(Ah okay. That's good to hear.)
The iciness in Atlis' green eyes and voice continued to make the assassin uneasy. She still didn't show it, however. She eyed each of the royals for a moment curious if they had anything to add onto the Virelith man's words. Her head snapped toward the princess as she spoke up. Olwen expected some type of sassy remark or an addition to the words of the princes. Instead, she seemed to be on the assassian's side. Olwen narrowed her eyes curiously towards the girl, wondering what she was planning.
"You should listen to the princess, she's right. A day or so after you left, I was called in for a meeting with your father and the head assassian. They told me they wanted you back home safely and so I began to track you." Her mind briefly wandered towards Lady Zimra, the head assassian. She was somewhat of a cruel woman who was known for her cold and calculating nature. She was also Olwen's mother. Of course the term 'mother' only went so far. She was her mother by blood, not by relationship.
Bazil glanced at his sister as she spoke up. He listened to what she said and wanted to dismiss her words, but a part of him refused. Evanora was quite smart and had a good judge of character. If she believed the assassian, then perhaps he should listen. Olwen explained her mission to the group. The half-elf considered her words. It sounded like an offical meeting, but details were missing. How did they truly know she was telling them everything?

Atlis was unsure what to do next. He knew Evanora was right in a way, but Atlis was angry for two very different reasons; he was mad that olwen had snuck into an unknown kingdom castle in search of him, and the other reason was severyl personal; he was upset that she had chosen to be an assassin over her relationship with him. Atlis had always thought highly of the girl, but was crushed when he was told by his father that she had been taken away to become an assassin. He knew that life was hard and unforgiving. "What I cant figure out is why my father wants me back so bad." He didn't take hi eyes off Olwen. He was trying to catch her falter at any given moment, any sign of weakness or unsureness. "I would guess and say that he did not give you a reason?" He prompted the young girl.
Evanora watched how Atlis eyes seemed to give away all his emotions at once. Something about him watching the assassin made her chest burn, but she could not put her finger on it. She had never had that feeling before. Turning her gaze away from Atlis, she looked at her older brother. He seemed uneasy, but he held his ground just like their father would have. "Do you think bringing him back now would benefit him or the kingdom of Virleth?" She dared to let Olwen know that the two other royals knew of the break down of their beloved home.

Olwen simply shrugged. She had no clue why the prince was needed back so urgently. Or at least she wanted ot to come off that way. His father wanted him dead apparently. She wasn't about to let that happen, but she still needed a way to get him to Eadrid. She still couldn't tell him his mother was alive, it would be too much of a shock for him. When he gave out his guess, the assassian nodded. "You've guessed correctly," the young woman confirmed. She flickered her gaze over towards Evanora as she spoke up. It was a rather good question. One that she didn't know how to answer. After thinking it over for a moment, Olwen slowly nodded.
"We need someone like Atlis in Virelith. He's a good prince and would make a good leader as the king wants." Better than his father, as her tone seemed to suggest. She didn't reveal her thoughts out loud, however. Such words could get her killed.
Bazil narrowed his eyes towards Olwen as she spoke. There was something off about the woman, like she was hiding something. The magic of truths was diffcult to master. The half-elf prince was hardly an expert in that art and had diffculty doing the most basic spells of that nature. Even still he focused on the woman, subtly twisting his hand in the motion for the spell. She would feel urged to tell the truth, hopefully. At the very least he could sense just how true her words were.

"Well what do you want us to do." Evanora asked, her voice thick with annoyance. "I mean, do you really expect us to just send Atlis away with an assassin?" She almost spat the last word out. She had agreed with her ealier, but her emotions were getting to her now. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Basil twitching his wrist. She knew that he was doing some sort of spell on the assassin. In the moment she felt her respect for her brother grow. He was almost as set as she was to protect young Atlis.
Atlis nodded when Evanora asked her question. "I wouldnt trust my father." He said blankly. He was still unsure what Olwens true intentions were, and he was severely unsure on how to get her to admit what was really going on. He was grateful that Basil and Evanora were on his side.

