Firestrike grumbled as he lifted his head lazily from the grass, blinking away the bleariness of sleep as he came to. He was sprawled outside the warriors' den, his flame-colored fur gleaming in the bright sunlight. Catching sight of a familiar gray pelt, he stood, energy suddenly flowing back into his body as he padded over to his mate and flicked his tail across her spine in greeting. "Hello," he purred, a light tease to his tone. "Slept a little late today?" Jadepaw stuck out her tongue playfully, almost dropping her rabbit in the process. "Can we go back to camp?" She asked, trying good-naturedly—and unsuccessfully—to distract for her slip-up. "I think Sparrowstar is there right now, and I want her to see me bring back all this prey!" (im a twat. i thought i responded i guess not) Stonestreak stifled a laugh. "I suppose I did! Should I pretend I didn't see you sleeping just a moment ago?" Her eyes glinted with humor. She felt the strange feelings in her stomach she got every time she saw Firestrike. Since they were mates now, she had assumed these apprentice-like giddy feelings would subside. They hadn't, not yet at least. Sticking out her tongue Stonestreak quickly retorted. 'At least I have an excuse for sleeping late! I went hunting last night." She playfully headbutted him, a grin spreading across her muzzle. |

Bramblepath watched closely, making sure that nothing went wrong.
Mistyfur watched her apprentice bound into camp, then started looking for Sparrowstar.

"Kits?" Sparrowstar's green eyes widened, and she hastened after Alderblaze, her tail waving. She stopped a few steps behind Alderblaze, giving Fleetheart plenty of room should she want some extra space. "Hello, Fleetheart—congratulations," she purred, her expression caught between joy for her clanmates and sympathy for the queen. "How are you feeling?"
Firestrike let out a deep purr rumble up from his chest as he fell into place close beside Stonestreak and easily twined his ginger tail with her gray one. "Sleeping? Me?" He scoffed, letting the playfulness in his tone leak through as he gently shoved his mate with a shoulder. "I was stretching, and you know it!" It was an obvious lie, Firestrike knew, but he clearly wasn't the type to admit defeat—even when he should. "And if you were out hunting...I guess that's what woke me up stomping around the den last night!" He teased. "Did you at least catch something to make my lack of sleep worthwhile?"

Foxrunner nearly leaped out of her skin as Silverpaw appeared beside her. "Hello," she meowed after a moment, "You gave me a bit of a fright there. What's up?" she asked, turning to face the apprentice. She sat down and curled her fluffy tail over her forepaws, slightly embarrassed that she'd been scared so easily.

Silverpaw chuckled. Looks like K scared a warrior... Cool! The small silver tom purred, lashing his tail to the ground and sat down. "Can we go hunting? All the apprentices are coming back with their mentors, mouths full of prey!" He smiled. "I heard a rumor that we might be Warriors soon!" He whispered. Silverpaw stood up to face her.

"Sure," Foxrunner purred, having calmed down from her fright. "Where would you like to go?" she asked, knowing the young tom could probably handle some of the more challenging prey if he was about to be made a warrior. She figured she could use some practice as well, it'd been a while since she had gone hunting.

Silverpaw shook his pelt with excitement. "Hunting!" He puffed out his chest that was swelling with pride. "So, where is all the super hard prey? I want to impress Sparrowstar!" The apprentice purred, starting to drift away to the general direction of where he saw Jadepaw come back. Jadepaw really knows how to hunt... He pointed his black nose to the sky. I bet I'll make her jealous when I come back. Silverpaw chuckled at the thought of the adventurous apprentice.

Foxrunner chuckled as they made their way out of camp, turning his question over in her head for a moment. "Well, we could try some of the darker areas of the forest. Bigger animals often spend their time there." she told him. "Birds are also somewhat challenging because obviously they can get away from you quite easily. I'll leave it up to you to choose between the two." the ginger she-cat added, wanting to give Silverpaw options.

