This chick wasn't serious, was she? Winter stared at her with a raised eyebrow, trying to gage her sanity. Escape had been something he tried, several times. Most of the times he got found and dragged back to whatever shelter had room for him to stay in until things got sorted out. Those attempts actually messed a lot of things up, along with several other poorly thought out decisions. So a break out would not be the best thing for him to do. "No," He repeated. "Your parents are shit, I'll admit that, but why do I have to go through the trouble of escaping? I tell Tim how they really are, he'll pull me out of here in a heart beat. I can leave without it ruining my record. I don't really care what you do."
"Just be sure to go put on a couple layers of clothes so you don't freeze," Anya adviced.
~•~•~
Parker followed and stopped beside Sol as they rounded a corner and came upon the doors. His nerves sparked to life again, no matter how much he willed it to go away. "Not in the slightest," He answered in a cheerful manner, "but I'd rather embarrass myself now in private than later tonight."

"Okay!" Aidan quickly finished his hot chocolate, then hopped diwn and ran back to his bedroom. Hero chased him briefly, his big paws thumping and the ice still in his mouth. Once Aidan was in his room, Hero came galloping back to Seth. His ice was barely bigger than a golf ball now, but Seth kicked it again anyway.
☆~☆~☆ "You'll be fine," Sol assured him, kissing him once more. "Just be yourself." Abd then he stepped forward and opened the door.
The room was large. It was lit by the windows lining the back wall, and warmed by the fireplace on the left. Three high-backed chairs sat on a plush rug before the fire. On the opposite side of the room from the fire was what could almost pass for a regular sitting room set-up. Sure, the furniture was bigger and of far better quality, but the attempt to recreate "normal" was clear.
In the center of the room was a dining table set for six. This was where the royal family waited. Well, some of them. Sol was not surprised to see that Jupiter and the king were absent. Whether or not they would show up at all was the question.
"Sol!"
Thoughts of the father and brother he hadn't wanted vanished as two of the people seated at the table jumped up and ran toward him. There was no hiding the smile as he opened his arms and braced himself just before the two teenagers crashed into him. Sol grunted with the force of it but had to laugh. "Gods, you guys get better at that every year. Who have you been practicing with?"
The girl let him go and tossed her long hair over her shoulder. "No one," she said proudly. "We're just naturally gifted."
Sol chuckled. "You're something, all right."
If she heard him, she gave no sign of it. Her eyes lit on one of the dogs at his side. "Artemis!" She went onto her knees and took the black face in her hands. "How have you been, you beautiful girl?" Artemis licked her nose, tail wagging like crazy.
The boy, meanwhile, was fending off Apollo as the big white dog tried to wrestle him to the ground. He was laughing, and after a valiant effort, he fell dramatically to the ground and under the onslaught of Apollo's kisses.
Sol looked from one kid to the other. "Typical. You kids just love me for my dogs."
"That's not true!" the boy said.
At the sane time, his sister chirped, "Yep!"
"Hm," Sol grunted, trying and failing to look stern.
"Solaris."
Sol looked up, some of his merriment fading as the third and final person rose from the table and approached. "Mother."
The queen was dressed in a gown of royal blue, her dark hair coiled upon her head. Her face was younger than her years, her dark eyes older as she looked upon her eldest son. A frown marred her brow. "How many times have I asked you not to bring your animals to family functions?"
Sol resisted the almost overwhelming urge to roll his eyes. No one brought out his inner teenager better than Lyria Arkain. "I would imagine the same number of times I have told you that they are family."
The queen was clearly not pleased with that answer. She turned her attention to her other children. "Kylo. Cleo. Get off the floor this instant."
The boy scrambled quickly to his feet, eyes downcast and cheeks flushed. The girl kissed Artemis's nose, stood straight, and met her mother's eyes with chin raised.
The queen tsked. "Now, Solaris. Why don't you introduce us to your guest?"
Both kids looked around in surprise, noticing Parker for the first time. Kylo became even more embarrassed, while Cleo looked Parker over with bold and unabashed curiosity.
Sol encouraged Parker to step up beside him. "Mother. Cleo. Kylo. This is Parker Dorreh." He paused, and looked right as his mother. "My boyfriend."

She soon went up to a backpack that was empty and she tossed it at him “You know nothing about my family…my mother is kind my father….is a parasite and I need your help getting her away from him. So grab things you need and we will head to the town nearby” she said as she threw a bag full of money at him “that is an order, not a request Jayce Winters.” She soon walked out leaving the door open and heading to the gym they had, working out as much as she can before lunch.