The assassin glanced at the princess. She had once been calm and even agreed with her. Now she had become rather annoyed and had began to act like the princes. Olwen grimaced. It seemed she had no one who was at least a little on her side anymore. That made the situation all the more diffcult to work with. After a moment, Atlis himself spoke up, mentioning how he wouldn't trust the king. Olwen already knew that much, especially after finding a queen who was supposed to be dead in the forest.
"So assassian," Bazil began, "what happens if we tell my father and throw you in the dungeons? There's nothing stopping us from doing that."
Olwen studied the man for a moment. There was an air of arrogant confidence about him. She didn't like that. She focused her gaze on the half-elf while keeping an eye on the other royals. "If I don't bring him back, more assassians and trackers will be sent. If they think one wasn't enough, they will send a whole group, and a whole group of assassians is far more deadly than just one. Besides that I'll be killed if they find me. Blood relations don't matter. Everyone is subjected to the same treatement." She found herself revealing more than she had intended and visibly frowned. There was something odd going on, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Atlis nodded and thought for a moment. He knew Olwen was right, and the longer they kept her here, the more danger the whole situation would become. "Maybe I should just go." Atlis concluded. "I dont want to put you in anymore danger than what I already have. If Olwen found me this easily, imagine what our head assassin and even better trained people could do." A shutter traveled down his spine when the words left his mouth. It was never his intention to let anything happen to these people.
Evanora glared at the prince. "You are the stupidest person if you think we would send you out there on your own with her." She slapped a hand on the table. "We told you we were going to help you. Im sure my father would send us out with some people if he knew what was going on..." Evanora just wanted to help, but she was so unsure of the situation that she just didn't know what to do. She shrugged and let her shoulders sag.

"Maybe I should go," Atlis said. Olwen glanced at him, forcing a smile down. If he joined her, she could take him to his mother immediately. That would save her a lot of trouble. Just as she thought she was getting somewhere, Princess Evanora snapped. She clearly wanted to keep him around. To help him, as they had apparently promised. She glanced between the small group. Bazil was silent, his sister protested against Atlis' words, and Atlis seemed weary.
"Okay you still don't trust me," Olwen said after a moment. "I can hardly blame you for that, however. Point is none of you are safe as long as I stay here. And unfortunately for me, it would be unwise to return empty-handed. The safest option for you all is for Atlis to come with me." She studied each other them for a moment. The princess was annoyed, even angry, the Virelith prince wanted to go, and the half-elf was unreadable.
Bazil continued to watch Olwen. What game are you playing? He still didn't feel like she was telling the entier truth. She was hiding something, but he couldn't be sure as to what it was. As he watched the assassian, an idea popped into his head. He wasn't about to let the woman leave with Atlis alone. It was also unlikely they would want tone with them. However they didn't have to know of they were being followed. "When would you leave?" He finally asked.
"Tonight. It would be safer for everyone."
Bazil carefully nodded. "In that case, I think we should let you go. That is assuming Atlis is Alright with it." He paused for a moment. He knew Evanora likely wouldn't agree. Of course he had a different plan in mind. "Sister, can I speak with you for a moment?"

Evanora stared at her brother. Hes just going to let him go?! anger burned in her chest. After all the trouble they had put themselves through for this one prince, Basil was about just going to let them go? She wanted to slam Basils head into the table, but the urgency in his last words snapped her back into focus. She huffed and shoved herself away from the table, all respect lost for the assassin she once had. She headed towards the door of the study where they had entered just minutes before. "What." She whispered, folding her arms across her chest.
Atlis shrank back in his seat. The anger of Princess Evanora scared him and made him uneasy. He definitely did not expect her to be so passionate about whether he stayed or went. He shook his head with a deep sigh escaping his lungs. "This was not supposed to be this difficult." The words, full or sorrow and pain, escaped his lips before he even realized. He did not like letting people around him know he was hurting inside, but the past few days it seemed like all the did was make problems for people he did not want to harm. He watched at Basil and Evanora stepped away. "So. You want to take me home." He turned to olwen, his eyes softer than before. "You and i both know that if i go i will either be held prisoner or be killed." The words fell from his mouth like stones, weighing his heart down with them. He missed his friend Olwen, and he wished life could be different, but they had both chosen their path in life.

