Kayla: Lucifer came out with a new season. And of course ended in a cliff-hanger. Now I'm on to other shows while I sob over the fact I didn't see cliffhangers coming.

Aw man another cliffhanger? I was hoping the new Lucifer season would wrap things up.

You ... you haven't gotten that far? Ooooooh I am so sorry for you. I'm so sorry for me. Buuuuuuut nope. There are still problems to work out. So many problems. Please tell me when you get to the end. The only other person I have to scream at is Dingoleap. (The traitor to got me to watch this show in the first place.)

Ahahaha rip.
I watched the first season but I lost interest in the second. Just let my boy solve crimes without all these season-wide plots! I am a sucker for procedurals and monster-of-the-week plots, can you tell?

|
|
Post by mintedstar/fur on May 13, 2019 14:03:17 GMT -5
I'm actually cool with the season-wide plots. Not so much for the plots themselves but because of the leaps and bounds in character development for everyone involved.
I'd watch anything if there was good character development. XD

Oh that's valid, character arcs are great. If I could find a monster-of-the-week style show with good character development, I'd be in heaven.

Mint; nice! I actually don’t watch Lucifer, but if I had started it when it came out, I know I’d like it. It was always on tv before another show that I watched so I’d always catch the ending (meaning the last 2-5 minutes XD) but have no idea what was going on xD

Kayla: XD Oh my gosh that's rather funny. The last 2-5 minutes would make no sense, I'm so sorry.
Ever read Good Omens?

Mint; yes, I can agree that they make no sense XD & No! I have not read the book, but I have seen many trailers for the tv show, if that's the same thing! (:

Kayla: Yes! It's the same as the trailer. It's based on a book written by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett if you know them. It think it's going to be an interesting show.

Mint; oh, nice! It actually does look good XD & the names sound familiar, but I don't know if I've read them before. Neil Gaimen sounds more familiar than Terry Pratchett. Does he have other books?
|
|
|
Post by mintedstar/fur on May 16, 2019 14:46:08 GMT -5
Kayla: Terry Pratchett probably sounds less familiar because he mostly writes Adult Fantasy/Sci-fi (which I started reading when I was 12, soooooooo ). Neil Gaimen wrote books very familiar right now. The Graveyard Book, Stardust, American Gods, Anansi Boys, Fortunately, the Milk, and various others. Good Omens was written in the early writing career of both men and is honestly superb. Terry is known a bit better in England and Neil in the US.

Mint; that makes sense then (: Maybe I’ll have to add Good Omens (and others!) to my to-read list! I’m still about 30 books behind, but I don’t mind adding more xD

Mint; That’s an impressive list! I can’t read that many books at once, haha. I suppose you could say I have 3 books that I’m currently reading, but technically only 1... because I decided I’m going to finish the one I’m most invested in first and then re-start the others xD As for unread books, that’s about 30+ books I own and haven’t read xD otherwise, my list is much larger than 30 XD
From your list, I have read The Girl on the Train and the Book Thief. What is the Human Interest Stories of the Three Day Battle at Gettysburg? I love learning about the civil war!

Kayla: It's basically what the title says. It might be a bit hard to get a hold of though. It's almost newspaper-clipping style. I think it's from the 1980s? It's got some black and white pictures of monuments and then tell about them and the pictures featured in it. I just finished it about an hour ago. It's got a sad story in it about two college friends who were on opposite ends of the war but ended up meeting by the place they grew up in. They found out they were courting the same girl (who lived in the area) and they basically said that if they both got out of this that the other would respect the girl's wishes on whichever one of them made her happiest and promised to protect her during the up and coming fight. But one of the friends died and the other one was there to watch and hear his last words about how he knew it would be him who lived and to make sure his mother knew what happened.

Mint; oh, that's different! Would you say it's more of a book to learn information/informational or more of a pleasure book? That sounds really sad ;-;

Kayla: Food for information. My sister took one look at it and asked why I was doing schoolwork on break. XD But it isn't long and it's got a couple interesting things in it. And several really dull things in it. But win some, loose some.
There was another story about a Confederate General and a Union General and ... I don't remember which, but I think the Union one? Was injured on the battlefield and the Confederate General found him and everyone thought he was dying so the Confederate General granted his last request to see his wife (who was a nurse also on the front lines) and made sure she got through. And she ended up saving the Union General's life. Anyway, they both went to separate sides of the war again and some time later the Union General hears that General So-and-So with the same last name died and was really sad because that guy had helped him out and been really kind. So the war ended and the Union General ended up as ... I want to say some Government position? And then this ex-Confederate General turns up at a party one day and they're both like 'I thought you died in the war???' and they ended up being really good friends after the war too.

Mint; that's funny XD But, if you're into that kind of stuff, it can be fun & doesn't seem like work at all XD I got a civil war book a few years ago to read for fun & learn more XD I haven't read much of it yet just because I haven't had the time, though. & wow! That sounds like an interesting one, as well!

Kayla: Yep! And now I'm reading Fellowship of the Rings to try it out. But, while it isn't bad, I'm feeling I would appreciate the movies more. ^^ Or would get more joy from the books if I had a visual playing in my head.

Mint; I’m the opposite XD I haven’t watched the movies because I want to read the books first XD I actually own them all, but I haven’t had the time to read them because they’re so big that I always end up reading something else first, haha.
