The young man smiled at his sister as she shooed him off. He quietly entered the hall and took a quick look around to make sure he was alone. He didn't notice anyone. It appeared he was alone. The young man began to head towards the king's court. It was up to Bazil to tell his father about Atlis and their current situation. He wasn't exactly sure how to go about that yet. Bazil knew one thing for sure, it would be an interesting conversation between the two.
The half-elf quickly reached his father's court. Along the way, he hadn't run into anyone and had seen very few people around. Before he entered the room, he patted down his clothing and brushed a hand through his hair. He wanted to look as normal as he could before he entered in. He looked through the room for a moment. There were a few guests holding court with the Zettan king. Bazil waved to his father, trying to get his attention. He didn't want to interrupt his father's meetings, but he needed to know about Atlis.
-0-
"I know what you are."
The words were harsh and cold. Her voice dripped with hatred and her eyes revealed a deadly intent for the young woman. To make matters worse, the woman saw past her messenger lie and knew she was an assassian. How? She thought as she eyed the woman. Olwen knew one thing about the stranger. She hated the assassian and now was crying. The ivory-skinned assassian had now idea what she did to earn the woman's loathing.
Before she had a chance to get a word in, the young woman's attention turned upwards as the sky went dark. An unknown creature flew overhead and was big enough to block out the sun. Olwen was beginning to become frightened, though she didn't show it. The strange woman spoke again. Olwen paled as she spoke, millions thoughts running through her mind.
"Ea-Eadrid?!" The assassian didn't want to believe it. The queen had been dead for three years! Or was supposed to be at least. However as she looked at the woman, the familiarity made sense. It was the queen. She wanted to give the woman a hug, but the venomous look in her eyes deterred that. At the mention of Atlis, Olwen furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Bring him to his death? You should know me better than that! I would never bring someone home to their death, let alone Atlis of all people!" In their youth, the two had been friends. Of course their separate duties caused them to drift apart as they got older, but she could never kill him. That brought a distressing through to her head. Is that what the king and head assassian had planned when they sent her on the mission? Was she really going to bring him home, only to have him murdered? She glanced back towards Eadrid and locked eyes with the qoman.
"I understand you're going through a lot right now. But please you got to believe that I would never lead Atlis to his death." There was a plea in Olwen's voice as she spoke to the queen. She desprately hoped the woman would listen, would understand that the assassian wasn't going to kill her son.

Atlis and Evanora sat in the study anxiously waiting for Basils return with good news. In the mean time, Evanora thought it would be fun to try to teach Atlis some of the ways of their kingdom, just in case he was granted permission to stay. "SO of course, you wont be wearing the clothe you have on right now, solely because I have never seen something so cheaply made." She let out a loud laugh and slammed a book down in front of Atlis. "Even our maids here dress and smell better than that!" Se wanted to be friends with Atlis, he seemed like a nice kid. Atlis smiled, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. "I tried to find the crappiest outfit I could so I wouldn't get caught." He shuffled his feet, thinking about how Basil healed him with a simple touch of his hand. His head shot up with a sudden thought. "Wait, your Basils sister-" He barely got the words out before Evanora cut him off. "Good job Atlis! We're finally learning something!" She laughed, her eyes creasing at the edges. He roled his eyes and finished his statement, "But can you heal people too? Like, do you have powers also??" The question kind of stung Evanora. She had been asked that most of her life by those in the castle. She looked down and shook her head. "If I can I haven't figured out how to yet."
Eadrid looked Olwen up and down. A burning in her chest continued to grown slightly as the assassin defended herself. After Olwen was finished talking, she allowed her self to relax slightly. "I am not dead, obviously, the king tried his best to rid of me when he knew that the was not going to be able to rule the way he is now with me by his side. And since divorce was unheard of in our kingdom, killing me and making it seem like an accident was the best option apparently." She thought back to when her and the king were on a leasuily hore back ride in the forest by the border of their kingdom. There was always that huge cliff that jutted out a few ways down where she would take Owlen and Atlis when they were children to play in the stream that was near there. Who knew that such a beautiful place would become such a tragic part of her life. As Owlen told her how she was just told to bring the boy home, her eyes narrowed. "I know the king, and I know his intentions with my son. If he knows he's gone, there wont be a 'coming home' For him." She let her shoulders relax as Olwen spoke.
The king let out a loud snort as he listened to the guests spoke, the nonsense that was coming out of their mouth was almost too much for him to handle. His saving grace was seeing his son stand in the door way, waving to get his attention. With a loud booming voice, the king spoke. "Alright, we will have to conclude this session at a later time. My children need me." A huge smile crossed his face as he waved Basil into the court room. He looked at his son up at down. Hid clothes seemed extra dirty today, as though he'd been running through the woods. He shrugged the thought off with maybe him and Evanora were up to no good again, bunt that never was a concern of his. As the group of commoners were escorted out of the presence of the king, he singled for Basil to come closer. He rubbed his hair, making it mess. "Whats up chunk?" He asked, looking at his son. "Come to tell on Evanora again?"

