(Hollyfrost, I have an apprentice, the medicine cat, a warrior, and a rogue open if you want to rp.)
Nightheart shook his head. "She was gone long before you were born. It was a moon or two after Bramblepath was born," he paused to think for a moment before continuing, "She was a hunter. Hopeless when it came to fighting, but sometimes it felt like she could sense prey on the other side of the territory. " Nightheart chuckled at this. "I guess in some ways its good she didn't jo"in me as an elder. She would have gone insane being confined to the camp. She never could sit still for very long.

(Sorry for disappearing!! It's been a crazy-busy weekend, but I'm alive! >.< hollyfrost I have Sootstripe, Firestrike, Featherspark, Pebblepaw, or Jadepaw if you're interested :3 Edit: Looks like Bramble beat me to it!) A gentle smile settled on Fawnpaw's face as she painted an image in her mind's eye of the she-cat that Nightheart had described. "Always moving, huh? Like me," she purred, feeling an unexpected rush of fondness as she glanced at her tail—which, sure enough, was swishing idly. "Though I'm sure I can't match her hunting skills. Most of the time, I do just fine, but some days..." She shook her head, stifling a smirk. "I worry that I couldn't catch a rabbit even if it jumped straight into my paws. Don't you dare tell Bumblepaw that I said that," she added hastily.

(Jade: hey, you've been more reliable than I have in the last week or two xD)
Nightheart smiled at Fawnpaw's comment and nodded. He knew all to well the relationship that siblings tended to have. "I understand. I won't tell him and embaress you. Of course, I'm in the same boat. Although you could say that we have different reasons for not being able to catch a rabbit that jumped into our own paws," he said with a gentle laugh. Nightheart always enjoyed talking with apprentices. It was so... Refreshing.

(Haha thanks x3)
Fawnpaw snickered at Nightheart’s comment. “Well, it’s good to hear that I’m not the only one—and that you can make it through life as a warrior rabbit-free.” She sat back on her haunches, careful not to inadvertently stick her paws in any nests as she shuffled into a more relaxed position. “Why can’t you catch them?” She added, a curious gleam in her eyes.

(Lyonstar: I have a rogue, a warrior, an apprentice, and the medicine cat open if you want to rp.)
Nightheart flicked Fawnpaw with his tail. "Why do you think? I'm getting old, and my reaction times aren't as good as they used to be. On top of that, I'm not as fit as I used to be. Oh, and theres the fact that Bramblepath gets upset when I go to far from camp since he's worried about me," Nightheart said, ending his ramble on a lighter note.

“Oh, stop making excuses,” Fawnpaw purred, a light note of teasing in her tone. “I’ll bet you could still catch plenty of prey if you tried! You know what?” She decided. She lifted her chin haughtily, though the twitch of her whiskers—and her small size—retracted somewhat from the image of authority. “Once my paw is healed, we’re going on a hunting patrol. You can show me all of your tricks.”

"I'm sure you already know all the tricks that I do. My mate was the hunter, not me," Nightheart grunted. He let a smile show so that Fawnpaw would know that he wasn't frustrated. "I guess there might be one or two things if we decide to hunt hawks. Not exactly a common source of prey for the clan after all."

“Hunting hawks?” Fawnpaw’s eyes widened to twice their size. She had watched her share of hawks wheeling through the sky an impossible distance above her, but to see one of the powerful birds up close, even to catch it...“Oh, every apprentice in the clan will be so jealous!” She purred, imagining herself strutting into camp head high, clutching her prize. She leaned forward earnestly. “You have to teach me, Nightheart. You have to!”

Whiteclaw's eyes widened as Nightheart mentioned hunting hawks. "I can't say I've ever seen anyone catch one of those before," he remarked, awe evident in his voice, "I was always told they were far too dangerous to even try going near when I was an apprentice."

Nightheart shook his head. "If you know what you're doing, it's not dangerous in the slightest. Every cat in my old clan learns how to hunt hawks without getting themselves killed. Of course, hawks don't taste as good as most other prey, but you don't have that much choice where I come from."
As Mistyfur was walking back to camp, she noticed Moonwing attacking a bush just outside of camp. She altered her course a bit to approach the warrior. "Whats up? It's not every day somecat gets frustrated enough to slaughter the foliage," Mistyfur said. She paused for a bit, then added "I say this from personal experience," in an attempt to add a lighter mood to her comment.

