L O T T I E Nomad God
Breathing in, Lottie brought her shaking hand back down to her side. ”Breathe, Lottie, breath,” she told herself, closing her eyes as she tried to block out her surroundings, blocking out the noises of the bustle cafe and the people outside, blocking out her shaking hands and anxious sweat rolling down her forehead. She had to block it all out, she had to focus on her breath, that’s what was important here.
Lottie exhaled, curling up further into the corner of the booth she had grabbed for herself.
”Focus, Lottie,” she continued, forcing herself to calm down.
Everything was...was...far from fine, nothing was okay at all, but that...that wasn’t what she should focus on right now. Maybe she had...maybe she had misheard, that could be it...couldn’t it?
Eyes remaining closed, Lottie thought back to that morning, when everything had happened.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
It wasn’t all that often that Lottie visited the realm of the gods, it had really only happened once or twice throughout her life, whenever the gods decided to check in on her. Honestly she wasn’t sure why, maybe it was because they still expected her mortality to reveal itself at some point and have her fall dead. Whatever the reason was, this was one of those few times that the gods had invited her in.
”Funny, that your parents were able to conceive you, I would’ve thought only actual gods can do that,” Lottie frowned, taking special notice of how Euterpe said “actual gods” as she looked Lottie over. ”Honestly, I’m surprised you’re still around, I would’ve thought you’d have died by now,” she continued on, talking with little care for what her words could mean.
Lottie couldn’t resist giving the greek muse a look. ”How long do you think humans live?” Not that she was actually human to begin with, but by now it was just easier to accept that the recognized gods thought of her as one.
Euterpe shrugged, waving her hand around as if to emphasize that she really didn’t know or care. ”I dont know, five...ten years? How old are you?”
If the realm of gods had cameras, Lottie would’ve looked one of them directly in the eyes right now in an iconic “The Office” style. She could imagine it now, the camera would pan in close to her face and the poor cameragod behind it would be forced to see the pure amounts of doneness in her eyes.
Honestly, it was because of these interactions that Lottie sort of wished she wasn’t allowed in the realm of the gods. Despite them forbidding any of the fallen or new gods to enter their realm, they still seemed to enjoy butting their heads into their lives when they didn’t belong, all the while somehow maintaining a level of ignorance that had a way of rubbing Lottie the wrong way.
”I’m twenty, humans live a lot longer than that, you’d know that if you ever came to earth,” Lottie informed dryly, watching as Euterpe watched her, head tilted to the head as if silently wondering if what Lottie said was actually true. ”Plus y’know, maybe if you came to earth more often, we wouldn’t have to go over this every single time, seriously, all it takes is a quick five minute yeet to earth to figure out how I’ve progressed,” she continued, folding her arms.
Euterpe shrugged off her suggestion quickly, moving around her. ”Earth is so boring now that they don’t offer us sacrifices,” she dismissed. ”Besides, that wont be much of an issue soon anyways...” the muse muttered under her breath as she lifted one of Lottie’s arms up to look her over.
”What was that?” Lottie questioned, turning her head to look back at Eutrepe.
”Oh nothing, now, how has your music manipulation been coming along?”
Lottie took her arm away from Euterpe’s grip, avoiding eye contact as she looked around the...room, or at least thats what she assumed this place was, it was always hard to tell in the realm of the gods. ”I’ve been working on it more, I think I can finally play a few small enchantments,” she replied quietly. In truth, Lottie was nowhere near close to mastering her ability, despite how much progress she had thought she had made over the last couple of years. Admitting that to Euterpe was...not something she liked to do.
However the muse said nothing about it and simply nodded in response, letting out a thoughtful hum. ”Well, you seem to be progressing normally...no fangs, no double heads, haven’t turned into a monster yet so that’s good-“
“Wait,” Lottie interrupted, swerving around to look at the muse with big eyes. ”You thought I could’ve turned into a monster?” She questioned, gulping back a little. That could happen?
Euterpe waved her hand in response. ”It doesn’t matter, you’re free to go now though, we’ll check up on you again in a couple hundred years to see your improvement, okay?” She asked with a smile so strained Lottie wondered if they would be checking in or not.
However she just mumbled an agreement and grabbed her vest and her gloves, slipping on the black fingerless gloves over her hands, staring down at them for a second or two to admire the little music notes that decorated the pattern. ”I’ll just see myself out then,” she decided, giving one last farewell to Euterpe as she slid on the black vest and headed towards the door.
She had only been here a few times, and yet that was all it took for Lottie to become familiar with the layout of the realm of gods...or at least, the area she was allowed in. She had never really explored the entirety of the realm of gods - she wasn’t even sure it had an end to begin with...which was sort of counterproductive now that she thought about it - but she knew her way to the designated “Lottie exit” and thats what mattered here.
Just as she made her way over to the cloud like...portal...thing, Lottie stuck her hands in her pockets, prepared to pull out her earbuds and listen to some music on the way down, however when she placed her hands within the confinement’s of her vest pockets, they came back empty. ”Must’ve fallen out when I took off my vest,” she mused out loud, already turning back to go grab them.
Typically the recognized gods didn’t like it when she stayed longer than they had allowed her to, but listen, those earbuds had been to heaven, hell, and back, she was not about to lose them here...plus no one here would treat them right, those earbuds were like her little music children, she couldn’t leave them here where no one would appreciate them.
By the time she got back to the room, Lottie was about to fling open the door and head back in, not really expecting anyone to be there, however something made her stop just outside the door.
Voices.
Letting her curiosity get the best of her, Lottie creaked the door open ever so slightly, peaking inside, out of sight from the two gods talking inside, but capable of spying on them from where she was.
Euterpe was talking to another one of the muses, Melpomene, if she remembered correctly.
”Are you ready to go? I don’t want them to start without us, especially not with all those rumors about what this is about” Melpomene explained, arms folded as she looked the muse of music over.
Euterpe nodded in response. ”I’m coming, I was just waiting for that little nomad god to leave,” as she continued to talk, the two muses started heading towards the door, opening it as they walked out.
Lottie was fast enough to move with the door, now hiding behind it with her eyes shut tied, holding her breath. Something told her the muses wouldn’t like knowing she was eavesdropping.
”Barely god, more like it, are you sure she’s even immortal?” asked Melpomene.
”I’m not sure, she’s sort of fun though, and so young too, like a baby, it’s a shame that if the rumors are true, she might not make it,” Euterpe responded, making Lottie pause.
Now typically, hearing about how young she was in comparison to the other gods would get on her nerves, however even that paled in comparison to what she had just heard.
”Rumors? What rumors?”
Before she could find out more, the two goddess had left hearing distance, happily chatting away as they headed off to who knew where.
Lottie stayed where she was for a few more moments before quietly pushing the door out of the way and looking over towards the goddesses walking away in the distance.
She glanced back inside the room, eyes landing on the pair of earbuds resting on the floor.
Grab them and leave. Thats all she had to do...thats all she probably should do, to be honest; and yet...
Lottie looked back to the direction the goddesses had disappeared.
In hindsight, the next thing she was about to do was either going to be the best or worst decision of her life.
Grabbing her earbuds out of the room, Lottie took off after the two muses, only slowing once they were back in her sight.
This was further than she had ever been, the comfort of familiarity had long since left her once she began to follow the muses, going deeper and deeper into the realm of the gods, it would be easy to get lost if she wasn’t careful, but that wasn’t on her mind right now. She was on a mission, and she wasn’t about to forget about it now.
Finally, a large, ancient looking stadium came into view, and with it, other gods from all parts of the world moving inside.
Lottie ducked out of the way as the gods became more visible. She couldn’t risk getting caught anymore, now it wasn’t just the muses she was dealing with, and honesty - Lottie looked over to see a large, scar ridden god push his way past the others - she doubted some of these gods would be as understanding as the muses if she got caught.
Deciding it was safest to go in after the other gods had already entered the stadium, Lottie stayed where she was.
Once it had been awhile since a god had approached, Lottie looked around and rolled out of her hiding spot, glancing behind her just to double check someone wasn’t watching before starting off towards the stadium.
Maybe it was a good thing the ream of gods didn’t have security cameras after all.
Heart beating in her chest, Lottie pressed her back against the stone like material as she inched closer to the stadium, finally back within hearing range to get a vague idea of what was going on...even though right now it was mostly just everyone talking over each other.
Finally able to actually see what was going on, Lottie peaked her head out from her spot in the stadium, just out of view from the other gods. The leaders of the gods were sitting in the front, while all the other gods sat in the stadium, all talking over each other. From where she was, she could see the front gods better than the others.
There was Zeus, Odin, Ra, Indra, and some that she couldn’t quite place all stood at a table, none looking too happy to be there.
Finally, the other gods settled down, allowing a tall, slim, hooded figure in red, white, and black to step up. ”First, I’d like thank you all for coming-“ his hoarse voice was cut off by loud, sickly coughing coming from the hooded figure.
”Oh get on with it, Anu, unlike you, some of us have empires to get back to,” came the annoyed, booming voice of Zeus, it was as loud as thunder and shook the stadium. Lottie covered her ears in response, cringing slightly from the noise.
Shooting a glare at Zeus, the hooded figure - Anu - continued, forcing his coughs to stop. ”Don’t talk down to me, Zeus, I was here long before you had existed, you sit on a throne I paved the way to, you have no right to talk to me like I am lesser than you, I was you,” he snarled out in a low, deep voice.
Zeus didn’t seem phased, instead he merely leaned closer to Anu. ”You were barely worshipped even when you held the throne, and now?” He paused, pointing his nose up. ”Now you are nothing more than a shadow of your former self, it won’t be long before you fall.”
His words must have hit a nerve for Anu for as soon as he was done, the ancient god pulled a staff from his cloak and pounded it against the ground, causing a loud thump to echo through the stadium.
Lottie closed her eyes, bracing herself for whatever was to come. She wasn’t sure what she expected to happen exactly, but she was dealing with the gods here, anything was possible.
