Slate heard the door open, a soft sigh escaping his lips at someone bothering his alone time. Much like his solitude, it was soon lost in the wind, its significance-if it had any-quickly lost. "Evening." His tone was mildly annoyed, but he wasn't the rude type. A solitary nature didn't mean he had to be a jerk to the few people who interacted with him. "Nothing noteworthy. Practiced. Worked." Short and sweet answers, but answers they were at the least. He shifted his attention to Silver, not removing his sunglasses despite the rapidly darkening sky. "You?"

"Nothing much. I went back to my old weapon school. It is the only place besides here that I can call home. Otherwise it was pretty much the same." Slate crossed his legs and closed his eyes, emptying his mind of thought. He began to quietly think about his journey at the academy and the adventures he had.

"Sounds like an experience." While Slate wasn't trying to merely brush Silver off, he was far from a conversationalist. In fact, just these few words were much more than most got out of him, but most didn't catch him on top of a quiet rooftop. "Anything you care to share?" The question would at least let him just have to listen, which was ideal.

"I imagine you came up here to be in silence. I came here to meditate. There are formalities when greeting people. I have finished the formalities I meditate." Silver replied plainly, not opening his eyes.

Well, that was just perfect then. Slate wasn't offended easily, especially given the fact that he was getting exactly what he wanted. Silence. His own eyes closing behind dark glasses, he turned his head back to the night, letting the breeze wash over him in its own comforting way. There were so many possibilities now that he was back, even though it was his final year. Time would tell what they meant for him.

Silver began to think about some of the good times he had had throughout his time at beacon. He actually enjoyed all the people and the danger and even the cruddy food. "Slate. This is our last year. It didn't hit me till just now, but we won't be coming back next year."

Slate had chosen to be nowhere near the naming ceremony for the new teams, such an event wasn't in his style. Too many people, too much noise, far too much pomp and circumstance for the fourth year. Instead, he'd snuck up to the roof of his dorm, legs hanging off the edge as he stared at the rapidly fading sun. There was silence here save for the light breezes of wind, blowing against his face and the few stray strands of hair escaping his beret. As much as he may have given off the anti-social aura, it was good to be back at school. A lot more interesting than his empty apartment, that was for sure. He wondered where his team was at the moment, he'd barely seen them since they'd all arrived today. The grin had never left Aurora's face since he'd found Maple out in the forest, it was almost omni-present at this point. A blur of brilliant blue waved behind him, his tail wagging unabashedly from his untamed excitement. "Awesome! Congratulations Maple!" He didn't care one bit about not being team leader, he was just beyond thrilled to finally be here, in the same spot his brother had five years ago. Soon enough he was going to be a hunter, a real one! He couldn't wait! Excitement, no, giddiness was drifting off him in waves, his cheery personality positively infectious as several other students started to smile as well. "I can't wait." (Starters yay! Just a little bit late Little warning/disclaimer, there's going to be a couple large wind storms in my area over the next couple days so power might go out and I may poof without warning. I hope not, but it might happen so :/)
--Maple-- Maple was just sort-of dumbstruck for a second. Did the headmaster did name him leader, of all the people in his team? That was... crazy? Exciting? Cool? Terrifying? He wasn't sure how to feel. Vaguely he was aware of Aurora congratulating him, so he made an awkward half-smile, lost in his own world of swirling emotions. On one hand, he was going to be a hunter! That was awesome. But on the other, being leader was a huge responsibility that he wasn't sure he was ready for. Absently he looked over at his team, seeing Aurora grinning and Eva barely able to contain herself. That was when he relaxed. Whatever happened, he had a team now. Snapping back to reality, he heard Aurora's excited remark and replied more earnestly this time. "Me neither. This is gonna be fun." He smiled, a real one this time. It was going to be fun.
--Eva-- Eva was unsure of what to do with herself. She was incredibly excited to become a real huntress, and she wanted to jump for joy or hug somebody. Unfortunately, she was pretty sure that Rika wouldn't appreciate that. From meeting her partner in the woods she'd gathered that she was something of a killjoy. So instead Eva just kind-of shuffled awkwardly in place and smiled happily, literally shaking with excitement. Today was the first day of the rest of her life, which was technically every day, but today it really meant something because she was beginning her training! Eek! She clasped her hands behind her back and tried to will herself to stop shaking. It didn't really work. She looked over at the two boys, sizing them up. They seemed nice enough, and neither of them seemed incompetent. It was going to be a good year, she could feel it!
--Bradley-- Bradley watched silently from his spot against the wall. He could see Quarender here too, but none of the rest of his team. Guess they all thought they were better than the new kids or something. Well, they actually were better, but it couldn't hurt to know who your allies are. Leaning against the back wall, arms folded, he could see the headmaster's speech and the new teams, being taller than most of the people in the room. There were a few spots that he couldn't see- that peacock-tailed kid? Talk about inconsiderate to the people behind him- but for the most part he had a clear view of the first-years. They seemed like interesting people. Hopefully they'd be good in a fight. Seeing those kids get assigned teams... hard to believe it was him up there only two years ago. It seemed like so long ago, and yet it also felt like it had happened yesterday. Third-year. He was halfway through his training and just now beginning that second half. Wow.

