The Mona Lisa is incredibly overhyped imo. You have to wait in this super long line just to get into a little room crammed with a bunch of people and half roped off to see... this single tiny painting hanging on a wall? Okay then I understand the need to take a nap. Walking all over that huge place was super tiring.

Apparently it got stolen one time and caused a huge commotion and has been famous ever since. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Partly because of that.

i kinda had the same experience at the New York MOMA with Van Gogh's Starry Night, though i doubt it gets as crowded as the Louvre does >_>
fun fact: the mona lisa got famous in part bc it was pretty scandalous at the time, because of her infamous smirk and how her eyes stare directly back at the viewer, as if they're always following. also it was 1500-something and it was taboo for an married woman to look directly at a man that wasn't her hubby

I felt the same way during the time I went to the Smithsonian art museum. I was already exhausted because we had already been to the air and space and American history museums. Plus, I’m not into art much to begin with.