However what she wasn’t expecting was for a sort of...warmth to wave over the stadium, a sense of stillness taking her over. Lottie hesitantly blinked open her eyes, looking around in awe at what she was met with.
The white, slightly starry sky had been replaced with millions of stars and galaxies lighting the sky, it was like the universe itself had been summoned to the stadium.
It took everything in her power not to reach up and touch one of the fiery stars.
Instead, Lottie turned her focus back to the gods, watching as Anu reached froward and gripped at one of the stars, crushing it in his ghastly hand, only releasing it once the star had collapsed in on itself, dusting off his hands as if it had been nothing. ”Do not underestimate my power,” he ordered, turning away from Zeus to face the gods in the stadium.
This was the first time Lottie was able to get a glimpse of his face underneath the hood.
It was...cracked, as if an earthquake had gone across his face, leaving the remains a second away from crippling into dust. ”I will not lie to you, I am being forgotten...we all are,” he paused for a moment. ”Before long, most of us will fall, the humans on earth are ungrateful, they do not care if we live or die, no, instead they want their freedom, they want to mock us, destroy us, render us useless-“ this caused an outrage among the other gods and it wasn’t long before they were all talking over each other again.
Anu pounded his staff against the ground again, getting the others attention. ”Before you tie yourselves in a knot, let me finish,” he demanded, which seemed to be enough to get the rest of the gods to quiet down. Anu waited until there was silence before nodding in approval, walking through the universe he had brought to the stadium. ”What if I told you that there was a way to no longer rely on humans to keep our titles? That there was a way to stop any of us from falling ever again?” He waited for a moment or so as a ripple of muttering echoed throughout the gods.
Finally, one of the ones Lottie didn’t recognize spoke up from the crowd, brow raised as she looked Anu over. ”How?”
That was enough for Anu, he smirked, turning away from the crowds. ”Simple...we start over,” he said in a low growl. ”I have discovered a way to last even longer than what remains of me on earth, and with your help, I can assure all of you that soon, you wont need to rely on humans either...” Anu paused, reaching out to the earth like planet floating in the vast universe in front of him ”All I need you to do is destroy the world we once ruled at our fingertips,” he explained, crushing the planet in his hand like he had done with the sun before.
”Why should we believe you?” Zeus questioned, standing up from his seat to point an accusatory finger at the other god. ”We all know you wont survive the coming years, you probably just want to drag the rest of us down with you,” he accused, glaring over at Anu. ”Besides, if you’re so powerful, why don’t you just destroy the world already?”
”Because it’s not finished yet, you idiot,” Anu snapped back at Zeus. ”I need more time before I can complete this, all I’m asking for is that you help me, and then when the time comes and the earth is destroyed, I’ll let you side with me when I create a new world, one that will never forget about us.” As he spoke, more talking began to fill the stadium as the gods discussed the proposition between themselves.
After a few minutes, the gods at the table spoke up.
”We have considered your proposition, and we are...willing to give it a try, and you are sure that once you are done, we wont need the humans any longer?” Asked Indra, eyeing Anu suspiciously.
Anu smiled deviously in response. ”Oh I’m certain,” he started, resting his hands on his cane. ”Once I’m done with, earth will be nothing more than dust blowing in the wind and we will remain just as powerful as we all were in our prime.”
This is usually where any smart person would keep quiet and get out of there as fast as physically possible.
However, as it turns out, Lottie is not a smart person.
Unable to stop herself, Lottie felt her mouth open and before she knew what was happening, a sharp, hissed out ”what-“ had escaped her.
A deathly silence fell over the stadium.
Lottie’s heart dropped into her stomach like a pit.
Well, it was time to make her leave.
Hurrying up to her feet, Lottie did her best to sneak out unnoticed, however as she stood up and dusted off her clothes, she looked up to find about a billion eyes on her.
She gulped. ”...Hi, you uh, you wouldn’t happen to know where the bathrooms in this place are, would you?” She asked sheepishly.
The other gods did not seem amused.
Whispers spread like wildfire throughout the crowd of gods.
”Isn’t that an earth god?”
”Yeah, she’s that little nomad god isn’t she, what’s she doing here?”
”She heard too much, she can’t be allowed to leave.”
Lottie gulped again, rubbing the back of her neck. ”Yeah, I can see you are all very busy, I’ll uh...I’ll just find them by myself,” she reassured, beginning to walk away.
Anu clasped his hands over his staff, sharp yellow eyes meeting hers for the briefest of seconds as she tried to make her leave. ”Get her,” he ordered in a low, cold voice.
That’s when Lottie knew she had to get out of there.
Bolting on her feet, Lottie rushed down the stairs of the stadium, heart pounding so fast in her chest she could barely breathe.
She didn’t dare look back, afraid of what she’d see if she did.
She couldn’t...she couldn’t outrun all of them, there were too many of them, and they were actual gods, with their full power, she was just...she was just Lottie, and that wouldn’t be enough to get her out of this.
Tripping, she tumbled down the remaining stairs, which...actually might’ve gotten her a little further ahead than the others, however she didn’t wait to find out and instead hurried to her feet and continued running. She had no idea where to go, or if she could actually escape this, but she had to try.
Barely letting her feet touch the ground, Lottie ran faster than she ever had in her entire life, desperately looking around for somewhere to go, something that looked vaguely familiar, yet there was nothing.
Thats when a hand grasped her arm and tugged her off to the side.
Lottie closed her eyes, fully expecting to be dragged back to the others.
However instead, she was led further away from the voices.
She dared to open her eyes, blinking in surprise when she saw Euterpe dragging her away down a path hidden from the main roads. She held a finger up to her lips. ”Shhh,” the muse told her, guiding her further and further away from the other gods.
Lottie didn’t dare speak, thats what had gotten her into this whole mess to begin with.
As Euterpe lead her further away, the scenery began to become familiar to Lottie, it was the the way to the exit.
Lottie looked around in confusion, glancing towards the muse of music for some sort of explanation, however before Euterpe could even begin to explain, noises could be heard and with a shove, Euterpe pushed Lottie behind a block of the cloud like substance the ground was made of.
”Euterpe, I was wondering where you went, have you seen that nomad god?” Asked the voice of Melpomene.
”...Yes,” Euterpe started and Lottie breathed in a hiss. This was it, she was about to get caught. ”I chased her this way and she escaped, but really it doesn’t matter, does it? She’s practically a human, she cant stop us, what’s the harm in leaving her be?” She questioned innocently.
Melpomene paused for a second or so before humming in agreement. ”I suppose you’re right, what harm can she do anyways? Come on, lets head back,” she suggested.
”I’ll join you in a minute, i want to close the earth portal for now, to make sure she doesn’t come back,” Euterpe explained, which seemed to be enough for Melpomene to leave, and as soon as she did, Euterpe pulled Lottie from her hiding spot and brought her over to the exit portal. ”Here, go back home and pretend you didn’t hear anything,” she ordered.
Lottie looked at her in surprise. ”Why are you helping me?” She asked, voice shaking.
Euterpe paused for a second, looking her over for a moment or so before she shrugged. ”I’ve overseen your progress since you were born, I guess I started to think of you as a friend, besides, you cant stop the gods, you might as well enjoy your last time on earth,” she explained and got up. ”Now go, before anyone else shows up.”
Lottie nodded shakily, stepping onto the portal and watching as the realm of gods faded away.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
”Ma’am, your order?”
Lottie jolted out of her memories at the voice of the waitress. She looked up, fearful for a second that it was a god sent to get her, however she forced herself to calm down once she realized it was just the waitress, a human. ”Oh uh...I’ll take the special?” She didn’t know what that was, but honestly it didn’t matter, she just needed something to wake her up a little.
The waitress nodded, jotting it down and walked off, allowing Lottie some time to think again.
Which, she had a lot to think about.
One: the gods planned on destroying the earth as soon as they were able to stop relying on it.
Two: She couldn’t just forget about this and move on.
Three: She really needed her mom.
At the thought of her mother, Lottie perked up a little.
Her mother would know what to do about this, she always had all the answers, she’d know what to do.
She had to tell her mom.
Which meant her next move was to buy a ticket to Portugal and leave as soon as possible.
One plane ride later, Lottie found herself standing outside the familiar door of her childhood home.
Her mother wasn’t actually from Portugal, but it was the place Lottie had grown up, and as far as she knew, it was where her mom still live .
So, with a shaky and uncertain breath, Lottie brought her hand up to the door and gave it a good loud knock, praying that her mother was home.

Bébinn O'Doibhilin Lady Luck
As it turned out, luck was on Lottie's side, today.
Bébinn hadn't really been expecting visitors -- normally, Lottie would call beforehand, Ambrose would send a letter with a precise date at least two weeks in advance, Mo wouldn't have knocked, and it didn't seem likely that Halo was coming for a visit today. Bobcat was here, so it wasn't him, either. She'd been cooking before the knock at the door, padding swiftly away from her cullen skink stew and towards the front of the house, still puzzling over who it could actually be.
Well, apparently her first guess had been right, and Bé wasn't sure if she was happy about that.
Now don't take that the wrong way. Bé loved her daughter with every ounce of her being, and wasn't even really opposed to surprise visits. She'd even been cooking, so she could make sure that Lottie wasn't going hungry. No, the real displeasure here was that her daughter looked rough, like she'd seen a ghost and had to fight it. Mm...or something tougher than a human ghost. She was a strong girl. Needed to be something stronger, like a ghost bear or something. Yeah, she could believe her little girl had gotten roughed up by a ghost bear, the smarmy bastard.
Beside the point.
"Lottie! I wasn't expecting you home today! How are you? Did you eat before you came here?"
Motherly instinct basically took over by this point, and the elder goddess quickly ushered her inside, voice cheerful and level like she wasn't concerned or enraged over whoever or whatever had rattled Lottie this badly. Her job was to un-rattle her, then figure out who was the cause of this and make them regret ever being born. But revenge could wait, just for a moment. Lottie needed food, and Bé needed direction. Yeah. That was a plan.
She also needed Bobcat.
