so far i have heard 0 (zero) reports about his grave spinning so hard that it digs itself up out of the ground and ends the mystery of where Mozart was buried, even though that is ensemble’s main purpose

ive also realized that i have absolutely no idea where leporello lies on the morality scale so y’all get a nice poll so i can see what you think because i am straight outta ideas

honestly 75% of my attempts to draw cats look like garbage. i usually have to redraw a panel like 3 times before i decide it’s tolerable

I’m not sure how he’d feel about Ensemble, to be honest. I like to think he would enjoy it but I know there’s a good chance he wouldn’t 
like he loved cats? so there’s that
but he was also very staunchly catholic (this was after all the 18th century) and given the cast of ensemble are cats and therefore not god-fearing...
also there’s no bathroom humor in ensemble, even though that was one of his specialities
conclusion: what would he think of it? who knows. but if he’s flipping in his grave from it maybe it’ll help people find out where the hell he was buried in the first place

ensemble leaks feb 2018

There’ll probably be a smaller update for Ensemble this week because I was at the opera. (And my computer got replaced so it took a while putting it together).
it was a Great Time, as always, so I put together pictures.
The opera on the table was Cosi Fan Tutte, another Mozart opera. It’s from the same two guys who also brought you The Marriage Of Figaro and Don Giovanni, but it’s kind of a lesser younger brother among the three in that it was banned for a century.
The Marriage Of Figaro, a revolutionary play about the servant rebelling against their master? Not Banned.
Don Giovanni, a dark opera about a harasser getting what he deserves as his schemes collapse in on each other, known for how violent and crass it can be? Not Banned.
This Thing? Banned after only five performances.
I don’t get it either. I mean, from my standpoint it isn’t as good an opera as the other two, but still. Rules of banning make no sense.
It’s basically about an old man scsrewing over everybody to be sexist and a maid screwing over everybody slightly less just to have fun (and money). That’s about it, which is a simple plot compared to pretty much every other opera.

It’s Chicago! No opera cats here it seems. I also went to a train station that features in the comic later as well, but I couldn’t find any opera cats down there either

In Ensemble, the cats consider this a god. It’s not quite a god but it’s impressive.

The ads on the screens at the front of the building are the closest you ever get to taking photos of the actual production. Look at all those maids!

I went downstairs and found a whole gallery of pictures, although I didn’t have time to take pictures of most of them so i just took pictures of some of the Don Giovanni ones.

Sinister activity is afoot.

Inside the theater. That big orange curtain is called the Fire Curtain (I have theories as to why but nothing seems proven). It’s made of solid steel, and is pretty distinctive.

Imagine being the guy that had to paint and carve all of this...

“But don’t they have a regular red curtain?” They have it too, just under the Fire Curtain. It often gets removed for different productions though, this is the first time I’ve seen it in what five years?
They also give you a little program to read. It’s... interesting.

They seem too happy to not have their lives screwed over.

So long, opera house. I couldn’t take anything in between due to the photography rules. It was good, take my word for it.

I had to stay in the city overnight because of the time (it was like 12 am when it finished), so here’s the Chicagoan sunrise. Sarastro could use it I think.

And that’s all I have right now. It was a strange but good time

sorry about lack of update again! i’ve been busy and i’ve been working on a short mini-comic thing featuring everyone’s least favorite problematic servant so i haven’t had much time to work on it. i’ll try to get something up tonight
man i have been doing a terrible job with my schedule recently

there most definitely will be an update by Thursday! the update schedule is now a bit more relaxed (once every Sunday-Tuesday), but i intend for it to be tighter once summer kicks in.

It might be due to the image host I used for those (old image host was rejecting those pages for some reason) so i’ll try to reupload them tonight.