As Aidan ran off to get dressed, Anya turned her attention back to Seth. "I don't want you going alone," she murmured. "I want to go too, but I don't want to leave Aidan behind. So see if they'll let Morgan help, even if he just stays on stand-by in case you need help."
~*~*~
The kiss helped steel his nerves for a moment, long enough for Parker to take a steadying breath and give a nod. He waited as Sol opened the door before following him inside.
The room itself was stunning. If Parker thought the hallways was elegant and richly decorated, the room had them beat a hundred fold. One chair alone could easily buy a house, he was sure of it. Yet there were many perfectly placed all around the room. There was so much to take in that he barely had time to take in the people sitting at the table before two of them came bounding over to Sol.
Parker gladly halted a few feet behind Sol, letting him have a moment with who could only be is siblings. The twins he had so fondly talked about before. Seeing their boisterous reaction of seeing their brother again brought some familiarity to the situation. They weren't princes or princessess, but rather family who hadn't seen each other in far too long. Just like how his own family reacted upon his return home. A faint smile tugged his lips upwards as he watched the interaction, yet it disappeared as soon as his mother approached.
He knew there was no avoiding introductions. Otherwise, what would have been the point of coming? Yet being face to face with not only his lover's mother, but queen of the realm, had his palms sweating and his mouth going dry. Sol introducing him as his boyfriend didn't help either. Luckily, as he stepped forward a bit, he bowed deeply at the waist and was able to hide the slight flustered blush that crept to his cheeks.
"Your Majesty," Parker greeted, trying to pronounce each word so his accent wouldn't mumble them together, "it's an honor to meet you and your family, and I hope you do not mind my being here."
(I'm going stop right here for a moment. Now, I'm all up for the idea of them dealing with a dysfunctional family and wanting to do something to not only help themselves, but Honey as well. However, the timing of it is completely off. For starters, Winter, at this point, has no connection to these people whatsoever. He is not there because he wants to be, but because he has to. He has no interest in the family, and has seen nothing that really makes him sympathetic towards this cause. Yes, he can tell that Strawberry's parents aren't the best, can tell that her father is a bit on the aggressive side, but he has seen no evidence of anything going on to make him think he's dispicable. He has seen no other mistreatment first hand other than some angry remarks towards Strawberry, and has seen no violence displayed towards Honey.
There is also no need for him to help. After all, one call to his social worker, and he can get pulled from the home and have the authorities investigate them, do whatever they do, and be done with it. He is a bit sympathetic towards Strawberry for how she was viewed by her parents, but he still doesn't care about her at this point. And her forcing him into this, demanding that he help, even if it's Blackberry doing it (for he doesn't understand DID himself, so to him this is the same person), is not winning him over to her cause. Especially not when he has stuff in his past that is going to heavily influence his discisions. He's not going to just risk his last few months of being in the foster system on some improptu plan by a girl he just met and doesn't like.
Now, as I've said, I do like the idea of them doing this. I think it would be a very interesting plot arch that they work towards. However, there has to be character work and story developement first. We cannot just jump straight into this kind of action when there are many things that have to be put into place first. There are so many complex characters we're working with, as well as complex back stories and pre-existing details that are and will be important for this plan, but we need time to get to know all of that before diving in. Because right now, Winter knows nothing about this family and he is losing interest in finding out. There's enough red flags everywhere that he's just going to remove himself from the situation as quickly as possible and not get dragged into it. He's not an easy character to break the ice with, as I've mentioned before, but there are ways to do it. This is not one of those ways. And I am not going to change his reactions or personality or way of thinking just for the sake of drama.)

Seth looked up at her, genuinely confused. "Help with what?"
☆~☆~☆ Queen Lyria looked from her son to Parker and back. Without acknowledging Parker at all, she said tightly to Sol, "May I speak with you a moment? Alone?"
Jaw clenched, Sol nodded. The queen turned and swept to the far side of the room and through a set of glass balcony doors. Before following, Sol said, "Cleo, Kylo. Make Parker feel welcome, will you? Artemis, Apollo, wait here."
"Oh, absolutely." As Sol stalked after his mother, Cleo took Parker’s arm and steered him toward the table. "Soooo," she said, green eyes gleaming. "You're Parker."

"Finding Arianna," Anya answered, gesturing to his outfit. "I figured you would be going, if only to make sure she wasn't hurt."
~*~*~
Parker held the bow, tensely waiting for the queen's response. When he got none, his stomach seemed to both twist into knots and plummet at the same time. Why was he surprised? Of course, Sol's mother wouldn't approve of him. Half of him wanted to just turn around and walk out of room when he straightened up. However, he didn't get the chance. Instead, his arm had been seized by Cleo, and he was being dragged towards the table. "Uh, yes," he said, a bit stunned. "Yes, I am." It was lame, he knew, but his brain wasn't working as fast as it should to keep up with the situation.

Seth glanced at her, smiling a little. "I think I can manage that."
( He knows better than to assume that, even if his mind did originally go there. xD )
☆~☆~☆ Cleo's jaw dropped dramatically. "Four? And I thought two was—"
The patio doors opened, and the queen came gliding in. An irritated looking Sol followed. Kylo quickly got up and took a seat, while Cleo straightened up in hers, hands in her lap.
Lyria stopped at the head of the table and smiled a bright, fake smile. "Let's eat!" she declared. She clapped her hands once, and a door opened across the room as a handful of servants entered, each carrying a covered plate.
Sol came and sat beside Parker, earning a look from his mother that he ignored.

