((Haha thank you!! I just wanted her to have a reason as to why she was so grumpy and that she’s terrified that the same thing will happen to another apprentice))

Jadepaw's eyes lit up at the mention of her successes' being reported to Mistyfur. "All right," she purred, gathering the sparrow back into her jaws and trotting after Onkódis. Her bushy tail swayed gently as she fell into step beside him—hers, admittedly, quite a bit more rapid in order to keep pace, though she didn't mind the extra speed. She shifted the feathery bundle in her jaws to make room for speech, her green eyes glittering. "So, now that I've stolen your whole morning, what are you going to do with the rest of your day?" Onkódis led the way through the forest, stopping to collect the prey they had caught before, and then heading on toward the camp. He thought for a moment, deciding on how to reply as he shifted the prey in his mouth so he could speak. "You didn't steal my morning. I was planning to go hunting and was more than happy to have you along, I did ask you to come with afterall." He let out a muffled chuckle before continuing. "As for what to do with the rest of my day, I can't say. I never really plan out things to do and so things just come and happen when they do."

"Me too," Featherspark purred, her voice laced with unmistakable affection as she gazed at the furry, little bodies wrestling a few steps away. Caught up in their game, they had yet to notice their mother, and she took the precious moment to look them over as if to memorize every fleck on their fuzzy pelts. Fishkit looked sleek as ever, his meticulously-groomed, silver pelt gleaming in the daylight despite his sister's best attempts to ruffle it. And Rabbitkit— "Rabbitkit looks exactly like her father," Featherspark remarked, her eyes glittering with something halfway between grief and overwhelming joy. "Until you speak to her, that is, and then she couldn't be anyone's but mine. Dustleap was always a bit more like Fishkit—diligent and kind." She chuckled. "They balance each other out that way." No sooner had the comment left her mouth than Fishkit caught sight of the older pair. He nudged Rabbitkit with a foot, and the two of them raced over to say hello, blinking with friendly curiousity at Mooncloud.
Sootstripe nodded, a sympathetic shadow darkening his eyes for a moment. Though his tone remained light, he chose his words carefully; Mistyfur so rarely spoke about her early past that he knew only snippets, and the last thing that he wanted to do was send her back into her shell by pushing too far. "Well, now I know where you get your dauntingness from," he teased lightly. "Not that you use it often. But, from the few times that I've seen you turn your fury on someone, I'm pretty sure that you could send a cat running with a single glare.
Jadepaw grinned. "That's the way that I am, too. I like to think that it keeps me adaptable." She dipped her head to stifle a laugh—whiskers twitching—then jogged the next a few steps to settle back into her pace. "Mistyfur, on the other hand, is convinced that I'm going to bumble my way right into trouble. Practically every moment of our training sessions is planned out from beginning to end. But there's benefits to both, I guess," she admitted thoughtfully. "It's nice to get to know the other perspective, as well."

The massive tom nodded, letting out a small purr. "Yes, getting to know other's perspectives is a great thing. It shows understanding and that you have great care in how your clanmates think and work. It's also a sign of a leader." He glanced down at her with a smile.

Willowthorn stayed curled up along the bank where she was, still stuck in memories, small wails escaping her throat. It had only been 8 moons since Hazelpaw had passed, no one loved the apprentice like Willowthorn did. He was like a son to her and at times and like his mother, Willowthorn felt a giant gaping hole in her heart.

(Just letting everyone know, I have 4 characters open)
Mistyfur smiled a little and pressed up against Sootstripe, more for comforting herself than anything else, and took a deep breath to clear her head before responding. "Is that so? I never noticed," she purred. "Of course, I've never seen what I look like when I'm angry. For all I know I could turn into a badger whenever I get mad," she said, gently running her tail down Sootstripe's back in an almost absent-minded fashion. Finally, she stood back up and stretched, moving back to the edge of the water. "Well, the fish aren't going to catch themselves, and if I'm going to take a day off from my duties I should at least have something to show for it."

