Cloudface grinned even wider and picked up his mouse. He plopped himself right down next to Ravenfur. The warrior looked over the territory. The river was bright and sparkling in the morning light but it seemed slower now and a bit low. The trout are going to be easy to catch. He thought, happy that it both rhymed and would bring trout to the clan. He began to eat the mouse, trout and the river on his mind. After a few bites, he spoke, "Did the river look low to you too?"

"I guess we can go on a patrol. Would it be us two, or would we have another warrior or two with us?" She asked, tilting her head, "I'd probably need an extra set of paws to help me carry. So while you and another warrior do the hunting I'll do the gathering with another cat. If that's alright with you, I mean?" She meowed, wings pressing against her sides. Snowfall was a smaller than average cat and her wings were seemingly larger than her, but they were of an average SwiftClan cat's size. They were powerful and silent - she moved like the snow and was just as delicate as it was. Deadly, too, if provoked. Though she wasn't the best at fighting, she knew just how to poison and use her herbs to inflict damage to enemies.
"Not really. Been out gathering herbs for Snowfall. It's difficult. All those herbs have different names and smells and uses and I just don't know how she does it. I wouldn't want to be stuck in there with leaves all day, but I do look up to her for that. Giving up the life of a warrior to keep us healthy." She meowed, trying more to start a conversation than end it. SHe knew he was a quiet cat, but she wanted to be close friends with him again, as they were during their apprenticeship. "I don't know. I thought being a warrior would be more spontaneous, you know? But all we've done is go on patrols and hunt and stuff. Not that it's a bad thing, I guess, but I've been in the mood to look around the territory. My mentor didn't really take me out that far, maybe only to the Apprentice Cliff, occasionally to the forest. I'm sure you know what that's like, right? Our mentors were friends." The she-cat paused. "Just want to stretch my wings is what I mean."

Ravenfur smiled as Cloudface sat next to her, and turned towards the river, noticing the tree line wasn't as close to the bank as usual. "Yeah, it does look a little low," she said, her stomach grumbling, reminding her she hadn't eaten yet today. "Do you want to go hunting, maybe catch some trout?" she asked Cloudface, mimicking his thoughts.

Sorry for the poof )
Dawnstar nodded along. She would like to go with just the two of them, but Snowfall was right. That many herbs would require an extra set of paws. Or she was willing to believe it would take an extra set of paws. "Yeah, that sounds fine. Where do we need to go?" She asked, starting to walk out of the den. Her wings itched to take to the sky. She already had some cats in mind. As she recalled Nightchaser and Hailfrost were awake so they would be easy to choose. She made her way outside before looking back.
Nightchaser nodded as the she-cat spoke. He understood the sentiment. He did miss her a bit and the training sessions they had together were pretty fun. "Want to go one a fly then?" He suggested weakly. He really didn't know if she wanted to, but he wanted to see if he could find the twoleg thing still. Two eyes would be better than one. Then again, he was probably going to keep this secret. Looking for junk isn't really stretching the wings. "We could go north. It doesn't really have much but hills so there is plenty of room to stretch your wings." He suggested, trying to speak more. He felt like she would take it wrong if he didn't speak up.
Cloudface had started eating when the she-cat responded. He gave a nod. "That is what I was thinking. With the sun out and water so low, the trout will be super easy to catch." He said before finishing up his mouse. "Anyway, there is nothing in the pile and we don't want you to starve now." The tabby stood up and shook out his fur. "Ready?"

"Well, the river commonly has the marigold and juniper berries. Maybe horsetail if we're lucky. Juniper would have to be in dry areas... so maybe near some pines... Cobwebs are easy to find, they're typically in trees. Oh, and the ivy! They grow on trees and are pretty easy to get. So that's not a total concern as of yet for me." She meowed, picking a few spare ivy leaves in her mouth and stepping out of her den, trotting after her sister. Her eyes skimmed for Hailfrost and Nightchaser, but her eyes missed them; they were standing behind the well and out of her line of sight.
"If you're up for it, I'm more than willing." She meowed, offering a small smile at the tom. She had taken a few more bites out of her piece of prey before she nudged the squirrel to Nightchaser. "Maybe you should eat before leaving. Don't wanna go out on an empty stomach." She said. She cared about him and didn't want him out without eating. "We can stop by the twoleg nest, if you'd like?" She asked, knowing that as apprentices, they'd gone out towards the place, and often stayed for hours at a time. "I haven't been there in moons."

