Fawnpaw thought for a moment. “It’s a long way home, and we both have something to show as an excuse for our yawning tomorrow,” she replied, wiring her jaw shut against the yawn that crept up her throat as if in demonstration. “Let’s head back. And see what prey jumps into our path while we’re walking.”

Bumblepaw nods, before realizing that his sister probably couldn't see or hear it. Instead, he spoke out loud. "Sounds like a plan to me. At this rate though, we probably won't be able to see any prey that jumps into out path while we're walking."

Fawnpaw’s brow furrowed as she strained to peer through the darkness, to little avail. The light of the stars twinkling above did little to illuminate the shadowy hills. “You’re right. We’l...just have to smell it, then!” She purred, not realizing that the rabbit that she gathered into her mouth would completely block out all surrounding scents. “Come on!” She purred sleepily as she set off at a walk. “All of the rabbits had better hide in their dens when we come by!”

"With how loudly you're walking they will." Bumblepaw purred, bounding to catch up to her. "Also, I can't smell anything over this rabbit, so your sense of smell must be off the charts."
(Sorry for short response.)

(No worries! : D)
“Well...Well, it is!” Fawnpaw replies, latching onto the first response that she could think of. “What, you’re not that good at tracking? I can catch anything, anywhere!” She declares proudly, prancing—blindly—the next few steps across the grass in emphasis.

"Watch out for the root." Bumblepaw called, noticing the bump in the darkness directly in front of his sister. He smiles at her tone and begins brainstorming a good remark. None comes to mind. Sighing through the rabbit, he continues foward. Bumblepaw glances around in the darkness, trying to make out landmarks as the travel, hopefully, in the direction of the camp.

Fawnpaw broke into a grin as she glanced down and carefully maneuvered around the barely-visible root at her paws. She slowed her pace, deeming the prudence of not tripping over invisible debris more important—for once—than prancing out in front, and fell into step beside Bumblepaw. “Maybe my mentor will actually let me train tomorrow,” she mused to no one in particular, “Once she sees the rabbit we caught!” She hefted her prize higher, though she knew that it was likely impossible to see.

Bumblepaw chuckled at his sister's comment. "Yeah. Maybe our mentors will train with us together, so that I can watch you fail." He teased, lightly bumping into her as they went.

“Yeah, right!” Fawnpaw shot back, nudging Bumblepaw a bit harder in reply. “You wish. Just wait until we get to battle training; you might be able to pounce on a mouse, but I can defend our territory!”

Bumblepaw grimaced, knowing that his sister was right. His Combat skills were... Lacking. Not that he would tell her that. She would tease him relentlessly if she knew. "Thats not true. I can defend it... From an outbreak of mice." He said in a joking voice.

“Well,” Fawnpaw replied, falling into the same light tone, “It’s nice to know that our camp will be safe from tiny invaders. You never know when they’re planning to attack!” She eyed the fields around them with exaggerated wariness. “They could be chasing after us right now...” The tawny she-cat fell into a bouncing gait, excited by even the imagined prospect of a battle after a week cooped up in camp.

Bumblepaw noted his sisters reactions, and decided to make a prediction on what she was thinking. "You're getting bloodthirsty aren't you? There isn't going to be a fight for a long time hopefully." He said, adjusting his pace to match his sister's.

“I know, I know,” Fawnpaw replied, sobering as the implications of her eagerness reached her mind as well. She dipped her head, trying to hide the flash of guilt in her eyes. “I’m perfectly happy training just to be the best apprentice,” she teased, the joke falling a bit flat as she added more seriously, “And I want to be ready—just in case.”

Bumblepaw nodded. He couldn't argue with that. He continued forward, trying to come up with a good topic. None came to mind however, so he just stalked along in silence. As he paced onward, he glanced around at their surroundings, marveling at how different they looked in the darkness as opposed toin bright daylight.

Fawnpaw traced her brother’s gaze, letting her glance sweep over the dark hills just barely visible to her sleepy eyes where the tops were gilded with moonlight. “It’s like a whole different world,” she murmured, shaking her head. Her eyes sparkled with interest. “I can hardly even tell that we’re still on the territory! I don’t know that I’ve—I’ve ever been out this late,” she admitted, her words interrupted by a yawn that almost had her dropping the prey in her jaws.

