I hate her worse than Tigerstar. Worse than Clear Sky. Maybe even Mapleshade.
She should be exiled from the clans forever!
Why did Blackstar have to die? He was the greatest leader Shadowclan ever had since Tall Shadow. I want to like Rowanstar, I really do, but what the heck was he thinking? What happened under his watch would never have been tolerated under previous leaderships. And he doesn't even invoke the newest addition to the warrior code at the gathering? He could have gotten the other three clans to help him drive out the rogues! Why not?
Onestar was right from the beginning. They should have driven the rogues away the moment they arrived at the lake, in fact that's exactly what Windclan was trying to do. He said Shadowclan could have the herb if they drove them out and he wanted all the clans to do it at the gathering!
I was also wondering what was going on with Echosong at the beginning and Alderheart at the end? Is it the blazing star they're hinting at? Are all the clans going to live next to each other again? I guess Skyclan might live with the clans by the lake after this is all over, I think they should stay in the gorge, though...
And I swear, if Darktail becomes Darkstar I will burn the book in which that happens. Before I read TaS, I knew something like this would happen, I thought he'd start his own clan and that the clans would fight at the moonpool when he is trying to receive his nine lives and Starclan can't agree on what to do weather he deserves them or not...
And Dawnpelt? Come on! You think Crowfrost would have wanted you to betray Rowanstar? And the medicine cat stayed too? It's not even a clan anymore, just as Onestar said.
I don't think I have to explain why I hate Needlepaw. She doesn't deserve a warrior name, the snake!
Skyclan will probably come back, stronger than before and drive out Darktail! I hope that happens.

Does Darktail even believe in StarClan? I find it difficult to imagine him getting nine lives with how much he scorns the Clans and their traditions in general. Furthermore, Rowanstar is still alive. Even if Darktail were to go get nine lives, a situation similar to Brokenstar or Pinestar still remaining alive might happen and Darktail would be denied the full nine lives a regular clan leader would get.
Also, I can understand why Dawnpelt and Puddleshine stayed behind. Like it was stated in the book, Dawnpelt wanted to stay for her kits, and Puddleshine couldn't just leave his clanmates without a medicine cat.

I bet he would start believing in Starclan if it meant he could get nine lives (Kind of reminds me of Sharpclaw). I was thinking about it a bit more today and I believe he might actually pretend he got the lives, in other words Nightstar all over again. Obviously if cats thought he got them it would cement his position as an actual clan leader and having a rightful place in the forest even if it was built upon a lie. Yea, looking back on it I can also understand why they did it. I still think it was the wrong decision though. You're probably going to have a scenario akin to the fight between Darktail and Rain which makes them realize that they can't live with his rogues anymore.

Needlepaw made some really bad decisions in this book, I agree. But I do thing she is an interesting character. I don't think she should be exiled, yet, either. She is young and naive. She still has time to learn honor and the importance of the rules. I don't think she deserves her warrior name as she didn't really earn it and just gave it to herself, though.

I can understand why Needlepaw/tail is disliked as a character, considering how brash and rude she can be but I think that she, as a character, and the rest of Darktail's group for that matter bring up an interesting question. In the first series we found ourselves questioning the clan cats as to why Rusty couldn't be a warrior just because of where he was born and now Needlepaw is questioning why she HAS to be a warrior because of where she was born. She doesn't like all of the rules that come along with Clan life but doesn't find any appeal in loner life as she's expressed how much it hurts to feel alone before, enter Darktail's group who completely agree with her and resemble something of a family themselves, nothing near the Clans of course but they're friendly enough to each other that she gravitates towards them. While I'm sure that Darktail doesn't have good intentions for the forest, the way he and his followers argue with the Clans is interesting, questioning why they have any more right to the lakeside territory than anyone else. It makes me wonder if every cat in Darktail's group agree with his plans to rule the forest or if some of them are just hungry/lonely rogues looking for a place to be able to settle down and live a comfortable life. Overall while Needlepaw can definitely be annoying I think she's unique and I'm excited to learn more both about her and the rest of Darktail's group.