Ravenfur smiled and stood up. "Of course." She looked over the edge of the tower and jumped. She loved the feeling of wind through her fur and feathers, and the exhilaration of falling so fast. She was only a few tail-lengths from the ground before she opened her wings, and leveled out with the ground. With a few flaps, she was back up the tower, hovering in the air in front of Cloudface. "You coming?" she asked, grinning.

Dawnstar blinked as the medicine cat rattled off about herbs. She did her best to keep up in hopes to help her sister to find the herbs, but it was too much. She would never be able to keep them straight in her mind. Hopefully Snowfall would be fine on her own. "Sounds good." She said with a nod. She stretched out her wings when she made it to the courtyard. Nightchaser and Hailfrost appeared to be gone. "I'll help you with the herbs instead of hunting." She said, guessing the two had flown off to hunt.
Nightchaser smiled. This could be fun. He nodded and started to eat the squirrel. he would hate to have to cut the flight early just because he was starving. And, for some reason, he got a warm feeling from Hailfrost offering part of her prey. He would think about that later. The comment about the twoleg place caught his attention. He nodded with a small wistful smile. He did remember the times they hung out at that place. It was like their little hideout. His whiskers twitched when he remembered their first conversations there.

Cloudface jumped a bit when the she-cat jumped off. He rushed to the edge of the tower to see her soaring up. he felt a pang of relief and, one thing he felt guilty for feeling, jealousy. If he jumped off, he wouldn't have been able to hover like that. Which was probably why he felt so worried, which he felt mousebrain for feeling. She had wings for StarClan's sake. "Yeah, I'll be right down." He promised before leaping away. He was good at running. Stairs were tricky, but he made good time. He made it out of the castle without anyone spotting him and soon came to the she-cat.

"Alright. Let's go. Carry some of these leaves.." She handed some of the ivy leaves to her, hoping that if she couldn't find them, she'd be able to carry some with her. She spread her wings, the white feathers flowing a little with the wind, lifting into the air slowly, and once high enough, she glanced down and motioned for Dawnstar to follow. They'd be heading down to the river, keeping near the edge, where the herbs would commonly grow.
Hailfrost let a smile grace her lips as the tom ate, and once he finished, she spread her wings slightly. "Well, let's get going, then." She meowed, hopping up and letting her wings lift her up to the air, where she sniffed around until she caught the familiar scent of the twoleg place. She could see it in the faint distance, and she glanced down at Nightchaser, tail tip twitching. "This is going to be so much fun!" She purred in excitement, smiling happily.

Dawnstar took the leaves in her jaws. She wrinkled her nose at the bitter taste, but made no comment. Instead, she spread her wings, ready to take off after Snowfall. She almost went right after Snowfall's paws left the ground, but held herself back. You're too rash, She scolded herself, knowing a crash could have come out of that. She gave a couple of strong flaps to take off. Slowly, she gained altitude and was level with her sister. "Lead the way." She said with a grin.
Nightchaser nodded. He smiled looking up at her in the sky. Her eyes bright and a large smile on her face made him surprisingly warm and happy. She is really pretty, he involuntarily thought as he watched her. That thought caused him to snap back into reality. He looked away from the other warrior. Great StarClan, that was not the thing to be thinking right now. He quickly took off after her with his bat wings easily gaining height. He grinned at the feeling of wind under his wings before starting to fly towards the nest.

Snowfall only nodded, turning herself towards the river before she began to lean forward, beginning to fly in its direction. Her wings were powerful and silent, occasionally halting their movement and letting the wind keep her in the air. She glided, beginning to decrease her altitude the closer they got, but was careful not to smash into any treetops as she did so. They were hovering above the river, but didn't land, tring to find out where the herbs were before se did so.
Hailfrost began to fly after him, her wings flapping in slow beats. They seemed to be flying against the wind, and it proved harder for her to keep going forward, but she exerted as much force as possible to keep flying after the tom. She could see it closer now, the broken wooden walls being evidence of how old it was, but she didn't care. Within seconds, she found herself hovering above the twoleg place before she dove down, only spread them again once she was a few tail-lengths from hitting the ground. She then folded them as she moved to stand on the ground, grinning as she looked up towards Nightchaser.

