Sol shot him a look. "Ship wrecking is not an option," he said, protective of his ship as he was for little else. "And getting lost is next to impossible while we're sailing Alegäsia's coast. I could navigate these waters with my eyes closed. We would have to sail elsewhere first, and then leave the helm in your hands to get us lost. And like you said, now isn't the best time for that."

Seth stayed quiet, though continued offering silent comfort. Her words reminding him of something — someone — he hadn't thought about in a long time. On a normal day, Seth himself might have had the power to try such a spell, despite not being very proficient in such magics. But after the last few days of traveling back and forth to all those far off places to look for Parker and the man running the human trafficking (whose name I can't remember 😅), Seth was pretty drained of magic. It could take days before he had the power to try a tracking spell, and he wasn't willing to wait that long, not when it may not work. He just didn't have the skill.
But he might know someone who did.
Question was: did he tell Anya that? If this idea panned out, then of course she should know about it. But what if it didn't work? Anya had faced enough disappointment lately. The last thing Seth wanted was for her to get her hopes up only to have them dashed again. Seth decided to sit on this idea for a little bit. He didn't even know for sure if his friend would help anyway. Seth figured he could figure out the answer to that before he decided whether or not to speak to Anya about this.

"There is no such thing as a stupid question," Morgan stated loftily. "Besides, you didn't reorganize the food rations, so why are we even arguing about it?" Never mind that he was the one who started it. "If you have to fly with me," he said, switching topics, "then we can only carry one more of the Veras. Which one?" This was probably a question he could ask the Veras themselves, but he was curious about what Kyra's answer would be.

"You're underestimating my abilities," Parker stated with a laugh. "But, fine, I won't do anything you don't approve of first." As if he was planning to do anything not approved of in the first place.

(*cough*Klaus*cough* XD )
After a few more minutes, Anya finally calmed back down. When she was back to a normal state, she pulled away from Seth. Had they been alone, she might have stayed, but she remembered that Aidan was there as well, and, with a quick glance, noticed he had been startled with her outburst. Reaching up, she used one hand to dry her face while the other let the book softly back down onto her lap. "How long did it take you to finish this?" she asked.
~*~*~
(Kyra: -_- )
Him pointing out that she hadn't actually reorganized the food didn't help her like him any more in this moment. "Shut up," she muttered, not even wanting to waste anymore energy on the pointless topic. "Either Cami or Cressida, preferably. If I have to ride with Callum, he may end up with a dagger in him yet. Do feel free to pass that only to his family to help them sway their decision as to which one will be accompanying us on Kyon."

"Good." Sol smiled slightly as he continued watching the sky. After a moment he said quietly, "There you are." A second later a bird shrieked, and then came plummeting toward them. Sol held out one arm for the hawk to land on. "Where have you been?" he asked her. He reached up with his free hand to ruffle her feathers, only to pull them back with a chuckle when she threatened to bite him.
~ • ~ • ~ ( Thank you. xD )
Seth was distracted enough by his thoughts that he was a little surprised when Anya sat up, but he didn't try to stop her. He followed her gaze to Aidan, who was busying himself by ripping up grass and flowers to lay over Star, who was stretched out beside him taking a nap. He hid a smile and turned back to Anya. "Three days," he said. Three days of drawing almost nonstop, every spare moment he got. It was a miracle it all looked as good as it did, considering it was all a rush job.
~ • ~ • ~ ( 😎 )
Morgan smirked, unsurprised by that answer. "Right. I'll be sure to do that." He became a bit more serious. "Cami would probably be best anyway. She's the lightest, and while carrying three people kinda makes it moot, the lighter Kyon's load, the better." His dragon had been doing an awful lot of heavy lifting lately.

He heard Sol muttering, but couldn't determine what was said. A few moments later, however, he had another set of questions were brought up. "You have a hawk?" he asked. Of course, there had been a hawk when the Comet rescued them from the slaver ship, but he had forgotten about it since he hadn't really been alert as he should have been that day.
~*~*~
"Three days?" Anya asked. "There's no way you got all of this done in three days. There's so much detail in the pages."