After that casual and completely low-key inquiry about Lottie's wellbeing, Bé more or less pushed her (she meant the best), into a chair at the table, turning her attention partially towards the stove.
"Bobcat? Lottie's home." He would want to see her too, and would definitely not enable Bé's desire to get revenge on the bastard that hurt Lottie. Not at all. Without a doubt, Bobcat was the most level and fair god in this household, super chill and everything.
Completely regardless of whether Lottie was truly starving or not, a bowl of stew was put in front of her. That was just...how it went. Come home, get fed. That wasn't an option.

B o b c a t The American 50s
Bobcat had only recently woken up, being someone that took sporadic naps through the day rather than one large sleep overnight. The signs of this were pretty visible. His normally slicked back hair was fluffy and sticking out in every direction. He was wearing an oversized shirt from some concert he had brought some girl to 30 years ago. His pants were green and fluffy with little pandas dotting them. One purple bunny slipper was missing an eye and the other had a slightly ripped ear. And to top it off, he wore a long pink robe that was draped over his body and trailing behind him. Black fuzz rimmed the edges and added just a bit of softness that really put this outfit to the top for Bobcat.
Hearing Bé call his name made Bobcat smile, and he didn't even hear what else she said after that. Instead, he just happily trotted off towards her voice with his bunny slippers flopping quietly against the floor. As he entered the kitchen, he flung his robe so that it fluttered dramatically in the nonexistent wind. "Ah, you called? I just finished up a pretty boss nap," he explained, lifting his foot to place it on the chair.
That's when he noticed Lottie. "Heyo, kiddo! Nice to see the ankle biter visiting her folks." It was only now that he realized not everyone was as happy as him and the smile dropped from his face. "What's up? You're lookin' pretty clutched..."
Though he kept a look of cool confidence on his face, there was terror coursing through his veins. Had something happened to Ambrose or Mo? Was Lottie sick or hurt? How did one even comfort a child? It was easier when they were kids, but Lottie was an adult herself. A goddess no different than her parents. He was getting frosted at the thought of someone hurting Lottie, and he just hoped that wasn't the case. He would also fight if someone ever hurt Bé, Mo, or Ambrose.
"You just gotta let me know if anyone's cruisin' for a bruisin' and I'll ask that snake to rattle," he promised.
Though he liked to confuse those he could with his slang, he knew that Bé and Lottie were around him enough that they would hopefully pick up what he was getting at. If he needed to fight someone, he didn't want to waste time explaining what he was trying to say.
His eyes, however, did wander to what Bé had been making. He couldn't exactly fight on an empty stomach, could he? He poured himself a bowl of soup and sat down in the same chair he'd placed his foot on earlier. As he lifted the spoon to his mouth, the flowy sleeve of his robe came to rest in his bowl of soup and he looked down at it, heartbroken.

L O T T I E Nomad God
Relief coursed through her veins the second the all too familiar door of home opened in front of her. Unable to stop herself, Lottie reached out, wrapping her arms around her mother to pull herself into a hug. While yes, Lottie was an adult now, and she typically knew how to act like one, it had been a rather emotional, long day, one without sleep, or any real food, and far too much activity for her liking.
By now, she was tired and hugging her mother seemed like the best, quickest antidote for that.
She would’ve stayed that way as well for who knows how long if it wasn’t for her mom ushering her inside and before she knew it, Lottie had been seated down in a chair with a bowl of stew in front of her. It was tempting, if she was being honest, however Lottie didn’t also know if she could keep anything down right now, despite realizing it would probably be a good idea to eat something at least before she made herself feel worse.
Turning her attention to her father as he joined them, Lottie’s shaking muscles eased up a little. This was familiar to her, this was home, and home brought comfort; something she had been lacking for the last little while.
However she couldn’t let herself get lost in the comforts of home, so with a shake of her head, she pushed the bowl of stew away. ”I can’t eat right now,” she explained quickly, clumsily getting out of the chair she had been shoved in. ”I-we, we have to do something, I was-I was in the realm of the gods, and-“ breathe Lottie, you’re working yourself up again.
Stopping for a moment, Lottie inhaled, eyes closed as she counted to ten and then released the trapped breath of air. She couldn’t allow herself to hyperventilate again, that wasn’t an option, she had to calm down.
It was actually sort of funny in a messed up way, because in some sort of twisted way she had actually been calmer - in a sense - while she was in the realm of the gods, finding everything out and being chased by them all. However, in her defense, that was before the adrenaline wore of and reality set in.
Reality had set in by now.
Trying again, Lottie looked over to her parents. ”I had finished my ‘every so often check up’ with Euterpe, and-and I had lost my earbuds, you know, the earbuds that I take everywhere with me, my little boom box children that live inside my ears-no wait that sounds weird, they’re more like friends that have really good taste in music, yeah, that’s a little better-“ getting a little off track here, Lottie.
”Anyways-“ Lottie gestured widely with her arms, spreading them out on front of her as if she was pushing clutter away from the spot of table in front of her. ”When I went back to-to go get them, Euterpe was talking to another muse - Melpomene, I think - and they were discussing this big, big...meeting I guess, with all the gods,” with wide eyes she looked her mother and father over, to see if they were following along. ”So I followed them, and there was this creepy guy with a cracked face and Zeus was there and he was all like ‘you’re a nobody, get out of my way’ and the creepy guy summoned this universe thing and was like ‘don’t underestimate me Zeus, I was here before you even existed’ and then he destroyed a sun and kept talking about how humans were gonna forget about them and then everyone started screaming and he took his staff and was like-“ Lottie paused for a second, putting her hands over each other as if resting on top of a staff as she pushed them down, in front of her. ”Let me finish.”
After that, Lottie gestured around again. ”Then everyone was quiet and he kept talking about how soon he won’t need humanity to remember him and then they all teamed up with him and decided to destroy the earth and I’m assuming that means all of us with it and I said ‘what’ because I was surprised and suddenly everyone was looking at me, and I asked where the-the bathrooms are and they didn’t like that so they chased me and Euterpe dragged me into an alleyway and pushed me on the portal back home and told me to enjoy my time left and then I drank some coffee and realized I had to come home because you guys would know what to do, so here I am,” she finished, breathing hard as she looked up at her parents, waiting for their reactions to what she had just told them.

Bébinn O'Doibhilin Lady Luck
If she was being completely honest, Bé didn't know what to do.
The idea that the other gods would decide unanimously to just destroy the world was ridiculous, a laughable joke. They weren't stupid, were they? Well, they were...but this was an exciting new low, even for them. On the inside, the lucky goddess was screaming -- it wasn't even English anymore. It was a near-unintelligible mess of furious Gaelic, punctuated by the knife puncturing the cutting board where she'd been cutting bread thirty seconds prior.
Lottie wasn't joking, and this was about to be an absolute catastrophe.
Releasing her grip on the knife -- her knuckles had turned white from clutching the handle, she turned to address the problem. She had to stay calm, for Lottie. Her daughter was already falling apart, and she couldn't as well.
"That god, with the galaxy? His name is Anu." She explained carefully, keeping her voice level. “I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t fallen yet. He was new when we-” Now isn't the time to go down memory lane. That wouldn’t help, knowing how old An was -- or she was, for that matter -- when they had an actual problem here. An hadn’t fallen, and he didn’t seem to intend for it to happen, either. “He’s an old Mesopotamian god, and he was overthrown by his sons before. He’s dangerous, but not infallible, we just need to be smart about this.” An was a powerful leader, but he was more dangerous if the other gods were following him.
Just the thought of it raised the old goddess’s hackles though, and while she had set the knife down (thankfully) and wasn’t holding any sort of weaponry, she began to pace. “Imagine, though. Bein’ such a damn dunderheid tha’ you think blowin’ up the joint’s gawn’ save you. Daftest shit I’ve heard in my life, bunch of weapons the lot of ‘em.” She didn’t know what Anu’s plan was, but she needed to know. She really did. Because not only was this dangeous and stupid, they’d completely forgotten about the other gods living on earth. Or not forgotten them, but they didn’t seem to give a shit, and while Bé usually returned this sentiment, she didn’t want to die over an ego trip and a pissing contest between two gods that (in her expert opinion) should have fallen a long time ago. “I mean seriously, of course it was tha’ crack-headed dobber tha’ came up with this mess. I cannae think of summat more stupid’n that, so that’s pretty on brand, ain’t it?”
The ginger goddess tried to breathe, halting her furious pacing for a moment, finally coming to a thought that wasn’t how much she wanted to throttle the galaxy god. She needed to focus on something more useful than just the searing anger she felt at her "betters". She needed...she needed…
"We need backup, yeah? Halo, Mo, Brigit -- Bobcat, would you see if you cannae get Ambrose, too? We're goin' tae need all hands on deck if we want tae pull this one off." At the very least, it would be useful to get a hold of their friends and family, see if they had any further information. This was bad, this was very bad.
Stalking towards the oven, the goddess pulled on the drawer underneath it, removing a quiver of arrows from it. That's where pots and pans are supposed to go but okay, Bé. Slinging the quiver over her shoulders, she faced her family again, before giving what she hoped was a comforting smile towards her daughter. "I need you to get your aunt please, Lottie. She'll be in Paris -- you know how to find her." Lottie was a smart girl, obviously. Her aunt was either drinking or a crow, so she knew. "...and hey, everything's goin' tae be alright. We can handle this."
At least, she hoped they could. Pulling a bow from the pantry, she explained her own motives. "I'm going to Africa, to get Halo. And Lottie? Please use your phone when everyone gets who they need to." She hadn't pointed out the illogical use of a plane ticket before her phone. Lottie was young and terrified. But phones would be useful, honestly. A reminder wouldn't hurt.
If their lives weren't currently all in danger, Bé would probably poke fun at her daughter for buying a plane ticket before considering the phone in her pocket. But she could do that latter. She needed to reassure Lottie and Bobcat that she had a plan...
...and hope one came to her when she found Halo.

Aldeulf Schattenmund new god
The forest was silent and the air was still. It was as if the entire world was holding its breath for what was to come.
