(Oh definitely, and he'll just shrug at them and more than likely receive a shoulder punch in response)
He drew one leg up to his chest, resting his chin on his knee as he watched her. When she commented on his current state of existence, his ears twitched a little as he turned his gaze to his right hand. It'd been years since he'd done this... And this wasn't even of his own free will. "Yeah it's, uh... Haven't been stuck like this since I was about sixteen years old and just learning to control it. It just feels tingly after a bit... but you're right, it's not fun," Carter responded, running his thumb over the tops of his claws. Relatively smooth, just like he remembered. He'd have to actually let himself relax if he even watched a chance at shifting back. When Celia spoke up again, hazel eyes turned to her. "That's fair." As she spoke about going out to get the rest of the bags, he let his leg rest from his altered sitting positions, lips parting to say he would help. And then he paused, legs tensed in preparation to stand. He relaxed slowly, nodding a little. "Rest, yeah."

(He always protests but its weak and he doesn't quite deny it xD)
He only nodded in response to her statement. There was no point in protesting - she was absolutely right. Like this all he would be in a general hindrance. Drawing attention, raising suspicions and the like, which was all counteractive to the work they needed to get done. "Alright, I'll be here," Carter responded, watching as she left. It didn't take much for him to get his boots off and actually situate himself somewhere that was closer to the middle of the bed. For a moment he sat there, looking around they'd be in for the next two nights. In this moment, it dawned on him just how much energy he'd taken up already, solely because he didn't refuse challenges, nor did he take the time to find a better way to fulfill them. So he finally laid down and it didn't take much for him to fall asleep.

(And when they try to do it to Celia, she just gives them a death glare and shuts it down real fast. XD )
Celia has no trouble bringing in the two duffel bags that contained changes of clothes. Really, the whole trip lasted five minutes, yet when she returned to the room, she found Carter stretched out on one of the beds and fast asleep. Well, that as fast. Then again, she had told him to rest, and she didn't know just how much his injuries and shift took out of him. So, being as silent as she could, she set the bags down and sat down at the table. She would be going over the files again, putting together all the information they had so far and finalizing a strategy that they would be using for later.

(They all just back away from her quietly in favor of continuing to breath xD)
Carter has always found it relatively easy to fall asleep, however this time had been particularly easy due to his sheer exhaustion. He hardly moved as she came back into the room, ears flicking only once or twice. Other than that, there was no indication that he’d heard her. The lupine was a deep sleeper if nothing else, which was both a good thing and a bad thing.

(I’ve been thinking about the moral dilemma Carter is meant to have later about hunting supernatural creatures - do you think that job that kicks it off should have something to do with hunting another wolf? Like not a rogue or anything, but just another happy and healthy werewolf who had something pinned in them or just like ‘saw them shift they gotta go’ type thing?)

(Haha, thanks.
That could be a good way to start things off. Like, he has no problem hunting the ones who truly do something to harm others or the society as a whole, but maybe an innocent werewolf/other creature has been framed for some kind of tragedy even though there's not really enough proof that it was them. There's no proof it wasn't them either so they have to carry out the mission anyways. That could start Carter thinking about if it was the right thing to do or not. Then maybe they could have a run in with a group of rebels who are trying to fight back against the hunters. I think I might have an idea for that, but it's not really fleshed out, so I'll save it until later. Maybe after this mission just so I can get a feel of how they work together.
Ah, good luck with that! I hope it's not too stressful for you and things go well!)
While Carter slept, Celia prepared. This wasn't like her other missions. Normally, she's able to slip in, do some recon, and get out. There's little interactions that need to be done, and when conversations are required, she can put on a bit of special effects make up to hide her scar and get the info needed. This is what she did while her partner rested. In the tiny bathroom of the motel room, she quickly and easily hide the giant scar that split her face. She hated the stuff, mainly because it was a pain to remove, but she knew that her scar was a huge give away if she ever needed to be in disguise. Better to just go ahead and cover it up before anyone really saw her. It took a good long while to make it seem like her face had never been injured in the first place. When that was done, she set about changed clothes. Gone were the tank and cargo pants that she wore that morning. They were replaced by more causal attire, a t-shit and dark skinny jeans. Something that would blend a little easier in the crowd of the cafe. Her boots remained, however, simply because she liked them and they matched the outfit well enough.

