Quill grinned and didn't deny it. But he just nudged Parker with his elbow and nodded for him to follow. "This way. It's not far."
And it wasn't. A few minutes later, in an area where the docks area really started to merge with the rest if the town, was a small inn and tavern. The sign out front read Millie's Place. Two broad windows spread to either side of the door, showing a well-lit bar room that was already more than half full. Many inside were, as Quill had predicted, fellow members of the Comet's crew.
Quill led the way inside. The room wasn't clean by any standard, but it wasn't a filth den either. It was clearly well taken care of, but showing the wear and tear of a lot of messy patrons. They were hardly a foot past the door before they were hailed by the rest of the crew. Quill grinned wide as he headed to the back corner where they had gathered around a group of tables. Drinks were ordered for him and Parker, and delivered within moments of reaching the group.
~ • ~ • ~ Seth muttered another curse. Of course they had such an important job. Now he would have to be careful about what he did to them to get them to talk. To Elizabeth he said, "Great. Thank you for your help." Then he turned to Anya. "Would you like to come with me, or stay with Elizabeth?" He wanted her to stay, but he wasn't going to force her.
( He won't have to. Seth will just know. xD )

Parker followed closely behind, not wanting to get separated and lost. He was surprised at how quick the walk was. There was a brief moment upon entering the place where he had a brief moment of shock at the interior of the bar. Of course, it wasn't horrible. He could tell that most of the wear and tear was likely collected over the years, but the place was in good enough condition. However, he was too used to being in the Gilded Fox (I think that's what I called it. XD) with it's well maintained dining area and all the intricate details of the place.
He moved to tame a seat with the other crew members, taking the drink he had been ordered and giving a small, resting sip. He wasn't a reckless drinker. He knew how be got when he was drunk, and, like his sister, it didn't take much to get him that way. That wasn't a state he wanted to be in at the moment. Once he knew how strong of a drink he had, he took an actual swig of the stuff.
~•~•~
"I'm want to go," Anya replies, quickly rising from her seat. She wasn't going to sit around and wait while Seth found answers. She was too anxious for that.
"Just be careful," Elizabeth said. "I know you're Riders, but those two are the worst here that hate Riders. Although, I guess you already know this."

The next hour or so had the crew drinking casually and conversing among themselves, as well as with the locals who came by. Many they knew, but some proved to be potential new business partners. Those people were steered toward the more senior members of the crew.
By the second hour, more crew members began trickling in, and food was ordered — a lot of food. It was mostly finger foods, and it was spread out amongst the crew's several tables for everyone to enjoy.
The real party didn't start until about halfway through hour three, when the door opened and Sol strolled in. A cheer went up the moment he was spotted, earning a eye roll from him. He went first to the bar, where the woman who had been introduced at some point as Millie put a glass tumbler filled with amber liquid down for him. Sol gave her a generous tip as he took it and continued on toward his crew.
~ • ~ • ~ Seth nodded, unsurprised, and placed a reassuring hand on her back. He glanced at Elizabeth. "Yes," he agreed. "We know. Thank you again for your help." He dipped his chin in farewell, then took Anya's hand and led the way. He didn't know where, exactly, he was going, so he let his instincts guide him whenever street signs couldn't.

(Should Parker get drunk? Or should he save it until they reach the port where they're staying 4 days at? Because I have a plan for that one, and I think it'll be too earlier to do that here. However, he can still get drunk if you think it'll be funny. XD)
While the rest of the crew drank heartedly and talked with each other and the locals, Parker made his first drink last. Being in this new town and with people he didn't fully know, he didn't want to abandon his good senses. So by the time the food was brought out, he still had a half full glass.
Like everyone else, the glances to the doors as Sol walked in. He just didn't join in with the cheers. That would have just been weird, he was sure. But from where he sat, he could watch the captain as he moved to the bar without making it obvious that he was doing so. At least, he hoped it wasn't obvious. When Sol headed their way. His focused returned to the food in front of him.
~•~•~
Elizabeth gave a small farewell, but the two Riders were already on their way out.
Anya kept pace with Seth, if not walked a little faster. She might not have known where they were going either, but she didn't care. The faster they found these men, the faster she would find her brother.