A shadow flickered through the mist, a mere ghost. As it drifted through the whole forest seemed to hold its breath, waiting and watching for the creature to do something that would shatter the otherworldly quietness that had enveloped the land like a blanket. Nothing happened for a long while. The still silence remained there unrivaled.
And then, in just a matter of seconds, the quietness shattered like glass.
The shadow shot forward, a large wolf-like creature gaining ground as he swerved between trees and ran through underbrush that would have tripped up an inexperienced set of paws. Fortunately, he knew this land well, and he was confident in his abilities to stay on solid ground without any sort of mishap. If he so wanted to he could run around this entire forest with his eye closed and have no problems getting around. This was his home, and it had been for a long, long time, and at this point it was like he knew the forest better than he even knew himself.
Right now he wasn’t running just for the sake of running. For days now he had been tracking down a young doe. He had spotted her some sunrises ago while prowling through the woods. She had seemed lame, which had immediately caught the wolf’s attention. A deer with a great enough injury to hinder its movements was automatically a dead deer. If he didn’t fell the beast now she could succumb to an even worse fate than that at the fangs of a wolf.
By the time the doe even knew she was being hunted, it was too late. Aldeulf twisted his head to the side as he lowered his body, jaws coming around the doe’s back leg. He quickly snapped his jaws around the appendage, blood already soaking into his mouth and coating his tongue. It wasn’t long before he heard and felt the snap! of bone underneath his teeth. He let go and watched as the doe stumbled and fell to the ground. She frantically attempted to pull herself back up to her hooves, but between a lame leg and now a broken one she was as good as dead no matter what. There was no way she’d ever be able to get back up.
Perhaps his method was a little cruel, to injure the deer and give her more pain before finishing her off, but despite everything and his whole status as some immortal being, he was still alone. He was a lone wolf, as much as it pained him to think that, and taking down prey in one go was practically impossible.
Aldeulf pushed himself to his paws and padded over to the head of the doe. His one amber eye glanced down at her, and in her own eye he saw fear. The fear of meeting the end. But he could see the ever so faint shadows of resignation deep within her gaze. She knew that this day would be coming. She knew her time on the earth would be coming to an end, but that didn’t mean she had to like it. He knew that look well, that odd mixture of fear and acceptance all in one. It was a look he wish he didn’t know so well, but it was too late to do something and fix that.
Shaking away those thoughts, the large wolf lowered his head and once again parted his jaws to enclose them over warm flesh. He was met by a rush of blood as his fangs penetrated the delicate skin of the doe’s throat. It wasn’t long before the cervid took its last strangled breath and fell limp between his jaws. After a few minutes the wolf let go of his grip. He looked down at the now dead doe, offering her a silent prayer that she would have an easy journey into the afterlife. Once he had finished that he placed the doe’s throat back into his throat and, with a quick tug, he started dragging the carcass along with him. He knew exactly where he was going and what he was going to do with the doe now that he had an entire pack’s worth of a meal in his jaws. It was what he did every time he actually got up the energy to hunt, which wasn’t a lot. It wasn’t like he needed to eat anyway, he was an immortal god. The feeling of hunger certainly came over him more than he liked to admit, but he rarely acted on it. Typically it was physical feelings like starving that he much preferred over all the other feelings he would be plagued with on a regular basis. The pain of starving was much more bearable than the pain of knowing he was alone and always would be. Starving was better than the pain he felt whenever he closed his eyes and the images of that one night replayed in his mind over and over again on repeat, ceaseless and never ending. He’d much rather miss out on a meal and experience a sharp longing in his stomach than feel the sharp longing in his heart.
Until the doe Aldeulf was sure he hadn’t eaten anything in at least ten months. And even then he wasn’t sure if he would actually partake in eating the doe. A part of him knew he should, it would be terrible of him to take down the beast and not use her body for anything, but did he even want to muster the energy to eat? He had gathered enough energy to actually go on a days long hunt, so maybe he’d actually sit down and eat something. Maybe. It depended on how he felt after he did everything else he needed to do first.
From where he currently was he was closest to the mossy meadow. He dragged the deer alongside him, stopping for nothing as he made his way through the woods. Eventually the woods gave way to a wide opening. In the middle was a patch of land that was somewhat sunken in, as if a large hole had been dug there years and years ago. Scattered around the area were a wide assortment of shoulder bones, some looking to be decades old while others only a few years old. It was almost like a shoulder graveyard upon first glance.
Releasing the doe, Aldeulf gave a small sigh. He looked down at the ground for a moment before turning back to the deer. Without any hesitation he pulled apart one of the deer’s shoulders with his sharp fangs, tearing into the still warm meat until he had the shoulder out. He carried it over to the middle of the clearing and gently placed it down on the ground. ”Been a while since I gave you anything, hasn’t it?” Aldeulf rumbled softly. ”Maybe I won’t take so long next time, Ans.” After he had set the meat and bone down, Aldeulf turned back to the carcass and picked it back up in his jaws. From there he went to visit a few other areas. The mushroom circle where Maudie was - he left one of the deer’s legs there. There was the riverbank where he had buried Aloysia’s jaw, and there he left the jaw of the doe where it joined countless other jaws that had been placed there over the centuries of him doing this. Eventually he had dragged the rest of the deer all the way to the old tree that overlooked the lake. As soon as the familiar sight of the tall tree came to him an aching longing washed over him.
This place was one of the places he found himself coming to a lot. Even during his worst days he could manage to get himself to come up to the tree. It was one of the places he could usually always be found.
After a few moments of just standing there, the wolf let go of the deer in his jaws. For another few moments longer he just stood there, looking at the base of the tree with the one good eye he had. ”I finally brought you something,” he murmured, voice low and merely no more than a whisper. After the words left him he turned back to the doe and started getting to work; in the silence was the cracking and snapping of bone as Aldeulf opened up the chest of his prey. It didn’t take him long to get past the ribs and right to the bloodied heart of the deer. As gentle as he had been so far, Aldeulf snapped the heart out of its home and dragged it outside, placing it down on the ground. Within the next ten minutes a rib bone followed, yet another one to continue growing the number of other rib bones that were scattered around the area.
”Here’s your share, Lux.” The wolf then lay down on the ground, situating himself in such a way that he would remain comfortable. For a while there he simply lay on the ground with his head on his paws. After what was probably a few hours he finally reached out and dragged the carcass closer to him. The thought of leaving the rest of the body to waste didn’t set right with him, so he started eating what he could, allowing himself to experience the feeling of being full after almost a year of not touching a single meal. He couldn’t finish all of the doe, but he could eat the rest for later if he felt up to it. Or maybe he’d drag it off and let other predators come and have their fill. He would figure that out later. Right now he had expended too much of what little energy he had on everything else he had done that day. Besides, he didn’t plan on moving from this spot for a long, long time. It wasn’t hard for him to lay there for months on end, and after everything he had done he was sure he would be laying there beside the tree for a good few months at least.

Aqsaktu fallen god
Work had been harder than usual on Aqsaktu. Not that work was ever really hard for her, it could just be emotionally taxing and draining at times, and while she could usually deal with everything that being a park ranger entailed, today had been...it had been something.
As soon as she had been let off she went straight to the cabin in the middle of nowhere that she called home. Usually she would stay over and converse with her coworkers and just enjoy the rest of her day or night in the company of others, but after today she hadn’t been able to stand being around others for any longer than she had to. Not that she couldn’t handle socialization any longer, it was just the fact that she didn’t want to be around anybody else when she inevitably broke down. Nobody needed to see or deal with that at any point in their day. So instead of hanging around like she usually did she just left so she could get home and calm herself down before anything else could go wrong.
It didn’t take long for Aqsaktu to give in to the emotions swirling around inside her head once she had closed the door behind her. She uttered a low groan as her hands came up to cover her face. She slid down her door and slumped down into the floor, already biting back tears that threatened to roll down her cheeks. ”Come on,” she murmured to herself, rubbing a hand over a cheek as tears continued to sting her eyes, ”you’re tougher than this.” But she really wasn’t. She didn’t know why she had wasted her breath on a comment like that when she knew she was just going to remind herself all over again just how weak she was when it came to certain things.
Honestly the day hadn’t started out too terrible for her. The morning had her starting off near the Igloo Creek campground, which was nothing out of the ordinary. She had been tasked to go out and just patrol around the campgrounds, make sure everything was going smoothly for the people who had made it out to that part of the park and set up a place to stay for a bit. There had been nothing out of the ordinary; what had gotten to her that morning was the interaction she had noticed between a mother and her daughter that couldn’t have been any younger than five years of age. The young girl must have been throwing some sort of typical five year old tantrum over no telling what, and the mother had obviously had enough of it. Aqsaktu knew discipline needed to happen from time to time - she had had to discipline many a kid before - but the urge to go over there and take the kid and become her new mother had been almost hard to resist. It has taken almost all the fallen god’s willpower not to go up there and save the kid from being disciplined. Aqsaktu was sure the girl had needed a stern talking to and there was no abuse going on, but it was hard to turn away from a kid that was so much as crying. She was working on controlling her impulses a bit more, but some days where harder than others and it left her somewhat drained. Even if she hadn’t done much, a battle against strong instinct was a tiring one.
After that little incident everything had been going like a typical day until later on in the afternoon. That was when a call had come in about what looked to be a juvenile dall sheep that had been illegally shot and killed some time throughout the night before. As soon as she had heard that her blood had run cold and she knew that the coming hours were not going to be easy for her at all. Luckily since working at the park she hadn’t had to deal with too many instances of poaching, but when she did, it was never a good day for her.
Things had been tense from there on out. Even when the fellow rangers going to check the sheep out with her tried to make conversation she was short and to the point or didn’t even respond at all. That wasn’t like her. Usually she was quite friendly and bubbly, happy even, but not this time around. Everything about her typically bubble nature changed when something like this happened. Anytime anything like this happened Aqsaktu withdrew from others. She turned quiet and shied away from contact, only speaking up or acknowledging somebody else existed only when she absolutely had to.