“Really? Every one of the apprentices gets to do it?” Fawnpaw purred, intrigued. The notion of prey that was not just elusive but, in fact, fought back, was fascinating. Her naive, ever-ready imagination filled in broad brushstrokes, painting an image of a clan of mythical, fearless warriors. “They must be the greatest clan on earth!” She mused.

Nightheart snorted. "I don't know about greatest. If that were the case, my mate and I wouldn't have left in the first place. Still, they do have a different set of skills due to living on the edge of the mountains," he said, running through his mind the variety of different skills Hawkclan had that Sparrowclan lacked.
(Hollyfrost: I am fine with Rping the medicine cat to teach Whisppaw)

"What kind of skills?" Fawnpaw asked, letting her head fall to the side with a curious tilt as she awaited the answer. "Can we do anything that they can't? And why did you leave?" She asked. As soon as the final phrase had escaped her mouth, the chipper, young she-cat felt her ears grow hot with embarassment; despite her tendencies to be more than a bit oblivious, even Fawnpaw could guess that the question might strike a nerve. "Never mind," she backtracked earnestly, guiltily avoiding Nightheart's gaze. "Stupid question."

Nightheart shrugged. "There are no stupid questions, only some that are harder to answer than others. To answer your first question: Hunting hawks, rock climbing, and better snow hunting to name a few. For your second question... Sparrowclan is better at fighting. Don't get me wrong, Hawkclan aren't weak, and are sturdier than most the cats in Sparrowclan. But there wasn't really anything that we needed to fight up there, so we didn't train those skills as much," At this point Nightheart paused and carefully thought through his answer to her third question. "As for your third question, we left because my mate was susceptible to cold. Every leafbare, she would get sick, and the next she would be sicker. We thought that if we went to where it was warmer she would be more healthy."

Fawnpaw listened carefully, nodding along to Nightheart’s words. “That’s really brave of you,” she replied after a moment; this time, she selected each word carefully, finally managing to shake off her shame enough to pull her gaze away from the corner of the den and back to the patient elder. Her eyes glowed with admiration. “To leave everything that you know for someone you love.”

Nightheart shrugged. "When you grow up and find someone, I'm sure you would make the same choice. There isn't really that much bravery in it," he said, flicking his tail a bit. ( Sorry for short response, I'm in a hurry. )

(No worries!)
Fawnpaw let her head loll back and rolled her eyes playfully. “That’s what they all say,” she huffed, wrinkling her nose as if disgusted by the thought of finding a mate someday. “I think valor makes for a much better story.

"That is true. Bravery does tend to make stories better doesn't it? Like the time that Crystalpaw was stuck in a tree," Nightheart said, drifting his thoughts back to his old clan. He quickly brought his thoughts back, realizing that Fawnpaw wouldn't know who Crystalpaw was. "Ah, I guess that story wouldn't be as interesting to you, since you don't know anyone who was involved in it..." He said, shifting through his thoughts to land on something from Sparrowclan that he could talk about.

(Thanks for being patient when I disappear x3 I'm travelling for the weekend, so I may be on at weird hours depending on which of our hotels have wifi!)
The curious spark alighting in Fawnpaw's gaze guttered as Nightheart brushed aside his thoughts. "No, tell me!" She pleaded, rocking forward eagerly again. "Who was Crystalpaw? I've never heard of anyone with that name." Though the young she-cat was caught in that space between kithood and warriorship where stories—or, at least, admitting to enjoying them in public—had lost its vogue, the thought of a story from outside of the clan was far too fascinating to pass up.

(Thats fine. Just a foward notice, I will be gone for the last two weeks of June give or take a few days.) It didn't take long for Nightheart to give in and recollect his thoughts onto the tale. He shifted his position a bit, and then started. "Okay then, I guess it wouldn't hurt. Crystalpaw was the daughter of Blizzardstar, the leader of Hawkclan. She was also the first apprentice I taught. In general, everyone expected her to take after her father and be calm and collected-and honestly kind of cold-all the time. They couldn't have been more wrong. She was shy, which when around most of her clanmates gave the appearence of taking after her father. But when she was around me or a few other cats she was an open book and you could always tell what she was thinking."

(Sounds good! ^-^ Going on vacation?)
A gentle smile spread across Fawnpaw's face as she listened to the story beginning to unfold. Letting herself sink back into the soft moss that coated the den's floor, she nodded eagerly and prompted Nightheart onward. "She sounds really nice," the tawny she-cat purred. "I think I would have liked her! What happened next?"