(It's the perfect time for that.)
His father noticed him. That was a good sign. He dismissed himself from the court to some grumbling and annoyed expressions, but it didn't phase the king. The man approched Bazil with a warm smile. Although his father was happy, the prince was still concerned about talking to him. He didn't know how to explain to the king about their visitor. Drawing in a breath, the half-elf offered a reply.
"I wish I was. I have some different matters I wanted to speak with you about, however. Do you mind if we take a walk to my study?" He waited for his father to reply, snapping quietly beside him.

The ex-queen studied the assassian for a moment. Olwen held her breath as Eadrid continued to look over her. After a moment, she seemed to relax if only slightly. "Yeah you aren't deas unless I'm going mad." The assassian paused and stepped forward lightly. "Why didn't you come back? The kingdom misses you it...it needs you." Olwen was loyal to the crown. It was what her training entailed. But even she had to admit things were not good in the kingdom.
Eadrid spoke again. She spoke about her husband with a bitterness. Even worse than when she talked to Olwen earlier. The queen mentioned that Atlis wouldn't simply be going home. The assassian didn't want to believe she was bringing the prince to his death, but if the king had the capacity to kill his wife, he could easily have his son killed too. As she glanced at Eadrid for a moment, a realization came upon Olwen. She clenched her fists as her blue eyes danced with anger.
"They were using me?!" She hissed. She was not informed of the intentions with Atlis. Olwen was only told to bring the man home.

The king squinted at Basil. His son seemed way more somber than normal, almost as if something was bothering him. "Uh, yeah. I suppose." He said, rising to his feet. The king waved away the guards, not wanting them to follow. It seemed as though his son really needed his attention. "Is your sister alright?" He asked, hoping that Evanora was alright. He wasnt sure what his son needed, but there were two things he was sure of, The castle was not in any danger, and his son was safe, that's all thats really mattered. As they rounded the corner into the study, he heard Evanora talking. He paused, waving for Basil to stop. He just wanted to see what she was saying. Catching bits and pieces through the think oak doors, his heart sank. She was talking about her up bringing... but with who? There was a voice he didn't recognize in there. He looked at Basil and pushed his way through first. Seeing a strange man with his daughter made his face turn red. "Who is this?" He asked, gesturing towards Atlis. He took in every detail of the young red headed boy. His clothes were not from here, his eyes were bright, and his body was lean.
Eadrid took a deep breath to calm herself. How did she not realize... Olwen was one of the most loyal people in the kingdom. and as far as the king new, Eadrid was no longer alive. "Regardless of what I say, The king is the one who deserves your obedience." Her voice cracked with broken loyalty. She was wrong to ask the assassin to change her course of action, but her heart pulled anyway. "That's what THE KING does Olwen... He's a liar, and a thief." She didn't know how to word it nicely so the young girl would understand without being broken, she was practically the girls mother. The dark shadow over head let out a gut wrenching noise and flapped it large wings. Eadrid rolled her eyes and called back in a loud screech. Almost immediately, the shadow was gone, and the evening sun returned.
Atlis laid a hand on Evanoras leg. "What do you mean?" He asked quietly. This was obviously a sensitive topic for the young girl, and he didn't want to over step his boundaries. "I've always been different." She said, sighing loudly. things between her and Basil had never been bad, but the rest of the family always seemed to look at her differently. "Ever since I was a little girl. My mother, the queen, stopped coming around... She never held me, kissed me lightly on the forehead like she does Basil. I don't think I've ever heard her say she loved me..." Evanora held back the tears that were welling on the brim of her eyes. "If you look at me and Basil, we don't really look alike at all. I've never had any magical abilities, but for some reason they seem to come naturally to him..." Atlis nodded his head in understanding. Though he could see that this was exceptionally hard for Evanora, Atlis couldn't relate. His mother loved him, his father loved him, his siblings were similar enough that it was almost annoying. Before Evanora could really finish her sentence, Someone pushed their way through the doors. Evanora and Atlis stood up, dusting their clothes off once they realized they were in the presence of the king. When the king spoke to Basil, the words stung Atlis. He did look gross, and out of place here next to the other royals. His eyes locked on Basil. He needed to know if he should run or if things were too late.