It was no surprise to her that she completely clammed up the moment they got to the crime scene. That’s what it was, a crime scene. An innocent animal had been slaughtered for the sick amusement of some human, an animal that should have gone on to live its life to the fullest. Yet somebody had taken that from the sheep, and Aqsaktu was both sad and angry about it all. Most of all, though, she knew how something like this felt. Maybe the kill had been swift and clean, and while that’s what she hoped for, the crime scene looked different from what a swift death would look like. There had been signs of a struggle, signs of fear, and that really hurt the fallen god. It hurt because she knew exactly what that sheep had gone through and she hadn’t been there to stop any of this from happening.
Luckily she had been able to hold herself through the whole investigation. Or, well, she had been able to hold herself together as well as she could. Typically she would have stayed through the rest of the investigation, but after a few...instances of her showing that she wasn’t exactly thinking clearly she had been asked to go on home and get some rest. She hadn’t necessarily wanted to do that, she wanted to help, but after a moment of clear thought she knew she needed to get out of there. She knew if she had stayed any longer she would completely break down in a place where she didn’t want to.
That’s why she was now currently slumped down in front of her door on the verge of tears. Sheep weren’t her animal. She wasn’t technically the protector of sheep, but they were still an animal, and no matter what the animal was, she felt a deep connection with it. Whether it be caribou, wolf, bear, fox, rabbit, or even a lemming she had a connection to the world and the animals that inhabited it. And seeing one that had been so cruelly treated...it hurt. And it hurt even more because she knew how that animal had felt in its last moments.
Fear. That was the main emotion. The fear of knowing something was out there and it was relentless. The fear of knowing that whatever was chasing you was smarter than you, that it had weapons stronger than your own. Fear of being trapped, unable to get out of the hunt, stuck forever to being the prey.
Then came the pain. Sharp, sudden, and harsh. She knew what that felt like. The bite of a bullet, the strike of an arrow, the snap of a steel trap. She knew all of that pain more than she liked to admit to.
She knew the feeling of being stuck on the ground, unable to get up. She knew the panic of feeling her lungs fill up with blood, how it choked her, made her splutter and gasp for a breath she knew she would never actually get, how each time she tried to drag in a breath it only made things worse. She knew the feeling of being so scared, so terrified, of feeling herself literally drown in her own blood, and death never really was a comfort after something like that. And no matter how many times she had gone through that it was never easier. The pain and the panic and the fear...it was never easier.
Aqsaktu was drawn out of her thoughts as a gasp left her. She was no longer covering her face with her hands, but instead she had them around her throat, scratching and clawing at the delicate skin in a frenzy.
”Calm down...calm down… You’re safe...you’re…” Was she really safe? Aqsaktu was perhaps as safe as she could be inside her little cabin in the middle of the woods, but beyond that...beyond that anything could happen.
She needed to get these thoughts out of her mind. She needed to come back down to earth and calm down. Which…”come back to earth” was a bit of a harsh saying to a fallen god, wasn’t it? Going down to earth wasn’t exactly a calming expression after...after everything.
Aqsaktu pushed aside those thoughts as she slowly got back to her feet. Warm tears continued to roll down her cheeks, but she was able to hold them under control a bit better. She used her hand to wipe away some of the rogue tears as she made her way into the little kitchen portion of her cabin. Knowing exactly what she wanted and needed, Aqsaktu soon had a large thing of apples out, all fermented and just how she needed them. Most people probably shouldn’t go to fermented apples for a little breather, but Aqsaktu was a former caribou god, fermented apples probably didn’t hurt her like they would a regular human. Not that they didn’t do anything to her either, but that wasn’t the point here.
A few hours and seventy apples later, Aqsaktu was once again sitting in the floor. This time she wasn’t crying, but instead she was in the midst of a drunken giggling fit as she looked down at a crude drawing of thirty-six reindeer in different colored marker on the back of a piece of paper that was crumbled and wrinkled from all the drawing she had just done on it.
”It’s so nice that all of you decided to show up today!” Aqsaktu mused to the drawn deer herd, her mix matched eyes sparkling happily.
Pitching her voice a bit higher, the fallen goddess responded to herself as if she were one of the caribou in the drawing. ”Why wouldn’t we come and show up, Aqsaktu? You’re our friend and we love hanging out with you!”
”Oh, Unalaq, you’re too kind!” The goddess smiled down at the pink caribou that was in front of the others.
Aqsaktu then made a second voice, this one a bit lower in pitch. ”We had to travel many miles to get here, but it was worth it to see you.”
Happiness warmed the woman thanks to her caribou friends. They were all she had out here now. She hadn’t had any kids to raise in a while, and it was very unlikely she had any visitors, mortal or immortal. It wasn’t that bad, though. Animals visited all the time, and lately there had been a little redpoll bird that had been frequenting the bird feeders she kept out. The little guy usually showed up every other day, and Aqsaktu had started to affectionately call the bird Yuka. Other than that she didn’t really have anybody around to keep her company, and she did like company. She liked having others around, and it got lonely when it was only herself. Sure, she had friends like her little marker drawn caribou herd and she would even consider some of the people she worked with as friends, but it wasn’t the same as having somebody always with her, somebody that wouldn’t mind staying with her and going outside to enjoy nature with her or just to keep her company. As much as she hated to admit it, she was somewhat lonely all by herself, but...that was okay. She had her animals and sometimes she had a kid to take care of until they either grew up or she decided to adopt them out to a family that wanted a kid of their own. She had creatures and things that kept her company in their own time. She had friends. She had...she had…
Her hazy, apple-drunk mind was trying to grab on to something now. Something important. Something about friends. Something…
”You look a bit confused there, Aqsaktu, need any help?” “Unalaq” asked.
The goddess looked down at the drawing, gaze as intent as one could muster while under the influence. ”I’m not…” She never finished what she was going to say when what she was trying to think of slapped her right in the face. ”Halo!”
A few days ago she had received a letter through the mail from the other fallen goddess mentioning some sort of expedition through the Congo Basin. Aqsaktu had sent a letter back to tell Halo she would be there, yet in her little breakdown from earlier she had forgotten to even get everything ready for the trip. Now it was too late to even so much as pack; if she wanted to hold up to her promise she needed to get going now.
The fallen god stumbled up onto her feet, slipping and falling back into the floor a few times before she eventually got her footing. With nothing but the clothing on her back - and the drawing, she managed to lean down and pick her reindeer herd up without too many mishaps - she left her cabin and headed straight to the airport. Probably not a good thing for her to do right now considering she was drunk, but she had promised Halo she was going to be there and she wasn’t about to take that promise back.
-
Getting to the airport montage here. Imagine this drunken goddess doing her best to seem sober at an airport and almost failing.
Here’s the airplane ride montage where Aqsaktu was almost kicked off, the only thing saving her was the fact that they were already in the air and she legally couldn’t be kicked off.
-
About a day later, Aqsaktu had made it to the Congo. The plane ride hadn’t been too terrible despite freaking out a few times and being asked to stop her “terrible bleating”, as one grouchy old man had put it, multiple times. Had she been sober the plane ride would have been much worse, but those fermented apples really did help keep her a little more relaxed about the whole experience.
Now she was somewhere in the middle of the Congo basin, or she hoped she was, she had asked a good seventy or so people for directions on where exactly Halo was supposed to be, hungover, and already way too hot for comfort. The thought of just stripping down had crossed her mind, but even in her hungover state she managed to realize that doing so would be a bad idea, but if she couldn’t handle it after a while she had no problem reminding who all had showed up that she was a wild animal first before she was human and wild animals had no care in the world if they were naked or not.
Thoughts of stripping aside, Aqsaktu did her best to focus on the task at hand. Surely finding and tracking down an ancient fallen god and potentially any others that had decided to come along as well wouldn’t be too hard even with a throbbing headache, shaky legs, and sweating like a pig. She could do this. In no time she’d find Halo and everything would be just fine and they could start this little jungle adventure and have some fun.

Bobcat... wasn't sure how to handle everything. He usually wasn't the one that had to handle problems. He was... not dumb, but... air headed at times. Yeah, that was probably a better word. Still, he had to step up here. Lottie was his daughter so it wasn't like he could just push her problems onto someone else to deal with them.
As she described everything, he stayed quiet. The mention of the upcoming problem caused Bobcat to hiss under his breath and a few nearby electrical appliances to come to life for a second.
Wow, he hadn't had a little surge like that in years. It was only when he was young that anything nearby would pick up on his fear and anger and bring themselves to life. He took a deep breath to calm himself, turning to Bé first.
"Y-Yeah. I can grab Dad. He'll know what to do," he said. Ambrose would know the answer, wouldn't he?
"Anu's got me frosted. I'm gonna give him a knuckle sandwich next time I see him, but for now we gotta cool it. We'll get through this," he said, his eyes switching to Lottie. He disappeared for a moment before returning with a thick blanket in his arms. "I suppose there's no time to read a story, but take this with you." He wanted to wrap her in the blanket and read a bedtime story, but this wasn't time to just goof off like that.
Time for some advice before Lottie left and he and Bé went off in their own directions? "Make sure to pile some Z's when you can and don't let people rattle your cage, righto?" He hadn't been around as long as most gods and was at least 200 years younger than Bé, but Bobcat liked to think he knew some tips about living.
He thought for a moment, his dark eyes traveling down his outfit before coming to a decision. This was the world at stake. There was no time to change. And if anyone wanted to insult his clothes? Who cares? He's a god. He could do what he wanted.
He paused. He didn't want to get sappy. He was not the sappy kind normally, so he cleared his throat a bit and looked over at Bé and Lottie. This was going to be dangerous and he knew that they were both gods, but he still couldn't stop himself from worrying about them. "I love you guys," he said, before clearing his throat and looking down at his shoes.
Or, well, his ripped up purple unicorn slippers.
He wondered how long it would take for him to get a comment about how he chose to dress. Not necessarily from other gods, but from the mortals he was sure to come across in his travels. He couldn't wait to face those mortals. There was something about facing down a 100% confident guy in purple bunny slippers that was whooshing his robe that got people to back down.

