βIβm sure sheβll learn when itβs time to be mature and when itβs time to be a goof.β Skyrunner said as she remembered her warrior ceremony. βIf you lead by example, Iβm sure sheβll follow.β She said with a curt nod. βIβm sure we all were excited to be warriors the first couple days. She of course still need to learn a lot though.β Skyrunner said finally as she scratched her ear and shook her head.

Scorchstarβs ears pricked at Thawtailβs conversation, the fur on his neck rising anxiously. No longer hungry, the tom pushed the mouse he was sharing with his mate closer to her, before trotting off to join the three chatting warriors. βThawtail.β He began, forcing the fur on his neck to lie flat. βIs there a reason you didnβt report to me immediately? Especially considering there were rogue scents on our side of the border. That is something even a young cat would know to do.β He scolded, flicking his tail towards Rushwhisker as an example. βAs for that patrol you were organizing, you will not be apart of it. Rushwhisker will be taking your place. I appreciate your willingness to help with patrols since Ashenpoolβs move into the nursery and Brightskyβs death, but anything you decide must be ran by me first. How am I supposed to keep up with my clan if they run off whenever they want? You are old enough to remember the rogues who so viciously drove us from our home, you were part of the battle to regain our home. If itβs the same rogues who attacked then, we are all in danger.β The dark ginger tom went on, his fierce blue eyes burning with anxiety and anger, though it was more directed towards the rogues than towards his warrior. βYour punishment for-β Scorchstar was cut off as a white paw cuffed his ear. βI think youβve made your point dear, Iβm sure Thawtail was going to mention something as soon as he ate.β Scorchstar could see his mate was right, perhaps he was being a bit too harsh. The tom dipped his head apologetically towards his warrior. βYou are not allowed on the patrol. I need you to fetch Pintailβs patrol and tel them to meet us where you found the rogue scent... was it by the abandoned twoleg place?β He questioned, praying to StarClan it wouldnβt be so. Ashenpool rubbed her mates cheek lovingly before lumbering towards Poppyspots den. It wouldnβt be much longer before the she-cat kitted. @ripper Cool Guy πΉπͺπ»π½π΅π π¬π΅πΈπΎππ spaceotterr<3

Thawtail | 34 moons | Tom-cat | Warrior A dark brown pointed tom with white patches and grey-blue eyes
Rushwhisker | 14 moons | She-cat | New warrior A blue-silver classic tabby she-cat with deep blue eyes [Welcome to GorgeClan! If youβd like, and if itβs okay with kite, Cinderflower and Thawtail could be littermates, along with Rushwhisker and Ridgerunner (though youβd have to make rush 2 moons older) i'm okay with these! my babs are all open for family/relationships, so i'm down for anything! ^.^

Cinderflower // with Acornpaw { ashwind }
Cinderflower nodded her head with a purr.
"Sure, little one. The leap and twist was always difficult for me too, so I understand that," she mewed in mild amusement. "Though, if you ask me, hunting it the best part of being a warrior. The thrill of a battle is all well and good, but something about providing for the clan, and being swift and quiet enough to sneak up even on bigger prey, makes me feel more like a warrior than fighting ever did."
Cinderflower pondered as they walked. Her paws resting on and lifting from the ground faded as she watched her surroundings, ears twitching every so often at small noises. She developed an aura of calm, and anyone looking on would likely think she was watching for enemies, but they couldn't be farther from the truth. In the distance, she heard a hawk cry, but thought nothing of it. As far off as that hawk sounded, she didn't think it would bother them.

Acornpaw was ecstatic at his mentors words. She felt the same way I do! The young tom was too excited to hear the screeching hawk in the distance, they had finally arrived near Swanstarβs Oak. βIt doesnβt look like Needlefang and his patrol made it this way yet... should we be worried? Thawtailβs patrol was supposed to patrol the other half..β The small brown tom shook the thoughts from his head, he was here to practice battle techniques, not worry about the dawn patrol. Still... I hope Slatepaw is alright... especially having to deal with Needlefang and Pintail. A blind mouse could see those cats didnβt get along. βAre you ready?β He asked the large gray she-cat, his claws sticking in the earth anxiously.

Cinderflower // with Acornpaw { ashwind }
Cinderflower purred at Acornpaw's eagerness to get started.
"I'm sure everything's alright. Nothing really moves at this hour, I can't imagine we'd be in any danger here." As she said it, she couldn't shake the feeling that she might by horribly, terribly wrong. But she ignored it. Surely they would be fine here. Needlefang and the patrol would be here soon to pronounce the area clear, and she and Acornpaw would be fine. For now, she'd focus on her apprentice.
Briefly, she reminded the young tom of the basics of the leap and twist, and demonstrated it on a nearby bush. Turning back to the brown tom, Cinderflower signaled with her tail for him to show her what she'd just demonstrated, one ear flicking as the hawk screeched again.
That sounded awfully close compared to last time. Should we move? . . . No, I'm sure we're fine.
It's funny, isn't it, how one decision can change everything. Cinderflower didn't know it now, but by the end of the day she'd be wishing they'd never gone anywhere near Swanstar's Oak. For now, though, she watched the young tom with fond amusement, unaware of the danger lurking nearby.

what if instead of dying, he gets very very injured, like can't be a warrior for a while injured, and pintail blames himself for not being there, while cinderflower blames herself for being there, when they could have been somewhere else, and then mutual bonding over "we almost lost him pls help me"

i did haha! this is gonna kill me and also cinder bc she's gonna blame herself so much but character development
oh my god i just... after acorn, cinder starts being scared to get too fond of her apprentices, bc she's afraid to lose them, and maybe one night he visits her in a dream and reassures her and reminds her that she couldn't have stopped the hawk in time anyways, so it isn't her fault and then tears

