Tumblefoot grinned ear to ear. "I'm grateful to have you too, Burninghope." He leaned forward and pressed his nose to her cheek. "ShadowClan wouldn't be home without you."
"No." Longkit muttered in reply to his mother. He didn't want to talk about it.

Mouseclaw's frown deepened as Longkit refused to look at him. He made a mental note to bring it up with Spottedkit and Rustlekit later. He looked back down at Lightkit sighing softly, she didn't seem to have any problem playing with his kits.
Starrylight padded over as she saw how stubborn it was being. "Here I'll add my weight to it and you can weave it in. Sometimes it takes more than one cat, do not get discouraged." she mewed gently. She reared up pressing her two front paws onto the stubborn bramble, shoving it down towards the open space.

Burninghope’s eyes widened lightly at the contact, her fur warming as she considered what she could do. She followed her urging instincts that told her to brush back in return, and so she did so, giving a small purr. “That’s...actually very sweet of you to say. You...ah, you like me that much?” She asked almost tentatively, hopefully.
Leaffrost could tell something was bothering Longkit, and though she did not understand the heaviness he seemed to be giving off, she did know that this was one of those mothering times, was it not? She liked making saddened cats happier, and this was no different. “Longkit, come along with me, and we can take a good walk. Mouseclaw, can you watch my darling Lightkit for a moment?”

Palepaw frowned lightly, with Starrylight's added weight, he was able to get the bramble where it needed to go. "How can something that sounds so easy, be so difficult?"
"Well, yeah." Tumblefoot purred when she brushed back against him. "You're my best friend and we'll always have each other if I can help it!"
Longkit looked up at his mother when she suggested going with her. He didn't get himself in trouble for not talking to Mouseclaw, did he? A frown lined his face, who was he kidding? Of course he did. Mouseclaw was a respected and honored member of the Clan. Longkit pouted and looked down at his paws, bitterly following his mother.

Mouseclaw watched Leaffrost and Longkit go, worried for them both. He got up, nudging Lightkit to her paws as well. "Come on little one. What would you like to do?"
Starrylight ran her tail along Palepaw's back in comfort. "You just got a difficult bramble. Your clanmates are always here to help you if something is difficult Palepaw. Don't ever forget that."
Duskpaw piped back in, trotting over to them. "She had to help me with some too. But the ones that are hard to bend mean there going to be great support for the nursery. The queens are never going to be cold!"

Burninghope offered a humored chuckle, agreeing with him in that. He truly was her greatest friend...and yet, a part of her was almost forlorn at the thought of it ending at just that...why was it bothering her so much? She had just become a Warrior, had just succeeded in her training and in so much more...and yet, she didn’t want Tumblefoot to move away from her. “Oh, of course. I don’t think any of the clan are closer than we are.”
After a moment of padding, Leaffrost looked down at Longkit and tipped her head softly. “Are you saddened, Longkit? I can see all the thoughts in your clever mind, are they too much?”
“Mmm...” Lightkit watched her mother and Longkit go with worry in her eyes, but she did look up at Mouseclaw. “Can we go see if the elders can tell me a story?”

Sootwhisker sighed. "I don't know. Twolegs are... strange. I can't understand how kittypets can deal with them." Sootwhisker stopped talking as the burnt carrionplace came into view. "It usually doesn't doesn't look like this, obviously."

Palepaw smiled softly at his mother's and sister's support. "How many more will the den need?"
Tumblefoot twitched his whiskers, not so sure about that. It seemed Starrylight and Cedarstar were closer to each other than he was to Burninghope, or Goldberry and Swirlheart, Lynxdapple and Sandflower...He could go on. Tumblefoot suddenly brightened up at a new thought in his head. "Oh, I don't know." He smiled teasingly. "But why don't we make sure?" The young tom suddenly scooted closer and pressed completely against her to not allow much space between them. He grinned. "There! Now, no one is closer than we are!"
Longkit looked away from his mother so she couldn't see his eyes. "I'm fine."
Rowanpaw slowed when they neared the carrionplace, the black and char and the remains of the fire left him speechless. This place was probably more terrifying now than it was before. He turned a wide gaze to his mentor.

Sootwhisker approached the carrionplace to inspect it, tapping a crumbling piece of twoleg scrap with his paw. "I wonder if any of the rats survived..." He mused before turning back to Rowanpaw. Noticing the scared look in his eyes, he backed away from the pile. "Uh, we could go now, if you want to. We don't need to stay here." He could understand how a sight like this must be frighting to a cat just out of the nursery.

Mouseclaw nodded, "Come on then, I'm sure Closesky or Falcontalon would be happy to tell you a story." he mewed with a smile. Beginning to move towards the elder's den he frowned seeing his father working on clearing the debris. "Falcontalon! Is your shoulder well enough for you to be helping?"
Falcontalon turned, surprised to see Mouseclaw and his great-granddaughter together. "Mouseclaw you don't need to worry about me. My shoulder is holding up fine these days. You're not going to yell at Closesky too are you?" he asked, pointing his tail towards his son's old mentor who also had been helping.
Mouseclaw snorted "No one can control Closesky we all know that." he mewed warmly. Nudging Lightkit forward he brought attention to her once more. "Lightkit would like a story though, perhaps one of you need a break?"
Starrylight hummed as she appraised the den carefully. "For now, not too many more. Then we can move onto the warriors den and the apprentice's den since the elder's den has already been worked on as well. Once the forest grows back more we may need to reinforce the nursery again, but it will be okay, especially since we're nearly in greenleaf now."