Hanitra Rakotoniaina
Alternative Names: Hani, Hana, Dr Rakotoniaina, The Witch of Tana, mpamosavy Gender: Female Age: 45 (Born 1975 AD) — NEW GOD — looks mid-to-late 20s Birthplace: Antananarivo (Tana), Madagascar Family: None to speak of, but she has friendly relations with Halo and is close with Maffi Power: Hani is practised in witchcraft, and can perform limited magic. Her main abilities are to do with making potions, but at a push she is able to perform very limited magic. She can do offensive magic, but chooses not to. She usually does divination, healing or protective magic for herself or the environment around her. She is very good at illusion magic though. Performing any kind of magic takes significant energy and focus and causes Hani no small amount of pain. Height & Weight: 5’1”, 120 lbs
Anything Extra: Hani is very petite, which isn’t unusual among Malagasy women. Her skin is a warm-toned brown, and she does not have any distinctive markings or tattoos. She has quite a curvy figure, being quite an hourglass shape. She very rarely does any braiding or different styles with her dark hair, tending just to leave it loose and natural. Her eyes are a deep brown, as well, but they do have some lighter gold and amber tones in them that are especially visible in the sunlight. In terms of clothing and things like that, Hani has some varied taste. When she is in Madagascar, she will (on occasion) wear the traditional lamba, especially if for a special or formal occasion or if she is visiting older or more formal communities. She wears this usually over western clothes. Most of the time, she doesn’t wear a lamba (and never when she is not in Madagascar), instead opting for western clothes. Her taste in these clothes could be described as boho, probably, as she likes long flowing clothes and earthy tones most of the time, though she does have just as much of a soft spot for bright colours because of how bright the lambas usually are. She likes to wear a lot of jewellery too, especially lots of crystals and gemstones. Her jewellery is always gold because it complements the warm tone of her skin the best. She loves big rings as well, and also has a fascination with jewellery with raw crystals on them. She doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, and when she does she prefers subtle looks. She always carries with her a small, worn notebook in which she has noted down all the potion recipes and spells and other important things she has learned over the years. Her voice is smooth, and calm, like rolling waves or the deep quiet of a dense forest.
Hani was born in Tani, Madagascar, and had a relatively normal childhood apart from the fact that she didn’t know her parents. It wasn’t until she was a teenager when she discovered her abilities after she, having gotten into a fight with a friend, accidentally created a small shield-like forcefield for a second to protect herself from a punch swung at her face. She was, of course, accused of being a witch and fled Tani for a village in the countryside. It wasn’t long after that she met Halo, who had heard of an incident of witchcraft in Madagascar and had obviously known what Hani was. Halo explained everything to Hani, about her being a new god and an immortal. Of course, this news shook Hani to her core, but over the coming months she quickly realised that it meant she had a chance to do all the things she had been worried she wouldn’t get to do what with the whole incident in Tani. It might give time for the rumours to die down. So Hani travelled to France (since she knew the language) to go to university, where she studied conservation and environmental science, eventually getting her PhD. She did feel the call of home after her years of study in France, but took some time to travel the Americas before she returned to Madagascar. It was during these travels that she met Maffi, with whom she became fast friends. Hani frequently visits Halo and Maffi, both of whom she gets on very well with. But she spends most of her time these days back home in Madagascar, working to help conserve the rainforest there and honing her magical abilities.
Hani is an intriguing woman. She is, for the most part, a very relaxed person, a very go-with-the-flow, centered kind of girl. She does have her head in the clouds quite a lot, and can definitely be a little ditzy and forgetful, which is why she has to note things down all the time. She frequently has notes on her wrist and the back of her hand too. She doesn’t seem to take things hugely seriously or really worry about anything, outwardly definitely seeming very chill. But don’t judge a book by its cover. Hani has all the deep complexity many immortals seem to have, and she can be surprisingly introspective and philosophical. Or perhaps this isn’t that surprising since nobody really knows what she thinks about when her head is in the clouds. She is intelligent, if in a kind of eccentric way, and when she needs to put her mind to something she is very capable of making plans (not that most of the time she bothers to do this). She knows French (due to the fact that at the time of her birth many people in Madagascar still spoke it) and is conversational in English as well. She is quite emotionally tough and resilient, possessing a quiet strength most don’t see straight away. She is very caring and maternal, and despite being younger than a lot of the gods she is still protective of them. Hani is slow to anger, but when you do have her angry it is definitely not good. She is very protective of her friends and of the environment, and it is only on these two issues that you are really likely to incur her wrath. But when she’s angry she has quite the scathing tongue, and a surprisingly fiery temper, which probably explains how she got in that fight all those years ago. She doesn’t rise to insults most of the time, since she knows her flaws and seems very accepting of them. It’s only if you insult her friends that she grows angry. She doesn’t get angry easily, but once she is angry she certainly isn’t easy to control. Most of the time, she has a heart of gold and will do absolutely anything for her friends, so just don’t make her angry and it’ll probably be fine. She is a calming presence, very in tune with her emotions and a rock to her friends. She is also quite open-minded and creative, often thinking out of the box.

Patli New God
He was bored. Really, utterly, completely bored. The kind of bored that got difficult to solve since nothing else actually seemed appealing. The kind of bored that left you sitting upside down on an old, ratty couch taken from someone's front lawn since they no longer had a use for the old thing. The kind of bored that left you staring up at the ceiling, counting the little "popcorn" pieces up there and trying to find shape. The kind of bored that when he could come up with something to do, it was dismissed since it just wouldn't alleviate the boredom.Starting up a gang had ended up being a little bit more boring than Patli expected. He doubted he was the only one in this group (which was a far more accurate description) that thought so. The kids in the gang were here to be bonded into a group of people or to try and find a few more ways to gather up money, but none of them really... liked the ways those larger gangs went about it.Patli was personally against it for some... describable-y, less honorable reasons than some of the others. Nobody genuinely cared about gangs on the level they used to. Authorities let people roam around as long as they didn't piss off rich kids too badly. It made everything really pointless since they weren't even in a good part of town to do so and while Patli wouldn't mind getting arrested for causing severe damage to a house, the others might. Larger, more well-known gangs focused on less savory things anyway. Stuff that fed addictions for nothing. No large f-word against society and the government, to prove that they, the people, didn't need to abide by their rules. It was just... People being a bunch of douchebags just to be douchebags.Patli wanted to find something more entertaining to do with the idea. Find some way to make it more interesting or even just... Well, he supposed ditching the idea entirely was an option. He just didn't want to spend the next half-a-century sitting around doing nothing. It'd be a waste of his time, it'd be a waste of the kids in his gang's time, it's be a waste of everyone's time."¿Oye, Caimán? 1" Patli stretched further down the couch, in order to get a better look at the kid hanging off of the door with a grin. He wasn't one of the youngest kids (and he certainly wasn't one of the oldest, Patli had that by a long shot), but he was legally an adult in Mexico at 18, therefore making him in a sort of mid-range compared to the rest of the group. He was one of the kids that was genuinely looking for a purpose in life, compared to the others who wanted to support their families or find some friends to hang out with. And honestly, Patli related a lot to the kid.Of course, he could have suggested a thousand things better than joining a gang made on a whim for all of them. He guess it helped them all, a place to relax and destress and have fun. It just... didn't make them much of a gang as it did a group of people just hanging out. Most of them ranged from 16 to 19 years old, a couple other that stretched beyond those limits. It was a harmless little thing, but all of them could be doing far better than hanging around Patli. It was depressing really.Steering away from that train of thought, he focused back onto Rafael, the kid still waiting for an answer. He was a sweet kid, looking for something worthwhile in his life, which Patli believed was anything but this. He was close to finishing school and had good grades and probably had the most hope to find somewhere better to go in the world. Someone needs to remind Patli to not create something involving people if he didn't actually want them to join."¿Qué pasa, Jackrabbit? 2""Ah, yo y algunos de los otros vamos a ir al club cercano. ¿Queríamos saber si querías unirte a nosotros? 3"Patli gave a light smile and shook his head. Shifting in his "seat" into a more of a side lean the laying down, he responded, "Otro día, mi día está programado para pensar existencialmente. 4""Diviértete con eso entonces, ya sabes dónde encontrarnos. ¡Adiós! 5" Rafael responded, waving his hand goodbye as he opened the door. Some of the other kids overhearing had joined the little group, following Rafael as he exited the door with a little wave of his hand. It wasn't long before the door shut with the last kid of the group out. Patli slumped further off the couch and onto the floor with a groan. What was he supposed to do?He could disband the gang. End up with a bunch of kids that would then feel lost since their one shared group was technically gone. Wasn't the most preferable idea. Disappearing on them? Well, they'd have the group still. Who would take over? ... Would they allow all of these promising kids to continue to chill out or would they end up getting into less savory activities. Not to mention the idea that the kids would try to research into it and figure out where he went. He could claim he was going somewhere else... but they'd probably expect him back eventually...He could... fake a death however?Obviously actual death wasn't an option (no matter how much he wished it was possible in the past), but he might be able to work with it. It was something he'd have to think creatively on. After all, he was dealing with kids and death was a... touchy topic to humans in general. Something about not living long enough be satisfied with life. Patli had different issues with death relating less with himself and more with....The point was he'd have to find a way to break it to them gently that he died. Something that wouldn't be scarring and they'd be able to deal with.So. Dying in front of them was off the table. As was finding a dead body. Well... he could always just pretend to be a completely different person... and inform the group that he had died. He could probably use those good old age-related powers to make him look older... even it was just an older version of himself. He could probably tell the news, buy a ticket to Chile, fly down and revisit the past. Absolutely no flaws there. He shifted off of the couch completely, adjusting to stand up and stretch from the previous position. It felt like a good idea to take a walk while contemplating this particular option. Exiting the house, he was unsurprised to find it dark out, understanding why the kids decided to go out at this time. However, it was depressing since it was light out when he had begun his staring contest with the ceiling earlier.Pulling out his phone, he figured he'd at least update one of them that he was now out of the house.--------------------------------------

[ | escribir mensaje 14 ] -------------------------------------- ~translations from this point on are discontinued due to large paragraphs~ Patli considered responding but overall, he knew the kid enough to know that nothing he could say would stop Rafael from heading over. Not to mention the fact, Rafael was already headed over thus defeating the purpose of trying to stop him. So, he found a bench to sit on and figured he'd wait for Rafael to appear. Disappearing at the moment was an unfortunately small option to get anywhere.Much to say, he took the minutes in silence with the wind and darkness around him in peace. He closed his eyes and just sorta in-took his thoughts and readied himself for something that was probably going to end up like a heartfelt conversation since it was just one of those nights. Even if by all accounts Patli would rather avoid those since from what he saw, it led to emotional breakdowns and who needed those? But he doubted he could just call up any of the few people he knew and see if they could talk some sense into him. He'd probably end up being a general bother to anyone he tried to contact - who needed a immortal calling them up to discuss the ideas of whether or not pretending to die was a good way to get out of situations. Much less trying to figure out what to do with his life when there was no meaning to anything. After all, what use was an immortal with two total talents. Two conflicting talents at that- one of which literally anyone could do and the other that, while needed to be learned more carefully, could still be learned by anyone. What was the worth of someone like that in any aspect? The only people who had ever needed him were dead - not to mention the fact they were much more likely to go to his father or one of the other gods for help. He was overall just a pointless waste of space that nobody actually needed and if there was a way to kill an earth god, Patli would spitefully scream that no one thought to approach him about this sooner since at least in death he could join the rest of his civilization. People could genuinely enjoy the triumph they had. Between killing innocents and leading to the indirect death of-"Too deep in thought to chat then, huh?" Patli startled backwards with a startled, absolutely undignified scream (screech, gasp, anything of a better description than scream really). Holding onto the bench like his life depended on it, he shot a glare at the kid sitting next him. Didn't even have the dignity to try to hide the laughter."Sorry, didn't think you'd even hear that. You okay?"