Kyra nodded to his suggestion to which Vera woman rode with them, but otherwise said nothing else while they made their way to the dragons.
Shara hadn't moved during the night. She was used to lying in wait, undercover, for many missions. When they drew near, she raised her head and turned to look in their direction. Good morning, she greeted them.

Before Sol could say anything in response, the hawk turned toward Parker and shrieked angrily at him with wings spread and feathers puffed up, making her look twice as big. Sol tapped her beak in reprimand, making her shriek again. "Quit that. You came here of your own accord. That means you gave to deal with us lowly humans." The bird ruffled her feathers and looked away, the action indignant and petulant. Sol rolled his eyes and finally turned to Parker.
"Technically I have two hawks, though I wouldn't consider either a pet, not like the dogs. But I did raise them, so while they mostly live wild, they visit me from time to time. This one does so less often than her sister. That's why she's not as well socialized."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth smirked slightly. "Yes, well. I may have sacrificed a bit of sleep to do that." And by a bit, he really meant a lot. But it was worth it.
~ • ~ • ~ Morgan gave the female dragon a salute. "Morning," he returned grandly before turning to Kyon. The golden dragon was still sleeping, but he woke up when Morgan ran a hand over his snout. The smile he gave his own dragon was more genuine and affectionate than the one Shara had recieved. "Good morning, sleepy head."

Parker eyed the bird a little warily as it puffed itself out and shrieked at him. While he wasn't scared of animals, that didn't mean he ignored the warning signs of aggression. "I didn't think hawks would fly this far from land," he said. "How do they know when you're around?"
~•~•~
"You didn't have to do that," Anya said, he fingers idly gliding over the cover page gently. A part of her waited to open it back up, to inspect the comics and portraits closer, but she feared she'd start crying again if she did. So she decided to wait until later.
~•~•~
While Morgan went to Kyon, Kyra walked over to Shara's saddle and began unload the rations. Granted, there wasn't a lot of rations to begin with. This was supposed to have been a short mission to get the Veras settled into the safe house with everything they need, and return to camp. The supplies pack were enough for a large group for two days max. They were packed into two smaller bags that could be carried by people I case the dragons couldn't follow. She grabbed one and tossed it over towards Kyon. "Put that with your stuff," she said while she grabbed the second bag.

Sol snorted. "Hell if I know. They just do." He lifted his hand again, in offer this time. The hawk eyed it fiercely for a moment, then pointedly turned away and pretended to ignore him. Smirking, Sol lightly ran his fingers over her head and down her back. Her puffed up slightly, but she didn't otherwise acknowledge his attention. "Hawks can fly very far," he said after a minute. "Especially mine. They don't stay in any one territory for very long like most hawks. I don't know if that's a byproduct of being raised by a human, or just a personal preference. But they've been seen traveling all across the west coast when I'm not around."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth watched her with the little booklet for a minute, smiling faintly. "Yes I did," he said softly. He looked away, catching sight of Aidan. "So, what should we do now?" he asked. He glanced at Anya, including her in the question.
"I wanna go fly!" Aidan turned from Star, grinning and bright-eyed with excitement. "Please, please, please?"
Seth hesitated. He knew Stel was game for a flight, but he didn't want to load everybody into the saddle until they were ready to head back to town. And he didn't really want to go back yet. So, instead of answering, he turned to Anya to hear her opinion. Today was all about her, after all. Whatever she wanted, she'd get. Even if she wasn't aware of that fact.
~ • ~ • ~ Morgan was lounging on Kyon's foot as if was a lavish chaise lounge, his hands tucked behind his head as he watched some clouds move across the sky. His thoughts were completely open to Kyon, but they shared only the occasional word. Their bond was strong enough that words often weren't necessary. Morgan was preoccupied enough by his wordless conversation that he almost jumped when the bag landed nearby. Only his training kept him still.
He sat up and looked from the bag to Kyra. "I thought we were eating it. The food, not the bag." Even as he spoke, he dragged the bag closer and started looking through it curiously.

