Looking good! I'll research a bit on mushrooms to see if there's anything to append to the list, but otherwise we're good on this aspect!~ I'll get the animal list properly put together soon in a moment as well!~
Perhaps we could do the rules next? Also, if possible, we should probably get more RPers to join, that way I can gauge how many clans would be in the RP.

Like it lists types of flower and trees and maybe even bushes if you'd wanted. Yes, that sounds good as well. Do you want me to start some rule suggestions or do you want to do that?

A general plant list would be cool, though it may be tedious to list down every species in the area, since I can't find any resources that scream "Here's literally every plant and fungi species found in Lawrence County". Also, I don't exactly live in the Wampum area, I only pass through often, and I can't go outdoors and wander in the woods, being a minor and all. Adding dangerous plants would be a good idea, though. Also, in regards to adding mushrooms, apparently morels were found around West Pittsburg in 2013 during mid April, and they're edible and very high in iron-- 8mg per cup! They could maybe be used for iron deficiency anemia, which might be a problem with any kittypets joining the clan? (since cheap kibble is just a load of starch and corn.) Suggesting rules would be lovely, since I'm pretty much in research plant mode, so to speak. cx It would distribute the workload nicely.

Yes, that'd be very interesting and helpful if the Clan(s) knew about it. And yeah, it could help any kittypets joining the Clan. As for how they find it out, perhaps this/these Clan(s) were descended from lab cats who knew about some sciencey information. Okay, then I can get started. Basic rules: No godmoading/power playing Now powers/unusual abilities No killing or controlling others characters without permission Don't create prophecies without the RP runners permission

Perhaps they found out about morels helping with anemia because an anemic cat with pica went and ate a few, then had better health? It would be a natural explanation without lab cats being part of the equation-- not to shoot down the idea, but around here it's not exactly by Harvard or Yale. If human knowledge did come into the equation, then maybe it was a barncat that observed their sick human eating morels and feeling batter afterwards?
As for dangerous plants, I know a few from experience: Stinging Nettle (has little stinging hairs on the leaves that stick in your skin and make it incredibly itchy. Beware if you're especially allergic) Poison Ivy (do i have to explain) Poison Hemlock (could be mistaken for Wild Carrot if a med cat app doesn't look carefully- carrot has 1 purple or red flower, while hemlock does not. Fun fact, this is what killed Socrates) Buttercups (you have to eat a bunch to die, though) Nightshade (pretty plant, also happens to be pretty fatally toxic) Jimson Weed/Devil's Trumpet/Stinkwort (very poisonous, in the same family as nightshade, tomatoes, and potatoes) Little Brown Mushrooms (like the kind that grow in lawns, covers a LOT of species but they're not to be eaten since a few are quite toxic)

In fact, that's a better explanation anyway. Okay, thank for that information as well as some interesting facts to go with it.

Hehe, thanks! I think I'll go with the barncat knowing and the clans learned from the cat, since the human interaction part of the story is pretty nice
Also, to add to the list, all plants in the lily family would be added to the poison section. I forgot to parse through the herb list for lillies, but I'll do so now to ensure the cats aren't making poison medicine. I'll add onto the poison category as well, if I see fit
I'm also considering one of the rules to be allowing of LGBT cats in the RP, as it isn't too uncommon in nature, and warrior cats is already a very humanized series. (I mean, I found out that even male betta fish can be gay, and apparently there was a pair of them that cohabited a tank together without murdering one another-- and usually male and female bettas will be at eachothers' throats once they're done reproducing!) However, I wanted to run it by you first, to let you know.

In regards to pruning the herb list: Solomon's Seal is off the herb list, as are Trilliums. To add to the poison list; Wild Parsnip and Dogbane. I'm considering adding New England Asters to the list (along with other blue-purple asters as just Blue or Violet Asters) because they apparently have a calming, mellowing affect when eaten (but not as sedative as poppy), and a poultice applied to the skin alleviates pain from Poison Ivy rashes.
And it is rather interesting about the bettas. You wouldn't think it was possible, but Mother Nature loves to make surprises, doesn't she?