"No! Well. Yes... Maybe. You surprised me," Patli responded, adjusting himself on the bench. He hadn't realized it, but he was making a point to avoid actually meeting Rafael's gaze.He didn't even need to to understand that the words Rafael spoke were accompanied with a roll of the eyes in great proportions, "Obviously. You know what I mean though. You were really... focused right there and you didn't look like you were having the best thoughts. What's going on?"
"I-"
"Don't lie to me." Patli looked at Rafael, wincing to himself. For such a young kid, he had a fierce determination in his eyes to make sure people were okay. He was always encouraging the others to talk about what they were feeling and to try and help them feel better in some kind of way. It honestly terrified Patli a good amount. And still, Rafael continued. "I'm your friend. Even if you do try to avoid as much contact as you can with everyone and think that it's fine that you're disconnected from the group. But you are apart of it, and you can talk about your emotions and what's bothering you as well."
"What if the issue is that I'm considering leaving the group? That I'm planning on moving back down to an old town I used to live in? Leaving this place behind until everyone forgets that I ever existed in this area?"There was a pause of silence. It felt longer than a pause. Like over an hour's worth of waiting... of contemplating what Patli let out and said. It was stupid and Patli didn't really mean to let it out. It was just... the fact it was the issue and Rafael asked and now was probably regretting it and-"Okay."
"What?" Rafael was staring at Patli in concentrated thought. But patli was just confused. He had expected some kind of argument against it. He didn't know how to feel with just that acception- "I don't just mean 'okay, go do what you want.' I mean, I don't understand what caused these feelings. I don't understand how long they've built up or why they did but- if you think that's the route you should take in life, there isn't much of a reason to try and stop you if you're going to be happier for it? Everyone will be disappointed to hear. They like you and enjoy your company but, none of them are going to try and stop you from continuing on in your life."
"I don't know how long anyone expected everyone to stick together here. Some of us are leaving high school now. Miguel has plans to move to America and find a job that he can use to send money down to his family here. Romina and Isadora and Santiago are planning on buying a place nearby to start a business to help some of the kids around here- Marcos and Josefina plan on going to college and getting degrees- not to mention the kids that still have time to think and figure out what they want to do. It's probably earlier than anyone expected to leave but..."
"What about you?"
"I- Does that really matter? I came out here to talk about you, not me." Patli raised his eyebrow. Rafael was looking away now, and Patli believed he could guess why. The others had some amount of their lives picked out and Rafael didn't. Rafael was attached to the group and he wanted to help- to be useful and worth something to someone. "Right, right. I'm willing to answer questions about it. For once in my life."
"Really? Oh well- Why do you want to move? Or to where- or- to be honest, there is a lot of things I'm curious about things relating to you in general. You're something of a really mysterious case?" Rafael was truthful and immediately got a curious look on his face."Let's start with this then," Patli spoke, "You are 18, probably going to live to 70 or 80- if you're lucky. I have already lived far longer than that. Almost 10 times longer than all of that. You have to worry about what you're going to accomplish in life, what kind of impact you'll leave. You aren't focused on keeping yourself unattached to the world, you're focused on attaching yourself to it. I try to find ways to entertain myself and that's it. I know of others that try to do more, but I can't find myself to care anymore."
"I want to leave since I can't see myself spending a human's lifetime of sitting here and doing nothing. You're a good group of kids, but it's going nowhere together. It's a place to hang out but it's nothing deeper than that. There is no going anywhere as a large group, no sticking together until everyone's dead and I'm left to find a new outlet for boredom. It's meaningless in the long run."
"People build up empires and they fall. The people who conquer those places get overthrown. The people that continue on in life don't make any positive impact in the long run since everything gets torn down in the end. Me staying here in a place where nothing happens, nothing temportaily positive or negative or anything substantial does nothing for me. It's selfish in reasoning. But humans in general fall under those guidelines. So what if I fit there too, I was never raised to be what I am. I don't even care about that. I care about the fact that what I was raised to be ended up pointless. I have no one to share it with. I'm alone with a few others like me that I see everyone once in a century. Humans that I choose to spend time around are going to die soon and everything. By all accounts, I can't afford to get close to any of you. You'll die whether or not I do. I save myself the effort of pain by not.""Why bother doing this at all?" Patli took a look at Rafael. He didn't really need to look too far to understand that Rafael was shaken by that. It was a reaction that occurs when admitting one was an immortal with no meaning to get attached to anyone. It offended humans for an understandable reason. They were being told that everything they believed in was invalid. It was natural to be upset. But Patli had already gone over that phase in life. Upset that he lived so long and still couldn't do anything important or stop anything from occurring."I told you. I try to find ways to entertain myself-"
"Bullshit. So much bullshit. You wouldn't just- there is no reason for you to continuously place yourself amongst people in an attempt to stay detached from them. That's stupid. You'd avoid people then, you'd make less of a reason to actually be near people. you wouldn't put yourself in a position to be surrounded by people then only to ditch off to a place with more people."
"I-"
"No. You don't get to try and argue against that. I don't understand half of what you said. I don't really understand the part about you being really old or immortal or whatever. I obviously don't know what's happened to you. But if you genuinely wanted to stay detached you wouldn't keep putting yourself around people then."Patli didn't know how to respond. He was not expecting the day to go like this. Not expecting to get a genuine argument against this. He hadn't had this conversation a lot in his life, but it left with a depressing tone and Patli moving far, far away."If you move, my bet is you're going to fall into the same cycle again and again and again. You're going to drag people into something you don't care for and hurt all of them in doing so and yourself because- Either you leave before you get attached or you do get attached and then you hurt yourself and you need to suck it up and live like a human for a little while longer." Rafael stood up off of the bench and offered a hand to Patli with a grin.Patli couldn't even comprehend what was going on. What had happened and what was still happening. Hesitantly, without thinking, he reached up to grab the hand and was pulled up with Rafael. "Another month. Another week even. Just stay a little longer and then decide if this place really isn't for you to stay just another couple of years until more people leave and go on with their lives. Just stay unless you find some kind of giant adventure to go on that you feel is worth leaving to do. Just... be human. Be a genuine human and not some close-minded version of one. Okay?"Patli hesitated. But he answered."Okay."

Morriganne Ó Doibhilin Fallen God
Since she was never one to go against expectations, Morriganne was at a bar. Specifically, the best Scottish Pub in Paris. She didn't like straying too far from her roots, and the clubs in Paris were just that: clubs. She didn't have a place where she could sit down and drink whisky like a real woman in her sixty thousand plus years of age. She stopped keeping track a century or two ago. No one should blame her, really. It was considered rude to ask an old woman her age nowadays, wasn't it? If worse came to worse, she could just yell at people that she was a grandmother.
Well, an aunt but it was close enough.
To her left, a man was making the waitress uncomfortable. She was trying to get away, to continue her job without much fanfare. He was making it rather difficult for the poor server. Morriganne narrowed her eyes, just slightly, and suddenly the man's drink suddenly spilled down his shirt. The god laughed into her drink, a smirk crossing her face as a result of her actions. Her little move had made the man disappear into the restroom, at the very least. The waitress would get a reprieve from his advances. It was the least she could do, considering how good the drinks were here.
"That was rather rude of you, Mo bhanrigh." From behind her, a familiar voice spoke up, and a groan unleashed itself from the back of her throat. Morriganne knew exactly who decided to talk to her without turning around. She also knew that he knew better than to follow her here. Paris is where she stayed when she wanted to be alone. To be fair to him, that was more often than not as of late. It's not like his sudden appearance would change anything though. Morriganne had decided to test how long she could stay on the edge without getting kicked out. So far, she had lasted the entire day. She wasn't about to change her goal because this idiot came to collect her.
No off brand seal was about to command her. When confronting him, she did not spare him a glance. Instead, she gave him the cold shoulder. He was acting as if his opinion was the end all, be all of her life. In reality, he had very little affect on her in the long run. In a few decades, he would be dead and replaced by his son. Just like his father had been replaced by him. So on and so forth. This one just hadn't learned the rules yet. "Agus tha thu a ’smaoineachadh gu bheil cùram orm?" Morrigane clicked her tongue when his hand landed on her shoulder. She could tell that he feared for his limb when he quickly removed the offending palm.