( I say he gets just tipsy enough to find the courage to ask Sol if he's been flirting with him. xD )
Sol spotted Parker immediately, but pretended he didn't as he was enveloped into the fold by his crew. He made his rounds, getting updates and learning the names of the new potential business partners. Someone offered to get him a plate of food, but he declined. He was making his way over there anyway. Apollo, however, accepted any food given to him, so long as it was approved by Sol first. Artemis only took food directly from Sol.
Apollo reached Parker first. He went right up to say hello, then sat down to try his luck for food. Sol arrived a minute later. "See something you like?" he asked, referring to Parker's focused stare upon the food. He moved closer, until only Apollo separated them. "Or are you avoiding me?"
~ • ~ • ~ Before too long — though the urgency they felt no doubt made it seem longer — they found the right place. Shortly after, Seth spotted the taller of the two men from their last visit. The man spotted Seth at almost the same time. He paled noticeably and turned around to hurry away in the opposite direction. Seth tightened his hold on Anya's hand and picked up his pace to follow.
The man rounded a corner ahead. Seth rounded the corner a minute later — and stopped. He pulled Anya back and behind him, the action automatic as he took in the five guys standing at the other end of the narrow street. Two he recognized easily as Dylan and Trevor (though he had no idea which was which), but the other three were new.
No. Seth's eyes narrowed, and he nodded to the man on the far right. "You were at the inn. Spying for your buddies, I take it. You must have exceptional hearing."
The man shrugged. "Not really. I just know how to read lips."
"Fascinating," Seth replied dryly. His gaze switched to the shorter man from last time. "Do you really think three extra guys will keep you from leaving here with another broken jaw?"
The man clenched said jaw. "Ethan has two decades of martial arts training, and Greg and Paul were soldiers in the King's army. Even if they don't beat you, you aren't walking out of here unscathed. You're going to pay for what you did, Rider."
"For what I did?" He let go of Anya's hand and took a step forward. "You were prepared to beat and do who knows what else to an innocent woman. If that doesn't earn you a broken jaw, I don't know what does."
The man glared and took his own step forward. "She's a Rider. I was under the impression you could all look after yourselves, man or woman."
Seth snickered. "Now that's a bald faced lie. I distinctly remember you telling me I was nothing without my dragon." He tilted his head and grinned. "You were wrong then, and you're wrong now. I will fight you all if I have to, and I will walk away unscathed. You can bet on it."

(In public or private? XD)
Apollo was a welcomed sight. It had almost become a habit now for the white Shepard to join him at meals. Perhaps because he was one of the few pe that plenty who would feed him more food than he should have. Now was no difference. He was just offering a bite of chicken to the dog when Sol's voice startled him. He had been distracted and hadn't noticed his approach.
Willing the blush not to rise to his face, he lifted his eyes to meet the captain's. "Yes, I do," he replied. Perhaps it was the alcohol slowly working its way into his system, but he was able to say that with more calm and ease than he thought he would have mustered on his own. "And why would I be avoiding you?"
~•~•~
Anya was ready to run after the man as soon as she recognized him as one of the two attackers from before. Luckily, Seth had the same idea. That is, until they came to an abrupt halt after turning the corner. With Seth in front of her, she had to lean over to peer around him. Sure enough, the two men, Dylan and Trevor, were wating, along with three other men.
As the conversation escalated, she could feel the anger rising from both the men and Seth, though the men were far less controlled. She grabbed the back of Seth's shirt and tugged gently, as if that would keep him out of a fight. "Look, we're not here for a fight," she said. "All we're looking for is my brother. He was staying at the inn on the southern side of town. He arrived three, four days ago. Please, do you know where he is?"

