•♕• Beetlewing nodded to Mistheart, quickly running a paw over her own ear. Mistheart was a loyal warrior, and Beetlewing had to admire her ability to remain calm and thoughtful in almost any situation, a trait that Beetlewing herself lacked. She often doubted her own authority, and tried hard to live up to the standard she felt Duskstar had set. Purring a bit, Beetlewing turned her attention to Mistheart, the end of her tail twitching. "Morning, Mistheart! How are you?" (sorry for short replies, movile sucks) •♔•

"Oh, I have to go, bye" Mistheart meowed, sadly trotting off to join the leaving patrol. "Where are we heading, Gingerheart? Or are we checking all of the borders?" Mist said as soon as she reached him. She started walking, just barely behind Gingerheart.

(I hope mice eat grass?) Dapplestorm blinked. It wasn't that he didn't think of the forest as beautiful, but there was something interesting about drinking it in through Pidgeonwing's eyes, something almost magical. To him, the forest was beautiful because it functioned - water to feed the grass, grass to feed the mice, and mice to feed his clan - but he sensed that to Pidgeonwing, it was a different kind of impressive. "I guess it is," he answered slowly, voice thoughtful and distant. He blinked. Now that he thought about it, he and Pidgeonwing were standing fairly close together. He wondered if that bothered the other tom, or if he was just naturally comfortable with physical affection. "You ready to start?" he asked, nodding to the clearing below them. "Hopefully, we'll have some luck." "I'll go that way and you can go that way," Pidgeonwing said nodding in the directions he was talking about. "Then we can meet back here. Sound good?" He was excited to get started and do something good for the Clan for once instead of just messing up all the time when he tried to help. This was his moment to shine and he was going to try his best to catch anything he could. He figured even a small mouse would be a better prize than nothing at all.

""Well, the fresh-kill pile is plentiful. I think we should check the borders, it hasn't been done today, besides the dawn patrol," Miststar meowed softly. Gingerheart was a good cat, she'd consider him one of her friends. She drew her tail and head higher. She wanted to look respectable and presentable. She wanted to look like she knew what she was doing - and she did - and a good warrior.

--- [[ Honeydawn || Early Morning || Hunting || Outside of camp ]]
Honeydawn felt satisfaction course through her as the stubborn squirrel she had been chasing finally went limp underneath her grasp. The adamant rodent had somehow manage to evade and slip out of her clutches not once, but twice! It frustrated her to no end, but she was finally content with ending the creatures life. Grumbling a muffled yet exasperated "thank StarClan," around the neck of the squirrel, the molly unsheathed her claws and dug a quick little hole to bury the prey in so she could go back and continue her solo hunting party. While hunting in patrols was always nice, guarded by numbers and more paws to carry prey, she did prefer going by herself from time to time -- the junior warriors and apprentices got on her nerves very quickly. Not to say that she wasn't a young warrior herself, she just felt that the others weren't as experiences as she was, thus she didn't have time to spare for them. Probably the reason as to why she hadn't received an apprentice of her own yet.
Deciding that her lone squirrel would suffice, Honeydawn leaped onto the closest tree, her claws digging into its trunk and sending debris flying downward as she made her way towards a branch that was a little ways from the ground. There are what, two hunting patrols already out. I'm sure no one will really care if I reward myself. She thought as she stretched out on the tree branch, her long fur swaying with the gentle breeze. Maybe I'll give the squirrel to Aldertooth or Mintshade, I don't see any of the apprentices fetching them prey.

Gingerheart glanced over at the pile and nodded. "Oh, yeah, it is plentiful. Might as well go check out the borders, then." He shook his head; he was a little frustrated with himself that he didn't see how the pile was decently sized.

