(okeydpley)
Strangely enough, Atlis felt no threat from the elvish man that now stood at his feet, instead he felt an odd sense of peace and calmness through him, kind of as though he was speaking with an old friend. "Well, I was born and raised in The Kingdom Of Virelith." He closed his eyes as he imagined his beautiful home country, the rolling hills, the large evergreens, the smell of pine and the flowing fields of wildflowers. Taking a deep breath a sudden change of scenery hit him. Bloodshed, bodies, feeling the shaking of the castle and things exploded at night, the eerie glow of fire through his window, the screaming of his father as he ordered more soldiers to go out. His eyes snapped open and he looked around. "My kingdom is unsafe, my family is no longer where they need to be as far as taking care of things properly." Atlis drew in a shaky breath. "When my mother died three years ago, my father began to be a tyrant, changing things my mother would never have approved of. Killing children, taking kingdoms out of pure boredom, he took the kingdom away from my older brother and gave it to an outsider..." Atlis trailed off, looking at Basil. He seemed to freeze with the sudden realization that he just openly admitted to being the heir of another falling kingdom.
Atlis sneakily tightened his grip on the reins, ready to bolt.

The prince found himself enjoying the chat with Atlis. The travler was rather friendly, especially now that he was less on edge. "Ah I've never been to Virelith, though I've heard its beautiful." Bazil had always stayed within the confindes of Zetta even though it bordered other kingdoms like Virelith. Most of that was due to over protective parents in his youth and responsibilities as he got older. Of course the recent hostilities also didn't help. Things weren't great in Virelith, which were only confirmed further by the travler's words.
The prince listened to Atlis as he continued, noticing a change in his tone. At first it was relaxed if not a bit on edge, now he sounded somber. Bazil listened as he described his family and state of the other kingdom. As he listened, he came to a realization. Atlis, it seemed, was related to royalty. A prince like him. Bazil pretended not to notice the slip up. Atlis was on his horse and had an easy way to escape. Beyond that he could help the travler and find out just what he was up to.
"Your family sounds rough. I know I'm a stranger, but I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can find what your looking for here."

(lol all good, I am not really on much after 4 because im not at work anymore so I dont have much free time D: )
Atlis took a slow deep breath. How could I haven been so stupid. He inwardly scored himself. He glanced at Basil and from his stance and demeanor, it seemed as though he was safe. For now. "Honestly, Im not too sure what I'm even looking for..." He decided to play things off as though he didn't just put his life and Basils in danger. Atlis took in his surroundings. They were getting closer to the castle, and he was starting to sweat. Princes have no reason to go to another kingdom unless your planning to take something that doesn't belong to you. My mother raised no thief. He thought, growing visibly uneasy.

(Ah I understand, though that really sucks.
I would've replied earlier but I took my driver's test and did not pass for a second time. But I am not disheartened. I will pass next time.)
The prince knew three things about Atlis. One, he had been traveling for a while. Two, he was not only from Virelith but a prince. And three he seemed like he needed help with something. The prince hoped he could help Atlis' problems, though didn't know how to yet. Bazil glanced back at the travler and offered a smile. "Well maybe a nice meal will help. Even if you still don't know what your looking for, at least you'll have a full stomach." He wasn't sure if it really would help, but who would say no to food?
Eventually the pair reached the palace. Bazil led the way to the stable. Peeking in, he noticed the stablehands were gone for a break. With a satisfied nod, he signled for Atlis to follow him. He made his way to the horse's stall and prepared it for her. Once she was secure, they would be able to sneak into the castle.

(Awe, It took me a few tries too. You got this!!)
Atlis paused briefly, waiting for the okay to go into the barn. Once Basil was satisfied with the area, Atlis had the beautiful horse step forward, following Basil. He took a deep breath, the smell of fresh hay and grains reaching his nose, soothing him. He followed behind Basil, leading the horse slowly. Once they reached the stall, Atlis jumped off the horse, handing the lead ropes to the rightful owner. With a quiet nod he stepped out of the way, glancing around the barn to take in the scene.
Awards. Battle awards. Atlis shuddered. what if we were natural born enemies. The thought urked him, knowing that his mother would have liked her kingdom to stay at peace with all her surroundings, to be a refuge to people who needed help and relief. Atlis dismissed the thoughts immediately. He needed to stop thinking about his former kingdom, he was no longer there.
He turned and clasped his hands behind his back, a princely stance taking over his posture. "I am ravished." He laughed.

(Yeah. As I said I'll get it next time.)
The man grabbed the bridle and brought the mare into the stall. Once she was secure, Bazil locked her up and began to lead the way out of the stables. It would be easy enough to get into the castle unnoticed.
Outside the barn there were few guards about. Those who were around were standing watch or talking with other staff members. They were distracted enough that they wouldn't notice the pair head into the palace. Bazil quietly strolled away from the staff and headed to a back entrance. It was hidden by bushes and some trees. While it was a bit diffcult to get to, it was well hidden and as far as he knew few people were aware of it.
Bazil struggled to move through the foliage. His feet would get caught on vines while branches tugged at his clothes. "This used to be si much easier to get through," he grumbled. Eventually he managed to fight his way through the plants and reach an old oaken door. He glanced behind him, checking on Atlis.

