(Hey Fox.) Whorlpaw lightly frowned at Lilypaw. "I know how to act at a gathering, Lilypaw." "I need to stretch myself out." Cedarstar's voice was a little strained when he relaxed from the stretch. "I have to make it to fourtrees after all." And jump on the Great Rock, he thought with nervousness. "I'm alright, Cardinalblaze." “I should hope so.” Lilypaw sighed softly, finally calming back into her kinder manner. “You’ve always been positively energetic. I think alot of us will need that normalcy.” She admitted, before blinking. “Are your brothers coming?” “Only if you’re certain.” Cardinalblaze flicked his ears, stepping back to give his leader more room. “I...sorry, I probably sound like a hounding queen, huh? I still haven’t had much luck in curbing that, even now.” He mewed, sheepish but apologetic.

(Duskpaw is a she-cat btw)
Whorlpaw tilted her ears back at Lilypaw's positively energetic comment. She was trying to keep optimistic, but it felt more strained than natural and she knew it was because of the fears she hid. She had to keep hiding them though, Lilypaw was right. The Clan needed some normalcy. "Yeah, though I'm not sure they're as thrilled about it as I am. Palepaw wants to support our father and doesn't really care too much for the other clans. I want to see if the other Clans were hurt as badly as we were."
"You sound no different than everyone else who's walked into the leader's den." Cedarstar smiled reassuringly at Cardinalblaze. "What happened was terrifying, but I'm alright. We all survived." barely, he added quietly. He looked around the camp again and sat down to give the pain in his skin some time to ease up. "Your worrying just shows you care, Cardinalblaze, just like everyone else. I think the only ones who will feel hounded by it are your kits--should you have anything." He looked at Cardinalblaze and attempted a lighter tone. "I certainly felt hounded whenever Closesky or Softmist cared too much."

(I’m so tired xD )
“Palepaw fits that description, certainly.” Lilypaw mused, though it was not unkind. “I’ll be telling my father as much as I can. This is the first gathering in a while that he’s staying back. I think he’s needed to help keep the clan at ease while we’re gone.” She admitted.
“My father detests gatherings...or at least he seems to.” Honeypaw muttered, looking over at where his father was still anxiously talking with Lynxdapple. His aggravation at Whorlpaw seemed to recede as he sighed. “I’m sure it will be an...experience, certainly. I estimate that Thunderclan, if they even show up, were affected badly, sharing our closest border after all.“
Cardinalblaze’s pelt grew warm at the mention of kits, the thought having crossed his mind often. Cloudflight and himself had been too busy training apprentices to think about it...he didn’t even know if she’d want kits. Even so, he offered Cedarstar a grateful smile through his anxiousness. “I sometimes like to think I get special hounding privileges as your first apprentice.”

(no worries! Its an easy mistake ) Whorlpaw nodded to Lilypaw. "That's certainly something that Lynxdapple can do." She glanced at Honeypaw. In all honesty, she really didn't have an opinion on Goldberry. "I think gatherings are fun. I am a little worried how badly ThunderClan was hurt. They were the only Clan we didn't have enough time to warn." Cedarstar looked Cardinalblaze in the eye at the comment. First apprentice. Cedarstar almost sighed. Cardinalblaze had been his only apprentice. He had thought he would've had another one by now, but as leader, he wouldn't have time to train another apprentice of his own. Not with the fire and his burns, and the rebuild, and the current apprentices needing evaluations, and the borders needed checked, and hunting patrols weren't finding any prey--he wondered if anyone found Gregory or Shimmer--and the medicine cats needed their herbs restocked, and stupid Ashrock, and...Oh for StarClan's sake, how old were Rustlekit and Spottedkit? Cedarstar's ear flicked rapidly when he stole a glance at the nursery to see if he could spot Spottedkit and Rustlekit. He had nearly forgotten his own kits' ceremonies, he didn't want to risk forgetting another one--likely, Spiderfang would give him an earful if he forgot...His fur was starting to rise at everything that needed done, but he managed to remember that Cardinalblaze was still sitting there. Cedarstar cleared his throat and shook out his pelt. "I suppose all former apprentices do it. I can't tell you enough how many times Closesky complained about one of his apprentices nagging at him."

