(ahh sorry that took so long)
Nodding slightly, he visibly relaxed. The bicolor tom glance out at the lake once again, deciding he'd had enough grooming. Flashing Peach a goofy grin, he suddenly ran towards the water- not stopping until the liquid splashed up against his flanks. "Come in!" he purred.

The tom giggled, glancing back at Peach with a goofy grin. "It's not that cold, silly," he purred, splashing around. A few of the droplets managed to land in Peach's fur, though he didn't notice as he was too busy jumping around excitedly. I wonder if they're even fish here...

Lightning sighed, she gave up sitting here. She wanted to get going. Slowly she limped through the forest. Suddenly catching a scent mixed with fear. Perking her ears she quickened her pace. The scent was Maple. 'Is something wrong?' She wondered, worry prickled her pelt.
Padding through the forest she scrambled around some bushes before arriving in a small clearing where Maple and Flame stood. They were looking at something that Lightning could already scent was from the Twolegs. Letting out the breath she didn't know she was holding she walked up to them, on the other side of Flame. But she kept her distance from him, feeling like he'd attack her if she was too close. "Twoleg traps? How close are we to the twolegplace?" She wondered curiously.

Flare shrugged in response to Maple’s question. “Who knows why Twolegs do anything? They might not even be trying to catch cats; it could be some other animal they’re after. Anyway--” the orange tom was interrupted when Lightning limped to the scene.
“How close are we to Twolegplace?” she wondered. Flame stiffened at the mention of his old home, then forced himself to relax and answered,
“Half a day’s journey if you’re in a hurry. Though the Twolegs can get here in less than half the time by monster.”

Lightning froze when the shecat asked the question. She didn't think it was a good idea, he was so flighty when it came to questions about himself. She was also curious but she doubted that he would spill all his news to them.
Lightning sat down, gazing at the trap. Why did the Twolegs care that they were in the forest? Its not like they were bothering anyone? Surely it wasn't for cats? She let out a small shiver. Before she glanced at the tom, her gaze soft as she curled her tail around her paws.

Maple blinked quickly as Flare got defensive again, wondering why he was always so quick to put up a fight. Her gaze narrows on him before she rolls her eyes, wondering if he knew just how ridiculous he sounded. ”Because I’m trying to plot against you, that’s why.” She said rather monotone, one of her ears twitching.
Her tail-tip lashes and Maple shakes her head. ”It was just a question, I barely know you, either of you. I’m just trying to get a feel for my surroundings, I’ve never been this far out of my territory before.” She explained to him, hoping he’d calm down a little. Not that she was afraid of Flare, honestly thinking he wouldn’t attack her and if he did well she had enough trust in her training that she could hold her own. ”If you’re really worried about me knowing anything about you then here; I was banished from my clan. A lot of cats died because my stupid mistakes. I lost my sister. my home, and my legacy.” Bringing up old memories caused her heart to tighten in her chest and she feels like she might cry, but she swallows the lump in her throat.
”I’m not a threat to you, Flare, so could you calm down a little. Not everyone is out to get you.”

(Maple’s so pretty, 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 !)
Flare hissed ill-temperedly as Maple made fun of him. She didn’t have any idea what it was like to live among cats who would kill you as soon as look at you. One moment you could partner up with some cat to bring down some prey, then fight to the death over who got to claim it the next. Flare had even seen a couple of rogues kill each other over who got to have first bite of a scrawny old robin. In Twolegplace, you had to fight to survive, and that meant being ready to unsheath your class when you needed to, and showing others you could as well. Flare glanced over at Lightning, who was sitting comfortably on his other side; her wound appeared to be healing well. To his fury, the she-cat was gazing at him with softened eyes. Did she pity him? Maple then began to launch into her own tale of woe; it certainly hadn’t taken her long to lower her defenses. His ears pricked when she made mention of a Clan. The tom had heard tell of large groups of cats who had settled in the forest and surrounding areas, defending borders with a ferocity that earned them legendary status, due mainly to the exaggerations of kittypets. His eyes rounded in disbelief as Maple expounded upon her sorrow, visibly weakened by her grief. She barely knew him! Yet here she was, laying her heart bare before two strange cats who could easily manipulate her into getting what they wanted because of what she had revealed. Still incredulous, he glanced over at Lightning to see how she was taking it. A shift in Maple’s tone caused him to turn his attention back to her. “I’m not a threat to you, Flare, so could you calm down a little? Not everyone is out to get you.” All right, that was the last he was going to take from her. “Well, you may have come from a place of soft living where cats looked out for you, but I didn’t. It’s a wonder I survived kithood,” he growled, remembering tales of his mother’s death shortly after kitting him and how her unfeeling sister had taken him in for a moon before kicking him out of her den. “Where I come from,” he snarled, tail lashing, “Every cat is out to get you. You give a cat any idea that you aren’t more than ready to use your claws, and they’ll kill you, just like that.” He sat down with a thump, angry that a she-cat could elicit such strong anger from him.

