(Welcome back, Dawn!)
"Well, yes," Fawnpaw replied, her green-flecked eyes glittering, "But some things are worth freezing for, and avoiding a scolding is definitely one of them." She sat up taller with a smile, wrapping her tail decisively around her paws. "If you can't stay out of trouble—which I...can't—then you'd better learn how to hide from it."
Featherspark laughed. "I agree—first pick off the prey pile is definitely the biggest perk. I love fishing by the river and even going on patrols when the weather is nice, but on cold days..." She shook her head, whiskers twitching. Being the restless soul that she was, being cooped up in camp for several moons had felt like quite a challenge, even joyful as it was; it was nice to reflect upon the perks. "I have to say, I think I timed my stay in the nursery perfectly. It's hard to complain about a warm den and dry paws while the rest of the clan is clomping through the snow."

((It was actually Blizzardpaw that asked, not Honeypaw ^^" ))
"Ha!" Hollowpaw scoffed. "That's what she gets for cheating!" Blizzardpaw turned to his brother with eyes narrowed. "Oh really? You're getting after her for cheating? How about the last time we went out hunting? We had a competition and you scared my prey away! Twice!" Hollowpaw pretended to look hurt. "What? Me? Cheat??" the pale tom mewed. He smiled innocently. "I would never!" Blizzardpaw rolled his eyes. "Well I'm glad she's ok," Blizzardpaw said to Bumblepaw. "Gotta love irony." Honeypaw just blinked, staring at Bumblepaw.
-
Lilyshower laughed, shaking her head. "I'll say! Hunting in this weather has been a nightmare!" The she-cat couldn't help but to shiver. The thought of going out again and having to chase another frozen mouse gave her grief. Finding prey out there was hard enough. Leafbare was the worst season by far. "I tell you, I tried to climb a tree to catch a bird yesterday," she mewed. "Instead of catching it, it flew away and flung snow onto my fur. It was freezing!"

Featherspark pressed her muzzle firmly shut to contain—only half-successfully—the laugh that bubbled up at Lilyshower's words. Nevertheless, she felt her heart warm; being the less-than-adept land-hunter that she was, the silver queen found something undeniably comforting in hearing that others shared her struggles on occasion. "Oh, I don't go anywhere near the trees when there's snow on the ground," she chuckled. "I'm too afraid that I'll slip and land face-first in a snowpile. Even at the river, though, I spend half of my hunting trips sure that the fish are out to get me; they always seem to splash more when the water is cold enough to freeze my pelt off!"

Hey Jade, is Fawn'Paw's paw healed? I am not caught up lol.)) (She's chatting with Nightheart in the elder's den right now, but if you want to do some training with her, I'm happy to do that, too! Her injury was pretty minor anyway, so we can just say that it's somewhat healed whenever we want ^-^)

Lilyshower shared the queen's laughter, only making no effort to hide it. She shook her head in amusement, saying, "It's almost as if they don't want to get caught!" in a joking tone. "I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets picked on." The former queen was enjoying herself. It was wonderful conversing with another Clanmate. Things have felt so off for her ever since she returned to her warriorship. Lilyshower held back a happy purr. This was nice.

(Applescent: Mara is the rogue) Mara padded up to the edge of Sparrowclan Territory, stopping herself less than a tail-length from their markings. It was not the first time she had tempted fate, and certainly wasn't going to be the last. She waited for a while, seeing if any cat would show up. She knew better than to cross the markings and pick a fight, but it was always amusing to her to verbally poke at them and see how much they would take. Eventually however, she began to get the feeling that she would not get amusement today.
Nightheart snorted at Fawnpaw's words. "Well, I guess that makes sense. I wouldn't know, I was like Bumblepaw in the fasion that I would have stayed out in the open to be found by a patrol. Still though, I guess that if you regularly get in trouble you would go to unusual lengths to avoid a scolding, wouldn't you?" he conceded.
Mistyfur caught the glint in Silverwind's eyes and backed away a little bit. "I don't like the combination of what you said, the feather in your jaw, and the glint in your eye. How about you put the feather down, and we go back to fishing before some cat other than me gets thrown in the river," she said, half serious.
(Dawn Rising: My bad) Bumblepaw nodded, taking his time to sort out the siblings banter. Finally, he agreed with Blizzardpaw by saying, "Yeah, she might be a pain in the tail, but it is a good thing that she's okay. I probably would have freaked out if it was more serious. Still though, the irony of the situation is positively priceless."