(Aw, I'm sorry Singularity, that sucks. Hopefully it doesn't happen, but thanks for the heads up!)
*Aurora*
Aurora nodded his head hastily, every ounce of him in complete agreement with Maple. He was just about ready to burst with excitement, and this was only the naming ceremony, real classes hadn't even started yet! He ground into the floor with his heels, trying to burn off at least some of that excess energy so he didn't start bouncing all over the place. That wasn't quite the first impression he wanted to give off to everyone else, cheery as he may be. A quick glance to his right let him see Eva, one of the two girls he and his partner had taken down a few Grimm with in the forest, looking every bit as pumped as he was. That sort of enthusiasm was something he appreciated. A smile and wave were quickly offered her way, wanting to become best friends with all three members of his team as soon as possible. Already his thoughts were drifting towards training, sparring, missions, basically anything positive that Beacon had to offer and he was wondering what kind of stories he'd have to tell his family in just a few days time. "It really is gonna be fun, Maple, you're right. Heck, I'm even just happy we get to sleep in beds tonight instead of on the floor!"
*Slate*"Indeed." Slate slowly nodded his head, what could best be described as a sense of trepidation creeping its way through him. In just a few months he'd be out in the real world, no direction like Beacon to guide him. "Almost unsettling, isn't it?" Silver had struck a chord with that topic, so Slate's usually frustrated tone at having to speak was softened a touch, though he still wasn't being anywhere close to verbose. The bare minimum amount of words necessary to hold up his end of the conversation.