Silverpaw listened to her as he started to walk faster, getting more excited. The moment Foxrunner stopped talking, Silverpaw quickly responded, "I want to go to the darker parts of the forest! You know, catch all the big prey."

Foxrunner nodded, "Sure thing." she responded, picking up the pace to keep up with the apprentice. She hoped they wouldn't find anything potentially dangerous in there, though it would be good practice for Silverpaw to keep on high alert. "I've heard of some pretty large rabbits hiding out in there. Chasing them through the trees would probably be the kind of challenge you're looking for." Foxrunner meowed, keeping her ears perked for potential prey along the way.

(Okay! I haven't used Featherspark in a while, so I think I'll go with her :3)
Featherspark yawned and stepped out of the nursery, shaking out her silvery pelt as she dipped into a deep stretch. The warm, greenleaf light danced in her silky fur, meticulously groomed—there wasn't much else to do while her kits were sleeping. She loved her kits—more than anything in the world—but when one of the other queens had offered to watch Fishkit and Rabbitkit for the afternoon to give her a chance to stretch her legs, she had jumped at the opportunity. Now, all she needed was to find a hunting partner.

Lionfang wandered into the clearing of the camp, shaking clinging scraps of moss off her pelt as she rose from her nap in the warrior's den after she'd participated in the dawn patrol. Her paws were aching to go, her mind feeling fresh and much more awake than she had a few hours ago. The broad-shouldered, golden she-cat wondered if there was anyone she could hunt with and in turn noticed the silver she-cat as she emerged from the nursery.
Lionfang padded up to the queen and dipped her head politely. "Hey," she mewed to her, "since you have a break from watching those kits of yours, would you like to coming hunting with me?"

Silverpaw nodded. "Bunnies could be cool." Suddenly he picked up a scent and bounded forward. "Over here!" He whispered. His mouth opened, catching a more of the smell on his tongue. "You were right there are bunnies back here!" The silver tom settled behind a bush, staring at the brown figure with wide eyes.

Foxrunner felt a flutter of excitement as Silverpaw dashed off, breaking into a run to keep up with him. She stopped several tail-lengths behind the apprentice, not wanting to make a sound since rabbits had excellent hearing. Be careful, they can be fast, she wanted to whisper, but kept it to herself out of fear of alerting Silverpaw's prey. Careful to keep out of the small animal's line of sight, Foxrunner crept away to observe.

Silverpaw crept closer, belly fur brushing against the undergrowth. He lashed his long silver tail and stared at the target. Quickly, the young tom sprung off his hind legs, aiming his paws at the bunny. Thump! Silverpaw hit the ground hard, front paws before anywhere else. There was a lump under his soft, white paws. His blue gaze darted down to see if he caught anything. The brown shape was lying at him paws, limb. "Foxrunner!" He exclaimed as he dashed over with the dead bunny dangling from his jaws. "Look!" He dropped it, the back was damp with slobber from his mouth. His blue eyes her filled with determination and pride.

"Wow!" Foxrunner exclaimed when Silverpaw returned with a sizeable rabbit dangling from his jaws. "I couldn't catch one of those until I was a warrior," she purred, looking around for somewhere for the apprentice to hide his catch until later. "Here, you can put it under these roots." she called over to him, not wanting a fox or other animal to find it. If they were able to find a few more rabbits like that one, the Clan would eat well tonight.

( thornshade sorry for disappearing yesterday! Life got super busy) Featherspark's blue eyes lit up at Lionfang's question. "Of course!" She purred. "I was just about to head out." Her feathered tail twitching in the slight breeze, the she-cat gave one last stretch before making for the entrance of camp, her steps long and filled with contained energy; nice weather always had a way of making the already-exciteable she-cat's mood sparkle. "How would you feel about heading down to the river?" She asked, slowing her steps as if suddenly remembering her companion. "There should be prey there, surely, if not along the way." And plenty of room to fish. |
