What exactly is lucid dreaming? When I dream, it's odious that I'm dreaming sometimes, but I half know it's a dream and half believe it's real. I can't control them in any way but it's like I know but I don't know. That makes no sense but I guess I don't lucid dream? I mean, does it count if you get a feeling that your dreaming, but you can't control it and you want it to be real? What I'm trying to say that sometimes I'm skeptical on if I'm really awake, and when I wake up, I realize I was right.

a lucid dream is when you can change anything in the dream and know you are dreaming. it's a skill some people have and some people don't.

a lucid dream is when you can change anything in the dream and know you are dreaming. it's a skill some people have and some people don't.
•℘•I most likely will never lucid dream, if I ever had, then I'm probably too ignorant to realize or just don't remember.

I wish. ;_; I almost went lucid a couple of times. In my most vivid dream, I was sort of flying/swimming through static. I knew I was asleep, but I was stuck there and I couldn't do anything but move my arms and legs.

Lucid dreaming means that you're aware you're dreaming (the word "lucid" itself means clear perception/understanding/rational). You don't have to be able to control a dream in order for it to be a lucid dream; it's just something that can happen during them.

I've had many occasions where a dream becomes somewhat too obscure and I realize it's a dream. About 2 secs after that I wake up (often swearing like an Albanian car mechanic, for not being able to witness more of the dream). It may have been some reaction to a nightmare I may have had long ago, as I honestly don't remember having a single nightmare for the past 5-6 years (and I started watching horror movies when I was 7). Aside of that my dreams can be pretty weird. to living a 3 day long dream about booking places in a restaurant and concert for 10 people, just to realize that never happened a full day after I was awake and after checking my phone numbers it turned out I didn't even knew half of these people. Then they were also some things I would rather not disclose

I haven't lucid dreamed in quite some time, but I used to do it at roughly the rate of one every few weeks to once a month. Sometimes when I'm lucid dreaming I can't control anything, I'm just aware of the fact that I'm dreaming, but most of the time I'm able to "rewind" the dream to an earlier point and try something different if I don't like how something turned out. On rare occasions I'm also able to give myself superpowers - once or twice it was flight; other times it was stuff like being able to run through objects. And even though I've always wanted to do it, only once have I ever managed to change the entire setting. (And even on that instance it took a couple tries before it worked.)
My tips for lucid dreaming:
1. Get plenty of sleep. I remember my dreams and lucid dream more when I'm well-rested and low-stress.
2. Keep a dream journal; this is the big one. Just write down what you dreamed that night - the instant you wake up, too, because otherwise it will fade. When I'm actively keeping a dream journal, even when I'm not aware I'm dreaming, I tend to pay attention to the dream more, remember it better and remember more details.
3. Get used to doing "reality checks" - look around and check that the shadows are on the correct side of objects, stuff like that; you'll do it more often in your dream. When mine turn lucid, it's often because I notice something odd: a typo, or stuff like "wait I already finished that class".

I'm not sure this counts as lucid dreaming, but once I dreamed I was at a swimming lesson in the pool I actually go to learn swimming, and suddenly I realized I was dreaming and the words WAKE UP kept on flashing in my dream, and I did a bunch of random swimming stuff while trying to wake up. I couldn't wake myself up until my dad woke me up though.

every now and then... when I'm about to wake up and can control it. I don't want to though, they give you good ideas for new characters or story's...even nightmares, can do that...when you get over the fact they scare the living daylights out of ya. I don't get them offend, but when I do, its pretty vivid(very clear/easy to remember every detail) and terrible...

Idk how accurate this is, but I heard that looking at clocks (more specifically digital ones) are a good way to reality check. Apparently in dreams the numbers don't make sense or it's all blurred or something like that.

Nightmares are actually why I started lucid dreaming to begin with: when I was a kid I was having a lot of nightmares, and my mom told me to try to wake up when I was having one. So one time I was having a nightmare - I guess I didn't quite know I was dreaming but I still threatened to wake up if the bad guys didn't stop whatever they were doing - and I managed to prop myself up a bit and shake my head until I woke up. Ever since then, I've had nightmares much less frequently, and most of them turn lucid and I can either wake up, rewind it, or give myself superpowers to fix it. (About the only non-fixable ones are nightmares about, say, bad things happening to my family, but at least as soon as I wake up I know the difference between nightmare and reality and am able to calm down. And thankfully those are extremely rare.)

I don't remember seeing clocks in any of my dreams, but some specific examples I remember from dreams that turned lucid are 1) that I was reading a Warriors book and I think it was Tallstar's name that looked blurred/misspelled, and 2) I was at the movies, but the prices didn't make sense; they were like the amount you'd pay for a Broadway show ticket, not just your average movie.

•♕• i used to be way more serious about lucid dreaming/dream journaing but then i just. stopped i guess. idk i dont really think about it too much anymore.... ive always been able to lucid dream pretty easily. and wake myself up from dreams •♔•

A few times I've been able to understand I was dreaming. Once I realized it and I'd forgotten something in the dream, so I tried to force myself forward in the dream with the item. It kind of worked but then I woke up. The problem is my dreans are always blurry and they're never in focus. Maybe it's because of my eyesight.