(We're still shipping Honey and Whorl, right?) Whorlpaw intently stared at Honeypaw, waiting his reply, but when Lilypaw spoke up, she shook her head. Lilypaw was right. They shouldn't be squabbling, but it wasn't her fault that Honeypaw was such a frog-brain. She looked away from both of them. "The other Clans will respect my father, you'll see," she muttered mostly to herself. Cedarstar nodded in quiet agreement. He didn't want to admit it, but he even he knew that Cliffheart was one of the factors that kept the peace between SkyClan and ShadowClan. Spiritstar lost a lot of her kin to the darkness of AdderClan, with Cliffheart her only sibling left, Cedarstar hoped she wouldn't try anything against ShadowClan. "ShadowClan can certainly rebuild." Cedarstar looked around the camp once again, noticing how different everything looked compared to when they first returned. The dens were nearly rebuild and the camp had the bone structure of a wall around it. "Everyone has done a great job." Cedarstar idly glanced at the nursery, remembering the first time he reinforced it with Starrylight. "I should've been helping with everything." He didn't mean to slip those words out, but it was true. He should've done more to help the Clan after such a deadly fire and yet, he had just been laying in Northstar's den and dreaming about black-eyed cat. Closesky shook his head for Falcontalon not to worry. "I'm doing alright. I'm keeping myself busy, keeping active. Honestly, I always hated how lazy elders could be and I don't want to be like that." "I'm alright." Palepaw huffed and pulled himself to his paws. He shook out his pelt to shake off the screw up. "But I want to try again. I know I can get it." He looked at Duskpaw. "Would you mind showing me again?" Falcontalon flicked his tail, wondering if he should have been doing more for the clan. “Good, laying around never does anyone any good unless It’s ordered by Snowdance. » he mewed attempting a weak joke. « Maybe I should ask Cloudscar if I could join a shorter border patrol now and then to get my legs moving again. Perhaps you could join me. » Duskpaw nodded « Sure Palepaw! » the apprentice moved away from her family and readied her stance. The she-cat leapt into the air, her tiny body twisting gracefully in the air. On the way down, she swiped a paw out as fast as she could before bringing it back in towards her body. She landed with a small “oof”, but kept her balance. Starrylight chuckled softly, “remember to bend your legs on the landing Duskpaw.” Duskpaw grinned sheepishly “Right! See Palepaw, no one does it right everytime!”

Closesky twitched his whiskers in amusement. "I would like that very much, but perhaps we should just ask Cedarstar and Cloudsscar if we could become warriors again?"
"Eventually I will." Palepaw nudged his sister in teasing before stepping back to give himself room. He went over what Duskpaw did in his mind before jumping up to attempt the move again. When he pulled his paw in, he adjusted with his tail and his landing was better, he didn't land on his shoulder. However, he still had a bit of a wobble to his stance.

Falcontalon snorted, "I don't mean every sunhigh, I just want to get out of this camp again. We both know neither of us really like being elders. I'm pretty sure the whole clan knows that."
Duskpaw let out a cheer as Palepaw landed "That was awesome!"
Starrylight nodded in agreement, offering Palepaw a proud smile. "A little more practice and you'll have it perfect Palepaw. You've got the technique down, you just have to figure out how it works for you."

Closesky nodded in agreement. "I'm quite positive the whole Clan knows that. I would love to join a patrol, but what I would prefer is taking the apprentices out training sometime--if their mentors are busy of course."
Palepaw lifted his head a little higher at his mother's and sister's praise. "Let's do it again." He smiled at Duskpaw, and for a moment forgot they were supposed to be preparing for the gathering. "We'll both have it perfect!"

Falcontalon purred, nodding his head in the direction of their shared grandkits. "I'm sure Palepaw, Duskpaw and Whorlpaw would be ecstatic to have a special training session with you." Falcontalon shook his head, "I can't believe how big they've gotten, and Mouseclaw's kits... Starclan I have great-grand kits! Now that makes me feel old."
Starrylight purred, "Don't tire yourself out too much you two, remember we'll be heading out to the gathering soon."
Duskpaw gasped, standing up a bit straighter. "We can't look tired for the other clans! Shadowclan must look stronger than ever." She mewed, dropping into a crouch and baring her teeth in the most intimidating way she could. Which was not very intimidating at all.

