So when you said "island" this is the first thing that came into my mind. Because I just want to share what my brain pictures look like. Don't feel like you have to use it, I'm just sharing for the fun of it. Red: sandbar, crosshatch is access at low tides Orange: cliffs Yellow: sand/beaches Green: forest Dark green: heavy forest Blue: water Purple: mountains, highlands; still lightly forested. Light pink: islands Dark pink: underwater rocks/reef The big dark purple thing would be the crater. The big blue dot is the old boat crash The little blue dot is our cats' boat.

Eheh >n<; I know this is really bad timing, but something's come up and I'm going to be busy for the rest of this evening. Sorry about that, guys. I should be able to devote a good chunk of time to this planning page tomorrow. For now I'll just give you my generic idea of the island so you can at least have something to go off of:
The island is pretty big, large enough to encompass a range of micro climates. A strip of beach runs around all the outer edges of the island, widening in some places and barely rising above the water in others. To the west is the largest expanse of beach, dotted with boulders and tidepools here and there. Palm trees line the edges. From there on, the trees thicken as the coastal climate gradually transitions to a more humid, jungle-type atmosphere. The majority of the island is covered in miles of jungle. Streams and rivers run through, sometimes connecting and ultimately running out to the sea. There could be some hot springs scattered about, and maybe a waterfall that is the source of the river and perhaps the campsite of the clan? Down south, the trees thin into a grassy meadow high atop bluffs. This area is wind-blasted and the farthest-out point of the island. It's generally chilly and unpleasant, but the meadow is a great place for finding small rodent prey and herbs with a smaller likelihood of being poisonous or harmful, like many of the plants in the jungle. Out to the east, the meadow rises into rugged foothills, and finally mountains. The tallest peak, towering at the far north of the island, is the volcano. Traveling back down the northwest coast, the mountains decline into treacherous cliffs with a narrow, rocky path to the beach. It is in this cove that the ship wrecked, and some of the hull still remains. The tide is rough here, but the cliffs are home to many nesting seabirds, so it can be a prey-rich place to hunt if you're brave - or stupid - enough to venture there.
So, that's kind of an overall description of the island. The rest is still yet to be discovered through roleplay. Most of the island is uncharted. Feel free to edit this however you want. Go ahead and keep working on territory, traditions, whatever else you need, I'll catch up tomorrow. c;

Wow that's actually really similar to what I had in mind too, only I saw the north as the higher land and the south as more beaches. Yours is more realistic, if we think about sun and wind, actually. xD
And I just looked through the ranking system, and I love the ranks. It makes a lot of sense, and competing for positions makes it all the more interesting. On the subject of warriors not having much to fight, there would be lots of natural predators on the island even if there weren't any cats. Snakes, wild boar, foxes/coyotes and even maybe a few large cats in the mountain areas. We could even extend reality a bit and give the island some huge birds, such as eagles or osprey, who would definitely be able to take on a few cats.

Those are super close in comparison, I'm shocked. xD I really like both of your ideas; I think we can combine them and get it to work well o3o
Definitely; the Warriors would fight predators too then.

I honestly don't know what to do at this point, so I'll just sit around until other ideas are proposed and then I'll violently love them all

Since we kinda have an idea for the territory, we could come up with landmark names? o3o Sorry, I poofed~

Sure~ Just throw em and I'll start marking em on the temp map thingy.

Alright :-D
I'm thinking the island could be named after the clan. As for the place where the mountain cats live, we could call it "The Crater" maybe?

Creative. xDDDD But yeah,

I'm not the best with naming landmarks. xDD With the island being exotic, I'm going to say our forest is a tropical rainforest. Rain would be heavy and plenty, especially in the more dense part of the forest.

That works. And it's a different environment for rping. Especially with the medicines, as there wouldn't be any human plants/flowers.

We could create our own herb list, but keep it mostly to the basics? Sorry, I'm researching things for the forest o3o maybe it'll give me some ideas ~

Brownie : Ooh, I like your map thingie o: I think we should definitely combine some elements from both of our ideas. I'm glad we were on a similar page c:
Woo, landmarks, huh? I'm usually decent at landmarks... I was helping someone else with an island-themed roleplay a few months back, and I had my own island cat roleplay on one of my old accounts. They're back on the old wcf. Maybe I could dive back into the fray over there and see if I can recycle some old ideas, if I can find them. Aside from that, I'm pretty braindead atm. =^= So, you take the wheel for now, Sand.

Ooh, that'd be helpful, Peri! Let me know what you think as I work along. I had a Hawaiian Clan once, I could try and dig that up too.
I'm kinda going off of Borneo for some things o-o

It took quite a bit of searching, but I was able to find my old island tribe thing. I wasn't impressed with what I saw. The whole thing's basically crap, but that's probably because it was entirely self-created. ha ^^;;
But I did find some native herbs that might be helpful to include o: I originally sourced them from a website listing the medicinal qualities of Hawaiian plants, so they should be pretty ligit. Up to you if you want to use them, as their names are quite the mouthful.
Kamole-lau-nui ;; seeds are used for small cuts and scratches 'Ilie'e;; leaves and stems used to reduce swelling of sores Kuawa ;; buds are used for deep cuts and sprains 'Aka'akai'mahina ;; bulb is used for sore throats Hala-pepe ;; buds and/or bark used for chills, fever, and lung trouble Pua-pilo ;; entire plant is used for broken bones Mai'a-lele ;; bud and/or flowers used for weakness Mai'a-iho-lena ;; roots and/or shoots used for stomach disorders Mai'a-popo-'ulu ;; roots and/or shoots used for asthma or chest ailments 'Ohi'a-apane ;; flowers used to aid childbirth Kamanamana ;; leaves used to reduce fever 'Oha-wai-nui ;; sap from shrub restores milk when milk is not flowing (similar to borage) Leko-'ele-'ele ;; entire plant used for common head colds (also helps sore throat) Ko'oko'olau ;; flowers stimulate appitite (also helps with general weakness)

Those are great! Do we want to loosely base the clan of something Hawaiian or islands near South Asia?

Sure! We could also do Polynesian, or some of those uninhabited islands of the coast of Central America/Mexico? If you like ~
Hm, what if the island was once inhabited by indigenous peoples? They'd all have died long before the shipwrecked cats washed up under mysterious circumstances (maybe for angering the Guardian?) and the only thing that points to their existence is an abandoned collection of crumbling, overgrown ruins that might resemble a temple or shrine of some sort. The cats might stumble upon the occasional human bone/skeleton, an arrowhead, or perhaps an ancient battlefield or burial ground. Just to add a little interest to the island. It has its own history that the cats don't know about...

I forgot about those; which do you prefer? I really like that! Do you think the cats would discover it over time or would it be something hidden?

Liking the new ideas, and those plants are epic. Good digging, there.
Old ruins would be fantastic. Maybe somewhere in the deep jungle, so the cats don't really have an excuse to get there all the time?

It'd be great if they were hidden in the deep on the jungle owo'

Perhaps some presently uninhabited island off the coast of Central America? That would explain the ruins. You could stretch reality a little bit and say they're Aztec/Mayan ruins undiscovered and untouched by modern archaeologists.
Yeah, they should be hidden deep in the jungle somewhere. Some cats could just stumble upon it one day while exploring or something; I think exploration patrols would be a part of day-to-day life for these cats. The more they can learn about this island, the better to survive.

Okay c: I'm still on the forums, but I'm extremely poofy as I'm watching the Olympics, so I probably won't be good for much more brainstorming tonight. I'm going to busy the rest of the weekend, too, just so you're aware.