Sol lowered his hand but lifted his arm, encouraging her to switch to his shoulder. She gave an irritated squawk before doing as asked. She immediately started preening her feathers, once more pretending to ignore him.
Sol left her to it and turned his gaze to Parker. "Because we made quite the sight everywhere we went, back before they knew how to fly. Mostly, I just know because they have found me all up and down the coast."
~ • ~ • ~ Aidan became ven more excited. "Ooooh, can we swim there? I haven't gone swimming in forever."
Seth sighed, but he wasn't really annoyed. He would love to go flying, and swimming, if it was really an option. His only concern was Star. She hadn't been a bad flier, but it was obvious she hadn't really liked it. Looking at her, though, he thought she would have liked being left at home even less. She had sat up onto her belly when Aidan started getting excited, and she looked ready to follow him wherever he wanted to go.
~ • ~ • ~ Morgan tilted his head back and forth in a sort-of nod. It made sense, and made him realize again just how much she had changed. She had always been bossy and a natural leader — and often butting heads with Seth because of it, since he too was more leader than follower — but she hadn't been quite so... organized and level-headed. It wasn't a bad thing. It was just... different.
He pulled out everything that looked good and switched it to the other bag. Then he stood up and hopped up onto Kyon's back to pack the rest away. He gave Kyon a good scratch before sliding to the ground again. "Alright, let's cook."

Parker nodded to the explanation, a small smile tilting his lips upwards. "Well, you certainly look a lot better with a hawk on your shoulder than a parrot," he commented.
~•~•~
Lucky, Anya could help with that. He laughed softly. "No, I'm afraid we can't swim there," she told him. "It plunges down the mountain side for at least a couple hundred feet, and the river where it lands is far too rocky and unsafe. We can, however, go swimming when we get back to the farm if you want."
~•~•~
She never thought she'd be the organized type either, but time with the Rebels had engrained the need for it. Kyra could still remember how much of a mess her room had been back home. Well, it was her "organized chaos," but to everyone else, it was messy. However, now, not only was her tent in much better arrangement, but her planning and plans of operations were much more neat and in order as well.
The woman waited for Morgan to get down securing the rations bag to Kyon's saddle. When he jumped to the ground, she nodded and shouldered the bag she had and turned one her heels, heading back to the house.

Sol rolled his eyes. "So I've been told," he said dryly. He shook his head as if exasperated, but he was smiling. He had gotten many comments and questions about his hawks over the years, something he didn't usually have the patience for. But Sol found he wasn't annoyed by Parker's questions. There was something new and refreshing about him that just wasn't there when passerby on the street stopped him to ask inane questions.
~ • ~ • ~ While Aidan look momentarily disappointed by her description of the waterfall, Seth looked intrigued. "Has anyone ever checked for hidden caves?" he asked.
Thay idea brightened Aidan right up. "Oooooh... that would be so cool. Can we go check? Please, please, please?"
~ • ~ • ~ Morgan nearly stepped forward to take the bag from her, but stopped himself. Most woman would see the gesture as polite and gentlemanly. Kyra would see it as him doubting her strength. The bag couldn't have been that heavy, but if there was one thing about Kyra that he had noticed hadn't changed, it was her fierce independence and desire (and ability) to take care of herself. He trailed her back to the house without a word.

"So what's her name?" Parker asked. He had been waiting to see if Sol would provide it for him, but when he didn't, he took it upon himself to ask.
~•~•~
"Of course you'd ask that," Anya said with a laugh. "As far as I know, no one has checked for caves it's on the other side of the ridge, so most people don't know it's there. It's also difficult to climb, but there might be caves."