(Pft no worries, I definitely get it. And that sucks for your sleep schudel. I hope it gets better soon.)
The assassian carefully watched the half-elf prince and his sister get up and go to a corner of the room. She narrowed her eyes as she watched them. Before she could listen in on their conversation, Atlis spoke up. A pang hot her chest. She wanted to comfort her old friend, tell him it would be alright. Unfortunately she couldn't do that for multiple reasons. Instead she contiuned to keep her cold air and glanced at him for a moment.
"Well, I don't know what to expect," she admitted, surprising herself. "You will be okay, though. The kingdom cares about all its princes., though it seems especially you. You will be fine." She was trying to be reassuring, though wasn't sure how she managed that. Despite letting her emotions stat with her unlike other assassians, Olwen still wasn't the best at interacting with others.
With Atlis and Olwen seemingly distracted, Bazil turned his attention towards his sister. She wasn't happy about the prospect and he could hardly blame her. He didn't want to let the other prince leave with the assassian either. He turned his gaze towards the prince and smiled. "Let's follow them. We'll let them go, but we'll always be trailing behind. With my magic, we'll be safe too and, hopefully, undetected. What do you say?" He asked in a low whisper. He paused for a moment before contouning.
"If they don't know we're following them, we could make sure Atlis is okay. In fact, we might be able to rescue him instead and send Olwen off with a warning." It wasn't his greatest idea nor was it his smartest. However- like his sister -he wasn't about to let the other prince go.

Evanora looked at her brother, her eyes skeptical for a moment. When Basil finished his sentence, a light giggle escaped her lips, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "genius." She breathed in her brothers ear as she turned to head back to the table where she left the assassin and Atlis. Once she sat down she folded her hands and waited.
Atlis noted Olwens coldness and turned his head away. Note taken His chest burned with resentment. When Basil and Evanora returned to the table, Evanora seemed to be in a completely different state of mind. "All okay?" He asked, eyeing the princess.

Olwen didn't say anything else as the royals approched once more. She narrowed her eyes, suspicious at what they were talking about. Atlis addressed the pair, the assassian still watching them. There was something off and unusual about them, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it. For the time being, she waited to see what they would say.
The young man smiled at his sister before heading back to his seat. Neither the assassian nor Atlis said anything for a moment. When he finally tool his seat, Atlis wondered if everything was okay. Bazil nodded. "Yes, everything's fine." The half-elf paused for a moment and finally sighed. He didn't want to pressure the other prince into anything, but they also had to get the assassian out. "Look, it's not our place to decide anything, but if you feel the need to go we won't stop you."

Atlis nodded, his heart heavy. He wasnt sure what him and Evanora had planned while they were in the corner, but hearing Basil say he was free to go brough sadness to him. He half expected them to fight for him. "I understand. I think it may be the best thing for now." He wanted to scream at Olwen for coming and ruining his plan. He wanted to fight with his Father for ruining his kingdom. He was worn out emotionally, and wasnt sure if he was ready to go back just yet. He wanted to get help, os to come back so soon with no one to help brought tears to his eyes. The young boy quickly wiped them away and stood up slowly. "Then if that is the plan, we best get going while the castle is winding down for the night."
Evanora nodded slowly, her eyes never leaving Atlis face. She saw pain, fear and sadness well up in his eyes, only to be blinked away in a heart beat. She admired how the prince could so quickly manage his emotions. When the young prince stood, she grabbed his hand and pulled him close to her. A little peck on the cheek and a soft smile is the only thing she could offer for comfort. "You'll always be welcome here." She said quietly.

Olwen carefully nodded. She wasted no time getting up and collecting her weapons. Everyone seemed on edge and she could hardly blame them. She was still percieved as a threat and they had no clue how skilled she was with her swords. She signled for Atlis to follow and headed back towards the closet where they could escape unseen. This is for your own good. Eadrid will know what to do, the young woman thought as she glanced at her former friend. They had to leave the royals, otherwise they would be drawn into a mess that wasn't theirs. Atlis at least had to run and Olwen would be there to buy him some time. Of course she knew the consequences of that, but it didn't matter. She wasn't important in the current situation.
Waves of regret and guilt washed over the young man as he watched Atlis. He could see his pain and sorrow. He could see the betrayal in his eyes. I'm sorry friend. We'll be right behind you. You will be safe, the prince silently vowed. He still didn't trust the assassian for a second. He didn't believe that she wouldn't kill Atlis the second they left. However he disliked accusing people without proof. The nest they could do was to follow them and find a way to get Atlis back before they crossed the border. His gaze drifted towards Olwen as she headed towards his closet study. He frowned.
"What are you doing?" The woman eyed Bazil for a moment before answering.
"Sneaking out through the closet passage."
"There's no...," the half-elf trailed off. "Is there really a tunnel that connects there?" The woman simply nodded but said nothing more on the subject. Had it not been for the current situation, Bazil might've actually been excited at the prospect. However he had to focus on helping Atlis. It was vastly more important. He continued to watch Olwen open the closet door and reveal a new passage. After a moment she turned back to Atlis.
"You ready?"

