That's possible. He did seem very conscious of his image within the Clan and to me seemed like he liked his high status.

I wonder if he actually was such a high status within the Clan since we never really see him do anything amazing or take leadership roles in BP that I can think of. It could be possible that it was POV bias- Moonflower would have told Snowfur and Bluestar how important he was to the clan even if he wasn't to that extent.
