hello!!!!!!! Testing random coding here.... text text text text text hello!!!!!!! Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.
It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar.
The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. She packed her seven versalia, put her initial into the belt and made herself on the way. When she reached the first hills of the Italic Mountains, she had a last view back on the skyline of her hometown Bookmarksgrove, the headline of Alphabet Village and the subline of her own road, the Line Lane. Pityful a rethoric question ran over her cheek, then

Can you maybe show me how to do some of this kind of coding?

Sorry for the late response. But I don't understand padding, or how to make backgrounds or borders...

Ok let me try this again. c'x Making a simple box: Hello! <div style="margin:auto;width:80%;padding:10px;background:#8a8b8b;">Hello!</div> ^^^^ that is the coding I used to make that gray box. (except you use brackets [] instead of the arrows <> to make the coding actually work.) To make a box, you start by putting a bracket and then "div style=" since this is what makes the box. Then you can add margin. I don't remember what this does specifically, sorry xD I always just set it to auto. In between each tag ("margin," "padding," etc. are all called tags, if I remember correctly), put a semicolon. Then width. You can put it as a pixel number (example, 300 px) but percentages can be better as they adjust to the post size. A larger percentage makes the box wider, and a smaller percentage makes it narrower. Then padding. Padding puts space between the edge of the box and your text and whatnot. You can put in padding as pixels (px). The more padding you put, the more space there will be from the edge of the box to your text. To add a background color, then you put "background:" and you can just type some colors, such as "red" or "blue" or you can use the html color codes, like I did for that gray box. You can look up html color codes and find the code for the specific color you want. Then, you put a semicolon, another set of quotation marks, and a closing bracket. Now you can add your text for the post. Once you have whatever text you want there, you have to finish the code. Simply put an opening bracket and then "/div" and then a closing bracket, and you're done. You can look at my code for the little gray box for reference! If you need any more help, feel free to ask. c: maybe you can try making a box or two here first, and then I can tell you about borders.

Let's see if this works. Sorry I wanted to read over your directions a few times to understand it completely When I changed the font color so I could actually read it, it came up like this <div style="background: rgb(255, 222, 173);margin:auto;padding:20px;width:95%;"><font color="#000000">Let's see if this works. Sorry I wanted to read over your directions a few times to understand it completely</font></div> The part that I bolded; what does that stuff mean??

Looks nice! ^^ I think that's just another format of writing a code for a certain color. I think my codes did that once too. I'm not really sure what to do about it tbh... Ok, so borders. All you have to do for a border is add the "border:" tag after padding, background, etc. in your coding, and put the thickness (in pixels), the type of border you want, and the color code for whatever color you want the border to be. Example: border: 5px solid #abcdef So let me take the gray box I made earlier and add that border to it: Hello! <div style="margin: auto; width: 80%; padding: 10px; background: #8a8b8b; border: 5px solid #abcdef;">Hello!</div> ^^^^ there's the coding for the box with the border. c: As for different types of borders, there's solid, double, ridge, groove, inset, outset, dashed, and dotted. There might be more, but those are the ones I know. So if you wanted one of these types, just put the type in where I put "solid" in my code.

Oh, weird... Did you put the <font color="(insert color here)"> text here </font> in?
Hm... what about making a box within a box? I'll type that up real quick...
Post by Deleted on Aug 6, 2016 14:14:29 GMT -5
Ok, making a box within a box. I'll use the same gray box I've been using, but I'll put a darker gray box in there too. Hello! More text here blah blah blah... Hello! Text text text text text <div style="margin:auto;width:80%;padding:10px;background:#8a8b8b;border:5px solid #abcdef;">Hello! More text here blah blah blah... <div style="margin:auto;width:80%;padding:10px;background:#2b343f;">Hello! Text text text text text</div> </div> ^^^^^^ there's the coding for my box that now has another box inside. All you do is add another <div style="put whatever coding here you want">put your text here</div> in between the opening code (<div style="etc.">) and the closing code (</div>) of the outer box. If you forget one of the </div>'s, the code will get all wonky/won't work correctly. Also, you can add a border or whatever you want to the inner box; I just left it off in this example for simplicity.

Of course! I'm not in a hurry or anything, so you can do this at your own pace and I'll just check back periodically. ^^

Quick question before I do it... To put a box inside another box, and if I'm going to put text in the outside box, I don't need to put </div> after that text?
Post by Deleted on Aug 7, 2016 15:32:15 GMT -5
If the text will be above/before the inner box, then no. You'll only need the </div> at the very end of all the coding. If the text will be below/after the inner box, then yes, only because you'll be putting the </div> for the outside box at the end there.
Sorry if that was confusing. xD but basically no.

So how do you make the border on only one side?
Post by Deleted on Aug 8, 2016 10:53:48 GMT -5
Ah, I was going to post about that next. xD
All you have to do for that is put "border-left" or "border-right" instead of just "border." Then you put the same things you do for "border," like the thickness, type, and color.