As Coldbreeze approached the scent markers he could smell a different scent on the wind, the scent of a rouge that made his fur bristle. Instead of turning back to report it he ventured forward, his paws pounding into the ground harder with a purpose. "I can smell you..." He growled aloud, his pupils widening from their usual slit-shape. His tail flicked irritably as he looked around the outsider, his black ears folded across his head.

Mistyfur turned back to the stream and sunk back into her hunting position. She waited patiently for the next fish to show itself, careful not to let her shadow fall on the water.
Mara grunted as a clan cat finally made his appearance. "I know you can. Only an idiot would sit right next to a clan's border and think they wouldn't get discovered," she said casually, getting up and stretching her legs. "You sound awefully aggresive considering I'm not tresspasing. After all, as long as I'm on this side, and you're on that side, you wouldn't be justified in attacking me. And I'm sure that your leader-Sparrowstar, was it?- would not be amused to find her cats picking fights for no reason."

Blizzardpaw nodded in agreement. "You better tease her for it!" Hollowpaw chimed in, giving the other apprentice a sly grin. "So what are you up to today, Bumblepaw?" Blizzardpaw asked, getting up to shake out his long grey fur. Blizzardpaw himself wasn't too sure of what he was to do today. So far, it's been a nice, quiet morning(?). Honeypaw lay down with her paws stretched out in front of her, and rested her chin her her legs. After a sigh, she closed her eyes.

(@lunis--Yeah! Sparrowclan doesn't have a 'specialty' like the canon clans did, but most of them can swim and climb just fine :3)
"Yeah," Featherspark replied with a small smile. "Me too. It's always comforting to hear that some of my clanmates trip over their tails at least half as many times as I do every day," she teased, leaning over to nudge Lilyshower affectionately with her shoulder and almost unseating herself in the process. Straightening up, she rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "Even my own paws are out to get me today." Despite the lightness of her tone, the point was genuine; constantly surrounded by experienced queens who seemed to know all that there was to know about raising kits, Featherspark couldn't help but spend quite a bit of her time feeling more than a bit inadequate. It was nice to laugh at herself again.
"Oh, definitely," Fawnpaw laughed, shaking her head solemnly. "If I get caught breaking the rules one more time, I think I'll be permanantly banished to the elders' den—not that I wouldn't love to spend the rest of my life chatting with all of you!" She added hastily, eyes glittering, as she suddenly remembered to whom she was speaking.

Coldbreeze glared at Mara, his white and black fur sticking out at different angles. "No one else is here, who do you think a clan leader would believe? Their own clanmate or some troublesome rogue?" He snarled taking a step toward Mara. "Better yet, who would be around to tell your story if you were no longer around to tell it?" He grinned threateningly, his all black tail lashed across the ground as he grew impatient.

Lilyshower laughed with Featherspark, her chest light. Despite the bitter cold of Leafbare, Lilyshower felt warm. She supposed the laughter was warming her underneath her tabby fur. "When are they not?" she joked in return. The she-cat twitched her whiskers in amusement. "Every mouse in the forest could hear you coming!"

Bumblepaw shrugged. "Not a lot. I haven't seen my mentor around, I don't really feel like helping the medicine cat after yesterday... Overall, I guess I'll probably end up heading out hunting by myself or something," he said, calmly sorting through his list of posibilities. "At least then I would be doing something productive. Maybe then i could avoid a scolding from my mentor."
Nightheart smiled at Fawnpaw. "Well, while we would love to have you, I also understand how it feels to be stuck in the elder's den. As you can see, I'm currently in the situation you just described yourself in. Give or take a few dozen moons or so."
Mara let out a long, drawn out sigh. "Oh, so you're going to ditch all the ethics you clan cats supposedly hold that are oh so much better than us lawless rogues? Hasn't your clan shed enough blood of ours without adding another body to the pile in an unprovoked fight?" she said, making sure to casually move herself further from the border. She looked back at Coldbreeze and sat herself back down casually. "Also, despite my sister's keen hatred for me, I doubt that she would be to enthused to find out that I was killed by a cat that lives twenty tail-lengths from her."

Coldbreeze narrowed his eyes at Mara, her calmness in this situation was irritating him to no end. "You rogues are all the same, no one would notice or care if you died by my claws." He took a couple paw steps toward her, his paws landing just slightly over the boarder. "I'm feeling generous today so I'll give you two option, run away like the mouse-heart coward we both know you are, or fight me." Coldbreeze curled his lip back, baring his fangs at Mara. He couldn't stand rogues or loners, despite being born one himself. He saw them targets to claw and bite as much as he wanted. Though it was strange, most rogues he came across would eagerly jump into a fight with him, the fact this rogue was different left Coldbreeze angry and confused.