"Yes, Evanora is fine. She's in my study actually." Bazil quietly led his father through the hall. They were almost to his study and he hadn't brought up Atlis yet. Drawing in a breath, Bazil glanced at his father. "I have something to tell you. This morning while I was out riding, I came across a travler. I brought-" His words were cut off by his father signaling him to stop. Down the hall, the prince could hear his sister's voice echoing through the hall. Before the half-elf had time to react, his father headed towards the study and opened the door.
Bazil paled. He quickly followed behind he asked about the prince, clearly not all that happy. His father sounded angry and Bazil could hardly blame him. Atlis was alone in the study with his sister. The king was quite protective of his children. I should've seen that coming, the half-elf scolded silently. The prince slipped past his father into the room. He stood between the king and Atlis.
"This is what I wanted to talk to you about. I met this man in the woods. He was fleeing from Virelith and I snuck him into the castle. His name is Atlis and he's actually a prince of the kingdom." He paused for a moment to let his father process the information.

The older woman was a bit inconsistent to the assassian. One moment she was telling Olwen to obey they king and the next she was telling the assassin how the king was a liar and basically couldn't be trusted. The ivory-skinned woman didn't know what Eadrid wanted from her. She barely knew what to do herself. The only thing she knew for certain was she was going to protect Atlis. He was her friend and if the king was truly going to have him killed, she wouldn't allow that to happen.
As she gazed at the former queen, the creature above screeched and flapped around. Olwen put her hands to her ears to desperately block out the noise. She caught Eadrid rolling her eyes then calling back to the thing. The strange animal disappeared and light filled the forest once more. The assassian slowly adjusted herself to the light as she put her hands back down. What had happened to Eadrid in those three years? She could ask about that later. The young woman was quiet for a few moments, deciding what to do next.
"So what should we do? Find Atlis and go from there?"

The king stood staring at Atlis, his hand still on the door handle. His grip loosened as his palms began to sweat. A Prince from Virleth...We snuck him in... His sons words seemed to echo through his mind. He felt his face flush with anger, then pale with fright. He slowly turned to his son and looked down on him. "Do you realize what you have just done?" The king spoke very slow, making his words as pointed as he could. "Bringing in a Price of another kingdom for ANY reason could get us all killed...." His voice trailed off. His forehead was decorated with little beads of sweat that slowly ran down into his eyes, making them red. He didn't know what to think. He didn't want to say anything in front of the foreign price, yet he felt like he may need too. He stood, waiting for an explanation from Basil.
Eadrid stood and looked at the young girl in front of her. "Im not sure..." She said almost as if she was thinking to herself. "What will you do if the king finds out you disobeyed his orders?" She almost smiled when she said this. Rebellion had become a way of life for her, not so much like her husband tho. She enjoyed her freedom from royalty, She had no one to answer to except herself or mother earth. She flicked her fingers, a thought coming to her mind. "Maybe you could go get Atlis and bring him to me so e could speak before anyone made a decision?" She shrugged her shoulders.