Atlis took a deep breath. The time was now, weather he liked it or not. Basils expression caught his eye before he stood. They shared their sorrows for a brief moment. Atlis stood close behind Olwen, watching her expose another secret tunnel in the castle. He nodded. "Its now or never." He stated, wiping his sweaty palms on his pants. The young prince turned and gave one last apologetic look at the two young friends he was leaving behind. He nodded his head and turned away, his body disapperaing into the dark tunnel.
As soon as Atlis had closed the door, evanora cleared her throat. "How do you plan to go about with this?" She asked, her arms crossing. "Father has ordered more guards around the land, and I would not put it past him for someone to have been appointed to us specifically." She headed towards the door. "If you want my opinion, i think we should get some food and extra clothes ready real quick." She didn't really know how this was going to work out, bu glad to have another adventure to go on with her brother.

A twinge of guilt pricked in Olwen's chest. She forced the feeling down. There was no place for feeling guilt at that time. She took a final glance towards Atlis and the royal siblings. The tension in the air was undeniable. She could sense the sorrow from everyone despite not being empathic. The redheaded prince followed closely behind the assassian. There would be no one in the passages. They would be out of the castle before anyone knew.
Bazil watched the pair leave, feeling powerless to stop them. The guilt only grew as they disappeared behind the door. He clenched his fists and sighed as Evanora spoke up. The half-elf turned to face her and regarded her words for a moment. She brought up a good point, but they only had so much time.
"Going for clothes and food isn't a bad idea, but I'm not sure we have the time." He paused for a moment and though it over. "Okay our rooms are close by. Let's meet in the kitchens in five to ten minutes. I think we should go through the kitchen passages. We can get some food on the way and see if we can follow them." He wasn't sure if his plan would work, but it was a start.

Evanora nodded and turned to leave. Her room was slightly farther than Basils. Her fast little legs carried her swiftly down the hall and into her room. She carefully opened the door and closed is as softly she could. She looked around for something light to put a few things in. She lifted the skirt of her bed and found a light leather satchel with her royal symbol engraved on it. Her mother gave it to her right before she became ill and never left her own chambers. Evanora pressed her nose into a fold of it and drank in the warm scent of lavender and leather. Memories flooded her mind, causing her to forget the mission that was at hand. After a few moments, she rose to her feet and opened her closet. She wanted her canteen, a light jacket, gloves, and a change of pants. She had always kept a secret stash of english riding pants and top incase she needed them. Her father did not approve of her riding out in the woods, but she kept it a secret and did it ever once in a while.
After she grabbed the few things she needed, on her way out of the door, she grabbed her compass, just in case. She rushed to the kitchen, not wanting to let the assassin and Atlis get very far. If they were lucky, they would just be outside of the courtyard. The tunnels under the castle were complicated and with any luck, the two strangers would take their time.
Atlis drank in the wet stone scent around him, keeping a hand on the wall for stability. His mind whirled. If he were caught without Basil or Evanora, him and Olwen were likely to either be killed or put away. Dark thoughts muddied his mind as him and his old friend wavered through the tunnels. "How do you even know where to go?" The prince asked, his green eyes bright.

Olwen glanced back towards Atlis as he trailed behind her. Although it was dark, she could still see a little ways ahead of her. It was an innate ability, something to do with her father's side of the family. "I can see within the darkness. It's nothing like seeing under the light of a full moon or during the day, but it's clear enough for me to navigate." She didn't know if Atlis remembered the things she could do. She was chosen to be an assassian fifteen years prior and had to stop hanging around the prince as much four years after that. She was only eleven when that happened.
Bazil watched his sister enter her room just before he entered his own. After a moment he sighed and headed into his chambers. He didn't have much time to really consider what to bring. So he packed up a set of riding clothes and a simple outfit that fit with commoners. The half-elf then collected a travel bag that held materials for his various spells and some coins. He finally stuffed his clothing in the sack and slung it on his back. It wasn't much, but he didn't need a lot to bring along.
With everything packed up, the young man made his way to the kitchens. He was quick enough that the pair likely wouldn't be far into their journey. It was something he had at least hoped for. Bazil tried his best to avoid running into anyone. It would look suspicious if he was seen carrying a bag filled with clothing and other supplies for a trip. He knew his father wouldn't approve if he found out what his children were doing. Pushing the thoughts from his mind, the half-elf brazenly entered the kitchen. Most of the staff- which included the chefs -would be having their own meals and winding down for the night. He and Evanora wouldn't be spotted. Probably. The young man began to grab some food. A loaf of bread, some dried meats, a few pieces of fruit, and a small bit of cheese were all crammed into his backpack. The thing was noticeably heavy, however he could manage to carry it.