Kyra had never liked to depend on anyone. Her sister had made like caring for her had been the heaviest burden in the world, so she had been determined from a very young age to prove to her sister she had nothing to complain about. She uncared for herself, provided herself necessities, and all the stuff. By now it was second nature to just do something on her own instead of wait and ask someone to help.
The walk back to the house was silent, at least on Krya's end. She offered no small talk, no plan details, nothing. She was just focused on getting to the kitchen and making what little breakfast they could. Then they could just leave.

(XD It's fine.)
"Fury?" Parker repeated with a chuckle. "Just how bad was she to raise to earn that name?"
~*~*~
Laughing, Anya watched Aidan race for Stel. "Just don't go plunging us into the waterfall," she told Seth. "It's not as big as your little hideout, but I still don't want to go hitting the mountain side for the sake of exploration."
~*~*~
Making it back to the kitchen, Kyra walked in on Ian as he was preparing a cup of coffee. "Where'd that come from?" she asked, placing the bag on the table.
"My personal stash," Ian said, grinning. He held out a mug he had just filled. "Want some?"
Kyra crinkled her nose in disgust. Coffee was something she had never acquired a taste for. No matter what she added to it, it just still tasted too bitter. "I'd rather drink mud," she answered and unpacked the rations.
"A shame. You sound like you could use a cup, or five," Ian teased, rewarded with an irritated glance from the woman. Then he offered the cup to Morgan. "How about you? Fancy a cup? I've got plenty to spare."

Sol held up his hands so Parker could see the scattering of little scars covering them, from his fingertips to his wrists. Most were small and faded enough to be difficult to see, but not all. Some could also be blamed on blade practice, not talons or beaks, but the point was made. "Pretty bad," he said rather pleasantly. He lowered his hands. "But her brother was worse. I called him Wrath, because he was always mad at something or someone. Once he knew how to fly and hunt, he took off one day and never looked back. That's actually what I expected of all of them, and Fury and her sister did each leave eventually too. Only they came back. Not to stay, exactly, but they both come around often enough that I've given up on saying they aren't mine."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth scoffed. "Of course not. I don't go diving blindly into waterfalls. Well." He smiled wryly. "Not totally blind, anyway." He quickly packed everything — mostly garbage — into the picnic basket, then stood up. He offered Anya a hand to help pull her up too.
~ • ~ • ~ Morgan started pulling things out of the bag as soon as Kyra put it down. He could have told Ian Kyra's opinion on coffee, and felt more than a little smug when he correctly guessed her response. It was nice to know some things hadn't changed. He too shot Ian a look at his comment — true but tactless, and not something any guy should be telling the girl he liked. His expression shifted to surprise when Ian offered him coffee.
He blinked, but before he could answer, Cami swept into the kitchen. "I would love some," she said, batting her long lashes.
Morgan did a double take. Cami wasn't one to flirt just for the sake of flirting. Not that she was flirting now, exactly, but something was definitely afoot with her.

Parker glanced at the scattering of little scars on his hand and smiled. He and Anya both had similar Mark's from when Corrik was growing up. Not that he was mean or angry, but just that he didn't know how hard he could bite or scratch while playing. Like a puppy, he never meant harm, but until he learned control, they often got nicked. "And what's her sister's name? Revenge?" He asked, joking.
~•~•~
Anya took his offered hand and stood up. "Should I hand this to you to store, or should I put it in a saddle bag?" She asked, holding the book he made in her other hand.

Ian turned his attention to Cami the moment she walked in. His grin grew a little wider as he moved his hand so she could take it. "Than here you go. Fresh and piping hot," he said. "And there's plenty more where that came from."

