So, my phone screen is cracked hella and has a couple of holes in it. On top of that I have basically bare-minimum apps (discord, one single amino, facebook lite, messenger lite, are the only ones i have.) and i can't update any of them anymore without deleting stuff which i'm not about to do. Its also been a virus carrier and where as I took care of the most damaging things it was doing, its never worked the same since.
For the record, I prefer android devices and I can't spend more than $200 on a new phone. I'd also prefer it to be compatible with straight talk because that's been the best service for the lowest price in my experience. I also like to be able to game and save loads of memes, so lots of space is a must. I dont care so much about the camera or anything else.
Also if phones with slide out keyboards still exist somewhere I'd die for one. i hate touch screens.

This is probably the only good option at the price range. There's a few others around that price, but they're only available in specific countries. Take a look at the specs if you know what they mean, but tl;dr: it should handle everything relatively well. It only has 32gb of storage, but it has a microSD slot to add more space. As for if it'll work with your carrier, you have to see what bands the company uses (you can usually google it). There's a list of phone supported bands if you expand the "Technology" list (that shows the GSM, LTE, etc bands).

I have less than 5gb of storage so thats already leaps and bounds better than my current phone.

i use straighttalk and if u order straight from the site or get the phone from your local walmart, it'll always be the right band for your area. they use it all since they are an MVNO with agreements with every major carrier. you might want to find out whether cdma or gsm is better for your area if you buy an unlocked phone tho bc most aren't compatible with both at once. i'm pretty sure ST will run everything everywhere, but usually one is stronger than another for a particular area, especially if it's rural or a small city. for example, the a10s linked above i believe is gsm only so if ST uses cdma for your area, it could get worse service
i know the a10e (a bit downgraded from the a10s, tho not as low as the J series) is on sale with walmart for $50 rn, and (not sure how you feel about older gen phones but) the galaxy s7 is quite discounted to under $200 on the ST website right now as well. i've also used the moto g series before and liked it but they've declined a lot so not sure how their newer ones are. i'm not sure i'd recommend anything else.

Straight TalkThey have a fairly large selection of phones on their own, many for under $200. I personally use an LG, and they are fairly user friendly. Plus with it being Cyber Monday, a lot of them are on sale right now.

Thanks for the suggestions. Although unfortunately the earliest I could afford it is after christmas or the beginning of next year so I can't capitalize on any of the cyber monday deals. RIP me I guess.

oh! ST has pretty big sales all the time actually and they're always the same physically at walmart, can't say any as steep as the $50 a10e but there will likely be some then regardless. i can actually give feedback on the a10e by then since both my parents bought it if you want. but yeah, i got my phone for half off from the site nowhere near any holidays, so i think you'll still see some after christmas if you take a peek at the site every now and then. the a10e will be under $200 even at full price though !

one thing i keep seeing while im looking around is "unlocked" but i cant find anywhere that says what that means. Unless it literally just means you cant have a lock pattern/number and im just overthinking this.

Unless it literally just means you cant have a lock pattern/number and im just overthinking this. An unlocked phone is a phone that isn't locked to any carrier. Some carriers do this thing where once you use their sim card, you can ONLY use their sim cards until you unlock your phone again (not the same as opening the phone). To unlock you usually have to pay a fee and get it done through the carrier.

i'm not sure about the actual tech of it, but locked is when a phone will only work with one carrier (unrelated to "band" like GSM, CDMA) that it is locked to. so a phone locked to StraightTalk would mean that if you tried to put a SIM card from Verizon in that phone, it wouldn't work. unlocked means you can take it to any carrier through a "bring your own phone" program. usually, you buy an unlocked phone from amazon or the manufacturer's site, and usually, you get a locked phone from the carrier's website or store or a store like walmart or target that has one or more carriers they offer.
a lot of phone manufacturers don't offer an unlocked version.