Evanora jogged her way into the just as Basil flug his bag of goodies over his shoulder. She huffed and stopped next to him. Excitement made her heart flutter like a butterfly in her chest. "Are oyu sure you want to do this?" She breathed, she hand tightening around the strap of her backpack. She was afraid to leave Atlis and Owen alone for very long, especially now that they had given her back all her weapons, there was no telling what she was capable of doing.
Atlis let his breath out silently. He was worried and scared, but for now he had to trust his old friend and follow along as though nothing was wrong. Olwens words tugged at a memory of his childhood. The two would spend endless hours hiding in different places in the castle when it was dark, solely because the two were fascinated with how Olwen was able to see so clearly in the dark. As they neared another turn, the smell of earth got increasingly stronger. All his senses were telling him that they were getting closer to being out in the dark woods on some side of the castle. "I remember." He stated quietly to his guide, letting her know that he was listening.

The assassian couldn't help but smile slightly. She could remember their games played in the darkness of the castle. Eadrid would sometimes play along in their various games. She could remember her own mother, who would rarely interact with her, and the Virelith king tended to disapprove of such things. It was unbecoming of a prince and an Asian should've known better than to use her skills for such things. Olwen quietly sighed and focused back ahead. They were nearly out. Eadrid would still be waiting in the forest beyond. She would know how to help. There was no sign of anyone else, which meant she and Atlis would likely be safe.
Evanora quickly joined the prince. The half-elf smiled at her as he finished packing away some food. It seemed she was concerned about what they were doing, questioning if he wanted to go through with it. Bazil locked eyes with his sister for a moment and smiled. "Yes I'm sure. Are you? You don't have to come along if you don't want to. I don't want to force you to do anything you don't want to." He didn't want to leave the princess behind to deal with whatever mess was made from Olwen and Atlis. However he also didn't want to force his sister into doing anything she wasn't comfortable with.

"Basil, you and I both know that the king and his wife would never miss me if I left." She stated harshly. The queen, her mother, had never spoken to her, and when she did it was short and sad. Evanora used to let it bother her a lot more than it did now, but she had come to terms with living each day for herself. "What god would it be if I was here alone. I wouldn't send you out to follow an assassin and foreign prince on your own. Wheres the fun in that." She teased. She headed to the door of the kitchen that led out into the forest. It was good that her and Basil kept their horses in a semi-private barn, away from those of the other castle workers, that way no one would spot them when they attempted to leave. "Lets go." She said finally.
Atlis followed closely behind Olwen, his hand still on the wall as he walked. Fear ate at him from the inside. He was going back to the place he had left for fear of his life. "Olwen. Hes going to kill me." He said, not wanting to hide the truth from her anymore. "You and I both know that." He grasped desperately for Olwen to deliver some sorrow and apathy, but he felt that it was all vain.

Olwen listened to her old friend's words. Even he could realize what his father was planning. How could I have been so foolish? She had to push the thoughts away. He was not going to be lead back to the king. His mother would keep him safe. And once he was safe, she would go back and face the king on her own.
"He won't," the woman said after a while. She wasn't sure if her words calmed the man or if he was convinced she was a liar. She wasn't sure which option she preferred. Instead she remained quiet and continued to lead them to the forest. After a while longer of travel, the pair reached the ancient door. Olwen carefully exited and looked around. There was no one out. With a relieved sigh, she motioned for Atlis to follow and proceeded to head into the forest. Occasionally she would glance back to make sure Atlis was keeping up. Once she was sure he was following, she headed into the forest. Eadrid, I hope you know that we're here.
-0-
Bazil grinned as his sister spoke, though a part of him felt bad for the girl. Their certainly cared and loved her. As for her mother...well the half-elf couldn't exactly find himself arguing with her. "Dad would miss you," Bazil said after a moment. "Anyway, you have a point. You want to come, I won't stop you." The prince smiled as he gazed at Evanora for a moment. He watched as the girl headed to the door and opened it. She was ready. With a quick nod, the prince headed out and motioned her to follow. He paused for a moment and took a quick look around. There were no guards in sight. They were likely clustered around the front of the castle or patrolling in a different area. He and his sister likely didn't have a lot of time, but they could leave before anyone noticed them gone. He signled for Evanora to follow before dashing across the yard towards the barn.
The stablehands would be gone for their evening meal. It would give the royal siblings plenty of time to escape with their horses. Heading into the barn, Bazil placed his things beside his horse's stall and began to grab saddles for the horses. Quickly he dressed Evanor's horse and strapped the riding saddle to the mount. He did the same for his own horse before hooking his belonging to the side of the beast. It wasn't long before he was packed up and ready to head into the woods. He looked towards Evanora for a moment.
"You ready?"

