Leave it to Psmith is one of the best I've read in a long time. The audiobook is on youtube.

it's a superb work of comedy. the title character psmith is like james bond. the book was published in 1923 so that's before james bond ever existed.

You eventually just chin up and start writing. Once you get started, it becomes a lot easier.

I've written two fan fictions for a fan-clan that I'm in. Neither of them were good enough for me to transfer over to the new forums.
The only story that I have "finished" is a romance one written for NaNoWriMo. Overarching plot is fine; it surrounds a main character with a somewhat dark background and his interactions with a mute girl. Has a bit of a magic twist to it. However, no matter how I rework it, it just doesn't seem quite right.
Other than that, all the stories I write always end up too childish and get scrapped about a chapter or so in. (One very cheesy Werewolf story. A vampire romance that was just stupid, what might as well have been a childrens novel... Not much luck there)

I have a werewolf story too.
Does everyone have a werewolf story? o.o
Admittedly, I have more vampire stories, but still ... besides the point. I have a story for every fantasy creature in the book.

Most of it is under a tight lid because of the fact I haven't finished it yet, but I'll see what I've said about it other places.
"Protag. 3 (original story that I never talk about, bwah ha ha): This one ain't a vampire for once. I love the old folktales, so I did some great and heavy research for his series. Sandy haired blond, probably would be German if Germany existed. Brought up with a family that ran a pub, completely (classically) unaware of what he was. One day he gets dragged into the worse turf war and prophecy you can imagine. He's a belt werewolf, which means he needs to use a wolfskin belt to change form. I love all the minor characters in this story, because I allow myself to break away from the classic definitions of folk lore creatures and instead use all the old, old, old way that people used to see them. >:3"
The first book is called The Wolf's Knife. I wrote it for NaNo three years back. ^^

My vampire story is called plastic teeth and is about a man living in nyc with a vampire crashing on his couch. The vampire is very uneducated and only about 68 though he looks 30. The story is basically a character study of them while also being a slightly humorous slice of life.
My werewolf story takes place in the Victorian era. The werewolf is a young lord and famous writer. He has been a werewolf for a few years, turning on a hunting trip with his father. His father feels really guilty for making his son go and has to deal with a lot from that angle. The story starts when the werewolf lord goes to a circus and falls in love with a lion tamer woman, deciding to make her his wife since it is also very practical. Actually he doesn’t really love her, he’s just really impressed by her act.

Ah, how nice. XD That would be something I'd read, to be honest.
Ha. That's another one I'd read. CX Very interesting plots, both of them! I usually go for a lot of action and then head for the plot twist no one saw. In my fan fictions at least. In my 'for myself' work I try and focus less on plot and more of what my characters feel. I'm not always sure it works.

I really like simple, catchy premises. I could never do huge crazy worlds like lord of the rings or anything like that. I’m a simple person who writes about simple things. I try to make my writing style as “fun” and assessable as possible so that if it doesn’t work as a solid story, it might still be enjoyable in a sense.

Well, my werewolf one isn't nearly as interesting as either of yours... I did start writing it before I was a decent writer though, so that might be part of it. The vampire one has a decent plot line, but as I mentioned whenever I start writing it it works out way to childish for my liking. The overarching plot revelves around a highschool boy in a world where vampires are known and hated throughout the world. Early on it becomes clear that the main character is hiding something, but the readers recieve no confirmation on what it is. Over time, the main vampire-hunters in the area start to clash with a "shadow-clan," essentially vampire-hunters that hide themselves and are rumored to have special powers that they get by some evil ritual involving vampire fangs. Towards the end of the book, the main character's luck takes a turn for the worst, as his best friend turns out to be a vampire. That was a mouthfull. It doesn't sound that good when I spit it out that way, but oh well. My NaNoWriMo project is better than that one anyways

𝓓𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓱 𝓑𝓻𝓪𝓶𝓫𝓵𝓮 and what's your nanowrimo? actually that vampire one doesn't sound too bad. I think if it focuses on the two friends and the guy figures out the truth a lot sooner it could be really cool.
