As of now, nothing is set in stone. However, Tomo has made it clear to me that he highly advises against it, due to safety concerns.

The reason some people have been posting it is because of the short hand on moderation. ^^ There is currently a process going through, on searching for a moderation team, A.SAP. Stay patient, and I'm certain that Tomorrow's new team will be enforcing the rules in no time.

i've been wondering the same thing. i (am putting in my own 2 cents no-one asked for lmao) disagree with the safety issues with them, though. there are MANY sites out there that allow them, and personally the worst thing i've see happen is people get their photos stolen, and considering this is such a small community, what with everyone here being from the wcf, and the fact that guests can't see the boards, i think that'll be unlikely. but yeah, in my opinion they should be allowed! if you don't want to, or don't feel comfortable that's fine! i just don't see any major risks with it

Think of this through a business aspect- Selfies just like coffee can result in a lawsuit. A lawsuit that could have been avoided should a small detail been taken care off. Have you herd of some of the craziest things people get into legal trouble for? A lady sued McDonald's for getting a cold coffee, because she wanted hot coffee Someone sued Starbucks for getting the wrong order Someone sued an RV company because a sale's men told her about cruise control "doing the driving for you" - She assumed this, and left her RV unattended only to crash. Then sued, now we have labels saying the cruise control keeps your speed going, NOT drives for you. That being said, there is a little more to the selfie reason then people consider. HOWEVER this will be for Tomorrow-Mod to decide later. ^^

I would say probably not, due to, as Shining said, lawsuits and safety issues

So with that in mind, there will be younger users begging their parents to let them switch. Let's think of this now in the long run - These forums at the moment are accessed through the passing link. Maybe later down the road this site will start to rp more commonly on search engines. New users may find it, since it appears to be like the GO TO place for WCF fandom. They may have parents observe this, then that observation could lead to problems. (Now this is a farfetched possibility, but we also need to take into account that this is kinda the communities way of preserving what they love.) I only bring up these possibilities because I am studying to be a teacher, and some of our classes involve being out on the actual field. I've dealt with parents, and pictures/selfies/just anything that says "Hello this is me!" can set one or two parents off with the panic button. Not saying all parents are; however it is the minority of parents that seem to always ruin to experience for the majority. Better to be safe, then sorry!

also just to point out, there are some strict parents who would like to think that their child is being responsible on the web. So, if they see their child using a real pic of themselves as an avatar or a selfie, they may get the wrong idea, and the poor kid may not be able to get on any website without their parent glued to their shoulder bc "stranger danger".
(I am a result of this, tho not concerning selfies, its the fact I was "talking to strangers" and "predators could find me through a kid website". Yeah my mom doesn't like the wcf, so for the past 7 years I basically snuck on lol, but that's besides the point.)

As a note - I also had issues with my mom trying to control my internet usage for the longest time. It only stopped once I moved out a few months ago. I am an adult now and live my own life seperately, but I can atestify that there was a day I had to hide that I was using any sort of social media. My mom literally blamed WCf as well as WCRPG (feralfront) for my downfall healthwise, and said that they were evil and I'm not allowed to use them.

Maybe just a selfie thread instead of allowing it in avatars (so that you don't have to view it if you're uncomfortable with it)? Maybe only allow those who are of age or have parental permission to post them?

That could be a possiblity - but there is still no perfect, 100% accurate way to determine if someone is lying about their age or parental consent. There could be people to slip through the cracks - and it could still pose a safety risk and possibly even bring on legal parameters. :/

yeah. My mom would go crazy and like try SO SO hard to tell me that crazy people would like find me on wcf and find where I lived and stuff and then in the same breath she told me "if you want to play on the internet and talk to people, go on facebook" if I'm not correct, doesn't facebook like idk tell your location with every post, show your face and name and etc, and like idk personal stuff? whereas wcf only showed me as a cat and a cool name :]

My mom wouldn't even let me have facebook for a long time. Finally after many instances of her discovering my secret facebook accounts, shr realized it was a battle that wasn't worth fighting and gave in. She moved on to hounding me about the dangers of WCF and FF.

I think its just going to simply be either its allowed, or no.

but yeah, for selfies, I think it just depend on what the Mod(s) think. True. It is up to them in the end. However, I think we should be allowed to share an opinion. Although I like the idea of being able to share selfies and such, there are children who use websites like these, and it could put them at risk, however small the risk is. And then legal parameters could be brought forward if something were to happen, starclan forbid. Maybe there could be some sort of compromise or something though

i'm pretty trusting of people on here (in fact i met up with someone i met on the wcf irl back in june) so i don't think many legal issues could arise from sharing selfies, HOWEVER i feel like we're better safe than sorry. i agree with not having selfies in avatars and keeping them to designated threads, i feel like having irl pics of yourself as an avvie would just lead to problems. i also agree with being of age or having parental consent to post one, although i'm not sure how that could be enforced because you can always, yknow, lie. tis a sticky web, i want people on here to continue having fun in a relaxed atmosphere but i also dont want problems popping up that could've been avoided.