[I'll be on for a while tonight, thankfully lol. i really like this RP I had a dream about it last night xD]
Atlis followed as closely as possible, letting the leaves of the trees brush his hair, making it messy. He had always kept his self clean and precise, but since he was in a different kingdom, maybe a new look wasn't going to be so bad..."We have a few places like this back home, haha." He said with more effort than normal as he pushed back a large branch. He paused briefly and looked up at the castle that now stood in front of him. His heart ached for his past home, the peace and happiness he had. Atlis shook the thoughts away once again and stopped when he saw the oak door. "Yo sure?" He whispered, making sure Basil wasn't leading him to a sure death. He took a deep breath, taking in the smell of fresh bread being made. His stomach let out a loud rumble and his cheeks turned red.

[So I was thinking that since Atlis thought his mother died a few years ago, by word of his father, maybe later in the RP when we get the assassin involved, Atlis could run into his mother.]

(Ah cool and same here! I'm really enjoying Bazil's and Atlis' interactions. I also might do a small thing for Olwen in a few replies, though I haven't decided on it. Ah dreams are so weird, but was it a good one at least? Assuming you remember.)
"We have places like this everywhere. Even in the towns. It had something to do with the country's history, but I don't quite remember what it was. History isn't one of my strong suits." Of course that's what s ch molars are for, he mused silently.
After a moment of struggling with the ancient door, Bazil eventually got it open. He glanced towards Atlis and nodded. "I'm sure. Let's go." The prince took the lead as he knew the passage like the back of his hand. It was dark and cold, though the walk was short. Bazil was able to quickly lead them to another door, this one above them. Light and warm scents for the kitchen filtered through, which made the prince smile. Carefully he lifted the trapdoor and peeked through the crack. He didn't see or hear anyone. Pushing the door away, he proceeded to pull himself up and into the room. It was storage for ingredients like flour and salt, which was usually unattended.
"Coast is clear, let's get you up." The prince reached down to help the travler up.

Atlis heart race with the thrill of sneaking into the castle, he felt like a child again. Him and his younger brother would often sneak around, trying to find secret rooms, or to just sneak into places they were not allowed to go. Atlis let out a quiet chuckle and grabbed Basils hand, pulling himself up through the door. He sat on the floor for a second, crossing his legs. His stomach growled even louder now that he was closer to food.
"Do you have any siblings?" Atlis asked, a childish gleam in his eyes.
[Do you want me to bring in Basils sister now or wait??]

[also yes, most of the time I have pleasant dreams... but also they're really scattered and don't make a whole lot of sense. but the one I had about this RP was that Atlis found his mother and she ended up being a magical animal trainer in the middle of a cliff not too far from his kingdom, which I thought would be fun to maybe put that in there¯\_(ツ)_/¯.]

Once Atlis was in the room, Bazil pulled the door closed. Using his weight he made sure it was properly closed. As far as he knew, no one knew about the pantry passage and he would rather keep it that way. As Atlis collected himself, he headed to the door and cracked it open. Taking a quick glance out, he noticed some of the cooks were preparing food for other staff members and prepping for meals later in the day. They were distracted enough with the food that they probably wouldn't notice the pair. Closing the door, he turned back to Atlis.
"Alright we'll be able to sneak out easily enough. Probably." He paused for a moment when the travler asked about his family. He smiled as he thought of his sister. "Yes, I have a younger sister." He answered simply. Bazil wondered if they would come across her at some point. It was very likely they would, especially if he was going to tell Atlis he was a prince.

As soon as Basil opened the door, the strong smell of fresh food filled his nostrils. Atlis smiled and stood up, ready for the little adventure of getting food. "That's cool." He said when Basil mentioned his little sister. "You ready to do this?" He whispered, setting his backpack in a place on his back so that it wouldn't make too much noise when they went through. Evanora folded her nightgown on her bed and sighed in satisfaction. Things had been fairly quiet around the kingdom, and he longed for a new adventure. She open her satin shades and looked out of her window, the sun lighting up her eyes, gracing her skin. A little smile crossed her face as she turned to her large oak door that lead out into a large open foyer. She headed towards the kitchen in search of a mid-day snack; maybe some fresh jam and a nice warm piece of bread. Her feet graced the floor as she went down the winding stair case that let into the middle of the kitchen.

"Yeah, let's go." Bazil opened the door again. The chefs were still distracted with their work. The prince silently slipped out from the room and signled for Atlis to follow. No one seemed to notice them as they made their way through the kitchen. At the center of the room was a set of stairs. They could get out through that way if they were careful. Going out into the main dining area was risky and Bazil didn't know who could be in there.
"Alright, let's go through those stairs. If we're quick, quiet, and careful we will not get caught," the man explained. As he got ready to dash towards the stairs, he could see someone coming down. He held his hand up to stop Atlis from moving forward as he checked to see who it was. If it were his father, they would not be in good standing. If it was someone else, they would be fine. After a moment of watching, he saw his sister descend the stairs and enter the kitchen.

