If we saw things from an Ants perspective, would you think we were gods? Because of how big we are in relation to them? Like... We can kill them so easily... and destroy their houses like its nothing..

i feel like if an angel showed up in their true form right now they might not even have to say "be not afraid" because most of the current generation has seen so much shit we'd just be like "cool flame wings and thousand eyes bro." and carry on.

secular advent calendars are appropriation explain. i mean it's a shower thought so it's only half-serious, so people shouldn't feel accused, but it does have truth behind it advent is an incredibly important time in the liturgical year for Catholics (it's our liturgical new year!) and is a time of waiting prayerfully for the presence of Christ (hence the name, which comes from the Latin adventus, or "coming"). advent calendars are liturgical tradition in counting down the four weeks of advent until the Christmas season. it's a serious and contemplative time, like lent but before christmas instead of easter. during advent, the family gathers around every night a wreath with four candles, with the lit candles corresponding to how many weeks of advent have passed. each day corresponds to a certain scriptural reading for us to meditate over how we can best prepare ourselves to receive Christ into our lives. physical advent calendars started showing up in the 1800s and featured the nativity scene, and each day of advent, you'd set up one piece of the scene (like a donkey or one of the wisemen). it was especially to help young children understand the importance of advent and what we are waiting for i really don't have much problem with non-Christians celebrating Christmas, because most people still have a wholesome intention/understanding that respects the holiday (family, tradition, etc). but with advent, the only exposure most non-Catholics have are those chocolate calendars, and so it's taking an important and very serious season for Catholics and stripping everything meaningful about it. imagine if secular society did that with the 13days of Chanukkah. Advent holds the same level of reverence for practicing Catholics and it hurts to see it used as an excuse for consumerism. i don't care if people want to have Christmas-countdown calendars, but they should not call them "advent calendars" because that's just disrespectful to those who actually believe in it. the fact is there is a gross amount of religious appropriation in society, not just for Catholics but many religions, but nobody wants to think about it.