(Ohhh rebels could be fun too - it’d be interesting to see reactions during and after whatever event happens honestly
Ahh, thanks. Honestly I just want the move to be done and everything to just be unpacked)
The lupine remained asleep, only really moving when he rolled into his side. The good thing about being a deep sleeper was that there was essentially no risk of being woken up by common sounds. The only downside he saw was hitting REM too quickly. Anything that had gone wrong that day or memories he couldn’t seem to willingly bring forth only haunted him while he slept. Today it was his poor choice in holding a silver plated object. While it wasn’t the worst, it wasn’t pleasant either. Despite the unpleasant memory recall, Carter did return from the partial shift without a problem, ears and claws quite literally dissolving to nothing. It wasn’t as interesting to see as a return from a full shift, but it was still something. It was a few minutes after Celia had changed that he’d come to, sitting up slowly and rubbing his eyes. He couldn’t remember falling asleep, which wasn’t exactly out of character for him but it was also the middle of the day. Letting his hand drop into his lap, the werewolf took in the rooms surroundings with mildly blurred vision. “How long was I out?” It was a vague question, though falling asleep had’t been part of his plan. Then again, neither had getting injured.

(Faintly, my idea boils down to the rebels trying to get Carter to understand how wrong the organization is being for killing them for no reason, and Celia possibly getting hurt because they find out she's a spy for them.
I can understand that. I can imagine moving is very hectic.)
"Two hours, give or take a few minutes," Celia responded without even looking over at him. She was standing by the other bed rummaging through her bag. She was in the process of hiding small weapons on her. She couldn't bring much, but she wasn't about to go in unarmed. A knife in her boot, which was a normal hiding place for her. The woman wanted to bring more, but she wasn't entirely sure where to put them. Her shirt would show their outlines, and she didn't want it in the waistband of her jeans. That was a spot asking to stab herself in. She had a holster that went around her torso, but, again, her shirt wouldn't do much hiding them. It just wasn't baggy enough.

(Now that could be interesting cause Carter is a stubborn child and her getting hurt, depending on how close they are at that point would only piss him off
It is! I hate it! But we’re almost done!)
Two hours? Huh, it’d felt shorter than that. Regardless, he’d be lying if he didn’t say he felt ten times better that he had prior to his nap. His hand also felt better as compared to two hours ago, and figured the salve was decently effective. Still, he thought it best not to put it to the test by using his hand as normal. As his vision cleared, he watched her, blinking a little as he caught a specific detail. Her scar - it was gone? No, not possible. Covered was more likely. Though, he was definitely her as the scents in the room hadn’t changed. Moving to sit on the edge of the bed, he watched her as she placed a knife in her boot. “Do you want switchblades? I’ve got a few extras on me.” Carter preferred switchblades to normal knives only because they greatly reduced the possibly of accidentally stabbing oneself. He had four for this trip, and two throwing knives in his boot. He figured it wouldn’t hurt parting with one.

(Not to mention that Celia would think that since they're partners, there is a level of loyalty between them, which can be used to make her mad at him for Carter even giving their ideas a second thought. Maybe it starts out as Carter trying to infiltrate their ranks, they somehow find out Celia's been spying on them, and she gets attacked. They may or may not connect him to her, but either way, it won't end very well for the rebels. XD
That good! Just keep going! It'll be over soon!)
"If you can spare one," Celia agreed. She turned to face him. "How are you feeling? I see you're back to normal, so I take it that means the pain must be reduced." Either that or he was still partially asleep and hadn't done anything to make himself aware of the pain once more. She would give it two minutes before she could tell which was which.
(Sorry it's short!)