Bumblepaw laughed, glancing over at his sister. "I can tell, otherwise you probably wouldn't be yawning like your jaw wants to drop off." He flicked her with is tail and took a moment to quench his own yawn that would ruin his previous statement. "Besides, I doubt that we'll be out this late very often so we have to enjoy it while we can." He purred.

“Hey, I am not—“ Fawnpaw began to retort, but her words were cut off abruptly as she wired her jaw shut against another yawn that threatened to ruin whatever scrap of pretense she had left. “It just...takes a lot out of you to be the greatest apprentice all the time,” she declared. “But you’re right; it’s really incredible out here when we can’t see anything.”

"Greatest apprentice of all time huh? I beg to differ." Bumblepaw teased. He continued forward for a bit without saying anything, but finally spoke again. "You know, we should get out like this more often. It honestly gets kind of boring staying in camp all the time. I mean, we go out hunting occasionally, but thats not really as ofter as I would like."

Fawnpaw smiled softly and shifted her gaze sideways to land on her brother. She glanced forward, just barely catching sight of what looked like the familiar curve of the hill that held their camp, and something crumpled in her chest despite the sleepiness dragging down her paws. "I think so, too. I miss getting to show you up all the time," she teased, though a clear note of truth lay behind her words. "This is fun."

Bumblepaw smelled the camp up ahead. He blinked to keep his eyes open. He didn't want to show his sister just how tired he actually was. "True, I also enjoy showing you up as well." He teased her back. "Well, I guess we should just put these in the pile and go to sleep. This was fun."
(Do we want to skip to daytime, and either way do we want to continue with these two or move on to other characters?)

(Sounds good! And as far as characters, I’m good with anything. You can pick :3)
Fawnpaw grinned and rolled her eyes. She quickened her pace as they neared the prey pile and tossed her rabbit neatly atop the dwindling supply, not yet replenished by the dawn patrol. “G’night,” she murmured, flicking her tail in farewell as she trotted off toward the den.

(Okay! I think we left them off in that cave, right? If not, just pretend this is happening in the warriors’ den x3)
Sootstripe awoke to soft, fuzzy darkness all around. He blinked sleepily for a moment, the fur beginning to prickle along his spine at what his eyes could discern of the unfamiliar surroundings, before he registered the warm weight of Mistyfur closeby. A loud purr escaped his chest as the events of the day before rushed back to his clearing mind, and he leaned forward to flick his tail lightly over one of Mistyfur’s ears. “Good morning,” he whispered. “Or whatever time it is. I honestly can’t tell.”

Mistyfur woke pleasantly to Sootstripe's voice, and stretched out next to him. "I would guess that it's morning. I bet they're wondering where we are back at camp," She said. She curled up again next to him and gazed happily into his eyes. "We should probably be heading there... But I kind of just want to stay here for a while," She purred as she tapped his nose with her tail.

Sootstripe huffed a contented sigh and curled his body more closely around Mistyfur’s. He let his head fall to his paws, a wry smile blooming. Nestled beside her, the thought of heading back to camp and breaking this suspension with the responsibilities of the day was far from his mind. “We’re always running off on some hunt or another. We can say we got lost.” He laughed softly and flicked his tail toward the entrance of the den and the forest outside. “Do you want to go get lost for an hour or two?”

Mistyfur purred as Sootstripe curled himself around her. She had always said that she was at home with the clan, but now that she was here with Sootstripe she couldn't think of anywhere else she would rather be. "Aren't we already lost? I think that spending the night in a cave counts as lost, wouldn't you?" She purred as she lay her tail across his paws.

“I guess you’re right,” Sootstripe admitted. The beginnings of a smile curled across his mouth again. “It’s a good excuse in itself—‘it got so dark that we couldn’t find our way back and had to shelter in a cave.’ No one will wonder why we didn’t bring back any prey. We could tell everyone that we met a badger down here if we really want to make a story worth listening to,” he added, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “Two warriors defeating a giant, bloodthirsty badger...I think we could pull it off.”

(Ah, isn't it lovely when the wifi cuts out for an entire day?) Mistyfur purred and rubbed her nose against his cheek. She pressed into him a bit more before continuing the conversation. "I don't think they would believe us, even if we came up with a story like that. Especially if we came up with a story like that," She meowed quietly in his ear.