(lol it's all good, and thank you!! i thought so too c: )
Soft living? Did he really call clan life soft living? Maple was about to go off again until Flare explained himself a little more, despite him doing it rather angrily.
Maple huffs, her feathery tail pluming out as she easily gets frustrated but is trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. Two cats angry at each other wasn't going to solve anything, even if she was very tempted to tell him off, that he was being nothing more than a grumpy tom. But she has to remind herself that they do come from different walks of life, and as Flare just said it was normal for him to always watch his back. Nonetheless, the irritation was still apparent in her expression as she watches him rather dramatically sit back down.
"Tell me how I could've possibly known that, Flare. I'm just trying to find some common ground here!" Maple paces a bit before sitting down as well, facing the fiery tom but keeping a bit of distance between them. "Obviously, you didn't have an easy life and it was wrong of me to assume anything about you. I'm just, I just...I don't know, okay! The she-cat sounds exasperated , shaking her head as her thoughts come to a standstill in her mind. Why was she even trying to explain herself to him? To either of them? Getting involved with rogues did nothing good for her last time, but then again she doesn't have a clan anymore that has to deal with the consequences. It's just her. So what does she have to lose now?
"I'm sorry, alright." She sighs, lifting her green gaze to meet his. "But, I don't think it's right for you to assume that my life, or anyone else's, wasn't hard or filled with heartbreak. You're not in that bloodthirsty environment anymore so it's unfair of you to continue to cling to the same mindset. I don't care if you don't care to hear this coming from me, but deep down you know I'm right." Maple's expression gets a little firm. "Yell and blow up at me all you want, but I'm going to eat. Hopefully something didn't snatch our prey." And with that the tabby stood and began to tread back to the clearing where she left her mouse and squirrel.
(ahh im sorry but i love theeeeeem, i like that she gets him so angry lolol)

(No need to apologize, 𝚛𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚢 ! I love that Maple matches Flare’s fire lol)
“I never said there wasn’t any hardship in your life, okay? I was just telling you why I’ve got to watch my tail.” Flare defended himself. Did she really think that he would take her word that she was a cat to be trusted? Did she? She must take him for a feather-brained kit, then. And she definitely made it painfully obvious that she had never experienced an environment as harsh as Twolegplace by her foolish trust in every cat that she met. She probably always had someone to watch her tail for her.
Maple got up and left, then, mentioning something about their prey. Well, she was the one who had made him abandon everything without even burying it because of some dumb Twoleg trap. All of a sudden, the tom felt an unquenchable, overpowering yearning for solitude. Ignoring Lightning, he slunk away, heading in the direction opposite of Maple’s. Would he be able to sleep? There was certainly a risk, what with cats who knew he was here so close by.
Flare knew he had to rest, however. He was beginning to trip over his own paws. Well, even if Maple did have an apparent change of heart (this whole thing about him trusting her could just be a ruse, after all) and decide to ambush him in the middle of the night, he was confident he could hold his own, even when jolted from a sound sleep. And Lightning? He doubted he had to worry about her, but then again, you never knew. It always paid to be alert. Crawling under a sheltering gorse bush a ways from the glade with the trap, Flare curled up inside, branches scraping his spine. Even leaf litter was more comfortable than the hard white stone of Twolegplace. Resting his chin on his paws, the tom let out a long, gusty sigh in the privacy of his sleeping place and tried to stay awake for as long as he could, though inevitably a thick, drowsy wave of sleep crashed over him and he gave into it, unable to hold out any longer.
(Timeskip to morning, maybe?)

Lightning sighed as the other two wandered away. Out of curiosity, she followed Flare to where she saw him curled up, resting. She knew she should do the same thing, she needed to sleep if she were to leave tomorrow. Lightning hesitated for a moment before she padded quietly toward him, she knew he didnt trust her, and he had secrets to hide but so did she. So she would give whatever comfort he needed. Only until dawn because you dont care about this cat! She thought to herself, cursing her mind to think she liked him.
Lightning ended up finding a spot almost a fox length away from him and curled up in the grass herself. She didn't want to get too close to him, she would not be comfortable with that and she knew that he wouldn't either. Lightning blinked when she felt a slight tingle in her chest, she felt lonely right then. Even if she was around the other cats she felt a sense of loneliness. Thats the price you pay for staying a loner. She reminded herself as she gazed out into the forest. Would she ever feel comfortable getting close to a cat?