A quiet and light purr escaped the tom’s mouth as the kits came over to greet him. He smiled warmly at them, gently licking the tips of their heads with his raspy tongue, before letting his tail dance along their flanks. Mooncloud turned his gaze back towards Featherspark, his eyes conveying all too well the pain they both felt and shared, in the past. “They’re beautiful bundles of energy and surely have charming personalities. Though, I hope they give you pause and rest, every now and then.” He let his tail delicately run along her spine, in an attempt to keep her focussed and grounded in the present, especially now where the past was very tangible and would seize them both in its tangled grasp, if they fell in too deep. “I’m glad to hear they are such a compatible force, hopefully it will stay like that for many moons to come. In-fighting with one’s kin is something I’m not very fond of. But, in such caring company, I’m sure they’ll grow up to be great and respectful warriors, who will help the clan in any-way they can.” He turned his gaze back towards the kits and softly asked, “Isn’t that right?”

Jadepaw felt her chest balloon with pride at Onkódis' comments. "Good," she replied solemnly, straightening up and doing her best toembody a rather unintentionally stuffy air of 'leadership'. Her efforts were in vain, however; she had never been particularly good at containing her excitement, and—in this instance—it revealed itself through her bushing tail. "Have you ever been a leader of something?" She asked, glancing curiously at Onkódis. She didn't know much—or, in truth, anything at all—about his life before the clan. "Or ever considered it?"
Sootstripe couldn't help but let a purr rumble from his chest at Mistyfur's casual affection. Despite its frequency these days, each instance of it still flooded him from nose to tail-tip with gratitude and joy. "You're one to talk," he teased lightly as he shuffled over to the edge of the bank and sat down beside the she-cat. "I haven't caught a single piece of prey yet today! Watch out, if you're not careful—or if my luck is particularly bad—I might try to take credit for one of yours," he teased, turning his glittering eyes on the water to search for any potential victims swimming by.
"Of course!" Rabbitkit declared confidently, puffing out her little chest in her best attempt at nobility. She glanced at Featherspark for supper, though her gaze quickly flitted back to Mooncloud again as she added matter-of-factly, "I'm going to be the most helpful warrior that the clan has ever seen. I was even helping Fishkit with his fighting skills just a minute ago—did you see?" She added, flicking her small tail toward the now-empty spot of ground that the two kits had monopolized for their wrestling only moments ago. "Fishkit, on the other hand..." She stuck out her tongue playfully at her brother, though her eyes gleamed with obvious affection. "He isn't very good at defending our borders—but he is teaching me how to hunt, so he can help in that way." Fishkit simply shook his head, the barest traces of a smile clinging to his muzzle. Moons of weathering his sister's antics had taught him that the best course of action was usually to suffer in silence. He drew his green eyes up to meet Mooncloud's, their depths gleaming with quiet curiosity; though he had always been the shyer of the pair, his questioning mind could rarely be contained even by his wariness. "Where did you go with Featherspark this morning?" He asked tentatively.

Onkódis smiled softly at her, though that quickly changed when he asked about her. "I wouldn't really say I was a leader. Before the clan, I was a kittypet. The elder two-leg who had me was super nice but when he passed his kits tried to get rid of me. I escaped though so I guess I had to take the lead in that situation."

Your skills will most certainly help the clan out.” Mooncloud answered with an encouraging tone, before turning his calm and curious gaze towards Fishkit and gently adding, “Though, I’m sure your brother’s hunting abilities will also come in handy.” As he was gazing at the young kit, he couldn’t help but see bits of himself. A curious and eager mind, ready to explore and discover, but a tentative and cautious personality that remained shy and silent until it was gingerly convinced to come-out. He gave the young tom a silent and understanding nod, his eyes reflecting sparks of sympathy, before giving the curious mind the answer it wanted to know. “We didn’t go too far off, we walked around the area that surrounded the camp. Not much fun and excitement, there, unfortunately. But, I’m sure you’ll be able to see and explore all our territory has to offer, when the time is right. But, for now, one step at a time.” He smiled gently at the young kit, before he turned his gaze so they were both were in his field of vision and no-one would feel too ignored or left-out and gently pressed, “Are you kits looking forward to becoming apprentices?”