The man in question had the decency to look ashamed. Morriganne honestly didn't know if his negative feelings were apart of her powers making his fate less positive or if he was actually self aware of his mistakes. She hoped it was the ladder, considering it was better for his own personal growth. Instead of helping himself, however, he made another mistake. He fought her. Didn't he know she always won in the end? He was rather stupid for a sixty year old Selkie. "Yes."
"Ewan! Gaelic, ròn thu asal." Morriganne stood, getting in the Selkie's face. Someone challenging her was never a good thing. The species was her's. He might be their champion, but she was their queen. Above all, they listened to her. Rule number one: only speak Gaelic. Ewan had some trouble with that one. He barely spoke the language, even after sixty years of training. Morriganne blamed his father, but if anyone bothered to ask him, he would probably go on a rant about how the language was dead.
Morriganne really wished that this man would just die already. His son was a much better choice for a leader.
With a rather arrogant smirk, Ewan pipped in quickly, "That would be rude to these fine people." Morriganne wasn't usually one for violence, not since the Scottish rebellion's failure. She had given up on winning battles with fists. Still, this Selkie made her want to break his nose. She could do it too. One quick punch to the nose. He was a mythical creature, he aged slower and healed faster. It wouldn't hold him back too much. The act would, however, get her kicked out of the bar. By the mischievous in his eyes, he was well aware of the fact.
"I hate you." She signed, sitting back in her stool. Ewan would continue to do as he pleased, it was easier to just let him. Besides, if she fought him, he got what he wanted by getting her booted from one of her favorite places in Paris. It was also the best bar in the city, so she wasn't about to let the Selkie man ruin it for her. She signaled the server for another, two drinks, hiding her smile for her new idea. It would be a little mess, but if worse came to worse, she would clean it up herself. It was worth it to see the look on his face.
"I'm well aware." The Selkie leader grinned, "Now sober up! I have to be back for Charles' role in the Sea Play." Morriganne hummed slightly before being handed her two drinks. She smiled up at him, then threw a drink in his face. He licked his lips and looked at her questioningly, "Lagavulin 17 Year?" Morriganne stared at him for a good minute, waiting for him to get mad at her actions. It didn't take long before they both burst into laughter. "Are you done now?" She nodded with a light smile. He had been a good sport, she could listen to his problems at the very least. He took a deep breath and said, "We need a boat."
Morriganne just blinked at him. "You are literally a fish. No."

Brigit Alastríona Tréanlámagh The fire-eyed maid of smoky war A small village in Northumberland, England
The goddess once known as Brigantia had been through a lot even in the years since she had fallen. She had spent her years on earth trying to make up for her mistakes and her failings, for she could never forgive herself for the suffering her tribe went through. The things she could not protect them from, but should have. It was, after all, the very reason she had been created.
She had never ceased trying to protect the land she felt bound to. She’d spent centuries, millennia even, fighting in wars or working as a nurse and helping in whatever capacity she could.
But, for at least a little while, she wanted to stop.
Brigit needed a break, that much had been evident for a long time. The world was moving too fast for her, war had changed, becoming so different from everything she’d even known, in only the last hundred years or two. She needed some time.
Plus, now was a good time for her to lay low again for a while, lest her name crop up too much or people begin to become suspicious. She had to be very careful of that. So she’d moved to a little farming village in the Northumbrian countryside and bought a cottage. Setting up a little smallholding hadn’t really taken too much effort.
So now she had a cute little cottage, with gold laced Orpington chickens, her own goat, and plenty of space to grow vegetables and other food. She even kept bees for honey. She’d been living there for maybe a decade or so now, but certainly hadn’t been on this little hiatus of hers for too long.
She kept what she needed for herself, and sold the rest at farmers’ markets so she could buy the other things she needed. It was a pretty good system. She sometimes was visited by the other earth gods, with Bébinn visiting roughly once a month with meat or wine to trade for some of Bri’s produce. That was handy too. Brigit used to get game meat for herself but she hadn’t hunted since maybe a couple hundred years after her fall.
It was pretty perfect, since she was relatively secluded and able to lay low, but without ever having to leave the land she loved so much. She still got to see golden sunlight on the moors, or dramatic cloudy skies, or maybe the clear stars at night.
Brigit considered this a long holiday, or maybe a temporary retirement. All she knew was that it was exactly what she needed right now. Sometimes being a war goddess took its toll, even Brigit needed a break sometimes. And she always felt the call back to the moors and back to nature, she hated living in the city.
The redheaded goddess had taken an early morning stroll down the little paved path from her cottage, heading to a quieter part of the little patch of land she owned. Her favourite area, in fact.
A few trees grew there, giving plenty of shade in the summer. A little stream wound through the landscape nearby, and she had let the wildflowers grow freely here. A bench sat beneath the tree, facing out across the moors, the little houses of the village close by.
So Brigit sat on the bench, and just let herself get lost in her thoughts. She needed to do nothing else for a while yet. She had fed the chickens that morning, and tended to the goats and the bees and her garden. There would be more to do later in the day but for now, she could take a moment to let everything drift away. For just a little while, she didn’t have any responsibilities.
Nobody demanded anything of her, she could forget her worries and her guilt about the mistakes she’d made before her fall and since. This was a new start, this was her time to figure things out, take things slow. The world was okay for a little while (relatively anyway, because she couldn’t remember a time there wasn’t some shit happening), she didn’t feel like she needed to be the protector goddess just yet. They didn’t need Brigantia just now.
As an immortal, time seemed to move both so fast and so slowly for Brigit. But in that moment, it didn’t matter. The moment was slow and sweet and could be savoured and she wanted to do so. A moment where she didn’t have to do anything.
And everything was peaceful.

L O T T I E Nomad God
This was why Lottie had come to her mom. Her mother always seemed to have the answers that Lottie herself couldn’t quite get, just like now.
Anu, that was his name, the name Zeus shouted out in annoyance. Lottie hadn’t ever heard of Anu before, but then again...she wasn’t entirely well versed in her worldly mythology, which was probably something she would want to work on with all of this coming into light, it would be a good idea to know exactly who was out there and what they were capable of.
Smart.
That’s what they had to be, smart...but even if they got the smartest person in the world to help them out - which Lottie was entirely convinced was either Halo or Denki - how could they beat gods? Sure they were technically gods as well, but if Lottie was being honest here, she hadn’t ever felt much like a god to begin with, more of a glorified musician with supposed immortality.
However, the recognized gods, they were powerful, they hadn’t ever lost any of their abilities either, and there were so many more of them than there were earth gods.
Lottie paused for a moment, thinking back to all the shows and movies she had watched. They had always been about a ragtag group of losers somehow getting their crap together and defeating people they really shouldn’t be able to defeat, and there had to be some truth to all the stories, right?
...Right?
She hoped so otherwise they were all doomed.
Turning her attention back to her parents, Lottie listened to her mother rant in what she liked to call “Scottish Twitter” which was honestly the best way Lottie could think of to describe it. You know, at some point, Lottie should really show some of that to her mom, she’d either love it or find it horribly offensive, but either way it would be worth showing.
”Focus Lottie,” she reminded herself, giving her head a small shake as she looked back over to her parents.
By now, most of the ranting had subsided, which was good because it meant now they could focus on making some sort of plan, and that plan involved getting backup. Lottie could do that, she knew at least...five other earth gods besides her parents, and at least knew the names of a couple more, it shouldn’t be too hard to herd them all together, and then will all these ancient, intelligent people working together, they’d have a plan figured out in no time and then everything could go back to normal and they could put this all behind them.
Yeah, that’s totally what was going to happen.
There was no reason to panic again.
She had to stay calm.
Listening to her mother explain the first bit of their plan here, Lottie found herself nodding along in agreement. ”Right, backup, we can do that,” she agreed. ”Paris, right, it’s not that big, I can find her,” she continued, nodding along. She could go find her aunt Momo, that was something she should be able to do no problem.
Then with Mo, Ambrose, and Halo, they’d have even more people to help out. They could totally do this.
At the little quip about her phone, Lottie’s face reddened slightly. She...honestly just, hadn’t thought about calling. Something as big as this seemed to be one of those things that required face to face interaction...plus, Lottie could admit that she wasn’t real great under pressure.
Now among all of this, Lottie hadn’t really expected anything else to happen, yet of course she should’ve, as her dad was wearing a fancy robe so today was obviously one of those days where being an extra drama queen was needed in the family - which was very fitting given the situation right now - so when her father handed her a blanket to keep with her, Lottie couldn’t help but smile over at him, bringing the blanket close. ”Thanks Dad,” she told him, rubbing the blanket against her cheek.
Sure maybe it was a little childish but listen, blankets were comforting, who was she to deny the soft and warm embrace of a blanket clearly meant to help her out in a time of need? She wasn’t a monster, and she’d remember to keep the blanket close, both because she was big enough to admit it to herself that it was comforting, and because she wanted to make her father happy as well, so it was really a two for one bonus after all.
Anyways, they had bigger things to worry about right now than a blanket and what it could be used for and how comforting it was. They had a world to save...of potentially die trying...if they even could die in the first place that is.
Once the conversation came to a close, Lottie forced herself to eat the stew her mother had made - she really needed some actual food in her by now - and once it was time to head out again, that’s what she did, adorned with her blanket cape and everything, which did include using her a good sum of her allowance to buy another plane ticket to Paris.
Which, at least she was a little smarter this time and also downloaded a bunch of mythology books onto her kindle - which she had luckily brought with her - to read during the flight.
If she was going to be stuck in a plane for hours, she might a well make the most of it and study up on the recognized gods. Something she hadn’t done before, but she had been in a rush last time...she still was of course, but she had gotten a little smarter since the last plane ride.
...Which, also, she really needed to figure out the whole school situation too, since she technically still had classes and all...but classes should also probably come second to telling the other earth gods about a plot to destroy the world.
