to be as clever as she could. In a way, she wanted to impress him. Spiderfang looked down at her grandkits, the steel in her eyes softening ever so slightly. “You two have grown so much. I remember when Leaffrost told me when she was expecting kits. The delight in her eyes at the mere thought that you two were going to be born. And here you are. Already learning your crouches.”

"Then you should eat half of it." Tumblefoot nudged it toward her. "You must need it after working so hard today."
Longkit glanced toward the nursery at the mention of his mother. He didn't doubt that she was excited to have them. She told them that every day. He shook out his thin pelt and focused back on his crouch and how he could lunge forward faster.

She wanted the same, to care for him in that way. Spiderfang watched them for a moment longer, before Lightkit suddenly squeaked out. She limped on her paw, frowning miserably, as a small thorn dug into her pad. She sniffled lightly. “Ow! Ow ow! Stupid thorn!”