"The Clan used to hunt there a lot?" Rowanpaw asked, quickly following after his mentor.
Closesky flicked his ear as he watched Mouseclaw and Lightkit pad up. "I was going to see if Slatepaw wanted a break from Kinkfire. But, if you really want a story." He fumbled a frown on his face. That's what elders did, wasn't it? Lay around and tell stories all the time. Closesky huffed. "I suppose I could think of something."
Palepaw snickered with a twitch of his whiskers. "I saw Falcontalon and Closesky working on the elder's den all by themselves."

"I saw Falcontalon and Closesky working on the elder's den all by themselves." Mouseclaw gave his former mentor a grateful look. "Leaffrost won't be long Closesky. I promise." Starrylight shook her head, a fond smile on her face. "Your grandfathers will never sit down until they've joined Starclan. It's just who they are. They're too stubborn to fall into the elder rank peacefully. Once we're done here we should probably go see if we can help them. You can show them what you've learned." Duskpaw wriggled with excitement "I want to show them! They'll be so proud that we found the brambles and that we weaved them in ourselves!"

(Fun!)
Closesky flicked his ear and huffed. "So, what kind of story did you want to hear, little one?" He asked, looking at Lightkit.
Palepaw perked up at that thought. He couldn't wait to show Falcontalon and Closesky what he learned. Just imagine how proud they'd be! "Okay!" He looked at his sister. "Help me with these last few brambles!"

Duskpaw nodded, scampering over to help him weave them in. "We can tell Cedarstar when we're done too. Do you think he'll be proud of us too?"
Starrylight purred, stepping back to watch her children work, pride and love for them swelling in her chest.

"I think so." Palepaw smiled back at his sister. "He'll be glad we're helping rebuild the camp when he can't." He grabbed another bramble and started pulling it toward the den.

Starrylight nodded in agreement, leaning forward to help Duskpaw with a tricky spot. "He'll be very happy to know all three of you have been helping."
Duskpaw blinked, realizing she hadn't seen her sister in a while, "Where is Whorlpaw?" she asked, turning to look at Palepaw curiously. "Have you seen her?'

Palepaw looked over at the apprentice den at his sister's question. "I last saw here by our den. We both watched Swiftstar come into camp." He furrowed his brow, realizing he didn't know where Whorlpaw had gone after that. "But it doesn't look like she's over there anymore."

Lightkit looked at the elder with wide eyes, not expecting a story from Closesky, but feeling pleased all the same. She bounced excitedly, exclaiming. “Can I have a story about Northstar? Mother talked about her before...I want to be like her.”
“Darling.” Leaffrost shook her head softly to Longkit. “You have spiderwebs in your head, I can see them...Did you know that I will love you no matter what you share with me? My little shadow, why have you lost your delight? Are you unhappy?” She asked gently.

Closesky twitched his whiskers in amusement, he was always willing to talk about Northstar. "You want to be just like Northstar, huh? Well, tell me first, why is that?"
"The other kits think they're so special." Longkit mumbled almost incoherently. He still didn't look at his mother, but he was at least opening up a little bit. "Even that worthless kittypet."

“Oh! Well, mother said once that Northstar loved Shadowclan like a bird loved the breeze. One couldn’t be without the other. I love Shadowclan a whole bunch too.” Lightkit explained as best as she could, a gleam of hopeful ambition in her eyes.
Leaffrost looked thoughtful for a moment before she gave a small smile of understanding. “Ah. So it is about the other kits...Sometimes other kits will look or talk in ways that lots of cats will choose over the way you look or talk. Do you feel different than other kits, my little shadow?” She asked. “I think we should wait and see about the little newcomer. What if they’re useful in the future?”

(I ALMOST MISSED THIS WHOOPS) Burninghope perked up with surprise at the sudden movement, her fur going hot at how close he pressed to her. Even so, she felt a sense of joy, her tail curling up with affection as she snickered deeply. “Starclan, I guess we are! Did you know that your fur is very warm? If it were Leafbare, I’d be pressed to you all the time.” She thought of that and shifted her paws a bit with quiet longing.

(lol)
Closesky chuckled. "Well, that is certainly one way to put it. To Northstar, ShadowClan was her everything. You see, she lost her father as a kit and her mother and sister after she became a warrior and her mate not long after becoming leader. She felt all she had left was ShadowClan, so she dedicated her everything to it. Her clanmates she treated like family and she always stood up for what was right. If she saw a chance to find favor for the Clan in some way she took it."
"He's kittypet and he's not even related to Mouseclaw or Spiderfang!" Longkit snapped back at his mother, frowning up at her. "He doesn't belong!"
"To bad it isn't leaf-bare then." Tumblefoot flicked his ear and managed to keep a smile of small confidence instead of losing it to embarrassment. He didn't move away from her. "Your fur is extremely soft, so you're welcome to lean up against me anytime!"

"We hunted there pretty often, I guess. Rats aren't like normal prey though, I've always been kind of scared of them." Sootwhisker admitted with a chuckle. "I'll never forget one time when I was an apprentice and one of those rats jumped at me out of nowhere, I was so terrified that I couldn't move. Luckily, my mentor was there to save my poor pelt." He led Rowanpaw towards the WindClan border as they spoke. "They like fighting back, and they can carry nasty diseases. If you ever get bit by one go to Snowdance or Opalmist right away." He advised.
(oof hope I'm getting the borders all right. I'm not too familiar with the ShadowClan territory.)

Rowanpaw flattened his ears. If rats were so terrible then why did the Clan eat them? Because prey is prey. He remembered his father telling him that. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind." Rowanpaw nodded curtly. "Any rat that comes after me will end up on the fresh-kill pile!" (You're good! All the borders are thunderpaths with tunnels under each one. Can't go wrong there! )