Hollypaw skipped along with them. "Ooh, what if we find some rogues? Are we gonna drive them off?" she asked eagerly, one of many questions. Oh, how exciting being an apprentice could be! Who knew?
Mistheart calmly walked just barely behind Gingerheart. She kept her ears pricked and nose open (idek) for the sound or smell of a rogue or loner. Maybe even a kittypet, though she would only drive the kittypet off. She's heard stories of cats ruthlessly attacking the kittypets, even thiugh most of the clan is made up of old kittypets. Of course, most of them would be feral cats from birth. Mistheart wouldn't stoop to such a level.

"Sorry, Talonfrost..." She murmured. Hollypaw walked a bit slower, but still excited. She didnt skip anymore, however. Her tail hung a bit lower, compared to before. She listened for any trespassers, but kept Talonfrosts words in her minds.

Imma assume this is what you are talking about) Littlestorm noticed movement nearby as she padded through the forest and soon the sound of claws on bark caught her attention. She had gotten bored and decided to go hunting but she had yet to find anything. Perhaps this would be something good for the clan. As she padded over to the source of the sound and scented the air to only find the scent of her clanmate. She looked up and noticed Honeydawn in the tree, watching the she-cat on the branch for a moment. There was a moment of hesitation in the she-cat before she sat down and flicked her ear as she greeted, "Hello, how is the view up there?" Her white fluffy pelt made her very noticeable and she didn't care really. She did try to smooth back some tufts that stuck up by licking them however it just made it worse for the small she-cat.

Sadie opened her mouth to reply, but before she could answer even of those the questions, this Jaypaw - and what a unique name that was - was already setting off deeper into the forest. Closing her mouth, she trailed along after her, stumbling on roots and uneven ground. With each movement, a jolt of pain flashed up from her aching paws on protest. She was suddenly, acutely aware of her own thirst - when had she last found a bowl of water? Before her owners left? That had been over a day ago.
"Slow down," she huffed, setting aside her embarrassment in favor of soothing her sore muscles. "I'm not built for all this hiking."
As she stopped to catch her breath, she managed to pant, "I'm Sadie, by the way. Pleasure to... meet you..."

(I love forgetting everything about how the cat books work.)
Dapplestorm's gaze lingered on Pidgeonwing's retreating form for a moment longer, before he shook his head to himself and set off in the opposite direction.
Something about hunting had always calmed his nerves. Around other cats, he had expectations to live up to. Even though he tried not to pay it much mind, he knew that social situations often made him stumble, and the stress of trying to appease so many cats left him increasingly reserved and self-isolating. It was easier not to bother. Here, though - here, the trees wanted nothing from him. The grass had no roles for him to fill. The clean, crisp air didn't fault him for his cold demeanor or his emotional clumsiness. When Dapplestorm began to hunt, everything else in his life fell away - the stress of his new warrior duties, his concern for his sister, his awkwardness around his clanmates - until he and nature became the only two things in the world still breathing.
A breeze stirred his fur, and he breathed it in, every hair on his pelt focused on catching any animal scent lurking about. Within an instant, he recognized the distinct flavor of robin in the distance. Dropping down, he began to creep forward, placing each paw with utmost precision. All his thoughts fell away. He caught sight of the bird, beak pressed to the earth as it searched for birds, and he prepared to pounce, ready to trap the bird in his paws and -
Nothing. At the last minute, the robin jerked its head up and met his eyes. In a flutter of wings and feathers, it launched itself into the air, crying out in warning as it went. His paws landed hard in the dirt where it's warm body had been only moments before. Helplessly, he tilted his head back and watched his prize catch vanish into the sky.
"Foxdung!" he cursed. Immediately, he ducked his head, ashamed of his outburst. If the bird's warning call hadn't scared the rest of the nearby prey away, his temper certainly had. He shot Pidgeonwing a guilty glance but didn't say anything, reluctant to make the situation even worse.

Jaypaw slowed down and looked back at the she-cat. "Sadie? What kind of name is that? It's cool though! It's nice to meet you too! I'm sure Duskstar will love you, too. You look like a nice cat. I bet you'll even be able to join and get your own name!" She slowed to a stop and looked at Sadie in awe, eyes wide. "That would be so cool! I'd be able to witness something like that!"