Sol shook his head, smiling. "Victory," he corrected. "She was... well, I don't know if bird clutches have runts, but that's pretty much what she was. The youngest and the smallest, and that sometimes got her picked on by the other two. She never let it stop her, though. She may not have been the biggest or strongest, but she's definitely the smartest."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth glanced at the book. "It'll be safer in one of my pockets. No chance of it getting bent or wet there." Rather than take it from her, though, he gently took hold of her wrist and guided her hand, and the book, into a pocket. It looked as if their hands just disappeared, cut off at the wrist. But while they could see nothing, their hands touched what felt like a shelf. There was even other books there, lined up neatly. Seth guided Anya's hand until she could add her book to the collection before pulling both hands out. "There," he said softly. "Safe and sound."
~ • ~ • ~ Cami accepted the cup with a bright smile. "Thank you. I really appreciate it."
Morgan, watching with narrowed eyes, looked between them, trying to figure out Cami's game — and Ian's interest level. Cami wasn't his sister, but he had spent enough time around her growing up that he often felt brotherly. Even if he didn't, she was Seth's sister, and since Seth wasn't here to be the big brother, Morgan would take his place.
Or not. Callum entered the room then. Cami gave Ian one more smile before coming over to the table to survey what Morgan and Kyra had laid out. Callum shot her a curious look, but her back had been to him, so he hadn't seen the smile she gave Ian. He wasn't stupid, though, and knew something had happened just before he came in.

Parker smiled. "No, there can be runts. We've had a few chicks like that raised by our chickens. Some seemed smaller and picked on more by the others. She's lucky tou were raising them. If not, she might not have survived."
~•~•~
Anya thought he would take the book, but instead, he grabbed her wrist. Confused, she watched as he guided it to a spot in the air before their hands and book just disappeared. Having traveled through pocket dimensions before, she wasn't spooked, but she was surprised to feel a bookshelf waiting for her that she couldn't see. With Seth's help, she found an empty spot and placed her book in it. There'd be little chance if her remembering where it was if he let her get it herself later, but she knew it wasn't lost. The woman smiled and nodded. "Thanks," she said. "Now let's go before Aidan hijacks Stel and leaves us stranded."
~•~•~
Ian wasn't a stranger to flirting. He took and gave it whenever he had the chance. He, of course, wasn't really into Cami all that much, but who was he to turn down her attention while he had it?
It ended as soon as Callum came into the room, but he didn't seemed phase. "Breakfast might not be much, and I do apologize for that, but we'll be sure to give you all a proper meal when we reach camp," Ian stated, pouring himself another cup of coffee. He glanced Cami's way and, while he was still talking to both siblings, seemed to focus on her as he added, "I'll personally see to it myself."

"Huh. Learn something new every day." Sol knew a lot about a lot of different subjects, but farming and chick rearing was not one of them. Well, not really. Raising three hawk chicks to adulthood was probably pretty different from raising chickens. "But I believe she would have survived, with or without me. She's Victory. She doesn't lose."
~ • ~ • ~ A glance at his dragon showed Stel still stretched out comfortably. Less obvious (to everyone but him, at least) was her amusement as Aidan tried to figure out the saddles leg straps. Seth smirked. "I think it's going to take a few more group flights before he figures out how." Because Stel would ditch them, if only for a few laughs, but only if Aidan was securely strapped in.
~ • ~ • ~ Callum may have missed the initial flirting, but he definitely caught the subtle way Ian was going about it now. His eyes narrowed, but he said nothing until he noticed the smile Cami gave Ian in response. "I'll look forward to it," she said sweetly.
"Cami," Callum interrupted. He waited until she looked at him before speaking again. "Where's Mom?"
"Upstairs. Why?" She eyed him suspiciously.
For good reason. "Would you go get her? We need to eat and get out of here."
She glared at him over her coffee cup as she took a slow sip. "Why can't you get her."
Callum didn't even pause. "Because Morgan and I are bringing your bags out to the dragons."
That was news to Morgan, but he kept that off his face as Cami glanced at him to confirm Callum's story. Finding no deceit, she sighed and put her cup down. "Fine. I'll be right back." The last was said mostly mostly to Ian as she swept from the room.
Callum waited until her footsteps reached the stairs before turning to head for the front door. "Come on, Morgan," he called.
Morgan blinked. Apparently, Callum hadn't been lying. He'd just roped Morgan into his ready made plans. With a shake of his head, Morgan followed Callum.