His father was going through many emotions at once. Anger, concern, and then fear. Okay so he wasn't taking the news as well as the prince wanted. However he also wasn't taking it as bad as he could've been. That was at least a bit of a positive. After taking a moment to collect himself, the king finally managed out a question. Bazil winced as his father spoke. He was trying to help a runaway prince of course. However his father also had a point. The half-elf looked between his father, Atlis, and Evanora. The king trailed off from his words as sweat dripped from his face. After a tense silence settled over the room, Bazil finally spoke up.
"I apologize, father, but I don't regret my actions. I didn't know who Atlis was at first and he needed help. I'm not going to leave a weak travler out in the woods to get ambushed by the guards. Anyway, he was running from home and came to seek help from us. Doesn't that mean something? We have the ability to help Prince Atlis and that's what I was hoping of doing. Perhaps it wasn't the wisest choice, but I don't regret my actions." The half-elf had no idea if his words would work for his father. However he was determined to help Atlis is any way he could. It wasn't like anyone was after him. Probably.

The ivory-skinned woman watched Eadrid for a moment. She seemed to be forming a plan of action and mostly speaking to herself at first. Her attention was really captured when the former queen asked about the disobeyed ordered. The assassian bit her lip. She hadn't really thought about that yet. If she were caught, she would have a slow, painful death ordered by the king and done by the assassian leader. She was risking a lot by helping Atlis.
"I'll deal with it," she answered simply. It was all she could do for the time being, which she didn't like.
Olwen scratched her chin as the older woman offered a plan. "Yes, that could work. Give me a day or two and I can track him and bring him to you." It would be an easy enough mission. She would just have to find the man first.

Atlis squirmed uncomfortably in his seat. He didn't like the reaction of the king. He understood that if one of his siblings had snuck in a royal of another kingdom, his father would punish them both and then have a serious chat with the royals parents, possibly ending bad. He held his breath and looked at Basil. The boys face paled when he saw his fathers reaction, putting a cold dread in Atlis stomach. Maybe he was for coming here. He should've known better. This was bad. Dangerous. He put this whole kingdom in danger by being here. For all he knew, there could be search parties everywhere for him, making things harder for the king that stood in front of him. Evanora watched her father. She had never seen him so torn with emotion before. She wanted to help, but didn't know what to say. "It wasn't just Basils idea Daddy, I helped him." She spoke, not wanting Basil to take the whole blame for the problem at hand. Even tho she liked to pick on him, she was not cruel enough for him to take the whole blame, and possibly punishment that may follow this conversation. The king looked at Basil, his anger fading slightly into curiosity. A sense of pride welled up inside him. Was that a glimmer of hope in his eyes? He had raised Basil to help, to be passionate and caring, and the King was getting to see it in action right now. "Basil, I appreciate the fact that you want to help him, but unfotunatly, im not sure what we could do..."He needed to know more about Atlis and his situation before he could make a decision. He turned his attention to Evanora and Atlis, sitting on the couch. His response to Evanoras words was a soft pat on the shoulder. "As i would expect." He said gently. He walked slowly and sat on a seat across from Atlis. "Basil, why don;t you come sit and talk this through with me." He said kindly.
Eadrid looked softly at the assassin. Her training hadn't taken her kind heart from her, and for that she was grateful. "okay. I'll be here in the tree." She pointed up in the tree. The large thing that had previously covered the two had taken claim of a thick branch near the top. She was not ready to explain what she was, or what business she had with these magical beings.