(Ohhh definitely. The ideas just get spicer and spicier. He eventually just ices everyone out so he can figure out because now everything is too much and he never had to really think of these sorts of problems)
He nodded, leaning back slightly as he pulled one out from his waistband. All of his switch blades were long enough to reach the heart. Illegal, yes, however it didn’t stop him. Standing, he held it out to her, head tilted slightly at her comment. “Yeah, it’s a lot better than before - I’m sorry, by the way. I’m not the most pleasant to give medical attention to.” It wasn’t like Carter was ignorant to how he acted. It’s just that sometimes he didn’t remember all the details. Still, this was also more than likely the only apologize she’d get for it now and in the future unless he got really out of hand. “So, whats on the agenda?”
(Shhh it’s okayyyy)

(Thus making Celia even madder and in turn completely ignores him too. XD)
"You're not the first reluctant patient I've tended to," she told him. "I doubt you'll be the last. Don't worry about it." Taking he switchblade, Celia stashed it away into the waistband of her own jeans. "We go into the club. You talk with the people who might have connections to he demon, or who might know the most rumors about him. Bribery is always an option. We have plenty of money at our disposal if you need it. I'll scope around he place, listen in to other conversations, check for any secret rooms if I can. There may be cameras, so we might have to do something to them. If so, I'll figure out something. Our main goal is to gather information. If the demon happens to be there, then we can do one of two things: Try to befriend it and have a second meeting with it, or try to follow it after it leaves. We do nothing while in the club. If we have to, setting up a second meeting would work in our favor. At least then we'll have a time and location to work with. If we have to follow it, that'll be trickier, but nothing too impossible. I'm sure you can track it by scent if needed." At this, she gave a little smirk to indicate that last comment, while possibly true, was meant as a joke to let him know that his earlier behavior really hadn't bothered her.

((And then when he finally tries to talk to her he just gets more mad cause she’s ignoring him xD)
He only nodded to her first comments, walking around the bed to put on his boots. As he was pulling them on he ensured his two throwing knives were secure in his left boot. As she went through what was going to be done, Carter stretched, only wincing slightly as he flexed his left hand. It was definitely better than before, but the pain hadn’t been completely negated. Even still, he was grateful. As for what needed to be done... he wasn’t a stranger to bribery, but he was better at persuasion and intimidation. As for the cameras, he was still for causing property damage. Still, he guessed that wasn’t the best way to take care of it. “Nothing in the club, got it,” the lupine repeated, looking over at her. Second meeting or following.... while the latter was easier for him personally, the former would make more sense in this case. At her last comment, he couldn’t help but grin. “Sure can - local tracker, at your service.” Despite his amused reply, he did know they had things to get to. “Planning a second meeting might be easier - following demons ain’t fun. Not opposed to it, but I’d rather not.”

(They really can’t omg xD what a good time)
Nodding, Carter hooked his thumbs in his pockets. “Sounds good. You don’t have to speak to the demon then. Just silently kill it with your eyes.” Sure, he didn’t have a full understanding of where her hatred of the species came from, but he respected it nonetheless. So if she didn’t want to talk to their target, then he’d do all the talking. “The least productive outcome is that we get a lead on where it might be. Otherwise, I’m sure everything will be fine.”

(First off, don't be anxious! I'm super into this plot, and while I haven't been quick with the reply, I think about what to add to this story all the time. I'm so sorry for making it seem like I'm not interested. I am! I really am! These two are precious, and I adore them. Work and school are swamping me, and I don't want to give you quick little hurried responses. I want to give you something to work with, something that'll be interesting and meaningful. That's why it's taking so long. I don't want to just give you two or three sentences. To me, that just seems unfair and I don't want that. Trust me, I'm not forgetting about this plot, I'm trust trying to make it as good as I can without putting in low amounts of effort.)
Once more, Celia's lips twitched into an amused smirk at his statement. "Fair enough," she said. "If there's anything you need to do, do it now. It's almost time to head back to the cafe. If we want to get there with the high tide of the crowd, that is. That should be our best chance in blending in unnoticed." Sure, new faces were bound to be noticed, but if there were others who were entering the place at the same time, then it should be a little easier. Familiar faces will take up the initial conversation and attention, giving them at least thirty minutes to work without being interrupted.