( Either or. I will be happy with both options. xD )
Sol shrugged as he reached for a plate to pile with food. "You tell me. You're the one who looks my way when I appear only to duck away before I get near. Do I make you nervous, Parker?"
~ • ~ • ~ Seth stilled at her touch and eased backward a fraction. The last time she tried to restrain him hadn't worked so well, but that was before he really knew her, before he respected her as he did now. If she didn't want this fight to happen, he would try her way first. He didn't have much hope for it, though.
The shorter man — Seth had dubbed him Dylan — crossed his arms and said nothing, though his smirk was pretty telling. It was the other man, "Trevor," who said, "Not anymore. Last we saw him, his unconscious ass was being carted west."
Anger flared, though he quickly suppressed it. Now was not a good time for Anya to be practicing her skills, though he would have loved to see the looks on these assholes faces when she kicked their asses. "What did you do?" he demanded.
Trevor and Dylan exchanged glances. Seth decided then that they were way too cocky, and they needed to be brought down a peg or three. And that was before Trevor said, "We sold him for a pretty penny." He smirked. "What are you going to do about it?"

(Oh, yay options. XD Hmm, I think for here, it'll be private, and then my plan, if you're down for it, can be public. How do you think Sol would react to getting a kiss in front of the crew? )
Parker's ears burned, and he couldn't hold eye contact with him. Before he replied, he took another long sip of his drink, stalling and trying to find the right words that wouldn't betray him. "No, you don't make me nervous," he replied. "I just don't want to be rude. You normally are doing other things, so I just don't try to get in your way. I hardly call that avoiding you."
~*~*~
The world seemed to crumble around her. For a moment, Anya could do nothing but stare at the grinning men as he brain struggled to accept what had been said. Parker had been sold? Slavery in the country was banned, but there were other places that she knew still used slaves for a variety of things. Most of those places were across the sea. It was rare to hear of slavers taking anyone this far inland since most of them would rather stay closer to the shores and port cities. So what were they doing here?
Then she was moving. Her hand left Seth's shirt, moving instead to where her daggers normally would be. However, they weren't there. She hadn't worn them since they had gotten to Ashborne. It didn't give her pause. She slipped around Seth and marching towards the men. There was no magic being used, but anger still burned in her tear filling eyes. It didn't matter if she was outnumbered or unarmed. She just couldn't let them sit there and get away with what they've done.

( Haaaaa... that's a good question, actually. xD Sol isn't secretive about his relationships, brief as they are, but he is still private. In other words, he doesn't do public displays of affection. BUT... if Parker initiates, I don't think he'd stop him. xD Let's do it. )
Sol watched him, lips quirked with amusement. "I'm always busy because I can't be still, not because I need to be doing those things. My crew is perfectly capable of doing their jobs without me. The mental stimulation you provide is a more than adequate replacement... if you wanted to provide it."
~ • ~ • ~ Seth felt Anya's hand release his shirt, but he kept his eyes on the threat before them until she started walking toward it. The men looked amused as they watched her; Seth was anything but. Still, he caught Anya around the waist before she got too close and pulled her to a stop. Conscious of the lip-reader, he put his mouth by her ear and spoke quietly. "If you're going to fight them, then take my anger and use it. I'll make sure you don't do permanent damage." His resolve to keep this from turning into a practice session had vanished the second he learned what the assholes had done with Parker.

(Hehe, food. Because he's going to be full drunk, full of confidence, and probably remember none of it the next morning. XD)
"Uh, well, be that as it may, that doesn't mean I can drop what I'm doing and go talk to you," Parker replied, feeding Apollo another bite. "I don't think anyone would like it if I just ignored my work." He was grasping at straws here. What he said was true. He didn't want to make anyone think he was putting off his responsibilities just to go speak with the captain. But there were other reasons he had as well.
~•~•~
Anya struggled against his hold until he started to whisper. Right now, she didn't even think twice about what he was telling her. "They took him," she murmured, voice cracking and body shaking in his arms. All she wanted to do was seek vengeance for Parker, who was an innocent bystander in all of this. All she wanted was to make them bring her brother back.

Sol shifted to face him, full plate of food in hand. "I admire your work ethic, Parker, but your bluffing has room for improvement. If you mustered the guts to approach me on my ship, the crew would applaud you for it." He paused. "Hm. That sounded harsher out loud than it was in my head. I don't mean to imply you're a coward, because you're not. Just shy. Well, sometimes. It's always a toss up."
~ • ~ • ~ "We'll get him back," Seth replied without hesitation. "No matter how long it takes. I promise. But right now, we have some asses to kick. You are more than welcome to take the lead, but if you don't think you can handle it, I will happily do it for you."