Dawnstar grinned like a mousebrain the whole flight. She would give a couple strong wing beats then scoop down. It a bit hard with her large wings, but she felt the wind whipping past her for a couple seconds and that was enough. With falcon wings, she could have swooped down faster. With this thought in her mind, she quickly caught up with her sister. "Do you ever wish you had different wings?" She asked as they hovered.
Nightchaser watched her decent with fascination. He had seen many cats do the same thing, though they are usually apprentices and it doesn't end well. It defiantly required skill. Nightchaser, while he could probably do the landing, disliked to do all the swooping. He feared breaking a wing or a leg. He slowly circled down before gently landed on the grass. It felt weird being on land again. It was so much more solid. He looked up at the broken nest and couldn't help but to feel sentimental. It might be broken, but it was where he had spent some of the best times of his apprenticeship. He padded in. "Still as dirty as it was before." He commented, amused.

Her eyes fixed on some marigold, distinguishable by its yellow flowers. "You can't miss these, the marigold. They're an alternative to horsetail, though I believe less common. Both fight infection." She pointed out, more to hust be informative. "If you could get cobwebs by the trees, that'd be cool!" She gave a grin to her sister before turning to step into the water and pick the flowers in bundles of four or five, then returning to settle them back on her ivy leaves.
"Come on!" Hailfrost then purred and trotted inside the nest, her eyes scanning her surroundings as she observed. It was run down and beaten up, abandoned clearly, and she flew up towards an attic. She sneezed quietly, the dust hitting her nose, and she squeaked when she notixed their old makeshift nest.

I'm sorry, but the forest is half a days flight away. The river cuts through a field. Sorry if I didn't make that clear in the territory. )
Dawnstar nodded along while looking at the flowers. She would hoped there would be more of them. They seemed pretty useful if they fought infections. One infection can fell even the biggest warrior. The leader swooped down to the other bank and started to rip up the flowers by their stems. She carefully placed them on the ivy leaves. "How much is enough?" She asked, looking over at her sister.
Nightchaser wandered around the house. There was a light dust covering everything, which was fairly normal, and it was still bare. Obviously, no twoleg had been here in a while. Again, it was normal. It was a little amazing how this place could defy time. He looked back and saw Hailfrost was gone. He looked up to see the hole to the attic. She must have gone up there. He figured before flying up. He cracked a smile seeing the old 'nest'. It was terrible looking now, but he remembered how comfortable it had been. "It looks sad now." He stated almost sadly. He approached it carefully.

Ravenfur had forgotten bee wings weren't that good for flying, and felt bad for being a show-off. She shook out her fur as if to clear her mind and swooped down to the ground. She landed perfectly, and folded her wings by her side, waiting for Cloudface to descend the stairs. "To the river?" she asked when he emerged, turning around and sprinting away without waiting for an answer.

Cloudface laughed and dashed after her. He caught up pretty easily. he looked over at her. "You know cheating is frowned upon, right?" He joked. He turned his head towards the river. Tucking his wings in, he spurred himself forward in hopes to reach the river before her. "You can fly if that will make things better for you." he teased.

(woops! probably my bad ;; i wasnt home at the time but now i am!)
"As much as you can gather is enough." She called, picking up her bundles and setting them by a small boulder at the riverbank, keeping it from being blown away. She took another ivy leaf and trotted down the river, eyeing some three or four stalks of horsetail, to which she eagerly plucked out. Though it served the same purpose as marigold, they both had multiple uses. Plus, mixing them together proved to be strong at combating infections. She was happy the herbs in the territory were plentiful, especially with leafbare coming on to them soon. Snowfall wouldn't want kits falling ill and passing away due to the lack of medicine.
"Well, it's been moons. Anyone couldn't come and ruin it." She smiled sadly before approaching it, nudging some of the strands of moss into the nest, where they were meant to be. There were some feathers on the ground near the nest, maybe some birds had come in and called it their home? Perhaps another cat? Hailfrost wasn't sure, but it didn't matter now; the nest was theirs again. "Remember when we ran off here for a day? Or, well, almost a day. I got scolded really badly." She giggled, a purr then rumbling in her throat. "Frogleap made me pick ticks off all the cats in the camp and made me tend to those boring medicine cat duties. He was so mad!" She let out another laugh. Although it wasn't that many moons ago, it did seem far away, and she felt that it was now something she could look back at and laugh about. Her ears twitched before her eyes settled on Nightchaser, smiling ever so slightly at her close friend.

