If i can be honest Mafdet went from hmm i don't know she seems boring to new fav really quickly. Also Loving that name choice. mafdet is the embodiment of that one kid in group projects who has to do all the work in the og one she (he, as the Speaker was male in the original opera) was Not Good but here hopefully she's more likable. she isn't the most empathetic of cats but she has a job to do and she won't let anything get in the way of it (which is, as you will see, both a good or a bad thing depending on who you are.)

Which is relateable. I was always that one kid myself. But she actually has the gumption to call the other kids out for it and I don't which makes her a better person than me lol.

Sorry but now i'm just thinking about Sarastro as that alt-right guy who was publicly harassing women and then cried on national television when his wife left him. Like gee, you don't like women and they get sick of you. What a surprise!

@bumbleberry (can't quote rn the site's glitching): yeah that was basically original opera's sarastro. basically if you weren't a male completely willing to join his weirdo club (read: most of the people in this godforsaken opera) you were Shunned. You're female? Shunned. You don't want to join because it's just not really your thing and you would really rather be left out of the story? Shunned. New Sarastro at least isn't a sexist moron, but still. His kids were drowned, his wife was killed, his entire kingdom was overthrown by his former best friend, what can he do but move on. He's such a pitiful excuse that I can't even show his design yet lmao

callout post @sarastro- -doesn't do anything but sit at the wall and cry -has only one eye and doesn't rock it nearly as good as Mike Wazowski does -accidentally turned his greatest friend into his greatest enemy -ok really who came up with the kidnapping pamina idea and who decided to bring along monostatos when monostatos CLEARLY HELPED THE QUEEN TAKE SARASTRO'S PLACE IN BATTLE -was sexist in the original -makes everyone's mental health worse -didn't do anything about the class divide -almost everything about him is a spoiler -doesn't even make a good first impression like the Queen can -terrible parent, couldn't even save his own kids -originally a freemason priest in the opera -supposed to be a member of the sun ideology but he sits in darkness all the time -nobody even knows what he actually looks like -seriously does anyone like this guy???

The update isn't ready yet, but I did manage to update the entire Cast list- cleaned things out and adjusted some of the little descriptions to fit (as well as cleared up some things that weren't very clear, such as the little thing on Papagena at the end. Who is Papagena, you ask? Don't worry about it, she's dead anyway!)

//VIBRATES EXCITEDLY FOR AFOREMENTIONED SCENE CHANGE
Sterling is so cute also, wtf.
I'm not a big opera/musical person but you're making me want to kinda go see this. (The problem is, noises + my brain are a bad combo.) But I also feel like I can't just read a quick synopsis of it either cause then. It might just spoil things.

(The problem is, noises + my brain are a bad combo.) But I also feel like I can't just read a quick synopsis of it either cause then. It might just spoil things. scene change is basically us finally returning to Tamino and Papageno's Excellent Adventure, featuring Tamino realizing he's done messed up big time with the whole "literally release some guy from hell" thing. also featuring the triumphant return of flute spirit and some others sterling shows up later in a short amount of time. unfortunately...I think having a synopsis for any opera besides The Magic Flute wouldn't spoil anything at all (any other mozart opera because they don't play a major role in the plot, Don Giovanni because it happened before the events of Ensemble, and The Marriage of Figaro because of foregone conclusions and the title itself giving away the plot). Ensemble however varies wildly from The Magic Flute, so if you saw the Magic Flute you still wouldn't see a lot of the things coming. (There's a specific point during Ensemble's second half that's radically different to the opera's whole point, and from there on out it becomes completely impossible to mimic the opera due to circumstance). All other similarities and differences I stay mum on, but keep in mind that some things are mimicked more than others...

I googled Opera Cat out of sheer curiosity and here's some of the best pics ive found I also found whatever in the fresh hell this is: www.beijingoperacats.com/i actually have a book by susan herbert solely consisting of cats as opera characters. (that's actually where my current avatar is from; it's supposed to be Figaro as seen in The Barber of Seville). some things are alike when comparing my designs to hers (the Queen is a solid fluffy white cat, Figaro is ginger (in a separate picture from the one in my avatar)) and some things are different (leporello is a ginger tabby for some reason?) i often refer to it as Better Cat Opera i have no idea what fresh hell that other thing is tho

Idk man its a pretty solid rule of thumb that if someones in hell theyre probably not a good person. But I guess he never got that memo. I mean. all of the clues were right there in front of him. The abandoned bar, the whole dining room being scorched and bloody, Leporello acting all weird, Papageno literally explaining to him bad cats go in the incinerator 5 minutes before Tamino goes ahead and lets Don Giovanni out... to use a metaphor I've already used today; it's like watching a parent force their five-year-old to watch Watership Down as a "babysitter movie", it's terrible and can only result in harming yourself and others but I can't say I didn't warn you.

"Terror of toms and monster of mollies" These alliterative cat puns are why I get up in the morning. it took me literally an entire day to figure out what could rhyme with "mollies" that would really put enough emphasis on itself. the monster of mollies, indeed...

might do a revamp of the main posts some point this month(?) but idk that bright green gets annoying after a while. ah well added the title of act one to the comic archive and a quote that shows up for the first time in-story not far from now. What Does It Mean? guess we'll never know.