(But he still thought about it, if only for a fleeting moment to tell himself not to think about it. XD)
"Good. Because until you have to leave, you're spending every moment you can with us," Anya said. She kissed his cheek once more before taking her plate and cup to the sink. "Now finish your food, or you're not leaving."
~•~•~
As the doors opened, Parker unconsciously straightened in his own seat, the brief moment of respite Cleo offered vanishing completely. He watched Sol and the queen walk back to the table, noting the expression his boyfriend wore. Whatever they talked about, it hadn't been great. There was no surprise that he wasn't acknowledged again before the food was brought out. In a way, Parker was glad for that. The food would hold everyone's attention for a few moments at least. When Sol sat down next to him, he moved his foot so it was next to his, offering what comfort he could without bringing any unwanted attention to them so soon into the meal.

( Hey, he may have the patience of a saint, but he is not a monk. xD )
Seth just watched her, forgetting, for a moment, that he had anywhere to go at all.
And then Aidan returned, bundled up in all his snow gear. "I'm ready!" he called excitedly.
Seth blinked. He looked over at the boy, then down at his food. He stared at it a second, then picked it up and took a bite.
☆~☆~☆ Once the food had been delivered and the servants cleared out, Lyria looked directly at Parker for the first time and spoke. "So, Peter—"
Sol slapped the table, making everyone and the cutlery jump. "Do not start, Mother."
Lyria shot Sol a look that actually made her look more like a mother than a queen. He just stared back. She turned back to Parker and brought forth a smile. "My apologies, Parker," she said, proving Sol's point. "Why don't you tell us about yourself? How did you and my son meet?"

(I should hope not. XD)
"Give me a second to change, and we'll head out," Anya called, setting her dishes in the sink. She would wash them later. "Make sure Seth finishes breakfast for me," she added playfully as she walked by, ruffling his hair.
~•~•~
Parker had to steel himself not to flinch, both when Lyria misspoke his name and when Sol reprimanded her. He shouldn't have come, at least not to breakfast. Sol could have ate, caught up, and quickly excused himself on his own. Now he had to deal with the additional annoyance of his mother's dislike and disapproval of him.
As the question was given, Parker glanced Sol a brief glance, not really sure how to explain it without making her opinion of them worse. Then he meet the queen's gaze and took a steadying breath. "We met at sea, actually," he replied. It was an answer that needed elaboration, but he was just hoping to gage her reaction before figured out how to phrase the events that transpired.

"Yay!" Aidan jumped down abd ran fir the door. Star and Hero followed, wagging their tails like crazy as they picked up on the boy's excitement.
Seth leaned back against the counter, hands braved on either side of his hips. He was watching Aidan with a smile, but the expression didn't quite reach his eyes.
☆~☆~☆ "Wrong place, right time," Sol corrected.
Lyria turned her skeptical look on her son. "Oh? How so?"
"If he had been there at any other time, I wouldn't have been close enough to help."
"And just what, exactly, happened?"
"Nothing you need to worry about, Your Majesty."
His tone had Lyria sitting up even straighter, her expression cooling. But all she did was force a smile. "Good. I'm so glad to hear my eldest son is doing such a good job keeping our lands and seas safe."
Sol snorted. "Right," he muttered. "Because that was your idea."
"What was that, dear?"
"Nothing, Mother."
"Don't toll your eyes. It's rude."
Sol had to close his eyes to resist rolling them again.

Anya smiled and just stood there with him a moment more. As much as she would have loved to keep him there, she could hear Aidan and the dogs by the door, ready to go. So she gave him another kiss. "Be careful," she said, backing away but letting her hands keep contact with him as long as she could until she could no longer reach him.
~•~•~
(Of course not. Where's the fun in that? XD)
Parker lightly kicked Sol's boot under the table. Feelings of dislike aside, she was his mother, and the clear act of talking specifically just to annoy her didn't sit right with him. Of course, he didn't agree with the queen's opinions either, but he wasn't about to be rude about it. "I'm sure all mothers have that opinion of saliors," he said, trying to smooth it over. "It is a rough and rugged world they navigate, after all. Living out on ocean away from the convinces of the mainland and all. They don't really have as many options of what they have as others."

"Morgan!" Aidan declared. He threw open the door and dashed out, shouting, "Bye, Seth!" as he started running down the hall toward Morgan's room.
Seth didn't respond, too busy losing the fight to stay put. "Anya," he said, just before she could leave the room. He stepped away from thd counter, and then he was right in front of her, stepping through a pocket dimension so smoothly it was done in a blink. He placed his hands on her cheeks and leaned in to kiss her, holding nothing back.
☆~☆~☆ "Thrn clearly she is ignorant to the dangers out there," Lyria said.

Anya was surprised by this, stunned by the intensity of which he kissed her. She didn't pull away, but her hands did fumble as she grabbed hold of his shirt, as if it would help keep her from being completely swept away.
~•~•~
It was one thing to insult him, and a whole other thing to insult his mother. Parker bristled at the comment, the need for politeness barely staying present. "My mother is a lot of things, but she is not ignorant," he said, keeping his voice even even though his temper was sparked. "She's heard first hand of the dangers I've encountered, but she also knows that she cannot control what I do with my life. She cared for my happiness more than her fear, the same as when she had to let my sister leave to be a Dragon Rider. And she would not once shame me for such a decision."