"And I would be fine with that. I'm sure that I can catch enough fish for the both of us," Mistyfur purred, flicking his nose with her tail. As if to prove her point, a few seconds after she had said that another silver flash entered the air as she spied another fish in the water before her. She quickly killed it and added it to the small pile that she had started earlier.

Jadepaw's eyes widened slightly, flickering with a mixture of intrigue and concern for her kind companion. Her overactive imagination lent a color of daring and heroism to the escape that fed question after eager question to her lips. "I bet you did! Why would anyone want to get rid of you?" She replied earnestly. "And what was it like, being a kittypet?"
"Oh, definitely!" Rabbitkit replied, her small forepaws leaving the ground with an eager bounce of emphasis. "It's just one more moon now; I can hardly wait! I hope I get a good mentor, though," she added as an afterthought, her nose wrinkling slightly with concentration. While his sister chattered on, Fishkit kept his leaf-green eyes fixed on Mooncloud, his silver head tilted far back to keep the tom in the scope of his gaze. Something about this calm, sympathetic warrior put him at ease in a way that he couldn't quite explain. Soft-spoken as he was—and forever tagging along behind a chestnut-furred bundle of confidence—he couldn't help but feel as if his clanmates' attention had a way of passing right over him without a second thought. He liked the way that Mooncloud's eyes had focused on him for a moment—how, even now, he seemed to welcome any further speech. The last thing that Fishkit intended to do was brush away that kindness. Gathering his strength, he nodded along with Rabbitkit. "Well, I can't wait to see the territory," he admitted, surprising himself with his honest remark. "I like to look at it through the camp entrance, but I can only see so much. It seems to go on forever," he sighed, a wistful purr lacing his words.
Sootstripe stuck out his tongue and leveled a stern gaze at Mistyfur's latest catch. Showoff. Nonetheless, his expression remained light enough to reveal the pride that he felt at having won the heart of such a talented warrior. "Just you wait and see; I'll fish circles around you..." He joked as he turned his attention back to the river just in time to catch sight of a flash of scales flitting by. He lashed out on instinct, scooping with a clumsy paw that sent the fish—and much of the surrounding water—flying onto the bank. "I got one!" He declared, triumphant.

The massive tom let out a sigh. "It was an easy life. I was protected from the elements, given my food, and received all the love I could want for the elder who was my only friend. After he died, that life became boring and filled with danger because of his kits. I was thrown in a monster and was being moved to somewhere but I managed to get out and just... ran. I ran and never looked back and one day I found Sparrowclan. At first I felt out of place here and then... I met you. You don't realize it Jadepaw, but you're part of the reason why I stayed here."

The tom nodded politely, before he meowed to the ambivalent kit, “I hope you do, as well. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time as an apprentice.” He turned his gaze back towards the paradoxically kind and shy youngling and gently added, ”Our territory is quite large, indeed. I’m sure you will love and enjoy every bit of it, once you do get the chance to see it all for yourself. I would love to take it all in, once-more, as if I never saw it before.” The tom’s eyes and gaze turned distant for a second, as the sight of the kit and the curiosity of exploration reminded him of when he was still training and venturing through the wilderness, with his mother. He lightly shook his head before continuing, “Forgive me, my age doesn’t always do my mind favors. But, I’m sure you’ll get to see it all very soon. Perhaps that can be the thing you look forward to, once you become an apprentice?” Mooncloud paused to catch his breath and re-focus his eyes on Fishkit and his present surroundings, as curiosity and empathy returned to his eyes. He wanted to continue as soon as life and breath returned to his throat, but the words he desired to say caught themselves and refused to leave his mouth. 'Perhaps now's not the time, when he is older.' He pushed past the blockade and finished, "Is there any part of our territory you would really like to see?"

(Sorry for the slow and short response, I've had a lot on my mind lately...) Mistyfur flinched as a splash of water from Sootstripe's catch flew into her face. She turned to look at him for a second, then burst out laughing. "Looks like you got me to," She joked, nuging him with her shoulder. She then turned back to the water and casually flicked another fish out of the water.