Evanora spoke up, taking part of the blame. Bazil glanced at his sister, a feeling of gratefulness washing over him. He would definently owe his sister a favor later. He then turned his gaze towards Atlis, who seemed to be uneasy as he winced in the chair he was sitting at. His green eyes then wandered towards his father. The king seemed to think over their words for a moment. He seemed to visibly relax some. That was a good sign. As the king spoke, the prince slowly nodded along. Eventually the king gestered towards the chairs beside Atlis and Evanora and asked to speak with the half-elf. Bazil smiled and let out a soft sigh of relief.
"Yes of course. I think having a conversation about this will do us good," the young man agreed. He sat on one of the chairs feeling more confident about their current situation. He looked towards the other prince after he settled in. "I think we need to start from the top. Tell us why you decided to run when you did." Bazil already knew the prince's story. However the king did not. He had to be filled in on the details to get a better idea of the situation.

Olwen watched as the older woman ascended the tree and sat next to the strange creature. The assassian had many questions for Eadrid, but now wasn't the time to ask. With a quick nod, the ivory-skinned woman began to head back towards her path. She was determined to find Atlis and get him safely back to his mother. She had no idea how he would react to any of it, but hoped it would be calmly. As she tracked her way through the area, the sun was heading down. Being in the forest made everything dark quicker. However Olwen was blessed with the ability to see in the darkness somewhat. It was for that reason she was able to catch up to Atlis so quickly.
In the not-too-far distance, she could see the castle shadowed as the sun set. She was close to him. He would likely be in the town, assuming he hadn't been caught by any guards. The assassian turned her attention towards the ground. She would be able to pick up footprints or some sign of Atlis. It didn't take Olwen long to find just that. Red hairs and footprints lead her closer towards the castle. Unlike her he wasn't trained in covering his tracks, so he would be easy to find. As the sun was barely over the horizon, the assassian finally found an clearing of interest. There was the obvious impression of hooves and a change of footprints.
The young woman began to follow the trail. After a while, it led her to the castle. He had been taken into the heart if the kingdom, which was risky. She had no idea who he was with or how much danger he was in. She was going to have diffculty getting. However it would be nearly impossible to sneak Atlis out.

(I notice tha you post on mobile a lot. Props to you dude, i would have so many typos it would be a nightmare to try to read. lol)
Atlis shifted uncomfortably as the crowd turned their attention to him. He felt his stomach churn as if he was going to be sick. He shut eyes tightly for a moment, only to open them and look at Evanora. He didn't want to look at the king yet, for fear that his eyes may betray him. He took a deep breath and began his story. "When I was young, things in the kingdom were good. My family was thriving, our kingdom was doing well, people were celebrating new highs, businesses were booming, and we would celebrate many victories of maintaining peace with our neighboring villages and kingdoms. Sadly, this victory was soon ended when my mother died on a tragic horse riding incident. My father came home heart broken. Its was a tragic moment in the kingdom." Atlis paused, looking from Evanora to Basil and then lastly at the king. He was uncomfortable with telling the secrets of his kingdom, but it was needed for him to receive help from these royals. "Not long after my mother was mourned, things turned dark in our kingdom. It seemed as though people had lost hope. There was no sense of happiness anywhere. People were angry, and mean..." He shuttered as he recalled a few time walking through the valley of his kingdom. Children would throw rocks as they would make their way out of the castle. "Since I was so young at the time, I didn't realize what was happening. My father was becoming a tyrant. Staling peoples money, raising taxes on unnecessary things, taking food that didn't belong to us." Atlis looked to the ground. Shame filled his chest. "My father tried to show me how to kill people, telling me if they we're not going to listen, that this was the only way to help them..." He rubbed his eyes and looked outside the window as if he was watching all these things play out. "It had gotten so bad recently. My father is killing children, taking people houses away from them, stealing and pillaging for fun. He took me out and made me promise to run the kingdom as he was when it was m y time to ascend to the throne." He shuttered. The thought of reigning as his father was made him sick to his stomach. "It was then that I knew I had to do something about it. I couldn't stay there. I needed to find help." Atlis stopped his story there. He believed that were enough for the king to decide to either help or ask him to leave. Evanora listened intently to Atlis. This was the first time she heard his story. She felt her heart break for the young prince. He had been through so much in such a short amount of time, she wished she could do more for him. She wiped a tear from her eye and looked at her father, pleeing with him silently. The king sat in silence. Atlis words weighed heavy on him. He needed help. his father needed help. His kingdom needed help, but how? This was no easy feat for him. there was no way he alone could alleviate the situation. He needed time to think. "I do greatly sympathize with you." were the only words he could muster for the time being. Eadrid watched the young girl leave. Her heart yearned for her to find her son. It was a possibility that they may never see each other again, especially since she walked right into another kingdoms territory. She took a deep breath and waited.