His words, while not having any I'll intent, had Parker wishing he could crawl under the table. Yeah, shy was cutting it nicely. Terrified would be a better way of putting it. He wasn't shy in general, but when dealing with crushes? He was surprised he was able to still do fighting practice with him in the mornings. "Look, c-can we just not talk about that here?" ( xD Okay, so do we want anything else to happen here? Or should it just be a semi-quiet night? If we do that, we can have a tipsy Parker left behind as the crew takes off one by one to spend the night with some stranger or another, and then Sol can surprise him by escorting him back to the ship, and that's when he can ask about the flirting. ;D )
~ • ~ • ~ The men exchanged glances, and Dylan rolled his eyes. "All right. Who wants to fight the girl?"
"I don't fight girls," the lip-reader replied. "But I'll gladly take on the arrogant Rider."
Seth arched one brow. "It's called confidence, asshole. Get it right."
He cracked his knuckles. "Yeah, I definitely want that one."
One of the two strangers, who had kept quiet until now, stepped forward. "I'll take care of the girl. But as soon as she's unconscious, I'm throwing her over my shoulder and taking her back to my place. The rest of you can deal with the smartass."
Seth almost crossed the distance between them to knock the man's teeth out when he made the comment about taking Anya. He caught himself, but had to force his tone into flippancy as he said, "I'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass."
The man just gave him the finger as he approached Anya. "Alright, sweetheart, let's make this quick." (You can take him over from here. ;) Kick his ass, Anya! xD)

There was a sudden surge of anger she could only assume was from Seth. It came after one of the men spoke aloud his plans if things were to go his way. Along with that, the urge to roast him alive grew stronger. However, it wasn't fire that she called forth. No, instead, Anya threw her hand out, as if pitching something in his direction. She held nothing, but a fist sized rock was flung through the air in his direction.
The man, who forgot the fact that Rider's wielded magic, ducked to one side. Had she actually thrown something, it would have missed. However, the rock was flying in a different path, one the man just moved into. He was struck right on the temple. He crumbled to the ground, alive but out of the fight for a moment. She ignored him after that and kept moving forward.
Snapping out of the surprise, on of the other men she didn't know stepped around the others. He got three steps in before her hands were engulfed with flames. Then he stopped for a brief moment of pause. Anya took that moment to weed out some of the fighters. She shook some of the flames off her hands, and, in a slightly Seth style of flare, had the fire race over the ground, surrounding Dylan and Trevor. The others could still run and hide, but these two were he only ones she as interested in beating up.
(Haha, I don't doubt that.)

( Nah, I'm good. Sol isn't holding back, so he's easy to write about. xD )
As the night wore on, the crew enjoyed themselves with good food, drink, and company. Mostly it was just chatter — stories told, experiences shared, even a couple of songs sung. Anyone who came to Millie's Tavern, whether or not they were part of the Comet's crew, were welcome, and they all left in better spirits than when they arrived.
It was getting late before the first patrons started escaping into the night in twos and threes. Sol took note whenever a member of his crew departed, and he paid attention to who they left with. Not because he had to, of course. It was just habit, with a bit of his captain's protectiveness.
He hadn't joined in any of the festivities during the night. He had just watched from his corner, and slowly put back one glass of brandy after another. He hadn't turned away anyone who asked to join him at his table, but those visits rarely lasted long before something — or someone — else pulled their attention away.
As yet another crew member slipped out the door with a friendly new companion on his arm, Sol stared into his glass and contemplated having another, or just returning to his ship. He had already reached his allotted five drinks for the night, but he found he wasn't yet ready to retire.
~ • ~ • ~ Seth found he couldn't hold on to his anger as he watched Anya. It didn't leave, just died down to a low burn, easy to ignore for the time being. Of course, that could have also been because Anya was siphoning it, but he was pretty sure the main reason was his sense of awe was beating it out.
He had known, from the moment they learned of her power, that she would do amazing things with it. This was his proof. He could only grin as she took one guy completely out of the fight within seconds, and cut off their main objectives with a thought. Any small doubts he had — that she wasn't ready, that her previous experiences would make her falter — had evaporated, and he couldn't wait to see how she dealt with the next idiot.
Only he didn't get the chance to watch. The last guy, the lip-reader Dylan had called Ethan, had slipped stealthily away from the others and circled wide around. If Seth hadn't been as well-trained as he was, he would have easily snuck up on Seth and successfully knocked his feet out from under him. Instead, he only got to within feet of Seth before being detected. Seth spun around, fast, and threw a kick that the man barely managed to block. He stumbled back under the blow, but it only made him laugh. "Oh, I have been waiting years for the chance to test myself against a Rider. This if going to be fun."
Seth smirked. "If you want fun, you chose the wrong Rider. I'm undefeated, and I'm not about to break that record with you."
Ethan took up a fighting stance and grinned. "Funny. I was about to tell you the same thing."