(No no I’m just like. Yeah that makes sense I’m literally just a dumb right now and my brain has been in anxiety mood this entire week so like highkey it’s just been ‘this is what’s happening instead of the logical conclusion’ so then I figured it would be better to ask?? But yeah no that literally makes way more sense)
Carter made a mental note of her smirk. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t proud of getting that from her. “I mean, I feel pretty ready to go,” he responded, figuring there was no reason to wait. He didn’t feel as though he needed to change anything about this appearance, and his knives were on his person with one exception. “Should they ask, the drink you order to get in is a snowberry latte triple espresso.” It was an important tidbit. If he was right, he could simply order for the both of them without a problem. Then again, the lupine didn’t know how tight their security was. As for the order itself it was interesting to him. Snowberry lattes existed regionally, and he personally liked them. When mixed with excess espresso, however, the flavor soured and was enough to make anybody sick.

(Ahhhh are you sure?? Cause like highkey I know like it can get like annoying? Which I guess is literally the point but like still)
As for the lupine, lattes were the only coffee-like drink he would get. Even then they had to be flavored, otherwise he wouldn’t drink them. The tip of bitter that came with the flavor of coffee was unbearable to him. The smell, on the other hand, was wonderful. When she spoke up, Carter rolled his eyes, throwing up his hands dramatically. “Gosh, hold a silver plated knife one time and you never live it down.” He was being completely over dramatic, though he grinned a little at her. He had already reached the point where he could make jokes about this particular mistake. The knowledge that he had screwed up had already passed and as it stood, he wasn’t in any severe pain to be angry over. “I’ve learned my lesson.” Mostly that is. Silver was most definitely a no go. Willfully injuring himself to prove a point by any other means, however, would never be out of the question for him.

One brow lifted as Carter displayed his little theatrical moment, amused but determined not to let it show too much. "Ask anyone at work, they'll tell you I never let a stupid decision to be lived down," she told him, her tone of voice the only indicator that she was playing along with whatever joking mood he had suddenly found himself in. It was better than him grumbling and being in pain, so she would take it. "But now that you've seemed to return to a logical and reasonable state of mind, we really should get going. Come on." And with that, the woman began to walked towards the door, making sure she had the key to the motel room in her pocket.

Grinning at her as she responded, he slid his hands into his pockets. “Really? So there’s dumb decisions I have yet to hear about?” He loved hearing about poor decisions that weren’t his own. The lupine heard enough about his own choices, it was fun to hear about others. As she continued he shrugged. “Debatable - I feel as though my choice was logical at the time.” Still, Carter followed her out of the door, only pulling his right hand from his pocket long enough to pull it closed behind him. “So, where do you suggest we start? Observe first and go straight for ordering.” He personally would prefer the latter, however the fact of the matter was he could no longer dive headfirst into everything. Well, he could, but now there were proper consequences he didn’t feel like dealing woth.

"Mind you, this is your first day on the job. There's a lot of things you haven't heard of," Celia informed him. "Good decisions and bad, and everything in between. And you're logic is a bit scrambled there if you thought it was a good idea." When they had left the room, she locked and closed the door behind them. Then she walked with Carter to the car. "That's what I had planned. It might even be best if we go in at different times. Since you've already been seen inside the cafe today, I was thinking that I would slip inside, and find a spot to sit and listen. I can hold off ordering for a while, claiming to be waiting on a friend. After an agreeable amount of time, you'll join me, we'll order, and we'll get a move on with the rest of the evening."

(Ayyeeee we now have a plan of action! XD)
“Well as partners I feel like there’s a ton of time to tell me.” He was curious, honestly, and he was sure he’d hear at least a few stories in due time. As she continued, he only shrugged. “Like I said, at the time it seemed like a good idea. Besides, it worked.” Carter was generally first thought first action in those kinds of situations, and while he was now injured because of it, they did make progress. Which was all he really cared about right now. Part of the problem was her assumption that she could play him. It only pissed him off which pushed him to be that much more impulsive. It was amazing that he hadn’t gotten used to this considering how often people he worked with took his kindness and amicability for weakness.
Nodding a long to her words, Carter let himself into the far as soon as it was unlocked. “Right... so about the time it takes to walk around the block? Or at least down a few alleys - figure I could try to estimate how many demons hang around regularly.” Those that hung around regularly would have stronger scent trails than those who used the alleys in passing. That, and it seemed like something that could waste a good amount of time before he went back into the cafe.