(Sorry for the short posts and disappearing, everyone! I started an internship last week, and I'm still getting used to the schedule changes >.<)
Sparrowstar poked her head out of her den at the sound of shuffling nearby. "Oh, hello, Silverwind!" She purred, catching sight of the she-cat. "How are you doing?"
Featherspark dipped her head, doing her best to appear regretful as she stifled another snicker. "You've got me there. I never have been particularly good at the whole 'quiet' thing," she joked. "That's why I love fishing; as long as you get the prey out of the water, nobody cares how much noise you make while you do it."
Fawnpaw laughed, the prickle of discomfort along her spine easing. "Well, you'll just have to stick around until it is time for me to come to the elder's den," she teased. "Hopefully not for plenty more winters, though; I have a lot of warrior-work to do—and so do you!"

Sparrowstar thought for a moment. "You know, I'm not quite sure—oh, there she is!" She purred, catching sight of a tawny tail waving contentedly though the nearby entrance of the elder's den. "Nightheart must have roped her into a conversation," she chuckled; she had always been rather fond of the kind, old tom.

(Jade: No worries ) "Me, doing warrior work? I think that if I tried to do that it wouldn't be age that kills me, it would be Bramblepath," Nightheart couldn't help but say with a chuckle. He stood up and stretched out his legs, before resuming his position. "Is conversation not in your vocabulary or something? If I wanted a fight I would have attacked you before you knew where I was, and if I was going to run away I would have bolted the moment you said something. That doesn't mean I won't defend myself, but I for one don't care to loose blood over something petty like this..." Mara said before pausing for a moment. She considered Coldbreeze's words and then decided to test something. "So, would you consider anycat who had ever been a rogue a coward, or are you just saying that those of us who aren't the same as you are cowards?"

Lilyshower couldn't help but to shudder. "As long as it's not ice cold!" she mewed. "Hunting fish in Leafbare is the worst. Not only are the fish deep in the water, but my paws always feel frozen afterward." She did have to admit, fishing was fun. Although, the former queen much preferred chasing rabbits or other prey. She loved the feeling of the breeze in her fur.

Coldbreeze scoffed at Mara's remarks, his face scrunched up with displeasure. He smirked at her question, "Only those who choose to continue living as rogues are cowards, you come where you're not wanted and you steal prey and waste our time. You're a pest like disease-ridden rats, nothing more." He explained with a gruff and emotionless tone. He couldn't believe we was wasting his time talking to this rogue, but so long at the conversation stayed interesting he found it tolerable.

"Nothing that I can think of," Sparrowstar replied genially. "The clan can always use more prey for the fresh-kill pile, if you're planning to practice hunting with Fawnpaw—but we also need strong fighters to defend our borders, so any kind of wisdom that you can pass on will serve us all well," she added, twitching her tail in farewell.
Fawnpaw laughed. "Well, Bramblepath will just have to look the other way," she teased, her whiskers twitching playfully. "I still need you to teach me how to hunt hawks and eagles, remember? And I'm sure we can find a way to sneak past him, if need be. If there's one thing I'm good at, it's doing exactly what I'm not supposed to do."
Featherspark looked down at her paws with a smile. After so many winters of splashing through the icy water, she wouldn't be surprised to discover that she'd lost feeling in her forepaws completely. Still, it was better than bounding through snowdrifts; her long fur had a way of picking up its weight in frozen slush. "But, in greenleaf, there's nothing better than leaping into the river when the sun is beating down."

At this point, Mara could no longer contain her laughter. It took a good minute for her to get it back under control, but she still had tears in her eyes from it. "That is the funniest thing I have ever heard from a clan cat. I must say, I've never been compared to a rat before. Congrats on that one. Also, I haven't set foot on your territory since the battle against you guys. As such, I haven't stolen any prey from your precious territory," She said. She then decided to try her luck with a less friendly comment. "Also, isn't it more cowardly to live in a group than on your own? In your clan you have the protection of your clanmates, but out here we have to save our own hides."
Nightheart smiled at Fawnpaw as she spoke. The more he spoke to her, the more he confirmed with himself that she was just like his mate. "Well, I'll take your word for that. I'm sure we can come up with something to teach you how to hunt hawks. Eagles on the other hand, I don't think that I could teach you. They're a lot more intimidating than hawks."