Ravenfur wasn't surprised when Cloudface appeared next to her, knowing she wasn't a fast runner. "I didn't know this was a race," she said, smiling. She unfolded her wings, and let the wind take her. at first, she was a few tail lengths behind Cloudface, but within a couple seconds she was soaring above him. "Regretting letting me fly yet?" She smirked and easily overcame him, now a few paces ahead.

Dawnstar nodded. She continued to pick the herbs. With each bundle, she would place a small stone over it so none of the steams would blow away. The she-cat grew bored off collecting the bitter herbs. She approached the river. Her narrowed eyes darted over the water as she searched for any trout or salmon. She flicked a leaf onto the river. A fish bobbed up where the leaf was. In a flash, Dawnstar leaped. She tucked her wings in and unsheathed her claws in her leap. The tan leader caught the fish under her claws. It was thrashing, but her claws remained hooked in the fish. She growled before she ducked her head underwater to pick up the fish. Her jaws crushed the fish's skull. It instantly stopped struggling. Dawnstar held the fish and padded to shore. "Did you eat yet?" She asked her sister.
Nightchaser nodded solemnly. From the stench, he had to guess a couple birds had made this their home. He swept the unknown feathers away with his tail. He looked up at the roof. At least it was intact. As Hailfrost spoke, he began to neat the nest. It would need some new moss and maybe some softer feathers. He stopped when she spoke about the day they 'ran away'. It had been a stressful week before and they had just escaped for one day. One day of pure bliss. They had talked and hunted together for almost the whole day. Of course their mentors found them and dragged them back to camp eventually. His mentor let him off lightly when compared to Hailfrost's mentor. Maybe Goldpelt knew how stressed he had been and knew that he had needed a day off. his mentor seemed to always know what the tom was thinking. The tom purred, remembering the old tom. "Yeah. That was a good day...until that whole mentor finding us thing." He said fondly. A small smile formed and he looked at Hailfrost. "Remember how we tossed a mossball back and forth for...oh StarClan who knows how long. We would play that game like kits. And all the stories we shared." He suddenly grew shy, remembering their day of fun, and looked away.

"Never!" Cloudface yowled, before speeding up. "It just adds more fun." He bounded across the field. It had been a while since he raced anyone. Though it was obvious he was going to loose. Wings were just no match for him. His wings fluttered a bit as he watched hers flap in the wind. He longed to follow suit, but that wouldn't be possible. He looked away and forced himself to go faster.

She had gotten distracted with all her herb picking, gathering them and placing them in neat piles by a rock that would break the wind and keep the fragile plants from flying away from them. As Dawnstar spoke, she stiffened, then shaking her head and looking up at her sister. "No." She meowed quietly, then laughing at herself in embarrassment, realizing that she had yet to eat something. "I totally forgot to..." She meowed, tilting her head, her ears folded back in attempt to hide her embarrassment. How could she have forgotten? It was the most important meal of the day and she'd forgotten about it. Her face felt warm but she only giggled and laughed at her silliness.
"Whatever kept us from those dumb duties." She mewed, a purr accenting her voice, then moving to nuzzle him gently, more of a friendly gesture but she knew that there was something more. She was too shy to bring it up, and she wasn't sure if he'd felt the same, but she didn't want to hurt their close friendship with dumb feelings. She thought that could wait a while longer, despite the fact that she did feel the warm feeling near him. The she-cat then trotted over to the nest, nudging the stuff around before sitting and laying in it. It still felt warm as always, the few crevices in the ceiling letting the few rays of light inside, just enough to be able to see in the near darkness. Her fluffy tail curled around herself, wings pressed to her flank, finding comfort in both the moment and the memories they shared here.