As the night evening wore on and alcohol kicked in, Parker found himself laughing and enjoying himself. It was loud and rambunctious, sure, but people were drunk or close to it. What did he expect. It was well worth the noise to be able to just kick back and be able to not worry about work in the morning.
During all of this, Parker managed to only have the two drinks he had order. At first, he didn't feel as it they were having much affect on him like they usually did. However, as the night drew on and people began to leave, he could tell the difference. He wasn't drunk, but he was at least still in his good senses enough to know if he had another glass, he wouldn't be able to keep control of his actions. So, eventually, he stood up, said a goodnight to the few still at his table, and headed for the door. Despite knowing Sol would pay for rooms at inns for them, the young man still found himself heading towards the ship.
~•~•~
There was a moment when it looked like the men were having doubt in their confidence. Then they seemed to remember that they were facing a woman smaller then them. Trevor was the first to step forward, irritation seeming to be the only thing on his face.
Anya didn't stop him. She let the man approach even though she could have easily knocked him out like before. However, she let him get within distance before quickly lunging closer, first aimed at his stomach.
Trevor had seen her move and let her. How much could she do? Yet the impact of the blow had been more forceful than he anticipated. But that also meant she was within his grasp. He grabbed a hold of her arm, ready to fling her into the nearest wall. He didn't get the chance. Using the skills Alia had taught her, Anya easily twisted free and stood behind him, wasting no time to deliver a swift kick to the back of his knees.

Apollo alerted him first, with a low, anxious whine that he only heard because he was so in tune with his dogs. Then Mason, one of the few remaining crew members, gave a playful shout just as Sol looked up to see Parker making his way to the door: "Hey, Parker! Where's your nights mistress?" It wasn't really funny, but pretty much the whole tavern burst into laughter anyway. A few local women even raised their hands with shouts of "I'll go home with him!" Sol couldn't tell if any of those claims were true, or if they were just adding on to the joke. Their giggles suggested the latter, though Sol noticed one, at least, looked tempted to get up and join Parker's exit.

Parker paused by the door when the teasing shouts were cast his way. Color rose to his face, but his buzz was helping to ignore the normal shyness he would have. He glanced at Mason and the women who had joined in. Then lingered on Sol before he replied. "As tempting as the offers are, I've had a long day. Think I'll just go get some peace and quiet while the rest of you have your fun," he called back with a laugh. Then, thanks to the alcohol messing with his internal filters, he added, "Besides, it's not a mistress I'd be looking for." Of course, the moment he said it, he realized what he said, so he quickly ducked out of the bar and into the night.