(Aww, sorry, Bramble! Is everything okay? <3)
Sootstripe shot a playful glare at Mistyfur and restisted the urge to stick out his tongue like a kit. "I'm just doing my best to make sure that you stay cool," he teased, depositing his catch safely on the bank behind him before turning back to the water in search of another. "As any noble warrior would."
Jadepaw tilted her head and gazed perplexedly at Onkódis. Though she had to stifle a chuckle, nothing in her voice or stance suggested alarm; her eyes glittered only with surprise and a rather oblivious sense of curiosity. "Well, I'm glad," she declared lightly, twitching her tail absentmindedly to swat away a particularly stubborn bee. "But I don't get it. What did I do to keep you in the clan?"
Fishkit's miniscule features crinkled in concentration as he considered Mooncloud's inquiry. Never one to take even the most casual of conversations lightly, he held back his reply as he sought a proper, honest answer. His tail swayed absentmindedly from side to side—a habitual indication that his focus was turned inward—as his mind filtered through each of the places of which he had heard his older clanmates speak. He couldn't keep a glow of excitement from his virescent eyes as he envisioned himself exploring every one of them at last. "I think I'd like to see one of the rivers," he admitted finally, glancing at his mother with a small smile before promptly turning his attention back to Mooncloud. Indeed, Featherspark herself let out a quiet purr; she had spent countless nights describing the glittering waters and her peaceful jaunts along the banks to her little ones. "But, really, I just want to see a fish in its home," Fishkit continued earnestly. "Mother told me that they live—that they can breathe—under the water. I just can't imagine it."

Onkódis stiffened now, fully understanding what he had said. As he fought to find a way out of telling her, he simply let out a sigh and smiled, not letting on to his nervousness. "How about this. I'll tell you when you get your warrior name? Until then, train hard and keep doing what you do." He smiled softly at her, hoping she would agree to wait for the answer to her question.

I'm sure you'll find them as beautiful and intriguing, as your mother. I think the territory's lush, green, valleys may also be something you'll find very charming. I loved walking in those, as a kit, and I still do to this day." The tom felt himself start to get lost in the memories of spending his time with his mother, but, this-time, he was engaged enough in conversation, that the pull wasn't as strong as it was any other time, and it quickly faded into nothingness. "Though, if those didn't live up to the tales we've told, for whatever reason, I'm sure the vast territory will offer things that will never fail to tap into your curiosity. If he sat at the very edge of camp and craned his neck past the entrance, he could just barely make out a snapshot of rolling swathes of green past the grassy tunnel that separated him from it. Even that scrap of color never failed to set his heart racing; he could only imagine the joy—and, if he truly let himself consider it, the awe-struck terror—that would come with exploring it all. "You're right; I can't wait," he replied with a purr, then paused to consider Mooncloud's most recent query. "As for other things..." He shook his little head. "I'm just excited to learn. Not the fighting so much—though I know how important it is to the clan that I learn it," he added hastily, glancing guiltily at the warrior opposite him. "But I want to learn how to hunt, and how to track a scent all across the territory. I want to learn every bit of the clan's history—and maybe even some herbs, if Bramblepath will teach me." He chuckled sheepishly, a longing look in his eyes. "I guess that's a lot of things."

Water dripped from the fur on his face, and he twitched an ear, sending water droplets flying back onto the bank. "'Reasonable', huh?" He countered, his whiskers twitching with humor. He lifted one of his wide, flat paws from the ground to examine it, then slowly immersed it in the water. But, as you'll see, I'm perfectly capable of doing that for myself!" With his final words, he swept his paw over and up, cupping as much water as he could and sending it toward Mistyfur.