"I'll have to take your word for it, since she's not here to prove it," Parker said, though he had no doubt of the bird's will to live and survive. They were hardy birds, hawks. "Do you have any other pets? Wild fish? A dolphin perhaps?"

Anya laughed softly and rose to her feet. "Well, if we don't hurry, I'm sure we'll never hear the end of it," she said, turning and offering a hand out to help Seth up.

Ian could detect the distraction being given to Cami by her brother, but didn't do anything to stop it. They did need to eat, and, besides, it got him alone with Kyra.
"Didn't here you come in last night," he commented, taking a sip of his coffee. "Shara told me you had stormed off to where she and Kyon were, but that you left at sunset. Where'd you go?"
"Does it concern you?" Kyra asked. "Last I checked, I didn't have to get permission from you to do what I want."

(No, she really wouldn't. She's really only grumpy because he tried to bring up the whole "love" topic, which terrifies her, what with her fear of him leaving and out living her and whatnot. She had hoped to not deal with it until later, when she was well rested and not having to worry about being chased down by Genevieve. Had that not been brought up, she might have gotten more sleep because she'd be sharing a bed with him again.
Nah, we can skip. ^^ )

At the mention of his dogs, Sol looked down at his feet. Artemis was there, as close as she could be to him without being in the way. She was napping, but she would be up and ready for action at the smallest provocation from him. Apollo was also asleep a few feet away. He, too, could be up in a heartbeat, though the lounging position he was in suggested otherwise. "Yeah," he said, deadpan. "They're a real handful."
~ • ~ • ~ ( LOL. 🤣 Aye, aye! )
"Not that I agree with." Seth quickly folded up the blanket and put it and the basket in another pocket. Then he followed Anya to Stel. He let her climb up and get situated first, then picked up Star and followed.
~ • ~ • ~ ( Ahhh... the terrifying "L" word. Noted. xD
Okay. Shall we just skip to when they're arriving at the camp? )

Sol didn't doubt that Corrik had been a handful, and yet... "At least you only had one to focus all your attention on, plus there were two of you. Right from the start, everyone made sure I knew these dogs were my responsibility, and I had to constantly switch my attention between the two of them. And I was in training at the time myself. And on a ship, no less. You might think that would make dog training easier, since they have nothing to chase and nowhere to go. I soon learned that a bores puppy will always find something to do, and it's never anything they're allowed to do."
~ • ~ • ~ After handing off Star to Anya, Seth double checked Aidan's straps, then moved into position behind Anya. Stel got to her feet, eliciting an excited squeal from Aidan. She walked right to the edge of the cliff and spread her wings. Normally, she would have either launched upward, or slipped off and plunged straight down. But having a dog for a passenger made those options unwise (Seth's not being in the saddle dissuaded her as well, but to a lesser extent). Instead, she simple jumped off the ledge and started flying upward at any easy glide. It was probably the smoothest (and most boring) takeoff of her life.
~ • ~ • ~ ( I can't say I blame her. The other four letter words are more fun. xD
Haha, yeah, probably. xD Okay, who should start? )

Parker nodded in agreement, smiling in amusement. "The world is a puppy's chew toy," he said. "They'll find something to play with, even if they aren't supposed to have it."

(Poor Stel. XD)
It was funny to see Aidan's reaction to flying. Anya could remember the first time she had flown on Corrik. The black dragon had been eager to show her the way he saw the world, but she had been a little hesitant. It was mainly the height issue, and for the first few practice runs, she had been very nervous while flying. Of course, she grew to enjoy it, but it had taken some time. Aidan was the complete opposite. Sure, it might have been because he had flown before with his father, but still. His excitement level exceeded theirs greatly.

"Once you get past that part, though, they're not too bad. It's just a test of patience until then," Parker said, chuckling once more. "But look how good mannered they are now?"