A chorus of "Oooooohs" went up around the room, as if Parker had delivered a good smackdown instead of the truth. It dissolved into more laughter, and one last call of "I bet I could change your mind!" from one of the women. As everyone broke down laughing once more, Sol watched Parker leave, silent and thoughtful. He only looked away from the door when Apollo sat up and stared imploringly up at him.
Sol held his dog's gaze for a minute before he arched one brow. "Oh, really?" he murmured dryly. Apollo gave a soft woof. Sol gave his head a rub and stood up. Artemis was up and by his side a heartbeat later, and then he was heading stealthily for the door. No one noticed his exit, still too busy giggling over Parker's comment.
As soon as they were outside, Sol released Apollo from his heel with a subtle hand gesture. The dog wasted no time breaking into a lope to catch up with Parker, who they could see walking ahead on the mostly deserted street. Sol kept to a casual stroll, and watched as Apollo announced his presence by rubbing up against Parker's leg, tail wagging and tongue lolling.
~ • ~ • ~ Seth sighed and did the worst thing one could do in a fight: he looked away from his opponent. Seth, of course, didn't see it that way. To him, it was the best way to goad your opponent into attacking first, and often sloppily.
So he glanced over his shoulder just long enough to see Trevor, the idiot, stand still for Anya's perfect solar plexus strike. Ethan, seeing this as Seth's weakness and an obvious opening, took it without hesitation.
He lunged forward to deliver a right kidney jab-left uppercut combo. Not missing a beat (and not nearly as distracted as he let Ethan believe), Seth's hand shot up to deflect the jab. He leaned sideways to dodge the uppercut, and snapped back with a right hook.
Ethan danced backward with a laugh. "Man, my mentor was right. You Riders are good."
"Yeah, and you're facing the best this generation has to offer," Seth returned.
Ethan began circling slowly to the left. "Okay, how is that confidence and not arrogance?"
"Simple." Seth pivoted in place to keep Ethan in front of him. "I've earned the right to brag. I didn't get this good by sitting on my ass."
Ethan opened his mouth to respond, but Seth was done waiting. He shot forward, spun, and kicked, hitting a stunned Ethan square in the chest. He stumbled back with a grunt and hit the wall. He didn't let it stun him, though. He rebounded off the wall and flew back toward Seth, arm out to catch him around the neck and bring him down. With perfect timing, Seth ducked the arm, grabbed Ethan's wrist, and pulled him back around and tossed him back toward the wall, face-first this time. Ethan barely caught himself before crashing.

Apollo wiggled his body happily and turned, putting himself in front of Parker for some bum scratches (cause dogs love those for some reason xD). Then he promptly sat on Parker's foot. His antics gave Sol time to catch up without rushing, and it had him wondering if Apollo had done that on purpose. The level of intelligence his dogs possessed still surprised him sometimes, even after almost a decade.
As he stopped beside Parker, he looked from man to dog and back, one brow arched. "It's official: I'm getting you a dog for your birthday. Maybe that way you'll stop stealing mine." He spoke in jest, knowing that Parker wasn't really trying to steal his dog. Apollo was very social, but still opinionated. If he didn't sense something special in Parker, he wouldn't gravitate toward him so much. And Sol learned long ago to trust his dogs.

Parker, with nothing better to do, happily stopped to give the dog all the pats and scratches he desired. When he decided that his foot was his new sitting spot, he laughed and crouched down so he was eye level. "I guess whenever you get up, we can go back to the ship. I'm sure no one will mind," he said. It wasn't long after, he heard Sol speak. Glancing up, he meet eyes with the captain. He simply grinned. "And how do you know it's not the other way around? I'm pretty sure Apollo's trying to steal me and my attention more than I'm trying to steal him," he replied. "I'm pretty sure that's a more accurate explanation."

Trevor let out a grunt of pain as he went down to one knee. It hurt, but it wasn't the worst hit she could have dealt. The booted roundhouse kick to the head, however, hurt like hell. He had turned his head to glare at the woman, becoming more and more irritated that the fight was even still going. What he saw was the sight of a boot flying to his face without any time for him to dodge. Blood sprang from his nose as he went to the ground. For good measure, and just because she had the anger to spare, she gave one more kick to be sure he wouldn't be getting up anytime soon.
But there was still the other man to take care of. Anya was just about to turn to look for him when she felt a fist collide with the side of her face. While the Seth's anger helped give her strength the the mental ability to fight and use magic properly, she hadn't noticed Dylan moving up behind her as she fought Trevor. The force of the punch sent her sprawling to the ground, stunned senseless for a moment. By the time she was able to understand what was happening again, she was on her feet with Dylan's arm wrapped tight around her throat and getting tighter. She kicked back with her feet in desperation, her hold on her magic fading as she struggled to breath. Her feet made contact, several times, but the hold was unrelenting.