Again, very interesting how things work. Here's my list of poisonous plants and fungi... Buttercups- can kill if too many are consumed. More of a hazard to kits Dogbane- fatally toxic if consumed, all parts of the plant are dangerous False Morels- There are a few different species that classify as False Morels, and all have toxicity levels that range from mild gastrointestinal upset to outright death. Hemlock- fatally toxic if consumed, all parts are dangerous. Bears a close resemblance to Wild Carrot Lilies- fatally toxic to cats at levels of even minor exposure, such as a quick nibble on a leaf Little Brown Mushrooms- Only a few are life-threateningly toxic, but due to the fact the harmless ones share the same characteristics of the fatal ones they are considered dangerous as a group. Often pop up after heavy rains Nightshade- fatally toxic, all parts of plant are dangerous to consume Poinsettias- mildly poisonous to cats, causing gastrointestinal upset. Sap exposure on the skin causes rashes. Found in Twoleg-places during leafbare Poison Ivy- oil on the surface of the plant causes extremely itchy rashes, sometimes with painful blisters Stinging Nettle- small needles on leaves stick into the skin, causing painful and itchy rashes White Deadly Mushrooms- Fatally toxic if even a single bite is consumed. (the cat name is White Deadly, but we know these mushrooms as Destroying Angels) Wild Parsnip- sap on the surface of the plant causes painful blistering and makes the skin extremely light sensitive

American Beech - yes Sugar Maple, Red Maple - yes Eastern Hemlock - I'm going to say no, due to confusion of the two vastly different hemlock trees and plants, and also since I've never found the tiny cones they use to reproduce Yellow Birch, Sweet Birch - no Eastern White Pine, Vrigian Pine, Pitch Pine - yes, but the forests have a majority of deciduous trees rather than mainly pine Black Cherry - yes Bitternut Hickory - yes White Oak, Scarlet Oak, Chestnut Oak, Black Oak, Northern Red Oak - yes Tulip Poplar - no Black Gum - yes Black Walnut - yes Cucumbertree Mongolia - yes to add a few staghorn sumac - yes sassafras- yes hawthorne- in town crab apple- in town black willow- the weeping willow cultivar would be in town, regular wild black willows in forests by the water Amber

Yes, it would!
Also, finished the fauna list, though you may suggest more and more to add~
Robins- common - prey Rabbits- common - prey Coyote- uncommon - predator Fox- common - predator. Vectors of disease, specifically rabies Badger- rare - predator if provoked Raccoons- common - hostile over food disputes, would try to eat kits. Vectors of disease, specifically rabies Possums- common - equal standing as cat, but young ones are prey Bluejays- uncommon - prey, but noticeably aggressive Cardinals- uncommon - prey Crows- common - can be eaten as prey, though they taste foul. A bold one might prey on unattended kits, and may provoke adult cats Skunk- common - usually at equal standing to a cat, but they may prey on unattended kits. Vectors of disease-- if a skunk bites a cat rather than sprays and runs, it likely is infected with diseases such as rabies Vole- uncommon - prey Mice- common - prey Squirrels- common - prey Chipmunk- common - prey Bats- uncommon, rare - prey (found in barns). Vectors of diseases like rabies White tail deer- common - not prey or predator, but they're dangerous if provoked Sparrows- common - prey Doves- common - prey Weasel- uncommon - could be hunted as prey, but they may fight back. May prey on unattended kits Copperheads- uncommon or rare - predator; very venomous snake, a bite would probably spell death for a cat Garter Snakes- common - prey, their bites are a pain but if there's no infection the cat won't die Frogs- common - prey Chickadees- uncommon - prey Black Widows- rare - not exactly prey or predator. Venomous bite will kill cats, though a few are lucky to be bitten dry, without venom Gophers- more common closer to humans - prey Groundhog- uncommon - not usually prey, as they are large and their bites hurt bad Salamanders- common at streams and creeks - prey Turkey Vultures- uncommon/rare - rarely they may prey on an isolated dying cat or lost kit. They prefer herbivore carrion Hawks- uncommon - predator, will take a small, isolated cat or unattended kit Owls- common - predator, will not hesitate to take an unattended kit, or isolated small cat. A bold one might even go for a lone warrior or elder Ravens- uncommon/rare - can be taken as prey, but they take foul. A bold one might take an unattended kit. Woodpecker- uncommon - prey