I feel like she's building up for a fall, here--like she's going to think life is grand without the warrior code, only to have something horrifying happen that shakes her up, and realizes just how badly she screwed up by helping the rogues. Maybe have her warrior name rescinded to show her newfound humility. I'm willing to forgive her mistakes, but I'm far less pleased about her treatment of Violetpaw. It's too close to an abusive relationship, what with how she manipulates and guilt-trips her. In any case, she's definitely a breath of fresh air, even if she infuriates me sometimes.

I agree with you on Needletail/Needlepaw. Their personality was pretty cool in the first AVoS book, but then it completely changed in the second book, which made me hate her instantly. However, like others are saying above, their story is interesting.

Agreed! I hate her more than Clear Sky.
I really liked her in The Apprentices Quest but now I hate her. She is a manipulating, traitorous she cat and she's bringing Violetpaw down with her. Violetpaw annoys me too, she turned out to be a real snob.
If I were in Shadowclan I'd have torn her to shreds. I hope Needletail gets what she deserves along with the rouges.

I agree with you in saying other ShadowClan leaders would have actually punished her for her outbursts. Needlepaw is a jerk. And Violetpaw and Alderpaw are both like "she's the coolest!" *rolls my eyes* She has no regard for others, she says she cares for Violetpaw and yet treats her like dirt.

I kinda like Needlepaw because of her personality. I feel bad for her because Berryheart and Sparrowtail (Her parents) haven't even spoken to her in any part of the series. She is very annoying, I know, but I like her for some reason. Help.

I like Needletail as a character. She's done some cruel, horrible, unforgivable things, but she's well written and interesting. As a cat, I hate her with a burning passion.

*SPOILERS* I liked Needlepaw's boldness and fiery attitude in TAQ but she's horrid in TAS! She made very bad decisions, like joining the rogues ( though I think that liking Rain probably helped towards her doing that ), I think she was horrid at times. Like being unkind and unfair to Violetkit/paw and also enjoying watching her leader being attacked by Darktail. When she begged Violetpaw to stay in ShadowClan after the attacked, I'm sure she was putting it on. She needs someone to put her in her place and get her mind under control. Perhaps Alderheart might be that cat?

When I read TAQ and TAS, I hadn't known Hawkwing's Journey was out yet, so once I was introduced to Darktail and his group of rogues I was very confused. (And still am.)
This tomcat's already driven SkyClan from their home, had a perfectly good expanse of (stolen) territory... yet he leads his cats to the lakeside Clans and takes over ShadowClan why? And how does he know so much about the Clans anyway? (Is he a former BloodClan cat or something? His name does sound like a Clan name.)
ShadowClan's apprentices and younger warriors made me want to scream with frustration. ????
Please let this be like what happened in Into the Wild and the remaining loyal/good ShadowClan cats team up with Rowanstar, Tawnypelt, Tigerheart, and ThunderClan to drive the rogues out and take back their Clan. Please. ShadowClan doesn't deserve any of this.

Needlepaw. She doesn't deserve the warrior name.
She gets on my nerves so much. If she was real, I would use her as my punching bag. She's sneaky, manipulative and just makes me want to rip my hair out. The way she manipulates Violetpaw out of being a good warrior, just UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
She needs to die. Erins, please make Needle DIE NOW!

As much as Needletail annoys me, I think that what's her name from Dawn of the Clans annoyed me more. I have to look her up, that's how much I threw her out of my thoughts...Star Flower.

I don't agree with you when it comes to Violetpaw. She dosen't have a mother or farther at this point in time with the books. Everything that has happened to her was all Nettletail's fault. She is separated from her only family Twigpaw in a Clan that not only doesn't want her their but don't even like her. All she wanted was someone to like her and want her around/be her friend. Violetpaw also can't be a true snob cause then that means everyone would be doing things for her which is not the case.