He chuckled sheepishly, a longing look in his eyes. "I guess that's a lot of things." “Not to worry,” the tom meowed softly, as a light purr emerged from his throat. “I’m glad that you are looking forward to a lot. I don’t blame you for the fighting part, either. It’s one of the sadly unnecessary things we need to learn. When certain things go-down certain paths, we unfortunately have to learn ways to help us tackle those problems and issues. Sometimes, much to my dismay, that remedy is battle. Though, they are the brighter sides, such as being able to explore the territory and learning how to hunt. The medicine cats will hopefully appreciate the extra-help. Our clan is becoming a bit larger, now.” The tom paused for a bit, before lowering his voice, to try to ensure that only Fishkit would hear the phrases he was about to utter next, slightly leaning in towards the young kit. “And, if I may, I would do my best to try to ignore the teasing. I’m sure you already do, but, truly, the clan requires many skills, and you seem to be a very capable hunter. That would be your contribution to the clan, not all of us need to be the most adept at fighting. We, unfortunately, need to be able to fight when the time comes, however, if it’s a skill we need to work on that’s no weakness, and I’m sure it will be improved upon once you become an apprentice. Try to make the best out of it, when you can.” He withdrew the distance he used to make an attempt at having private conversation, before he turned his gaze so both kits were in his sights. “Now-then, it seems I unintentionally kept you two youngsters away from your mother, for quite a bit. I’m sure she has some words for you.” He gazed in the direction of Featherspark, before dipping his head appreciatively and giving her an approving nod, before turning his attention to the kits, Fishkit, in-particular, and inquiring with a gentle tone, “Unless you have anything else you want to share with me?"

I'll tell you when you get your warrior name? Until then, train hard and keep doing what you do." He smiled softly at her, hoping she would agree to wait for the answer to her question. Jadepaw wrinkled her nose in playful disdain. "You're going to keep it a secret?" She whined, her whiskers twitching with amusement. "But, okay," she added with a shrug. Her tabby tail swished contentedly, rustling the leaves on the bushes that she passed, though she paid them no heed. "It'll give me something to look forward to when I finally become a warrior—you know, as if I wasn't excited enough already." The tom smiled softly and nodded his head in appreciation. "Thank you for understanding." He chuckled lightly, though the sound was muffled because of the prey he carried. He then went silent as they approached the camp, the tom stopping to allow the smaller apprentice to go first. (When is Jadepaw going to be made a warrior?)

( Jekyll I'm not sure! I was waiting to pair her up with another apprentice so that I wouldn't be doing the ceremony with myself x3 Speaking of which, does anyone have an apprentice that they want to be made into a warrior either now or at some point soon? You can just let me know whenever, and I'd be happy to have Sparrowstar go through it ^-^) Seeing Onkódis pause to let her move on ahead, Jadepaw urged her paws into an even brisker trot through the grassy tunnel that led to the camp entrance. When she was safely within the main clearing, she turned, her bushy tail swishing contentedly as she waited for the much larger tom to catch up. She shifted her collection of prey in her jaws again to make way for speech. "Thank you so much for taking me out hunting," she purred, gratefulness clear in her tone despite the slight muffling effect of her cargo. "It was so, so much fun." Fishkit felt a deep purr rumble from his throat at Mooncloud's comforting words. He shook his head, the glee sparking through him revealing itself only in a rather bright smile—especially for the shy, young tom. It seemed to him that he had never met someone—outside of his mother, of course—who regarded him with such faith and approval. His chest warmed at the thought of his particular skill-set—though undoubtedly less flashy than some of his nurserymates' battle moves—making him an asset to the clan nonetheless. That was all that he really wanted, after all, for his future as a warrior—to feel useful to someone outside of himself. Releasing a breath, he made a mental note to watch for Mooncloud's dark pelt around camp; he had a feeling that he woud be seeking out quite a bit more advice from the kindly tom, if he could manage to get it. "What was your favorite thing about training?" He asked eagerly, drawing boldness from his desire to extend the conversation for a few moments more. "Whatever it is, I think I'd like it, too—and I want to make sure that I don't miss it."

The massive tom muscled his way through the entrance, appearing on the other side after a few moments, his ears perking as he listened to the apprentice speak. "I'm happy you had fun. I did as well." He chuckled lightly and began to lead the way to the fresh-kill pile, depositing his catches on the top before stepping aside so Jadepaw could do the same.