"Though, fire is...clearly unpredictable." "...I can't imagine a gathering without Thunderclan, or a world without Thunderclan nipping at our hides." Lilypaw admitted quietly. "All we can do is wait and see. I hope the apprentices I've come to know are alright." "I can imagine that. Spiderfang alone has enough of a tongue to lash, let alone Tigerfury's quick temper. We can't all be as patient as Mouseclaw." Cardinalblaze humored, before his eyes grew fond. "I look forward to Vixenflame doing the same. I never realized how proud a cat could feel until she earned her name. I enjoyed every second of training her." He admitted.

Rowanpaw purred and shifted with excitement. "You think so? I think it would be cool to have friends in the other Clans, but ShadowClan always comes first, just like you and father say." (oops, I missed this.) “That’s right.” Sootwhisker agreed. “You just have to make sure you don’t get too close with any rival cats. But it’s good to have friendly ties with them.”

nice ^.^ I'm procrastinating writing my paper that's due on Thursday ahaha. I have like 4.5 out of 10 pages of it written and I'm so bored. Here's some starters if you wanna rp :3 )
Bumbleskip was sitting in the shadows of camp, his head on his paws and his eyes looking far away. The tom had barely done anything since he'd returned from fourtrees, simply doing what he was told and returning.
Mouseclaw was letting Spottedkit wrestle him, hoping his son would be able to join him at the next gathering.
Thistlestalk was sitting outside the warrior's den, trying his best to make his spiky white fur lay down flat for the gathering.
Hazelblaze was eating a small frog in the clearing, every couple minutes looking towards Bumbleskip with a frown, worried for her father.

"Yeah, I'm sure Lightningstar is wise enough to not yeet himself into the fire." Whorlpaw looked from Honeypaw to Lilypaw. "I don't have many friends in the other Clans, but Ashrock and my father have always grumbled about ThunderClan for as long as I can remember. I'm sure they're okay, though."
Cedarstar smiled softly and looked back at Cardinalblaze. "It's a great feeling, knowing you've trained a young cat to a warrior. I hope everyone can come to appreciate it."
Rowanpaw nodded curtly. "Of course! I just want someone to talk to while there so I'm not annoying Strikepaw too much," He laughed.
(I got a ton of other characters open too if anyone wants to rp with them)

Even so, she was still not unkind, moreso surprised. Honeypaw was less playful, scowling softly. “Cedarstar shouldn’t have to deal with a cat like him. Nobody should.” He thought of Coalpaw’s predicament, still horribly angered at the older tom. “It’s one of the best feelings. It makes you feel like a true Warrior.” Cardinalblaze nodded.

"This was before the whole...incident..." Whorlpaw muttered quietly. "But I've seen Ashrock work really hard to help the Clan since the fire. Maybe he feels bad?"
Cedarstar nodded in agreement and his gaze trailed over to Closesky across the camp. "I can understand why some cats can get hooked on that feeling." He let out a slow sigh and looked up at the sky to check the time of day. They would have to head for the gathering soon and he wasn't looking forward to it. To put it off, he continued his conversation with Cardinalblaze. "Maybe someday there will be time for me to train another apprentice."

And Riverclan cats fly.” Honeypaw huffed coldly, averting his eyes to his paws, narrowed and sour. “Everyone’s been working their paws off. Ashrock could be trying to do what he can again for leadership.” He muttered. “He’d never be leader.” Lilypaw mewed bluntly. “There are far more qualified options if anything happened. He wouldn’t be popular, either. I have no opinion of him beyond that he better stay in line if he ever wants to regain anyone’s trust.” She shrugged. “I certainly hope you. Your mentoring made me feel more confident. I’d love to see another cat experience that too.” Cardinalblaze mewed supportively.

Whorlpaw shuffled her paws. She wasn't sure how to feel about Ashrock. He had done a terrible thing to her father and sometimes she even found it hard to believe that Ashrock could've actually done something like that, but...he did. Palepaw, Starrylight, and everyone in the Clan made their feelings on Ashrock pretty clear. "I think he's trying to do better...he may never be leader, but I hope everyone can forgive him eventually."
Cedarstar gave Cardinalblaze a grateful smile. "Thank you, that really means a lot."