Slatepaw | ashwind 's pintail & @ripper 's needlefang | patrol
The young tom's paws shifted impatiently as he waited to get a move on, but Pintail and Needlefang just couldn't seem to make a fast decision. He wanted to leave so he could get back to his nest, for StarClan's sake. He had an urge to say something to hint at his impatience, but, thinking better of it, kept his mouth shut as the bickering continued. Slatepaw frowned, wondering why the two couldn't just get along and be done with it, before realizing they were already moving. He jumped to his feet and hurried after the warriors and out of camp, his nose nearly brushing his mentor's tail.
Slatepaw pricked his ears as Pintail asked him if he could smell anything, lifting up his muzzle and scenting around. The usual earthy tones of trees, undergrowth, and prey hit his nose, but there was a hint of something unfamiliar laced somewhere in the mix. He frowned for a moment, trying to pinpoint it and figure out what is was, when he realized it was the scent of a badger. Not a common threat, the badger, it was harder for the apprentice to recognize its scent. His eyes lit up and he opened his jaws to report his findings, but was cut off when Needlefang replied for him. Slatepaw clamped his mouth shut again, feeling frustrated, coming to understand his mentor's irritation with the other warrior. I didn't realize your name was Slatepaw, he grumbled to himself before retreating to where Pintail had instructed him to go and fish. He was glad to leave the patrol briefly, out of earshot from the arguing. It was too early for this. He should have just stayed in his nest.
Slatepaw had caught three fish by the time Pintail came back to check up on his apprentice. The dark furred tom lifted his head and replied, "Pretty good, I've had a lot of time to get a decent haul," his voice a little pointed towards Pintail.
Gingerglow | ripper's heatherpaw & ashwind's bluepoppy | patrol
Gingerglow let out a chuckle at his apprentice's awakening before informing her once more on why she was being woken up. "We've got patrol duty," he repeated, beckoning her out of the den with his ears. "Sorry that you have to wake up so early, but, Bluepoppy's waiting." He gestured to the tortoiseshell outside, who was just disappearing down the slope. "We're hunting, so I hope you've got enough energy to keep up." His soft voice was slightly teasing at Heatherpaw; even if she was sleepy, he knew she would be a spirited as ever. Once he was sure that she got the message, Gingerglow turned tail and padded slowly towards where he last saw Bluepoppy, pausing in wait of his apprentice.
Poppyspots | ashwind's ashenpool | den
The medicine cat was finishing up her work when she spotted Ashenpool making her way towards her den. Her nose twitched; she had predicted she would be visiting her soon. Pushing a bundle of marigold into its spot, Poppyspots stood and stretched before heading outside to greet the queen. She blinked warmly at her in greeting, meowing, "How are you feeling today, Ashenpool?" The molly was looking rather tired, so Poppyspots beckoned her to sit inside so she could rest her paws. Ashenpool was due any day now and the medicine cat had kept a keen eye on her, just in case anything were to start happening. She even had the proper herbs set out already, along with a thick stick she had found in case Ashenpool needed something to distract from the pain. "Have you had any recent contractions?"

Acornpaw tensed his muscles, focusing on what to do and how to do it. The young tom closed his eyes briefly to muster his confidence. Seconds before the tom was about to leap he heard a loud screech overhead. His eyes flashed up immediately, landing on a huge hawk soaring above them. Itβs wingspan must have been as long as two cats from tail tip to nose. His gaze flickered nervously to his mentor and back to the predator. In a split second the creature dove down and Acornpaw braved himself, but it wasnβt coming for him... it was coming for Cinderflower! There was no time to do anything except react. His instinct kicked in and the tom leapt into the air as the bird came closer to the ground, twisting his hind legs so his front paws were below him, he slammed them on the birds head tearing into it. The hawk wasnβt going to give up without a fight though, and instantly flung the apprentice off itβs back, digging itβs claws deep into the apprentices belly. The small brown tom slammed to the ground with a loud thud and lay unmoving aside from the slight rise and fall of his flank, as the hawk turned its attention towards Cinderflower, enraged it had been caught off guard by the smaller cat. Cinderflower // with Acornpaw { ashwind }
Time was passing in slow motion. The screech that was suddenly too close for comfort caught her attention, and before she could do anything, Cinderflower was watching in horror as Acornpaw flew into the air, immediately throwing himself onto the bird. She was so busy yowling and throwing her body to the side, she didn't noticed the hawk scoring its talons down his soft belly. Cinderflower made eye contact with the hawk, and she felt a blinding rage rush through her blood. This bird had attempted to hurt her - and in doing so, had likely hurt her apprentice when he'd tried to save her.
This bird was going to die. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Growling loudly, Cinderflower threw her massive body at the bird as it leapt into the air. Her claws latched into its neck, and the pair soared into the sky. Cinderflower's weight began to drag her body down, and with her, the bird. Allowing her grip to loosen ever so slightly, Cinderflower shamelessly reveled in the feeling of the birds feathers and skin underneath her claws as she slipped down its body. When she'd reached it's belly, Cinderflower let go, and fell heavily to the grown.
That's gonna hurt later, she thought as she watched the bird fall and lay unmoving. The black and gray molly grinned in triump, before turning to her young apprentice.
An apprentice that wasn't moving.
Cinderflower couldn't even scream. She could only stare in horror at the small body - it seemed so much smaller now. She ran to the small tom, tears pushing at her eyes.
"A - Acornpaw? Acornpaw, can you hear me? Little one, are you alright?" She was shouting, but she didn't notice. The worry coursing through her overpowered any and all rational sense.