A bump! We need more people to join the RP!
|
|
|
Post by UB₀₁: 𝚂𝚢𝚖𝚋𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚝. on Sept 18, 2016 22:07:32 GMT -5
Again, calling all people who want high ranks-- this is the place!
I guess I'll write up the rules...
1. Obey all Forum Rules.
2. Treat everyone with respect. I can understand that IC the characters may hate each others' guts, but in OOC we're not going to fight. No bringing OOC drama on here.
3. When speaking in OOC, use (paranthesis), [brackets], or {braces}. If you have a post template with two distinctly labeled and separated sections for OOC and RP, then you are excluded from the rule.
3. No god-modding, power-playing, meta-gaming, spotlighting, or mary sues/gary stus.
4. Along the lines of mary sues/gary stus, I ask that you use realistic coat and eye colors, and don't give your cat any magical abilities. I know that the canon series has gone overboard with power cats, but we aren't having any of that here.
5. Along the lines of spotlighting, do not create prophecies or major natural disasters without consulting a higher-up in the RP. Small plots, such as a fox sighted on the territory or a bad thunderstorm are allowed, as long as there are no major character deaths. Major characters would be the leader, deputy, med cat, and med cat apprentice.
6. Along the lines of god-modding and power-playing, don't kill or cause irreversible injury to another RPer's character without having discussed it first.
8. Please note that I allow LGBT+ characters in RP. If you want to argue or slander or say mean things about the community and/or the RPers here, I ask that you just hit the back button and look elsewhere. The first code word is sassafras.
9. Please keep the gender ratios around equal. It would be awkward having 12 she-cats and 3 toms in one clan.
10. Don't go overboard with loners, rogues, and outdoor kittypets. Once I determine we have enough, I'll not allow any more.
11. All characters must have a flaw, whether it be a crippling fear, a negative personality trait, a physical weakness, or a dark past. Just don't be 2edgy4me.
12. Use proper grammar and punctuation in your posts. I expect at least 3 sentences every post. The second code word is cottontail.
13. No kit whatever-ing here.
14. If you have 1 high rank/major character cat, then you cannot have another.
15. You can make as many characters as you know you can manage.
16. When joining, use the joining form listed below.
-
[insert joining form here. there are 4 passwords: what number is repeated, what number is skipped, and then the 2 code words.]

Again, calling all people who want high ranks-- this is the place!I guess I'll write up the rules... - [insert joining form here. there are 4 passwords: what number is repeated, what number is skipped, and then the 2 code words.] This looks perfect! Sorry if I didn't do so well with the idea of the rules. Anyway, would i have to do all of the codes and such as well?

Amber Actually, I used your rules as a base then went from there cx As of now, I was actually planning on shouldering the coding aspect, since I think I'm fairly decent at it Here's a resume: (yes i know they're pastel pixels but I can do photos as well) ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ ❣ "Sed ut perspiciatis unde omnis iste natus error sit voluptatem accusantium doloremque laudantium, totam rem aperiam, eaque ipsa quae ab illo inventore veritatis et quasi architecto beatae vitae dicta sunt explicabo. Hello! This is a layout based on my adorable Sweetling, Lilco! ☉ ☉ ☉ ☉ ☉ ☉ ☉ ☉ O O C Heya, guess who made a new layout! Me! It's based on my adorable Antarean hatchling, Malleus! I used Lilco's template as a base, eheh...R P Alice was not a bit hurt, and she jumped up on to her feet in a moment: she looked up, but it was all dark overhead; before her was another long passage, and the White Rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it. There was not a moment to be lost: away went Alice like the wind, and was just in time to hear it say, as it turned a corner, 'Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!' She was close behind it when she turned the corner, but the Rabbit was no longer to be seen: she found herself in a long, low hall, which was lit up by a row of lamps hanging from the roof.

Is it alright if I create a name list? That would be perfect, actually!~ If I'm not done with coding by the time that's done, then perhaps compiling the non medicinal non dangerous plants into a list would be nice-- that is, if you want to do that. ^^

Thank you!~ It took a good while for me to get the coding done right, and I'm a sucker for perfection, so don't expect the layouts to be done, like, tonight or anything. ^^;