Flare blinked open his eyes and looked around him; the familiar towering structures of Twolegplace loomed above him, blocking out the sky. He was in the expanse of white stone dotted by abandoned monster dens where Scrap’s followers gathered. Though the tom couldn’t see anyone, he could feel that he was being watched. Suddenly, he heard a rush of air behind him and collapsed under the weight of some cat leaping onto his haunches, his legs buckling and shooting out beneath him as the breath was knocked out his body. Twisting his face around to see his attacker, Flare’s eyes locked with the cold blue gaze of a powerful black-and-white tom.
“Scrap?” he murmured disbelievingly. His father’s face remained motionless, his paw sliding up Flare’s spine and coming to rest between his son’s ears. “I...I’m sorry. I never meant to kill you. I’d do anything to relive that moment. You know that, right?” Scrap didn’t answer; instead he unsheathed his claws and pushed down, pricking Flare’s skin. The orange tom began to struggle wildly, but Scrap’s paws held him down as his front paw slowly, steadily traveled toward Flare’s neck. Flare let out a final, fierce yowl before the world started swirling around him…
Flare jerked awake, his eyes wide as they flicked about him; he was in warm darkness. He struggled to get up but couldn’t because of something long and thin holding him down. He became aware of sharp pains in his pelt, and realized that he was stuck in a gorse bush with thorns in his pelt. Spitting in rage, the tom slithered out of the bush and burst into a newleaf forest filled with sunshine. Was it that late already? Lightning’s scent touched his nose, and looking around he could see her black pelt a little ways beyond his gorse bush. She had come so near to him, and yet he hadn’t noticed. He must have been exhausted. Muttering under his breath, the tom turned and twisted, nipping out the spines that were stuck in his fur. He would choose a nice, thornless holly bush to sleep in tonight, he promised himself.

Maple awoke the next morning startled, not remembering where she was again until the memories of the day before caught up to her. The she-cat returned to the clearing by the creek, quickly finished off her mouse and buried the rest of the prey before going to sleep finally. For once she fell asleep without any dreams to haunt her the next morning, and she'd been too tired to have any problems actually falling asleep.
Sitting up slowly, Maple ran her tongue over a few spots on her pelt that definitely needed some grooming after tossing and turning without a proper nest. Once she deemed herself presentable, she dug up the prey and shook out the dirt. Her eyes trained on the sparrow that Flare must've caught, she didn't get a good look as she was so bewildered by the twoleg trap to notice what he'd caught. Maple frowns as she's reminded of the brash tom. Once again she's feeling frustrated by last nights events and how angry he got and she briefly wondered how he got to be so vexed.
'It's none of my business.' Maple thought to herself, starting to pad off. Unfortunately, something kept nagging at her and with a frustrated groan, she turned around and snatched up the sparrow. 'Might as well not let it go to waste. I'll just drop it off then I'll leave.' That seemed like an easy enough plan to follow through, hopefully he'd still be asleep when she got there so there wouldn't be any interaction.
Following her way back to where the twoleg trap was, Maple scented the air and caught Flare's scent rather easily. She followed it and soon came upon Lightning, but couldn't exactly see where Flare had gone, wondering if he'd left already. That is until she heard his fit of rage and hissing, watching the orange tom suddenly wriggle from underneath a gorse bush with thorns covering his pelt. Her eyes widen and she couldn't help but drop the sparrow and burst out into her own fit of cackles, doubling over and trying to contain herself to just giggles so she wouldn't wake up half the forest.
"You look like a pinecone! Oh my stars you should've seen the way you looked getting out of that bush!"

Maple snorts, recognizing his snarl and knowing she should probably cut it out soon, but she just couldn't get the image out of her head. Every time she was about to calm down she'd instantly recall the expression on his face, the way his body scrambled from under the bush. It was all too much for her. Eventually Maple forces herself to take a couple of deep breaths, finally looking back up to Flare with a goofy-looking grin on her face.
"Oh, wow, yeah I think I'm done now." She chuckles softly and watches as he hastily grooms his pelt. Maybe if they'd been clanmates, or just friends in general, she'd offer to help. However, Maple remained sitting, forgetting about the sparrow at her paws. "A gorse bush, huh? Probably not the best place to make your nest."

Lightning blinked her eyes open when she heard all of the commotion going on. As soon as she opened her eyes she saw a furious Flame standing there, his pelt was matted with something. She shot up alarmed. Only to realize he had a fight with the holly bush. 'Mousebrain' She thought to herself, before walking closer to him. Keeping her distance enough. "Do you need help?" She asked seriously. Tilting her head in curiosity.