Atlis Froze, his hands full and his heart racing. He slowly raised his arms so the food in his hands covered his face. Please dont be someone important... he wined in his head. Evanora stopped when she saw her brother Basil standing in the kitchen with his arm up in the air as though he was signaling for her to stop. Her face scrunched up in disgust, making her nose all wrinkly."Can I help you...?" She said through thick disgust and annoyance. She often was cranky before she had something to eat, and seeing it was later than noraml, she was extra irritable. She had not noticed the other person accompanying Basil yet, and allowed herself to finish going down the last few stairs that were at her feet. Looking down at her feet she bumped right into Atlis. "Oof!" She let out a squeal of surprise and stepped back, turning to Basil for an explanation. "What is that?" She motioned towards Atlis. He did look rather scrawny and ragged since his travel in the woods.

Before Bazil had a chance to speak, Evanora ran into Atlis. The prince froze and quickly glanced towards the cooks. A few people looked up, then went back to their work. Either they didn't care or didn't want to talk to the cranky princess. He wasn't entirely sure which it was. Readjusting himself, he cleared his throat and tried to settle the situation. Turning to his sister, he offered a smile.
"Firstly you're being cranky. Secondly this is a person and a friend of mine at that." Bazil paused for a moment and gestered to Evanora. "Atlis, this is my sister. Evanora, this is my travler friend. Okay now that we're all caught up, we have things to do. So I'll see you around." Bazil wanted to get out of the situation quickly. The less questions Evanora asked the better.

(Not even gonna lie, I giggled out loud at Basils response. )
Atlis just stood Wide eyed at the two. He didn't want to say anything and he definitely didn't want to make the girl even more angry than what she already seemed to be, though her comment seemed sharp when referring to him. He tried not to react. Evanora looked at Basil, then at Atlis, and then back to Basil. Curiousity gleamed in her eyes. "Since when do you have friends." She teased, stepping out of their way. She new that Basil was up to no good with this weird looking boy, and she wanted to be a part of it. whatever it was. She turned her back and leaned over the wooden counter and began a conversation with one of the cooks. Atlis tried not to listen, but instead turned his attention back to the man who was leading him through the castle. He did catch a little word from the cook that Evanora was speaking too that sent chills down his arms and legs. Princess.... Instead of reacting, he played it off as though he heard nothing, hoping Basil didn't catch on.

(Honestly I did the same at Evanora's comment because that's how my siblings and I talk to each other.)
Bazil rolled his eyes. "I have friends...even if you haven't seen some of them in a while," he playfully retorted. He watched her for a moment as she spoke to one of the cooks. Instead of taking the opportunity to escape, he waited for his sister. He knew her well enough that she would want to know what he was doing with Atlis and why. It woul ultimately be better to bring her along then keep her out of the loop. It was especially true if she mentioned it to their father. He wasn't entirely sure how his father would react to bringing a stranger into the castle. He especially didn't know how things would fare if he found out Atlis was a prince for a hostile kingdom.
Bazil didn't pay as much attention towards Atlis as his sister talked to the cook. Between their conversation, he thought it'd be a good idea to bring her along. "So Evanora are you doing anything after this? Maybe the three of us could share a meal." He paused for a moment and turned to Atlis.
"If you don't mind my sister joining, of course."

(I love this )
Atlis' eyes got wide as Basil requested his sister to join them. His hands tightened around the food was holding. "No, the more the merrier..." He said, trying to sound happy.
Evanora turned, her mouth stuffed with bread, jam oozing out the corner of her lips. She giggled and swallowed hard. "Well of course I'm not doing anything and i'd love to go with you, you're not allowed to get in trouble with out me getting involved." She laughed and snagged another piece of bread with way to much jam on the top of it. She quickly grabbed a weaved basket and folded a little napkin inside. She stood back as she watched a cook work rather quickly placing fresh summer sausage, sliced cheese, a fresh loaf of bread, and a few other sweets in there for the princess to take with her. Turning around she grabbed the food out of Atlis hands and tossed them into the basket that was now draped over shoulder. "Where we going?"

(Same here! Also sorry for not replying sooner, the connection at my house stopped working and I had to go out.)
"Of course not!" He laughed. "I would never dream on getting into trouble without you present." Bazil glanced at Atlis. His tone did not match his words and a bit of guilt nipped at his chest. He was less than enthusiastic about having someone else with them. Of course he couldn't blame the travler for that. He had every right to be uneasy around a third person.
Turning his attention back towards his sister, he smile. "Excellent question dear sister. I have no idea! There's plenty of places in the castle, though so we'll find something." Bazil began to lead the way up the stairs. They would have to be careful with Atlis around, though they would be able to move around with relative ease. Bazil knew enough of the guard's movements that they could be avoided with relative ease. Besides that, there were plenty of placed for the group to hide. The library, small rooms that were uninhibited, or even one of the studies if they wanted to risk it.