Evanora watched as Basil got both of their horses ready for their journey. He did it with such ease and quickness. After both of their horses were ready, evanora stuffed her bag into a pouch on her saddle and jumped onto the horses back. "Lets go." She said as she turned to lead her horse out of the stall. The moon was high in the sky, lighting the forest with a crips silvery light. She made sure to check that Basil was behind her before she went very far ahead.
Eadrid shuddered and forced herself to focus. She had linked herself to the large creature of flight, allowing her to see the things he would see when he was up in the sky. Since his scales were dark, night time was the perfect time for him to be out. She focused, allowing her body to draw in every aspect of the woods surrounding her. The brightness of the mood, the crispness of the cool air, the sound of the leaves as they rustled in the wind, and smell of recently wet dirt, and the sound of the different animals roaming. Suddenly an image flashed in her eyes. She could see. The animal had managed to find someone in the forest. She willed the animal to focus, asking him silently to get closer to the people.
When the creature had gotten someone closer to the travelers, Eadrid shuddered. It was definitely travelers, but they were not her children. She tried to focus but grew somewhat weary with the effort it took to see through a different creature. Before she knew it, she collapsed on the branch, her body tired.

The pair travled for nearly half an hour through the woods mostly in silence. Olwen could barely contain her excitment and anticipation at the thought of seeing Eadrid again. The current situation would be mostly cleared up. Most importantly of all, Atlis would be safe with the ex-queen. Once he was take care of, Olwen could by them some time, maybe even get the Virelith king off his son's trail. It was the best she could hope for at least. She wasn't even sure how she would go about protecting them yet, but she had enough time to figure it out. Turning her attention back towards the path ahead, the young woman realized they were close. As the pair neared the clearing, Olwen paused and looked at Atlis. She locked eyes with the redheaded prince. It was her first time doing so since she ran into the prince. She could see the sadness and betrayal in his once happy green eyes. A fresh wave guilt washed over the assassian.
"Listen, Atlis. I'm going to ask you for a big favor, okay?" She paused for a moment. She wasn't sure how he'd react to her pleas of trust. Perhaps he would try to run. And then what? She chases after him and makes the situation only worse? Atlis and Eadrid never reunite? Olwen sighed before continuing. "Please trust me. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm not here to betray you. Just please, trust me and understand that whatever happens is to help you." There was almost a pleading in her voice as she spoke. A vulnerability she revealed through her words. She had no way of knowing if he'd believe what she said. All she could do was hope. Hold onto a simple, blind hope.

Evanora stuffed her things into her saddle bag before mounting her horse. The princess was ready to leave and the half-elf could hardly blame her. He wanted to help the other prince as much as she did. He smiled before following the girl into the quiet woods. Above the moon was full and gave off a brilliant shine, lighting their way. Even if Bazil didn't exactly need it, the light was certainly helpful for Evanora. Bazil had gone on night rides before. None were as important as the one now. With the princess leading the way, the young man kept an eye out on everything behind them. Of course, there were the usual creatures that lurked around in the darkness. Most were harmless. Some were not and those were the best he was worried about.
As they road along through the silent woodland, Bazil felt peaceful and calm. Despite their current situation, he felt at ease. Them something caught his eye just behind him. It was a dark, nearly-black flash that appeared almost bird-like. By the time he could look behind him and focus, whatever it was seemed to have vanished. He sighed. Either he was seeing things or they were being watched. he wasn't sure which unsettled him more. Turning his attention back up ahead, he continued to follow Evanora through the woods. They would hopefully reach Atlis and Olwen soon enough.