Coalpaw’s scars reminded him everyday of Ashrock’s blatant refusal to be the cat Coalpaw was so seemingly convinced he was. Didn’t anyone see that blind forgiveness brought nothing but pain? “While I see your stance, Palepaw, I also see Honeypaw’s” Lilypaw admitted. “Nothing makes me feel better than when Ratmask calls me over to help with a task or to train...I feel like alot of the clan would change their minds if he focused less on working by himself and more on working with future Warriors. I’m a bit surprised that Cedarstar still allows him to be his mentor.” She admitted. Honeypaw huffed slightly, but did not respond to the statement.

Whorlpaw flicked her ear at Honeypaw's comment and she remembered how Coalpaw was when he joined them for a training session. Palepaw was almost better than him. "Cedarstar only allows that because it was Northstar who decided that," she glanced at Lilypaw and muttered quietly. She had overheard her father ranting to their mother about Northstar's choice. He didn't agree with it, but he respected Northstar too much to go against it. "Though, Ashrock won't do Coalpaw any good if he's still stuck in the medicine den."

“Crystalpaw and I will gain our Warrior names, and Coalpaw will have to watch, knowing he couldn’t keep up no matter what he did. He used to pin me down with ease. Now he can’t last 2 moments when we spar. I thought he was going to die, when we found him out on the territory...” For a moment, Honeypaw’s voice was softer with sadness, though it quickly turned gritted and sharp once again as he grunted. “He’s not sorry. He has his ears flat because his plan didn’t work. If he had succeeded in ruining Cedarstar’s deputyship, do you honestly think he would have vied for forgiveness? To sabotage your own brother...and for what? 9 lives and your own ambitions?”
“Ashrock is Palepaw’s kin.” Lilypaw reminded her younger cousin, her voice understanding but also leveled. “Just like Coalpaw is yours. Of course you both would differ on opinions. But you can at least agree that an Ashrock who works for the clan is better than one who works for only himself, right?”

(You keep calling Whorlpaw, Palepaw xD)
Whorlpaw frowned heavily at Honeypaw. "The 'what ifs' of him succeeding don't matter, because he didn't. I couldn't tell you how Ashrock might feel in that scenario, and besides, its the now that matters. I've seen how hard Ashrock has been working around the camp. For StarClan's sake, he found all the bodies of our lost clanmates by himself and he helped the elder's bury them! He's stopped complaining about helping Snowdance and Opalmist in the medicine den. I think he's starting to feel bad for what he's done and I hope the Clan can move forward for the better!"

And until he does, I have nothing to feel for him.” Honeypaw growled lightly. “He may have “proven” himself to you...but he hasn’t to me.” He shook his head firmly. “Would you honestly be keen and happy if you saw Palepaw or Duskpaw neglected by a cat that’s supposed to teach them? I see how well they do, how much they like their mentors. How well you do with yours. Coalpaw doesn’t have that. I may not be the kindest cat in the clan, but Coalpaw deserves better than that. I’m the only one who should have to deal with a lizard-brained mentor.” “Honeypaw likes to pretend that he’s not fond of Oakstalk, but we all know better.” Lilypaw tossed her eyes, though she did agree with the tom’s words. She thought of Hollypaw or Oakpaw being left behind in camp, or being pathetic in sparring and hunting. She didn’t know if she would forgive that or not. She admired Whorlpaw’s capability to see good in the worst situations though.

(No worries, I just think its funny ) "I didn't say that I agreed with how Ashrock was treating Coalpaw." Whorlpaw glared flatly at Honeypaw. This mouse-brained tom kept putting words in her mouth and too stuck in his own ways to see what was going on. "I'm just saying that Ashrock is trying! Not many mentors have been taking their apprentices out with what happened because we're all trying to rebuild the camp, Ashrock is trying to rebuild the camp too! He might start taking Coalpaw out once the Clan's in a better state, but you're throwing stones at him without even giving him a chance to try!"

Closesky purred at the thought of training with Cedarstar's kits. "That would be something. Falcontalon Flicked his ears looking up to the stars that were slowly appearing in the sky, he wondered internally of all the things Closesky had seen in his life, he was right of course, Closesky was moons older than Falcontalon and yet, here they both were in the elder's den together. "You've seen everything Closesky, you've seen every cat that's in this clan grow up." he mewed thoughtfully.
