I've started watching Steven Universe recently. I'm halfway through the third season, just finished the boat episode. I'm a little leery of roleplaying it, seeing as there's quite a lot of it I haven't watched, but most of the time, when there's a show I've watched, I tend to roleplay it. So if one or more people were willing to put up with me knowing absolutely nothing, I did doodle a gem character who might be fun to play?
Lemme pat myself on the back there for a good introduction paragraph. :D

Hm, I may or may not be up for this. I had done an rp on the old forums that unfortunately died out, but that one was supposed to take place around the same time as Rose's Rebellion, except it was some gems establishing a colony on a different planet somewhere else. The idea was that that colony would hear of the rebellion and ultimately decide to follow the same path, for whatever reason (we had multiple ideas for the spark). The point of doing it at that time and on a different planet is because a) that's the time period of gem society and technology you become most familiar with from watching the show and it means you can do pretty much whatever you want without in affecting or contradicting the canon in the roleplay, so long as you stick to what little is known at the time the roleplay is created (ie, gem types and such). Idk if you'd be interested in something like that, but I find that roleplays that don't intersect with the canon of an ongoing series tend to be the most... creative and open-ended. Just a suggestion; if you don't like it, understandable XD

That might be.
Maybe just some sorta doctor who-(on a buncha planets and everything) adventure? I would suggest a slice-of-life thing with them struggling with life on Earth or something, but I think that SU roleplays oughta be a little more interesting than just that.

Hi Di. That might be interesting, actually! I really like the idea. Don't know if strictly sticking to canon would be necesary, since roleplays are far from canon, but I'd be willing to do something like that.

Sticking to canon in this case would pretty much be just keeping to the known gem types (so pearls are servants, quartzes are warriors, etc.) and making use of what little we know about gem culture (so fusion between different gems is bad and we all live to serve the diamonds. That's really about it). It would still be pretty free-range. And of course, what canon we do have makes for good plots- some of the ideas we had before for starting our own rebellion were the pretty standard gems-unhappy-with-given-role, dislike-Diamonds'-decisions, want-to-fuse-for-love type things born of course from the canon info. It's my preference to stick with what's known, since that's what builds the world we love and want to roleplay in the first place, but if you prefer to deviate then that's up to you, it's your roleplay. I'm just here makin suggestions lol.

Okay, I think I get what you're saying, and I like it. Though I honestly think that exploring different gems(ones we don't know anything about, like emerald or obsidian or coal) would be a lot of fun in a SU roleplay. Keeping with the servant pearls and warrior quartzes and the culture we know makes sense, of course, but there's a lot of rocks out there, and probably gems relating to them.

Oh yes, of course. I can see now we were misunderstanding each other slightly. Yes, of course we would explore non-canon gems, I just meant that the ones that ARE canon should keep with canon. Like, if you make a pearl they'd be (at least at first) a servant, but you could also make a non-canon gem (for example, I've used Blue Agate, Fire Agate, and Watermelon Tourmaline), which could be anything you want. By keeping with canon, I just meant leave what's known unchanged, but of course explore anything that's unknown and make it up yourself.

Okay, yes, just a misunderstanding. I'm 100% okay with that now, and I really like that plot. Should we wait for Pan to respond/some other folks to come by?

Huh.

Hm? And sure. Do you wanna plan anything out first though, like what Diamond the colony belongs to, generally what the planet is like, etc.? Like, just sort of a general idea/plan for the roleplay to give some direction at the start

Yeah, that'd probably be smart.
I'm not far enough to know about the diamonds. Only know about yellow diamond, really. So you'll probably have to determine that.
As for the planet, it'd probably be easier to do something generally earth-like(as in, no hugely crazy things), with a relatively human-like dominant species. It's what we know and would be easier to come up with so we can start roleplaying earlier.
Or we could go with no dominant species. After all, their motivation for rebelling could be purely intrinsic, not inspired to protect a certain species, but by their own selfishness.

Heya. :3 Would you like to take part of the idea Di mentioned up there or do something different? I dunno when Di's gonna be back, so it might be better to do something different? And group roleplays are hard to get everyone in at the same time.

Ooh, I'd like that. During the time of rose's rebellion or modern? Prolly modern. Since otherwise it'd certainly fail or infringe on canon.

Yeah, that makes sense.
I'll use Sandstone, since that's my only mildly developed gem, pfft.