Ravenfur pondered letting Cloudface beat her because she had a huge advantage, but her competitive side overpowered that thought. She swooped down, closer to the ground so she was level with Cloudface. She turned and smiled at him, and with one more flap she was at the riverbank. She landed a little roughly, her paws skidding across the uneven ground, causing her to lose her balance and almost fall in the water.

Dawnstar's whiskers twitched and she shook with laughter. The she-cat had to stop herself from actually laughing and dropping the fish. She slowly walked through the river to her sister. The moment she dropped the fish, she let out a small giggle. "I'm sorry," She said when her laughing died, "your laughing was too much." She grinned, finally relaxing under the bright sun and relaxed atmosphere. "Anyway, it looks like the leader with have to remind her medicine cat to eat now. What will the clan think?" She said, obviously being dramatic.
Nightchaser nodded. His eyes got comically wide when the she-cat nuzzled him. It was a small gesture, but it oddly felt like something else. He stood frozen for a couple seconds trying to figure this out before recovering. He looked over to the nest to find Hailfrost already curled up inside. A small smile formed on his muzzle. For the moment, he was very glad for the extra space in the nest. He liked being near her, but for some reason, touching seemed too personal now. He sat down in the nest with his tail tucked up next to him.
Cloudface frowned. His wings flapped for a couple seconds, making a light buzzing noise. He knew his legs wouldn't match her wings, but he had hoped it would be even. Well, there was nothing to fix it right now. "I'll get you next time." He warned before padding to the bank of the river. He dipped his paw into the water experimentally. He quickly withdraw his paw. Should have gone more into the south, he thought, licking the cold water off his paws.

"Well, I'll gladly accept your fish." She grinned, reaching to pick it off and trot a few ways away, knowing her sister probably wouldn't appreciate her taking her catch. She took a bite, then looked up at her with a grin on her face, some of the meat visible through her teeth. "What about the leader? Some herbs, perhaps?" She laughed, finding the thought of feeding the leader the most bitter ervs she could find. "Or if she's been good, maybe some fish. But it seems her dear sister is eating it." She had playfullness laced into her tone and she chuckled before nudging it towards her.
Hailfrost didn't speak. She kept quiet. As he moved next o her, she smiled and looked up at him, then turning her head away and pulling her limbs closer to herself, almost as if in attempt to warm herself up from the cool atmosphere outside. Her ears perked every now and then as she heard birds, but she was fcused more on the tom next to her than the outdoors. She decided to speak after a few moments of silence, returning he frosty gaze to him. "Have you been here ever since we were made into warriors?" She asked curiously. "i came once, a moon or so after becoming warriors. Just to be alone."

Dawnstar almost worried for a second that she had gone too far. Though, with the offer of fish, she knew her sister was joking. She approached her sister and sat in front of the offered fish. She honestly preferred mice or even a squirrel, but fish wasn't bad. "That leader better be careful of what she says." She said with a smile. The tan she-cat took a bite and pushed the fish back toward Snowfall. Her wings unfurled to lay on the grass and soak up the sun's warm rays.
Nightchaser considered lying, but decided against it. "No," He said simply, looking at the small cracks of light in the roof. He had always considered but then rejected the idea. It almost seemed like a sacred place. Something always lead him away when he approached it. "Not that I didn't want to." He said quietly, "Just didn't like this place with only me." Yes, he decided, that was the reason. It seemed so big and empty with only him.

The she-cat snorted and chuckled before taking a bite of the fish, then shaking her head and refusing to eat more. She was full. "Is there anything else we should get while we're out here?" She questioned, turning to wrap her gathered herbs safely, her gaze occasionally shifting onto her leader and sister. "I'm more than willing to go on a patrol with you, although difficult."
"Yeah. I didn't like pacing inside alone, you know? We kind of found this place without being supposed to. It feels like a second home. Plus, without you, this place... this place felt huge. There was nothing to do without your companionship." She meowed quietly, her head turned up towards the tom before she shifted, tail curled around her small frame. "I'm glad we're here now though. It's been way too long."
