I'm sure most of us can agree it dragged a lot. But, other than that, it was pretty good, in my opinion. I feel the characters were written pretty well, and I've taken a liking to Clear Sky. What about you all?

I really enjoyed it, I loved seeing a fresh batch of characters, and I'm really sad that there's not more DOTC centric books, I'd LOVE to see more of Red Claw.
My only problem, is that in one of the books, in a special scene, or prologue, or something, they mentioned Gorse and Wind saving the lives of two kits named Willow and Frog, but that is NEVER brought up again, even when Willow joins WindClan.

The First Battle was such a good book. Apart from that it was an alright arc, kind of boring at times but not terrible by any means. One-eye should've been the villain throughout the whole six books, Slash was so pointless, but at least we got good ol' Fern Leaf out of him.

I actually rage quit twice because of my frustration from reading about Clear Sky's actions the majority of the story. The only real saving grace, imo, was Gray Wing, Riverstar and Shadowstar.

I tried really hard to enjoy it, but about 10 chapters into Thunder Rising I just thought "why?" I wasn't getting any kind of enjoyment out of it. I had to push myself through The Sun Trail, and I only found the end of it really entertaining. I kept going because everyone had told me it was the best arc of the whole series, but I literally just couldn't do it.

I really enjoy DOTC and find early clan life super interesting. I would be 100% on board if the erins had decided to end the modern clans storyline after TLH and just continue with arcs from the DOTC time period. As for the books themselves, I think each one has their own pros and cons. The Sun Trail was enjoyable for me and i loved the introduction of new but recognizable characters and it did an amazing job at setting up the arc. Thunder Rising was a bit more dry but I did like it, Clear Sky is insufferable to me and while I don't think I will ever like him I do think his character is well done in the fact that he actually managed to draw emotion out of me. The First Battle is by far my favorite and I think I've gotten teary every single time I've read it. The characters actually have personality and life in them while you can actually feel the tension rising. It has some of my favorite scenes and lines from the entire series.
The second half of the arc is where I feel it begins to suffer. The fact that their is no defined villain for this half of the arc and is instead two separate lack luster ones was meh. One Eye had potential to be a brutal villain but kinda fell short for me. He sort of just appears out of no where and then dies. The sickness also seemed like it was going to be more devastating but it wasn't, the threat of it was the worst bit. AFD was probably my favorite in this half of the arc just because Quiet Rain handed Clear Sky's butt to him (and seeing the formation of ShadowClan/ThunderClan). I can't even remember the last books title, Slash was a very underwhelming villain besides letting his camp mates die and for some reason some chose to follow him anyway. Like okay lol. If he had been introduced alongside One Eye it probably would have worked better.
All and all, I think the arc had some of the best characters and I would love to revisit them outside of a novella (which do them NO justice and don't feel canon to me but that's my opinion). My biggest problem with it is that it feels like they ran out of ideas once Clear Sky calmed down and also i have no idea how much time has passed during all this. Like, isn't Thunder a year old?

Why isn't there a middle option? It's very middling for me.

I actually liked the first half of the arc, but I felt like it kinda slowed down in the second half.

It's the best arc. For now. With the promise TBC is showing, it could top it. We'll see when it's over.

Absolutely loved it. The new cast of characters was a breath of fresh air. The plot was fast paced and riddled with death. They started to experiment with more complex characters like Clear Sky, though to differing levels of success. And it was SO nice to be back in the old forest. I never realized how much I missed the old forest until I read this series. And Gray Wing's death, wow. Gray. Wing's. Death. They could not have ended that arc any better.
All in all, it was a fantastic arc. All of my nostalgia came rushing to the surface and I was just a mess at times.

The first three books were okay, but the other three were annoying. Quiet Rain was too forgiving, and One Eye and Slash were wasted potential.

It's my favorite arc of the series! I wish there were more books with these characters rather than the modern Clans tbh. The characters in this series were developed so well and I enjoyed every book.
