Okay, so my cousin's father's roommate has recently landed a job at HarperCollins alongside my cousin and I got the opportunity to see a rough draft of what the plot for the tenth super edition will be about. It's... interesting, that's for sure. Here's more or less a condensed version of it.
The story is indeed about Tigerheart and Dovewing, but it's at the end of AVoS. Here's a condensed version of the plotting: SkyClan has settled at the lake, with Hawkwing as their new leader and Bellapaw (whose warrior name is Bellaswan) is deputy.
Harespring is Harestar, with Breezepelt as deputy, and Squirrelflight has retired, with Ivypool being her replacement.
Several cats have apparantly died, mostly off-screen due to greencough, including Briarlight.
The ShadowClan cats who joined Darktail seemed to have realized the error of their ways, but are aware that it'll take a long time to live their actions down.
Twigpaw, now Twigheart, and Violetpaw, now Violetnose, have joined SkyClan to be with their father, Hawkstar.
The book is told from Dovewing's PoVs and it starts with her finally getting an apprentice, Thornclaw and Blossomfall's daughter Frostpaw. Dovewing is shown to be a good mentor, but does occasionally get distracted whenever she comes close to the ShadowClan border. It's noted that Bumblestripe now knows of her past with Tigerheart and though he was upset as to finally find out exactly why Dovewing broke up with him, he still encourages her to do what she thinks is right.
Meanwhile, there's a prophecy saying that five cats will help bring together the petals of the Blazing Star. The leaders decide that one from each Clan will go find them. The cats that are chosen are Dovewing for ThunderClan, one of Breezepelt's daughters (Brindlefur) for WindClan, Tigerheart for ShadowClan, Minnowtail for RiverClan, and Ebonyclaw for SkyClan.
The group decide to go to the mountains first, hoping the Tribe will be able to help. The Tribe unfortunately can't, but Stoneteller does suggest that they follow the Sun Trail, as their ancestors had done. The group takes the suggestion and along the way, Dovewing realizes that she still has feelings for Tigerheart and vice versa. Dovewing eventually decides to really talk things out with Tigerheart this time and this helps mend their friendship that was broken so long ago. The idea of being his mate crosses her mind a few times, but she's determined on finishing their mission first.
The group come across the old forest territories, though it isn't directly stated at first. They find the old Moonstone cavern, the one thing that hasn't been destroyed by Twolegs and decide to sleep beside it, hoping to get answers. There, the group is shown a brief history of how the Clans came to be up until Moth Flight gives up her kits and realize that the Blazing Star refers to the five Clans rather than a literal plant and also come to the conclusion that Moth Flight's blood still runs through the Clans.
They go back and inform the Clans of this, and the five leaders come to the conclusion that they are stronger together and decide to get rid of the borders that divide them, which leads to several forbidden relationships to be revealed, including Mousewhisker x Minnowtail just to name one. Just to be fair to the medicine cats, they are now allowed to have kits on the condition that they have a fully trained apprentice first or at least to make sure there's always someone there to help them with either their medicine cat or parental duties. This leads to Crowfeather and Leafpool getting back together.
Dovewing joins Tigerheart in ShadowClan after Frostpaw becomes Frostwing, after her mentor, a few moons later. The books ends with Dovewing telling her five kits (Ivykit, Ripplekit, Toadkit, Sedgekit, and Ebonykit) how the Clans began, officially bringing the series to an end.
Oh, and the villains are named Icewing, Mudwing, Seawing, Sandwing, Skywing, Rainwing, and Nightwing, who has precognition and mind reading powers. These cats are descended from the original BloodClan cats and are bent on getting revenge against the Clans. They don't seem to appear too much, though.
The book is called Dovewing's Path, and according to my cousin, it will be available on February 30th.