Atlis was clearly uncomfortable with talk about his kingdom. He squeezed his eyes shut briefly before glancing toward Evanora. As he spoke, Bazil carefully listened along. It seemed his mother was a beloved queen and that things began to go downhill after her death. Perhaps the Virelith king had gone made with grief after his wife's passing. It seemed like the most logical if not unfortunate answer. For a moment, Bazil had thought of his own mother. She was an elven woman who had a brief romance with his father. He was quite young when he had been sent to live with his father, only the age of five. He had met the king a few times before then, but it was an unusual change. He was glad the king had taken him in, accepted him as his heir, and loved him unconditionally. Most people weren't so lucky.
The Virelith prince continued on with his story. Once again he described the crimes of his father about how he would murder children and steal from his own people. There were a few new details this time too. Hoarding food and becoming a tyrant, things sounded terrible. When the other prince had finished his tale, the half-elf glanced between the three people in the room. His father finally spoke up, giving words of sympathy to Atlis. It was a diffcult situation and they would have to tread it catefully.
"What can we do to help? I assume that's why you had come to thecastle, to seek guidance from us." Bazil was more than willing to help the travler already. Atlis seemed like he needed it for the sake of his kingdom and his own.

The king held his hand up, a gesture for the room to fall silent. He looked at Atlis, his heart filling with grief for the young prince. "For now, all we can do, young prince, is give you a place of refuge while me and my men try to come up with a plan of action to help. Fortunately for you, I knew your father a long time ago. When we were young princes, much like you and Basil." The king flashed a glance at Basil. Was there humor and understanding in his eyes? One could not tell for sure. "I understand the situation a little better, but now I must think." The king rose to his feet and walked slowly to the large window. "It would be a real shame if someone came looking for you." He muttered, mostly to himself yet loud enough for the young royals to hear him from behind.
Atlis felt excitement bubble up inside his chest. He felt like he could run for days and never get tired. This was hope. This was peace. The king wasn't going to throw him out, or have him killed. He wasn't sending him home with the mark of a trespasser forever upon his skin. There no longer was a fear of being accused of treason- at least not in this castle. For now, he could rest. He could be himself again. He looked down at his feet and smiled. He let out a sigh of relief and looked gratefully up at Basil. "i came for help, and I may have just found it." He thought, hoping Basil would catch his thought-waves.
Evanora let out a high pitched squeal and jumped to her feet. Grabbing her silk dress with her hands, she spun in circles up to the kings side. "Father, If anyone is coming to look for Atlis, they will have a hard time getting past the guards alive." She patted him on the back, smiling. In her mind, everything was solved and everything was going to be alright. Little did the group know just what kind of troubles they would now encounter on he life of young Atlis.
Eadrid grew weary. The sun was setting, and things in the forest were beginning to cool off. She was a few miles away from her home, and her bones longed for the reassurance of her soft bed. She signaled for the dragon beast to fly out and look for Olwen. Once the beast understood, a large gust of wind ruffled Eadrids hair, a mark of the beast showing on her temples. As she closed her eyes, forcing herself into the mind of the dragon, her little scars began to burn. She could now see what the dragon saw. She searched for Olwen. The young assassin was good at covering herself. After a few moments of flight, the beast caught sight of Olwen. She was by the castle. Eadrids heart race sped up with excitement. She loosed herself from the dragons mind and slumped back onto the branch, sleep overcoming her weary body.

(I wish I could. Unfortunately it's understaffed and going at a snail's pace. And my sister has to be picked up in an hour and a half or so.)
