The Contest Arcade
This arcade is not just for writers. It's for everyone.
Intro
You walk into a town called WFF and the first place of business you see is an arcade. Curious, you enter to see what kind of games they have. Around you light dances and small 'dings' and 'pings' sound from all corners. This place is alive with fun games and life. A person comes from around the corner. She wares a shirt that says 'The Contest Arcade'. Smiling, she tosses a small ball to you. You fumble and just catch it with the tips of your fingers. When you stand up, she speaks:
"Welcome," she says. "This is the Contest Arcade. I will be your host and main judge. You may call me Mint if you like."
You nod your head, still overwhelmed by the lights and sounds. You can barely hear your host over the sound of the games music.
"If you have any question, just ask," says Mint. "Now, go on, explore, look around. If you see a game you like, start playing."
You look around at all the games. Which should you play first?
Hello, and welcome to the Contest Arcade. This is a place where you can compete against others for the high score. But most importantly, it's a place to have fun. This arcade is not just for writers. I can't stress that enough. Anyone, writer or reader, can play these games.
We have three main categories for this arcade. All three could improve your writing, but not all of them have you write a story. The categories are: Writing, Reading, and Editing. Some mini games even combine these categories. In the end, it doesn't matter which contest you enter, or whether you win. All that matters is that you had fun while playing. Good luck. --Mint
1. Have fun. (Not so much a rule, but we hope that you do.)
2. No stealing other peoples work. This means that we don't want you entering one-shots someone else created, editing someones work without permission, entering a fan fiction you don't own, or using a review that you didn't make.
3. We (the judges) ask everyone to be patient. We are only human. We'll try to judge everything by Monday, 5:00, EDT, but sometimes real life gets in the way. (A way you can help is sign up to become a judge. See FAQs for more details.)
4. Submit your work into the contests whenever you want. As long as you meet the deadline you will be accepted. You don't have to enter every single time if you don't want to.
5. As of now, we are only accepting cat related works (This rule doesn't count when it comes to the 6 Word Story Mini Game). However, in the future, we plan to have mini games for Original Writing as well.
6. Scoring Rubrics have yet to be posted, but trust us, we have one.
7. If you want to enter a fan fiction for review or editing just post a link to it in the comments or PM a judge with the link. (How to PM a judge is in: Meet The Judges.) We ask that please only give this contest stories posted in WCRP. Thank You.
8. More rules could possibly come later.
Most of the Games and Mini Game tell you how you can join in the Intro. If you are still unsure after that how you can enter a contest you can a) ask a judge, or use this one, easy to remember step: We'll accept if it's posted in its own topic in the WFF. Just link to it. For example: if you enter Review Master and aren't 100% you know how to enter your review into the contest, just post the review in its own topic, give me (or another judge) the link, and will judge it just like the rest of the reviews.