(XD
It's fine. The water fall looks kind of like this. If you want, we can just skip until they get back home if you want. Or did you have something else in mind for the day?)
~*~*~
It took the entire day, and a couple of stops for lunch and to let the Veras stretch their legs a bit, but the group eventually returned to the Rebel camp. From the air, it simply looked like a long stretch of open meadow. And it would appear that way even on the ground as well. However, Kyra and Ian knew that it was a spell that kept the camp hidden from view, much like the one used by the Rider's who had tried to kidnap Morgan.
Through the whole flight, Kyra had remained quiet. Flying, while not the worst way to travel, wasn't the most comfortable either. She was used to it, but long hours on dragon back left her more sore and weary than travel by horse. So to keep her irritable behavior from becoming too much of a problem, she hadn't tried to talk. Not to mention it would have been hard to talk over the wind. Yet the closer they got to the camp base, she leaned closer to Morgan (she had been sure to get the seat directly behind him this time), and stated, "Land before we get too far over this spot," she told him. "The sooner the better. There camp's hidden, and the last thing we want is to crash through it and land in the middle of camp."

Sol smiled at that. "Yes. The result was definitely worth the effort." And he wasn't just talking about their training and behavior. The relationship he had built between each dog was stronger for the difficulties they faced during those early days.
~ • ~ • ~ ( Oooh, pretty. And no, not really. They just, what? Visited/explored all the places Anya knew from flight training with Corrik? As nice an outing as that would be, there isn't much need for role-play. Should we do them going swimming in the river by the Dorreh place? Or skip right to dinner/bed time? )
~ • ~ • ~ Morgan remained mostly quiet during the long flight as well, though occasionally he would make or engage in a conversation with Cami. She had been only a little put out about flying with Morgan and Kyon, and it had again made Morgan wonder about her sudden interest in Ian. Or was it sudden? She had spent a whole day in the man's company before Morgan, Kyra, and Callum joined them. Maybe something happened then to garner her attention. Whatever the case, Morgan had decided he would leave the big brother role to Callum, and just sit back and enjoy the show.
When the clearing appeared below, Morgan initially dismissed it, only to do a double take as he sensed something amiss about it. It wasn't anything physical; he saw nothing of interest with his eyes. Yet he detected something odd anyway, thanks to his magic (which had made a full recovery). He could sense life down there, much more than what the grass and trees and bushes would produce. That was human life he sensed, but try as he might, he couldn't see anyone.
He was so focused on finding the people hidden below that he almost didn't hear Kyra. Then he noticed how she had moved closer, and her words registered. He twisted in his seat to see her, even while mentally passing her message on to Kyon. As he started his descent, Morgan asked, "What kind of magic is hiding this place?" Whatever it was, it was powerful.

"Well, save for Artemis looking like she's ready to bite everyone's face off whenever you're not around," Parker added, completely joking. Sure, the dog was protective, but he hadn't actually seen her harm anyone on the crew.
~*~*~
(Yeah, pretty much. Since I'm tired and brain dead at the moment, I don't think I can come up and describe all those places, so we'll skip over that. XD And I say we just go to dinner/bed unless you know of any cute/interesting conversations/interactions they might have while out swimming.)

"I'm not entirely sure," Kyra responded. She wasn't educated in magic. Most non-Riders here didn't get taught magic unless they had an affinity for it to begin with. She was not one of those people, so she didn't waste her time trying to learn the basics when she wouldn't be able to understand how it works in the first place. "But it's stronger than a normal invisibility spell. It's fortified by at least four of our top commanders, all working together to try and make it as solid as they can. Plus there are look outs who, when spotting anyone in the skies or on foot, set up spells to alter memories, make people forget or overlook this place. Even our own Rider's will forget where the camp is if they're not paying attention well enough. That's why I'll tell you now to pick out landmarks at least 100 miles away from the camp in any direction to use as an indication you're close. Trying to always remember the meadow is tricky. Really, I think it's the memory altering spell that gives the concealment more success than anything."