Citrine sat in her team’s room, sharpening her axe on the side of her bed. She wasn’t really interested in Theos’s speech, or any of the newcomers, or… well, anything. Rolling her eyes, she continued moving the sharpening stone along the already keen edge. It had almost become a force of habit to continuously sharpen the blade, as if making sure she was always ready to fight. Citrine looked at the empty beds around her, before letting out a quick breath of hot air. Slowly, she rose to her feet. “Come on, Akkainpiilu,” she said, sliding the now-shining weapon into its familiar sheath on her back. “Let’s go see what everyone else is up to.”
~~~
Ecru leaned over the balcony, watching the newcomers intently. He could only barely remember his first time coming here, and it was more nervous tension than anything. As each name was called, he scanned the crowd for the students mentioned, putting together a mental image of what each team would be like. It definitely wouldn't be a boring year. For them, at least. Although Ecru had always looked forward to his last year of school, he couldn't help feel somewhat wistful about it. One more year, and he'd have to make his own way in the world. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't keep that welcoming smile on his face fro more than a few seconds.
NIV She looked up, a tiny smile quirking her lips, "Sure thing. Don't go too mad, though. I know you're like, a combat master, but try to leave some punching bag for the rest of us." She teased, sauntering away. She picked up the girl's discarded hat and plonked it onto her own head, smoothing out her glossy hair. It smelt like Wysteria, which was not a bad thing, "I take it you became a lean, mean, killing machine over summer then?"
QUARENDER He glanced behind him at Bradley, the big guy was brooding against a wall towards the back. To the new comers, he must've appeared an intimating figure, but the team captain knew him better by this stage. He limped over, the tap of his cane on the floor barely audible over the hubbub of voices, "Did you spend all summer staring into the middle distance or are you making up for lost time now?" He asked, following the other man's gaze into the crowd. His eyes skipped over heads and backs, mostly excited ones, but a few subdued expressions could be seen. He could remeber this day himself, two years ago, but he did not remember squealing.
Rika had her arms crossed as she stood near her team. They all seemed a little too excited. Yeah, they were in Beacon, but that didn't mean they had to explode from the excitement. She was happy, if this could be considered happy. She wasn't even smiling. She was just glad she wouldn't have to go home in failure. She couldn't think of a worse way to arrive home. Failed getting into another kingdom's academy, forced to crawl home in defeat, beg her father to allow her to return home. Not something she would be able to do. She'd rather become a nomad. She glanced at Aurora. The one Faunus on their team. She'd gotten so close to being on a team without Faunus. Now she was stuck with one. At least she was prepared to be the one person on the team that was hated by the others. She didn't care. She was just here to graduate. Once she was a full huntress, she would never need anything from her father ever again. That was what she was aiming for. She didn't need a team, nor friends. So she didn't care if they liked her or not.
Wysteria gave a small smile back and she went over to the punching bag. "I don't know if I'll do anything that extreme," she commented. "I feel like the punching bag will hurt me more than I will it." The Faunus circled the practice equipment and a snow leopard ear twitched before she got into an attack stance. She stood like that frozen before suddenly striking the punching bag and recoiling holding her hand. "Ow," she murmured inspecting her wrist. "I think I'll leave the punching to you," she told Niv as she turned to the girl. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of Niv in her hat before her expression returned to normal, walking over to her partner. "I'm not sure about "killing machine" but I am naturally built like this. Maybe it's because of genetics." Wysteria walked over to where her scarf was and picked it up, wrapping it around her neck. "What did you do over summer? I felt bad I couldn't come visit you of summer, I really wanted to."
"It is very unsettling. I mean it feels like just yesterday it was out first day. Now our time at beacon is finally coming to an end. I thougt my fourth year would never come, and now that it has I feel as though I need more time." He said with a chuckle. He really did love the school. It was one of the few things he loved. Silver let out a sigh and smiled. He thought back to the time his team had 'accidentally' caught the cafeteria on fire. He looked over at Slate. "What will you miss about this place?"
|
|
|
Post by Happy on Oct 14, 2016 19:33:44 GMT -5
Slate did remember the cafeteria ablaze two years ago, thankfully they'd avoided being caught. Sure, they'd been the prime suspects, but nothing was able to be fully proven and they'd escaped punishment. Granted, the headmaster would've been lenient even if they'd fessed up to. "Miss? Hm." Silence settled over him for a few moments as he thought about it, trying to come up with an answer he was alright with. "Perhaps the teachers, maybe the structure." It would be odd to be deciding his own fate, though he'd been doing that just fine for a while now.
Silver chuckled. "For the longest time, I hated the structure. I hated being told what to do, but now I have grown find of it." He quietly thought back to his first mission and how disappointed he was about the fact the mission was only cleaning up the streets. He would miss the missions and the training.
"Understandable." Like it or not, Beacon was the central point of their lives those months out of the year they were attending classes. Even during breaks, the promise of return always lingered. Until now. Soon enough they'd be done and gone, off to live their own lives however they saw fit. Slate tucked a few stray strands of hair back into his beret, continuing to watch the horizon no matter how little of it he could actually see.
She shrugged, "Went out a lot. Atlas is nice in passing but I think I'd go crazy if I ever had to live there, my family could nag for the the country. It's better at night." She concluded, leaning against the wall, arms draped over a rail. "I got back together with some people I used to know, went to their parties, they came to mine, rinse and repeat. Can't say I did much training." She admitted, tilting her head back. The back of her head had been squished against the wall and it resulted in the hat pushing itself over her eyes and obscuring half her face from sight. She didn't want to complain, knowing that Wysteria had anything but a large family to return to every holiday, and so kept it brief, "How do you feel as a third year, Wys? Wise? Dedicated? A skilled and valued member of society?"
Silver chuckled and thought about how much he would miss his teammates and his fellow students, he looked over at slate. "Do you want to train?" he asked. He has trained with him multiple times before. Seeing as Slate was his team captain. He would miss sparring with people.
RUSKA Ruska knocked on the door, a series of quick, light knocks that gave her away, "Citrine, you in here?" She asked as she opened, without waiting for a verbal confirmation. She found her team captain, unsurprisingly, lovingly caressing her weapon. She gave an affection eye roll, "Did you spend all summer fawning over your baby or did you get in any human-on-human interaction?" She quirked her head to the side, light curls bouncing as she moved. It wouldn't have surprised her if the captain that literally spent two months with only her weapon for company. "Talk to a shop keeper? Bump into an old friend?" She offered, a big smile tugging at her lips.
TEAM SLLI Larimar stood, growing a little more irked by the shoving of bodies as the seconds ticked by, but refusing to let it show. They finished their cracker and turned to their team mates, my it was a strange team indeed. At least now they didn't have to worry about standing out among them. Not usually the one to break the ice, but eager to get the uncomfortable pleasantries out of the way, they extended one pale, soft hand in a short wave, "I'm looking forward to working with you all." They said with a tilt of their head and a brief blink, to no one in particular.
Wysteria watched Niv as the other girl spoke, covering her mouth to stifle her giggle when her hat covered Niv's face slightly. The way Niv spoke always seemed to draw her in, making her feel relaxed yet thrilled at the same time. Listening about the summer from Niv's point of view caused a smile to tug at the corner of her lips. Knowing that the other girl had fun was enough to make her happy. Wysteria herself had been searching for her father but she had yet to find any leads. At Niv's question, Wysteria went over to the other girl and pushed her hat out of Niv's face. Smiling, Wysteria shrugged and answered, "I feel stronger, though only because I have you and the others by my side. I don't know what I would do without you guys. I feel stronger because of you guys and a better person too." The Faunus felt she face grow hot and looked away before she would feel even more embarrassed.
